here is an example of a basic map. I just tossed it together for something.

then from there you would have more indepth maps reflecting each "zone" you wish people to explore

Yeah, that sounds pretty good, but here's how I want the map to work:

Castle Interior: Blood Moon Manor, suspiciously and ominously bigger on the inside, with a massive Door in the main lobby, that only opens on the "Year of Demons." Demons emerge from deep below, and brave hunters make their descent within, to slay the arch demons within.

City Ruins: The City of Hunters, built over on layers of layers of previous cities that were destroyed when the demons emerged during the Year of Demons. This is now the 21st generation of the city, built on over 400 years of vain attempts to slay the arch-demons.

The Dark Forest: Corrupt and Evil Nature, the shadowy woods hide all manner of abomination, both natural and unholy. To get to the City of Hunters, one must brave themselves and be absolutely prepared, or die horribly.

doing that.. you will need multiple maps..  as progression in the rp continues. you can link an image to what they "see"  or the layout of say the woods..  if each grid is labeled they could then rp stating they are exploring grid xx.  in the ruins. to see if there is anything..   also if you can find imagery of say a castle entrance. you could add that before the map. saying you see this
as you get past the worn road off in the distance

(castle)

when you get to the main gate
this is what you see awaiting you

castle entrance itself.

then as rp continues..
the 1st map inside of the castle to allow them to explore

It could work in acts, each act with its own base and unexplored territory.

Act 1: The Dark Woods-Base: the Hunter Camp
Act 2: The Infested Ruins-Base: The Camp in Shade
Act 3: The Blood Moon Manor-Base: The City of Hunters
Act 4: The Plane of Apocalypse-Base: The Blue Moon Manor
Act 5: ??-Base: ??

Aye, that it could.. then with each act. you have images you have collected for visual ambiance.. till they get to area's that require exploring which then opens up the Map.  there are a few out there.. while I have a simple hex map system. there are others out there like this. which I wish I had software to

Yeah, that sounds great. I can't make my own maps because I'm on a phone, but I have a great app on here for maps. Once this game kicks off, I'll be sure to reserve a spot for you. Don't expect mercy from me during play, though. I try not to play favorites.
