Seeking RP based on Quintaglio Species.

I have been reading some Robert J. Sawyer, starting on Far-Seer and am just a few chapters in, but am quite interested in a story similar to the Quintaglio Species in the book. I want to make an Homage to it, more than just ripping it directly from the book to settle in something, especially since I always feel I'd miss intricate details of the books and rather just, you know, make something around the base.

Those curious, the Quintaglio are some Tyranosaurus-like reptile aliens that are semi-humanoid, or last this is how I interperate it. They have hands, intellect and stand fairly straight. This is how it will be set for the RP. I am taking up the general idea of their religion which worships a singular God in modern times with the belief that the world is adrift on a river. The God is worshiped through temples and does have a unique feature they have that they do a pilgrimage to stare into the face of God, along with other rituals and beliefs.

Now for the particular RP, I do want to play this race who I may or may not take the name directly from. The opposite I want to have is some kind of spacefarer whom happens to come along to the planet. The race is more primitive, still having society and rituals and books and such, but not having gone through any kind of industrial revolution as of yet, and mainly using tooth and claw as weapons. The spacefarer could be something you want to add, but I did want to have the idea that they are stranded at the planet, at first, and my character would be a younger one who hadn't gone through a pilgrimage, so may have considered the opposite to be the God (Advanced technology, coming from the sky, 'not like us' as the God was always described as unlike the native species.)

I'd basically set the scene, and have you interact with it! And maybe, go on further where maybe space-travel does occur when things are 'fixed' for the spacefarer.
