I have a craving for a military action game, be it modern day military or sci-fi military (like Halo or Aliens or an offshoot of either... or both). I enjoy well developed characters with believable personalities and motives wrapped around hardened, bad-ass military types (soldiers, mercenaries, outlaws... whatever) inside of a story driven plot with the potential to branch off into side missions or sequels/prequels. Not looking for smut, so much, however some romance and intimate interactions can certainly take place, however I would prefer to keep the intimate action to a minimum, if possible, and focus on the story and the action.

I'm out of practice and definitely need to sweep out the cobwebs, I have a busy home life and a rusty and fickle muse at times, but I would love to find such a game with a leisurely post rate that I can enjoy without feeling like I'm holding up the game and frustrating the other writers.

I know this is a lot to ask, but I hope this finds some interested writers ( a small group, say three or four tops) and a GM.

Thank you.

Edit:
The game doesn't have to have aliens in it at all. It just happens that the two examples I named do. It could be something more realistic and modern, like special forces in a foreign, hostile country trying to prevent a national or global crisis from coming to fruition, or something like... Indiana Jones/uncharted kind of thing as well.

O/O and ideas - write if you'd like to be Krennic for Dedra or Jyn or Syril for Dedra (Andor/Rogue One)

Less f***ing, more shooting, eh?

There is potential in it, for sure. Although some kind of guidelines would be necessary to settle down on something. A small-ish group, let's say 3-6 people seem reasonable to gather, and in turn dictate the size of the military team, or at least the playable characters in it. Meaning it's unlikely the story will follow a platoon in a full scale war. Well, maybe adjusted by casualties? Could be a rough campaign and the ones left are survivors with no way of being rotated out and replenished with fresh people to fill the ranks...

Sticking with the number of PC's, ideas that come to my mind would be:
- crew of one vehicle, potentially a cool one;
- a squad behind enemy lines, maybe shot down from the sky en route somewhere;
- a special operations team, possibly one of several who act independently on a given mission but ending up working towards a common, larger goal.

Just my initial thoughts, really. Feel free to have a go at any of those concepts if you's like to.

I have a story with my friend Azaco going that might be right up the ally for all three of you honestly.

TBDS-Sins of the King We are a dimension spanning group of paramilitary specialists tasked with maintaining the balance of the multiverse by various means. From wiping out a target fucking around in a world not it's own to playing in the shadows guiding someone down the path in history they are destined to take.

We are a very small group of five people, but two are in the weeds right now so we are very much open to any number of new people and considering our ranks are pulled from every conceivable canon the options for who can join are really wide open. So far we have a bunch of OCs, but we also have a Space Marine from 40K and a pirate Captain from the Dragon Age games.

And we are very much a story focused group, Az and I have the main missions and end game already figured out and waiting to be unleashed. Right now we are actually doing character building side missions so it would be a perfect time to jump right in.

Yes, less f***ing and more shooting, but not just more shooting. More scheming, planning, conniving, maneuvering (be it political, financial, power play, etc.) and maybe even some backstabbing, not necessarily amongst the player characters, but within the greater, controlling powers-that-be, resulting in continued or more intense struggles for our intrepid cast.

I'm liking where your head is at, Raven. I'm thinking a smallish group (in part so that it won't be too overwhelming for me easing back into a group game) and not all members have to be military-types. It could be a military or paramilitary group, (or groups) perhaps returning from a mission or on the way to their current mission when some disaster occurs hurling our cast into a dire situation and forcing them to work together to survive and get back home. Or, They could be a military unit babysitting a remote outpost and are ordered to move on a target to prevent a cataclysmic attack or event. Maybe they're not military, but they are the closest humans to a very remote location and are requested by their government to intervene. Maybe they are former military and working as civilian contractors somewhere. It could be set in a futuristic space setting, or it could be a modern setting and our team is sent to someplace like Kosovo or Syria or Iraq or Ukraine or something like that.

I'm not up to being a GM myself, unfortunately, but, this is sort of what I'm looking for.

I appreciate the info and the invite, Wilderness. I've looked over the info on the OOC thread and it sounds like an interesting idea. However I feel that your game is bigger in scope that what I am looking for. It seems to include a mix-n-match of different eras with different species of characters and a lot to learn about the multiverse and various timelines. I would prefer all player characters be human. I have never been able to get into books, movies or anything that involved anthropomorphous player characters, and the same goes for what I write. Ultimately, I feel that the setting would be too vast and overreaching for me to try to fully grasp and be comfortable enough to write in.

Thank you again for the invite. I wish you and your fellow writers the best of luck and a blast of fun in your future story-writing.

a Space Marine from 40K

Got me till that point basically. Space Marines require an insane amount of logistical support in the long run, and even short term, where does he get the Bolter ammo and Holy Promethium for the chain knife? Not to mention plasma cells for the Power Armor, which he can't take off without special tools and skilled help. And that's before we consider pulling a Marine from his Chapter and him not fighting for the Emperor, which are his 2 main pillars in life.

Ahem, sorry, got my Heresy sensor flickering there. As far as the people involved have fun, it's all good. I just wouldn't be able to look past that, I think.

Back on the actual topic, I'm not an experienced GM, but I whip up plots and characters easily enough. I just suck at names, and confidence in peddling my ideas and stories for others to play in. So, going in a less special forces angle, a remote outpost scenario seems interesting. First, they have limited resources so it's not like they can just steamroll everything in their way. Second, it allows for a variety of characters who aren't professional soldiers, not necessarily. The main thing to consider is the reason for adventure, though. Is it something mundane, alien or weird, like dunno, zombies or such. Which way do you feel like moving the most? Were talking in general terms for now.

Haha very well mates. No worries at all, can't catch any fish if you don't put the line out.

Best of luck with your brainstorming and thank you for your time!
