Rush Limbaugh, in my opinion was a demonstration of why the fairness doctrine shouldn’t have been undone, passed of

As has been said before about Mayor Daley... I'm not glad he's dead, but I'm glad he's gone.
If there is such a phenomenon as absolute evil, it consists in treating another human being as a thing.

I have no problem being glad Limbaugh is dead. He should have never been born. A fetid piece of shit, a demon of a person, filled with hatred and scorn, he is as responsible as anybody for the horrors of this country right now, from Trump to QAnon. He was absolutely vile.

Its not like FB cannot afford to come to arrangement. Seems like spite and childishness to me.

But you can't challnege the most holy aspect of our capitalist faith, that most sacred, the pocketbook, it's sacrilege!

If your opinion of Ted Cruz wasn't low already, this will drive it down more.

Changing his campaign slogan to 'Yes, We Cancun!'

(Saw the preludes to that last night, before there was reliable confirmation.)

[with apologies to Herbert George Wells for adjusting the century forwards...]

"No one would have believed in the last years of the twentieth century that this world was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man's and yet as mortal as his own; that as men busied themselves about their various concerns they were scrutinised and studied, perhaps almost as narrowly as a man with a microscope might scrutinise the transient creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. With infinite complacency men went to and fro over this globe about their little affairs, serene in their assurance of their empire over matter. It is possible that the infusoria under the microscope do the same. No one gave a thought to the older worlds of space as sources of human danger, or thought of them only to dismiss the idea of life upon them as impossible or improbable. It is curious to recall some of the mental habits of those departed days. At most terrestrial men fancied there might be other men upon Mars, perhaps inferior to themselves and ready to welcome a missionary enterprise. Yet across the gulf of space, minds that are to our minds as ours are to those of the beasts that perish, intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic, regarded this earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us. And early in the twenty-first century came the great disillusionment."

Thats interesting. My country is notoriously anti mentioning race, anti DNA test (you can get fined), etc. I'm generally mistaken for a good Catholic girl so I hear a lot of racism or homophobic talk (I'm an invisible minority) and I can testify that people will just bash Asians, foreigners or whoever. Also "they're looking for it." I've had fights with uber taxis over the hate flood. I feel that things like metoo might have educated some but they've also created a reaction against the people who will be like "oh, stop listening to metoo"

There's been some hub-bub about Boebert and Greene recently about guns.

Greene has co-sponsored a bill in support of making 'suppressors' (silencers) for guns more readily available.  (Called, disingenuously, the 'Hearing Protection Act'.)

The sponsor of the bill claims to have suffered damage from firearms noise that could have been averted if 'noise suppressors' were more readily available.  Apparently, they've never heard of headphones.

Boebert, on the other hand, has recently shown up on Zoom with 4 guns (a pistol and 3 rifles) 'artistically' displayed in the background.  When called out on unsafe storage (she has four children, according to the article, and being only 34, I'm betting at least one is under 10), she asserted that those were 'ready for use'.

(On a funny note, someone subtweeted about this incident with a display case of BadDragon products behind him.  I'm not sure how I should feel about recognizing them.)   ;D

Hunting-quality earmuffs are readily available for $100 or less.

So good to see my Congressman attaching his name to this.

There is something strange happening in Scotland. Alex Salmond, the former first minister, who was for many years the leader of the Scottish National Party was accused of several charges of sexual assault but acquitted in a criminal case. He has said that these charges were part of an attempt by supporters of his successor, Nicola Sturgeon (who is from the same party!, and was once politically very close) to eject him from public life. This has raised questions about interference by politicians with the judiciary.

What is strange is how unionists of both the right and left have suddenly reversed their usual positions to support Alex Salmond, who would once have been their bete noire, as they see this as a chance to discredit the SNP and the campaign for independence.  Talking of strange friends, Salmond encouraged Donald Trump to invest in Scotland when he was First Minister, although he says he now regrets it, and in recent years has presented a show on RT, owned by the Russian state.

Such an awful story of criminal abduction and imprisonment at the highest state level. Britain is directly involved in this tragedy due to our need to keep the UAE as a "valuable trading partner and strategic ally".

For British politicians and diplomats to have been complicit in these crimes is sickening.
