Thank you guys, that was helpful indeed :)

Although now I'm wondering: the PCs have the extra "wild die" when making rolls. Does this mean that, effectively, the PCs have all skills at d6 by default? Because, even if some skill is lower than that, they can also roll the extra die and apply its result, if it's favourable...

Alright, I'm mostly done, but I have three more questions:

1. I'm not quite sure what does Common Knowledge represent?

2. As we're playing humans, we *are* getting a free Edge, right? Or is this rule non-applicable, as there are no other races around?

3. Do I need to spend points on Language, if my PC knows only her native language?

All right, here goes - my character:

Ashley Morette

Attributes: Agility d6, Smarts d8, Spirit d6, Strength d6, Vigor d6
Skills: Academics d8, Athletics d4-2, Common Knowledge d8, Driving d4, Fighting d4, Healing d4, Notice d6+2, Persuasion d4, Research d6, Science d4, Shooting d6, Stealth d4-2

Pace: 6;
Parry: 4
Toughness: 5

Hindrances: Heroic, Clumsy
Edges: Alertness

Current Wealth: $500

Background: A daughter of a small-town sheriff, Ashley grew up idolizing her father, who instilled a strong sense of responsibility into her. At the same time, she also suffered from being ostracized (and occasionally bullied) by her peers, who didn't like her intelligence, claimed she had a stick up her butt (for not being "fun" and not engaging in typical reckless teen behaviour) and, in general, took out their grievances against the town's police on her. That led to Ashley developing an angry streak, which started getting her into trouble (and actual physical fights) as she grew older. The fact that she started noticing that her father might actually *be* somewhat authoritarian, didn't help with her emotional balance, either...

Currently, as a young adult, Ashley managed to dealt with her issues... somewhat. She doesn't lash out at people anymore and she's learning to reconcile her love for her father with being critical toward some of his views and behaviours. Overall, she's passionate, responsible and compassionate - although also not very forthcoming when it comes to befriending other people.

1: Common Knowledge represents knowing everyday facts.  For example, if a clue had a name on it of an NFL football player, Common Knowledge would let you know who he is.

2: Yes, you get the free edge as a human.

3: You would know your native language for free, if you wanted more, you must take them, d6 is fluent.

Just waiting on one last character, I messaged them to see where they are at, and we have standby, so hopefully soon things will get rolling.

I am going to give the last person I am waiting for on a character one more day.  After that, I will begin getting my ducks in a row and try to make the opening post on Friday evening.

Tonight when I get home from work, we are going to start preparing to launch the game. I will create an OOC thread in the extreme small groups board, and I will give the three of you a couple days to post your characters there, so they will be the first posts at the top of that thread for easy reference.

Ah, bummer, discovering this game way too late. Ah well, hope you folks enjoy it!
