2018San Francisco, California.
The object hovered over the city for the briefest of moments, just a fraction of a second. It seemed to hang in the air, to defy gravity for a split second. It was an orb of the purest, brightest blue light. After halting, it flashed, seemed to explode. It bathed much of the city in it's pale light before dropping to the ground, revealing itself to be some kind of strange crystal - though now it was devoid of any light, inner or outer. It was a simple hunk of grey rock. It's miracle had been spent. People, seemingly at random, were granted unique super powers. The riots that followed lasted days. Given incredible power, many of these people turned to crime. After all, the only thing keeping many ordinary folk from killing and stealing is fear; fear of not being able to do it, of getting caught, of being punished. With powers that defy physics and the very laws of nature, some took to a life of crime. Others attempted to become ad hoc superheroes. Yet this path is also fraught with peril; some died in their attempts at doing the right thing. Not everyone is combat trained, not everyone has the mental fortitude, the stamina, the skills, the moral compass to be a bringer of justice.
After the events, the government rounded up all those that showed signs of powers. They enrolled them into the Titan Project, a program designed to teach these individuals to sharpen their powers and to use them responsibly. It was an unmitigated disaster. The training was brutal and much like being in the military. Only two entrants from the first batch of candidates actually ended up making the grade. Lina Lyons, a former police officer highly decorated for her valor and bravery in the line of duty was the first. She became a paragon of justice named HercuLina. Gifted with super strength, super durability, and the ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound. She stands as a beacon of righteousness and is and example to all of what a hero should be. The other passing candidate was Wade Welles, Navy EOD specialist, a smoker, frequent drinker, a brash and slightly arrogant woman who's Navy training has been enhanced with super durability and the ability to control fire.
And thus America had it's first two Titans. Real superheroes.
But The Titan Program needed work. It needed a less brutal training regimen to help accommodate the ordinary men and women that were given these gifts. It needed better ways to weed out poor candidates than written tests and obstacle courses. It needed... funding. California, the mecca of creativity that it is, came up with an idea. A reality show. America could watch these new supers training, living together, competing against one another for these coveted spots on the Titans. Three open slots for America's first super team. Ten 'contestants' in this new batch and only one winner gets a coveted spot. Who would win? Who would lose? Who would sleep together? Who would betray who? America would soon find out, all on live TV. What I'm Looking For
A small group of players to play this new batch of contestants on this 'Super Hero Reality Show'. All the heroes will be living together and, much like any other reality TV show, there will be periodic contests. Winners get immunity from being voted out. At the end of several events, the overall winner will be decided. We do not have to have ten players - we can NPC some, or just cut down the number of contestants. First, you'll need to pick some powers by clicking this link twice - http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Special:Random
- You're on the honor system here! Don't cherry pick! Go with whatever you get and be creative with it. I'm just looking for creative writers that will be able to dedicate some time to this RP. You must be able to post frequently. If you think you have too much on your plate as is, please do not apply. That said, here's a template and example profile for Wade Welles, one of the NPC's. TITAN PROJECT CANDIDATE - CLASSIFIED FILENAME:
5' 11"BODY TYPE:
Fire Manipulation (http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Fire_Manipulation
) - Wade possesses the ability to control, generate, and resist heat and flames on a level yet matched by any candidate put through training by the Titan Project. Most users have difficulty controlling the ability, but Wade seems a natural. Her power generates flames by exciting the very atoms in an object or the air, causing it to burst into flames. BETA POWER:
Supernaturally Dense Tissue (http://powerlisting.wikia.com/wiki/Supernaturally_Dense_Tissue
) - While Welles' Fire Manipulation seems to give her some resistance to heat and flames, most of it comes from her supernaturally dense tissue. Her thicker skin, muscles, and tissue make her extremely resilient to damage and conventional weaponry has limited effect on her. As a side-effect, she is much heavier than her slim frame would imply. BIO:
Wade Welles was born to Amanda and Joseph Welles. She seems to have had an ordinary childhood, for the most part. Her father, now deceased, was a naval officer of some distinction. Her mother died of surgical complications shortly after Wade was born. With little supervision, Wade stopped attending school and turned to petty crime. She seems to have run with the wrong crowd for quite some time and has been convicted of two counts of robbery and one count of grand theft auto. Her father eventually convinced her to join the Navy, which she seemed to take to. Miss Welles excelled in her new environment and took to combat training quite quickly. She eventually joined the EOD and served for quite some time before being dishonorably discharged for disobeying orders. While she seems to rebel against authority and projects a rough exterior, she seems to be eager to help others in need - if only for the chance to get into a fight. PERSONALITY:
Welles exibits a brash personality. She is self-confident bordering on arrogant. She will take the first chance to jump into conflict and her combat training often lets her come out on top. While she enjoys fighting and action, she also seems to enjoy her down time quite a bit. When she gets into these lazy moods she can be hard to motivate. She acts rough, but has a bigger heart than she lets on.
