So people, got three ideas. One is your standard issue Mandalorian. Big, bulky, with the theory that more Dakka is an answer to everything. Another would be a Jedi, aiming for the Jedi Shadow Talent Tree off the Jedi Knight PRC. Lots of pragmatism, not much mystical force stuff. Last would be a Saboteur as per the Force Unleashed Book. Tricky deceptive fellow, with a talent for making things go boom. Would any of those be stepping on someones toes, or sound interesting?

I vote Mandalorian!

... I'm biased though, because I love Mandalorians. xD

I was tempted to make one, but I decided to do something a little different.

My character, as I've stated before, is leaning towards the stealthy/assassin type build. She's a Scout now, and I'll be giving her levels in Bounty Hunter when I can. Her skills are focused on stealth, tracking, and finding a nice position to rain hell on the enemy with her sniper rifle. Though she's capable of fighting in more close quarters, her lack of constitution (being a droid) means she can't really take too much damage.

Alright, I'll avoid the Saboteur, to just avoid being in direct competition with Florence.

My girl is a starport street rat with a knack for mechanics and shock boxing.  By virtue of pulling herself up by her boot straps she has become a tech specialist and student of Echani Martial Arts.  :)

All of you are having really neat ideas. :D

Can't wait to see them put together and their backstories.  :)

As to anything else, don't hesitate to talk to me on any avenues I have listed in my profile or PM me too.

I can't believe I am getting this many interested :D

I am so excited.

Oh yeah, I can't remember, do you have to worry about licensing fees for equipment during character creation and all that?

I'm tending toward the Jedi, who will be heavy on Lightsaber combat, since I can't get the Jedi Shadow talents till next level at the earliest (and I'll probably take a form next level anyways.)

Guess that makes 3 :)

I may try a more Consular-ish build though, still not entirely sure.

Well, if we have 3 other people looking at Jedi stuff, maybe I'll go back to the Droid idea...

As some one new to the rule set myself, not sure but I think so.

Oh! And id talk to the gm about this, but one of the more exceptional Protocol Assasin Droids out there is the HK series, like HK 47. There is stats, and bonuses to them and everything in the Knights of The Old Republic source book. Perhaps your femaleassasin droid can share a lot of what the HK series has in bonuses? Like a DC 5 Translator, vocabulator, etc. Im actually playing an HK droid in a current game at home and loving it, id in fact jump at the chance to play another if not for your concept so, trust me you will love it ;) . Especially with your innate ability to deceive, even without a deception check. Just by the nature of appearing as nothing more then, a simple protocol droid. "Condescending Statement: Oh, dont mind me sir, im just a simple protocol droid. Im here to help in any way I can, be it translation or computer maintenance. Worried observation: Oh! Sir, something must be wrong with this computer system. Please, allow me to log in and run a system diagnostic...." (Shut's down the air filtration systems throughout the base, poisoning the facilities workers with the planets toxic atmosphere.) And that there my friends, is why an assassination droid disguised as a highly intelligent and individual protocol droid, is exceptionally deceptive and EFFECTIVE!

Actually a bit of advice is: It might not seeeem important to an assassin. But loooo'ts of Mechanics, and Computer use as well as stealth. Trust me. It helps to be able to hack into droids subroutines through a console, or manually override their hardware. It helps to use mechanics for well timed, planted explosives. And computer checks come in handy for, venting rooms with toxins or overloading generator's into massive ion/electrical explosions. As a protocol droid assassin, you can literally simulate yourself into almost any environment by the nature of simply being a droid. And weed out foes from the inside. As a proper real world assassin does. But more effective, as there is no need for disguise or deception checks. Based souly on the virtue of. "Dont mind me, im just an innocent little protocol unit like c-3p0. La da lada da."

Any way, I am thinking, and I may try to apply with a full on jedi knight, or ex Sith focused on duel wielding for that all to allusive long hilted lightsaber, like Darth Maul uses. Or perhaps a full on trooper, whom uses fully automatic blaster rifles, for suppression and tanking. Seems to be quite a bit of melee and assassins going around thus far XD

The general concept is an expert pilot and pistol artist, maybe a dual wielder.  Could be all Scoundrel, could be a Scoundrel/Soldier mix.  Being a pilot only takes two feats and leaves a lot of room for other things, after all!

Background-wise, possibly a daughter of a pilot in Gar Stazi's fleet, orphaned at the fall of the Alliance and pretty much raised in the fleet during its 7+ years on the run... at first a mascot for her late parent's squadron, then going out as a junior crew member on tramp freighter missions for supplies and intelligence.  She fought in the final battle but never had a formal position or rank. Now that the Alliance is a legitimate government again, she's lost her home and way of life, so is exploring the galaxy and looking for trouble on her own, possibly in a decommissioned scout ship/tramp freighter that was slipped to her.

