The confederation of Midgard (Sci-fi Interest check)

Backstory:

Terra has fallen.  The news rocked the world as it shook into the heavens- Earth, humanities home world, had been destroyed.  For countless generations, colonies had been seeded to prepare humanity for survival of that inevitable day, but none beleived it could happen.  Nobody even knows what caused it, for the blackout was so rapid it was impossible to speak of

But with earth so too fell the United Earth Republic, the central galactic government for humanity.  With its fall came civil war, inevitably.  And with the fall of earth, colonies, acording to the UER charter, were free.  The corruption of the ages had risen though, and the cluster of stars around Midgard, an earth like world five thousand light years from earth itself, declared itself the new confederation- and drafted a brutal charter.  Among the laws- the poor and disposessed were ensalved.    The prettiest, of course, and most handsome (ANd exotically feminine males particularly, and females with a rough, handsome look...) Were sold as sex slaves to the new extremely wealthy.

In the halls of power, Midea Norfal, daughter of Midgards now dead senator to Terra, took command as a part of the council.  She has called for advisers and allies- and is known to be seeking a good former male slut (OOC: A potential slave character).

Story arc: Well mostly this would be a player driven game, but I would play both the world as a whole, through news broadcasts and such perhaps mostly, and Midea.  But there could be many possible archs- what happened to Terra?  What new wealth is driven?  Did the destruction of earth come from humans- or the long rumored aliens?  Or even something terrible and natural- a meteor perhaps.  My idea for Midgards new system would be a firm sex trade rapidly being established- and as there are no real poor that remain free, what kind of economy does it create?

A hopefully near equal number of master and slave characters.

I think I would allow up to 2 PC's per player if they were up to it, but that could be discussed if there is any interest in the game.

If any interest, ideas for  roles:
A security captain that Midea would trust with her life
A number of nova idle rich, and a few old rich, folks from the confederation
Traders and merchants
Some refugee's from earth and the surriounding systems (Preferably who were away- say students etc- and don't know what happened)
Slaves, of course, from any kind of background
Perhaps not ultra wealthy, but on the rise up- such as engineers who have developed a faster Faster than Light drive, or say flesh dealers.
High ranking soldiers
A spy

Few notes:
No alien sentient life has been discovered, officially at least- though it is possible the disaster was an assault on earth by the same
Humanity has experimented with its genes.  There might be catgirls, 'elf' like or 'dwarf' like men and women, etc.

I would still like to try GMing this.  I think it could be fun!

I think one of the reasons you're not seeing much in the way of replies is that the description is super broad. This sound like it would be a cool setting for an RPG system, but its not specific enough for a game/adventure. You also seem to have a lot of backstory in your head that isn't presented here.

I'd suggest posting this again later, but with a much more narrow focus. Say, Midea and her retinue trying to do X, rather than Midea and some people from anywhere in the universe trying to do anything.

OK, was remembering this and reread- I would still like to play it.  But of course as This One gal said almost a year ago now, it needs more direction.  So I w ould be Media and the GM- the story would be a group of folks hired by her to be part of a crew, on a ship she constructed  looking for what happened to terra.  If a system is needed, which I hope it shouldn't be, we could do D20 future or something i'm sure.  Roles I would like:
Medias formerly male slavegirl (Newly enslaved)
A security captain she trusts with her life
A smuggler or other 'blackmarket' or street character
A couple nova rich folks
Other ideas welcome

This does look interesting tho. Would a former cop turned  to the lucrative job of freelance slave hunting mayhaps work for this setting? (this would be your blackmarket street character )

works for me.  of course I would like a few players.  A terran cop maybe even? Was out towards midgard hunting a crook when the end came?
