Daggermouth

I'm back after an unspeakably long hiatus, and in addition to desperately trying to revive much loved, decades-old stories have space for a handful more. I'm an RP lifer, erratic poster, love to plot, always happy to wait until the muse re-emerges for you.

A few of these are plots I picked up here, or based on stories we once tried to get off the ground, so if you spot something of yours here and want to revive it you are welcomed with delight.

Equally I've met some insanely compelling writers here - if we know one another from some defunct story I'd love to start over with you.

Cravings

A journalist newly assigned to the global conflict desk is flown out to a war zone and assigned a Close Protection detail, a bodyguard, among the soldiers. Perhaps YC is an urbanite, political, a touch idealistic, although of course that's for you to decide. MC doesn't trust his motives, is a little stiff, keen to give him a sanitised tour and keep him safe but also to hold the line. But this is deep in Don't Ask, Don't Tell and MC finds it's more than a distraction, having this writer behind the lines. There's a few ways this could go: I'm open to some illicit romance during the tour, to a betrayal where YC's article isn't what MC expected, but also open to a slower scene. Maybe they just get almost-close-enough-to-touch and the real scene starts when they bump into each other as civilians?

A Young mage stuck in the sticks runs away with the circus in a vaguely American, historic, travelling circus setting. When he's discovered he talks his way in, puts together an act, but when the head of their little troupe realises it's not an act he has a dilemma. He's already got a little too close to YC, but he has to safeguard the rest of his party, and it's hard to imagine keeping this secret for long. In my mind, despite playing magicians all their lives YC is the first real magic-user they've ever stumbled upon, and there are consequences for keeping his secret safe. (Please no historical accuracy, don't come for me)

A psychic reluctantly calls a tip line and gets tangled up with law enforcement, with one cop in particular. The tip works out, and despite everything the cop can't help but feel there's something to it despite the impact this has on his world-view. Years later he calls YC when a difficult case is running out of steam and for all the horror, there's... a spark. The difficulty is, getting in to these gory cases takes a real toll on YC, who wants to help but runs the risk of being traumatised, taken over by his powerful and fragile gift.
