Also, just because I'm such a rapid Star Trek geek, I thought I'd mention my displeasure that all of you had dreams that featured X-Wings firing missiles (not torpedoes) and Tie Fighters (not Tie Bombers) doing the same...

SHAME ON YOU ALL FOR YOUR CHARACTERS' LORE INACCURATE DREAMS/VISIONS!!!

Disappointingly

Most ships that fire projectile weapons fire missiles, not torpedoes. To be specific they are called Concussion Missiles. These are the more common physical projectiles fired from ships if we ignore blaster bolts. Many ships, like X-wings, carry Proton Torpedo Launchers, and a handful of preloaded Proton Torpedoes.

These are used against particularly valuable and shielded targets, such as the bridge of a Star Destroyer, the exhaust port of the first Death Star, or the Reactor of the second Death Star. Proton Torpedoes are especially dangerous in ship-to-ship combat.

So it makes sense that Jedi would be trying to minimize collateral damage, while maximizing damage to the actual target. Thus using missiles but saving Proton Torpedoes as a last resort.

As for Tie fighters, shoes can be refitted with Missile launchers, or Proton Torpedoes as well, it's just often one see's them.

Ok, I don't want to come off as the jerk in the first few pages of the story....but if people could possibly give us a few paragraphs of text, information on your character, thoughts, fears, beliefs...much the same way that Togashi and A Person did that would really be a nice way to enable character development.  We haven't been playing these characters long, but there is an expectation that all of them have been at the academy together for along time already.  There should be things for us to read about your characters that will give our characters insight into how to act around or interact with your characters.

Writing two sentences about how you waited patiently in the council chambers for everyone to arrive doesn't enable good character development or role playing.

Ok....back to the show.

I... Might have a problem with that orderNchaos!

I've no problem detailing the movements and expressions but I'm not that good with the... monologing style seemingly used for forum games.

Showing more then telling I believe it's called. But I'll try.

Hmm.  I can understand that, Hexed.  It does take some getting used to.  One of the strategies I used for it back when I first started it was to think about shows like "The Wonder Years" or the like from a while ago.  It helps to narrate the situation from a first person perspective.  From there, it's not too difficult to change that dialogue to third person perspective!  Just in case you needed a place to start from if you're still struggling with it!

And Order, I don't think you're being a jerk to request a bit more detail about what makes the other characters tick a bit.  While the characters have been living with each other and know what motivate each other, we're outside the story and don't.  Since we're controlling the characters, it would help if we understood those things in order to make the story more believable.  I was going to wait to see how everyone reacted to whatever Luke was going to say before mentioning this myself just in case people needed a post or two to warm up.  I know I'm not too happy with how stiff my writing is right now.  It's been a while!

That being said, if we could get more detail in order to understand how our characters should be interacting with one another earlier, I would be happy to then start formulating impressions and connections between the PCs.

Would you folks prefer NPCs react/reply once everybody has had the chance to act/post or reply earlier if the NPC reaction could greatly effect the remaining players' posts?

As far as I am concerned, assuming we are not in a situation where we must take turns, then anyone should respond as they wish. So feel free to react as the npcs without waiting for me, at least.

The NPCs answering individual posts would allow others to have the answers to any questions asked, so they can have their characters respond to this information.  Beyond that, I'm good with any format.

Now do you folks want to do some more scenes for this day, or move onto the first adventure proper?

Well Aaron is off to clear his head in the Massassi Temple nearest the Praxeum. I'm fine with skipping ahead. It's really up to everyone else. I'm in a position to play with others, or skip ahead.

I'm with everyone else on the NPC responsiveness.

And as long as when we skip ahead it's not without Kessro's duster, I'm good. ;)

Ditto.  :)

And I wouldn't mind a few more posts about getting ready, but in general we shouldn't linger long.

Mack Daddy Skeksis wants to build  few memories before he leaves... lol

I'd prefer at least one packing post or even a 'get on the ship' post before we move on...

This period of downtime seems a bit directionless, so I'm going to advance us into the adventure in around 8 hours or so for those who want to get some more character development in at this stage ;)

Two questions:

Did Gasrel and Cinjin learn anything about Te'essar? (In between their flirting)

and

Who are " you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, and you"?  Because my choice would be to investigate the cult....

Okay a third question: Oerth and Athas?  Greyhawk and Dark Sun? <chuckles and is revealed to be an old school gamer geek>

My understanding is we pick the option we want. Even though he points out all ten players, he gives us two options. Find the Cult or find the Miners. I just assumed we would get to pick which one we go do. But we should split it up pretty evenly.

Anyone who did research on Te'Essar learnt that it's an active and reasonably populated system boardering the unknown regions, as previously mentioned it is under remnant control and was established by both Republic and independent interests just prior to the clone wars.

Secondly, there are over twenty vision-recieving Jedi present on this mission, it was pointed out in the council room scene, and was done so we could add additional players and/or replacement characters (if some die) later.  Master Katarn only picked your ten active characters to join him.

You are correct, as we are playing through a Star Wars adapted D&D campaign, one that had options for use with multiple settings no less, many familiar names and places will pop up.  Over the course of this campaign, you'll be visiting Star Wars equivalents (so there's no Gnomes, Beholders or Bugbears) of the settings for Greyhawk, Forgotten Realms, Dark Sun, Dragonlance, Ebberon and Ravenloft.  Lastly, the system is named for Gygax's old company TSR, which originally released any of the D&D settings :)
