I was going to post here today. Yeah.

It's been two weeks now and I did not get the interest I was looking for.

BUT, if you all were willing to run a single warband, I think we could cobble together a small group game.

I'd still love some feedback on the game. I know that dense crunchy stuff can often scare people off. Or was it the narrative/competitive writing part? IDK.

Anyway, y'all let me know thoughts and I'll hit the Ol Writing Board here.

There wasn't anything I found particularly crunchy, but I'm used to both way heavy RPG rules sets and different tabletop wargames. Others might be able to give you better feedback on that stuff than me.

Run as a single warband you mean? I'd be up for that. Or each person just running one?

I believe it would be all of us in the one warband, with the PCs controlling the important characters, and NPC redshirts :)

Yes, that would be the idea, but that also doesn't seem to be pulling enough interest. LOL.

I guess the problem with one warband is everyone wants to play different things. So how would it work out?

shengami

You'd all have to discuss and agree on one faction. That's the way it'd work. I'd probably then have the PCs play the heroes and generate some NPC henchmen. My brain has done a bit of noodling on it, but not a lot.

The other option is that I take in some feedback, tweak the game, and come back with it later. I'm super not done with this idea, but I think I can retool it for 3-4 warbands. But that's going to take work. The threshhold was important to have enough variety for the non-story rounds to have variety in matches. 3-4 warbands is workable, the story line would be shorter, and the narrative would have less room for teamwork, but it's interesting. 3-4 warbands would also require me to be a lot stricter on allegiances. It'd basically mean that I'd need to openly advert for a split between order/destruction/chaos.

The big question I am worrying at right now is if the narrative combat is what scared people off more than anything? I can put into a set of mechanics for combat, but it'd take ton of work. LOL. Alternatively, I can veer the other way and make it less crunchy. No sure.
