This letter is to all of you who serve and have served in the honorable defense of your country, and to all your families.

My family and I sleep safe at night because you put your lives between us and danger.  Your sacrifices have unceasingly protected us from a swift and terrible darkness.  There are not words eloquent enough to thank you for that.

I know through time, politicians may have let you down, the media may have let you down, and your fellow citizens may have let you down ... but you have never let us down.  That I am alive and free to write this today is proof of that.

With deep respect and gratitude, my family and I thank you and your families for your service, your sacrifice, and your courage, and pray that you are never again called to battle.

We wish you all the best things that life can offer.

But most of all, we wish you peace.
"Ring the bells that still can ring and forget your perfect offering.  For there is a crack, a crack in everything.  That's how the light gets in."  Leonard Cohen

I am back for awhile, I hope.  My sincere apologies for the length of my absence.   Everything really does take longer than you think!