Well, my assassin droid appears as a regular human :P

At the moment, she's not trained in computers, but is trained in mechanics (because, ya know, its good to be able to self-repair if needed), but I may consider retooling her a little to give her more intelligence. Maybe I'll take a little strength away. Right now, she has a pretty high strength, which comes in handy for melee combat as well as physical tasks like running, climbing and such... but it might not hurt to take one rank away from that to boost up intelligence for stuff like that.

Also do remember that there are other Force-Using groups out there besides Jedi in the Jedi Order.  You have the Jensaarai, the Luka-Sene, the Shamans of Ossus, the Witches of Dathomir (only the Nightsisters were Dark Side Witches), etc.  You have many options open besides just Jedi in the Jedi Order, now granted you would all pretty much have the same starting class which would be Jedi or something similar, but there is diversification besides just being a plain jane soon to be Jedi Knight in the Order.

Also you do have the Imperial Knights which are the Fel Empire's analog to the Jedi Order but are very staunchly loyal to the Empress.

Oh, sorry about that did not see that there.

To answer the question that would be a no.  Don't worry about licenses this time around, but anything after the game start you will have to pay for the licenses.  Also that means if you buy something military grade or higher, you better have a reason why you have it start of the game unless you are in the military.  Same goes for anything that is not a common or uncommon thing to find, like a blastsword, or sonic rifle.  That kind of stuff is not a mainstream item and/or hard to find.  So all I need is an explanation as to why you have it in your possession and I will be fine by it as long as you paid for it with your starting creds.

Any equipment like that Thali (She's designed to replicate a human, figured she'd have a proper human name and not like letters and numbers) has that's like that, I would probably explain as being things she's picked up on the job... as in... off of the corpses of people who DID own them legally.

My general idea for how she gets involved in all this is basically a sort of Suicide Squad type situation. She's wanted as all hell, given that she murderizes people for money. So, the Triumvirate spring some trap on her, capture her and are like, "Look, we're putting together an elite team. You can either be ON that team, or we can turn you into scrap :V" Considering that she likes not being scrap, she'd take the logical choice and join the team.

I'd be totally cool saying that the Triumvirate has some kind of self-destruct installed on her now to keep her in line or something like that.

Since it appears we have a bit of Force-Users going on at the moment I guess this means I need to post about what is going on with the Jedi Order at the moment.

THE JEDI ORDER AND OTHER FORCE-TRADITIONS

The Jedi Order has suffered many losses, from the devastation at Ossus, the Hidden Temple being well, not hidden, and the loss of most of the Jedi Council, the Order right now is rebuilding just as much as the Alliance and the Empire are.

With only Master K'Kruhk and Tili Qua being the only two surviving members of the Jedi Council, there were to be major revisions to what would happen to the Jedi Council and the Order as a whole.

With K'Kruhk nearing the end of his own long life and Tili Qua being what would be next of the Council, it was agreed upon to allow leaders of other Force-Using Sects that are not openly allied with the Alliance or the Empire to join the Council.  Afterall to paraphrase Luke Skywalker, to welcome these other traditions into the greater Jedi tradition of service so that all of their ways, woven together, will make the Order so strong we can never again be torn apart.  And this was the perfect opportunity to allow these traditions greater recognition and to expand upon the knowledge of the Force so long as it did not consist teachings of the Dark Side.

Due to the different hierarchies of these different orders, and how things were different in how one progressed in these different different traditions it was also decided to allow these different traditions to keep their hierarchies the same with the one caveat is if their tradition joined the Jedi Order wholly that each member would have to pass two tests in order to be able to serve in the Jedi Order as peacekeepers of the Galactic Triumvirate.  These two tests are the Knighthood and Master Tests.  While these tests do represent the hierarchy of the Jedi Order itself, these tests were made to be generalized in terms of skills, wisdom, and their walk in the Light-side of the Force.  While there is a written portion the main portion of each test is an observation test from three other Knights or Masters with one of them being from the tradition that the applicant is from in order to provide the other two observers insight into the applicant's world of view.  Those who pass each test are recognized by the Order and the affiliated traditions as Knights or Masters and are given the respect wholesale by each tradition that is deserved for an equivalent place in their tradition respectfully.  While it has flaws, so far the system has been running smoothly and those traditions who have joined the Jedi Order have integrated relatively easily into this system.  The main reason for these tests is to provide some semblance of order and stability in the Jedi Order and a sense of accountability in their role as peacekeepers.

The first tradition to be wholly accepted into the Jedi Order were the Jensaarai.  Their teachings being nearly parallel to the Jedi Order made adapting the armored defenders of the Suarbi system an easy transition, with the current and unnamed Saarai-kar holding a seat on the new Jedi Council.

