Petty Officer 1st Class (PO1)Appearance:
Ally's short-cropped brown hair and sweet face does an awful lot of good hiding the hashbrained woman underneath; a simple look at her fairly well-built, slim body and large, innocent dark eyes would nary tip off how easily she can swing from the kindhearted kid to a ball of flaming fury.Personality:
Your opinion after spending just a little bit of time with Ally on a lucky day is that she'd a bubbly, seemingly sweet girl that's a joy to have around and smart as a button, if just a bit strange. Given an hour or so, you start to realize that she can be more than strange at times-quite nonsensical, really. A day or two and things begin clicking into place, provided you haven't run away very fast from her.
Ally has the spectacular lack of luck to be afflicted with a form of high-functioning autism that only has only been able to occur thanks to her mixed heritage. Left untreated, it causes her to be a hyper-energetic individual with mood swings from a carefree, sweet as sugar young genius to an absolute nightmare child who flies into rage at the slightest anything. In order to function normally in society, she has to regularly take a specific set of medications to help keep both her personality swings and hyperactivity in check, mixed into a cocktail with a telesuppressent that severely dampens her natural psychic abilities in order to prevent stray thoughts of others from triggering a psychotic episode. Alliana speaks Federation Standard, Vulcan, Betazoid, Trill, Russian and Romulan.History:
Ally's childhood on Betazed was, much like-and thanks to-her mental state, a metaphorical rollercoaster. From practically the moment she could speak Alliana showed what appeared to be the symptoms of ADHD, constantly proving unable to focus on much of anything and acting quite destructively as a toddler. Around the age of two, however, this diagnosis was called into question after a year of medication had failed to work, and she began to display both great difficulty with communication skills and odd tendencies towards repeating certain inane tasks hundreds of times a day. A series of psychologists determined that her symptoms were more akin to High-functioning Autism than anything else, albeit a form with other, more unusual traits thanks to her unique brain chemistry.
All through her younger days Ally was required to take medications designed to help stabilize her personality, ones that proved more or less effective in preventing her from being a danger to anyone. The private school she was sent to was in fact the perfect place for her astounding intellect to shine through-by the second grade her talents for anything related to math and engineering were abundantly clear. As she entered adolescence, however, she experienced a sudden spike in outbursts and fits of rage that went explained for several years. It wasn't until age 14 that her parents realized Ally's budding telepathic abilities were causing her to pick up on random snippets of thoughts from others that triggered blind, nonsensical fits of violent anger. A completely new cocktail of medications including a telesuppressant had to be created, one with new medications that were markedly less effective at keeping her socially stable.
The day she turned 18 Ally flew into a typical bout of rage that ended in her packing up some bags with some clothing and an unholy amount of tinkered-on junk and run straight out to the nearest Starfleet Recruiting Station. Despite having to do a run-around to pass the medical and psych exams, an IQ in the 200s range was enough to get her successfully enlisted as a Propulsion Specialist. Basic training flew by with carefully medicated ease, and soon her hashbrained little genius mind, a slight bit calmed by the discipline of boot camp, was assigned to the Ambassador-class USS Cartwright
near Bajoran space.
After four years working as a somewhat reclusive engineer, Ally ended up on a simple away mission to BMR-329, a volcanic world in an isolated back corner of the quadrant, that went completely to hell as the survey team Alliana was with came under assault by alien creatures covered in a black, billowing fog. In ten minutes all but Ally had been killed by the mysterious attackers, the engineer barely escaping to the seeming safety of the shuttle with her life. A quick transport returned her to the Cartwrigh
t, only for the aliens to come after her by catapulting via unknown means out of orbit and right into the cruiser's hull.
It took less than an hour for most of the crew to be wiped out by the unknown assailants, relentless hordes of endless fog-like beings that simply ignored any phaser used against them. With every officer dead and the remaining NCOs losing their minds out of fear, Ally was an oddity in her relative calmness; while certain scared, she remained level-headed enough to think of a plan that would stop the aliens in their tracks and end a potential threat to the Federation in one foul swoop-bring the Cartwright
into low orbit and blow up the planet.
Her plan was not terribly complex. Take a subspace sensor, disable every single safety feature, feed massive amounts of power through it via the warp core and create a supspace singularity with such mass as to draw the entire planet into it like a black hole. The rest of the crew never lived long enough to argue against her insane scheme; entirely alone and unable to stay in once place more than a few minutes for fear of her life, Ally just barely managed to set the Cartwright
on course towards the planet, set off a highly impromptu subspace weapon and escape into a shuttle. Her getaway, despite the mangling of one alien managing to cleave off her left arm, was a success, moving her off from planet as it was sucked into a rift in subspace.
A week later she was picked up by a passing Starfleet Intelligence vessel on an unrelated assignment in the area. Following a marathon debriefing and replacement of her lost arm with a robotic prosthetic, it was decided that her creation of something resembling an Omega Particle weapon and single-handed genocide of aliens that might have killed thousands of innocent civilians had they escaped would be covered up, and the Cartwright's destruction blamed on an accidental warp core breach she survived due to being off the ship for probe recovery work. At her insistent request, Ally was allowed to choose a new assignment where her talents would have a chance to be put to good use; eventually, she settled on the somewhat slower-paced life of work on a science vessel, becoming the new Propulsion Specialist on a comparatively far less dangerous USS Zhukov
