""""""""   They had been married for 5 years, to the day, and before that they were high school sweethearts. She had known she loved him since they day he transferred into her junior high school two months before the end of eighth grade year. Her heart had fluttered and lept from her throat, she knew in that moment he was the one. Freshman orientation had been where it all started for them, she had grown up over the summer and was hard to miss so it was no accident that he knocked into her. From that moment on they were inseparable. Everyone wanted to be them, things just went so smoothly, so absolutely perfect, life was a fairytale; Good colleges, married three days after college graduation, perfect jobs, big house, great friends, wonderful neighborhood. Things were perfect, for the last 5 years they struggled to conceive a child, doctors said everything seemed fine with both of them that neither one of them should have problems get pregnant, yet for five years that's all they had been doing was struggling to have child. It cause fights in their once perfect lives, that's what they had been working for nearly 14 years was the perfect life to have a family in. And they had that perfect life, but no children. All they did was yell and scream and she did lots of crying, sex had become a chore, a job, and every month she started her period and failed her job.

Through out all of this, him blaming her, she still loved him.

Today, though, today would be different, Today marked their 5 year anniversary of marriage, Today they were going out on a date, Today she was supposed to start her period, Today she peed on a stick , Today she found out she was pregnant, Today she would tell her husband that after five years of failed attempts she was pregnant, Today all of their problems would be solved.

It was 6:32 PM she looked at her phone and took a deep breath, she was gitery from her toes to her finger tips. This was their spot, their favorite restaurant. He said he would be here at 6:30 and he was never late, but as the seconds ticked by she became mor and more excited. He walked in a few minutes later and her heart melted, in a way it hadn't for him in years. She wanted to blurt it out right then, but she didn't she wanted to wait for the perfect moment, the positive pregnancy test in her purse waiting to show him.

Something seemed so off about him, though, he seemed a million times more distant than usual, but she knew that distance between them would close as soon as she told him her news. Dinner went by like usual, she didn't order wine, wondering if he would think that was odd, but he seemed not to notice. They ordered desert, she would tell him as soon as they were done.

He said her name, it felt so foreign, sounded so strange coming out of his mouth, she looked up at him confused only to see his untouched chocolate ganache and a Manila envelope sitting in front of them. She stared at him for a minute so lost, he spoke before she could form a question in her head as to what was going on. " You know I have loved you since we were children. But these last few years have been," he paused and looked at her, this was going to shatter her and he knew it, but he continued nonetheless, " they've been hard, honey. You know it. I know it. This marriage hasn't been working. I'm not happy and I haven't been for a long time. I want a family, that's all I've ever wanted." She felt like a deer in the head lights as he continued on, "I want a divorce." There it was the car hitting her square in the chest, "I've been having an affair for over a year now," was she suffocating, "I'm in love with her, I want to marry her and start a family with her." All she heard was ringing a loud constant ringing in her ears, she couldn't breath.

All of a sudden there was her name again, that odd voice that spoke her name pulling her into reality. She looked from him to the papers he had pulled out of the envelope. She wasn't sure how long she stared this time, tears slowly started to pool out of her eyes and make a slow trek down her cheeks, if she was shaking before there was an earthquake going on inside her body now.

Today was supposed to be the day it all changed, but not like these. She opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out, she had no thoughts in her head, not that she could form completely. With a slow steady breath she reached down into her purse and pulled out the positive pregnancy test and set it down on top of the divorce papers. What else could she do in that moment?  """"""""

So this just came to me last night. Not sure where I want it to go, wither I want the my partner to write as him or someone else she moves on with or really anything besides maybe naming her Lillian, lily for short, and the story that I have up there. I want to discuss this with another creative mind and give it ago.