The next in line to join were the Iron Knights of Dweem, being another offshoot of the Jedi Order from long ago, the droid/crystal symbiosis that is an Iron Knight were another easy choice for the Order to adapt into their own.

Other traditions that joined the Order were the the the Matukai Monks, Jal Shey Scholars the Baran Do Sages, and the Killian Rangers

There are others that have not joined the Order wholesale but are in the discussions of joining are the Keetael Hunters, the Luka Sene, the Order of Shasa, the Wardens of the Sky, the Tyia, the Fallanassi and the Zeison Sha are to name a few.  Each of these traditions are having varying degrees of success in discussions.  For example the Jedi Order has approached the Zeison Sha, but have been turned down due to the still longstanding embitterment the Zeison Sha have towards the Jedi.

The biggest group being discussed at the moment are the Witches of Dathomir, their primitive culture and clan like structure has prevented the Jedi Order from working with the Witches heavily and only gaining the support of a few clans.  To make matters worse the Imperial Knights who are not happy about the Jedi Order being the big boys at the moment are trying to bolster their own ranks and see the Force enriched natives of Dathomir as prospective candidates as well.  In addition with Marasiah Fel holding the throne as a strong female leader, this appeals to the matriarchal society of Dathomir greatly.  There are a few Witches who have joined the Jedi Order and have earned the rank of Knighthood, but there are no Masters at the moment.

The ideas presented were actually proposed by a Jedi Knight now turned Master from Serenno, by the name of Isandril Dooku.  Just like his ancestor, Dooku had a way with words but unlike his ancestor he shined in the Light brightly and earned a reputation as an inspirational leader during the latter days of the Sith-Imperial War.  This accepted idea put Dooku on the new Jedi Council that would have nine seats based upon the merits and wisdom gained by each seat holder.

Dooku proposed nine seats as it allowed an odd number of seatings to prevent any even splits in the Council should there be any issue that would cause the Council divided and require a vote to decide which direction to go to.  As of now, there are only five members on the Council while the other four seats are open with prospective candidates being looked to join their ranks.

THE JEDI ORDER AND THE ANTARIAN RANGERS

The Antarian Rangers during the days of the Old Republic was used as a means to assist the Jedi in matters and manners that they may or may not excel in.  These-usually-non Force-Sensitive members would provide a multitude of roles for the Jedi Order such as piloting ships for Jedi who may not excel as pilots, extra fire support, being a guide in areas unfamiliar to Jedi going to a region they are not familiar with, to even being something as simple as a translator.  The Rangers were there to support the Jedi Order and are now doing so again in the days of the Triumvirate.  The Rangers main base is the same as the Jedi Order that being on Ossus and sharing bases with the Jedi Order spread across Triumvirate borders and stationed at the home of the traditions that have joined the Order wholly as a sign of goodwill and support.

Joining the Rangers is not an easy decision to make, as per the rulings of the Triumvirate, those who do join the Rangers are afforded the same privileges of the Jedi Order as peacekeepers but they have to forego any prior allegiances just like the Jedi Order.  Additionally to prevent anyone from just wearing a blue bomber jacket that the Rangers wear and pretending they are a Ranger and to prevent vigilante justice, the Jedi Order is held responsible for anything the Rangers do.

The Rangers are led by Ranger General Boris Navesk, a human hailing from Ord Mantell.

You can also count Knights of Ren these days in the list of different force factions, though thats outside of the extended universe and in the new movie. Oh! And then theirs the Selkaths Order of Sasha.  lol. I get what your telling me, however I think simply stating Jedi or Sith is just an  innocuous form of stating "Saber wielding force user". In terms of that, if I do make one, Id probably make him a force independent. Like Jolee Bindo from KOTOR. Jedi class, but currently independent of said faction.

I would try to avoid mixing and matching EU and Disney Canon for the most part, as it sort of creates a very murky timeline. (even more than the EU already is!)

Plus, we really don't know all that much about the Knights of Ren, apart from the fact that they're like... dark side users.

lol, Never said we should use the Knights of Ren, sorry to confuse you. When I stated they are a part of the movie  and not a part of the Extended Universe, that meant just that. The sentence leaves it to be assumed that they wouldnt be a part of this. I only referenced them to continue listing off the ever growing list of different force factions, between the different mediums such as books and games, cartoons, movies. etc. They are different continuities, I know this and understand this, hence classifying the new movie as the new movie, and everything else as the EU. (Extended universe.). None the less, only made a passing reference not a declaration there should be knights of ren. ha ha :P

I think JJ did say in an interview they were trying to find a balance between the light and dark side, when they fully went dark. But other then that, there is nothing else I can add. lol, so ya not much really is known. Also, I really never said we should use them, only referenced them, and the Order of Sasha in passing.
