This is an interest check for a game that I've been working on, though I'd like to make sure there will be sufficient interest before moving forward. If you're at all fond of the Magical Girl/Guy genre, take a look at the game concept below and let me know your thoughts.

The chronicle will be a writing-focused game inspired by material including Madoka, Sailor Moon, Star Driver, Magic: The Gathering, and Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. No knowledge of these inspirations is needed. 

Players will be invited to create a typical teenager going to highschool (within E rules, obviously, so at minimum 16), whose lives have been altered by becoming Shardbearers, keepers of ancient magical energy crystallized within glass. Like the "magical girls (and guys!)" this game is inspired by, these characters will develop both magical powers and supernatural prowess with a bonded weapon. They will learn that the island where they live is not--and has never been--what it seems. The perils of coming of age, socializing in school, dealing with parents, and discovering themselves will at times overshadow, and at other times intertwine, with new challenges that hold the lives of those that they love (and at times the very world) in the balance.

Players will be asked to select their character based upon five different shard types. These include the white keepers of order, be they popular kids or religious devotees. There are the green lovers of life and nature, and the red brashness belonging to bullies and future leaders. The purple shardbearers challenge society's conventions with questionable morals, while the blue shardbearers approach the world with an intellectual, if sometimes elusive approach.

As these shardbearers interact with each other, fellow schoolmates, and those that they know on the island, they will learn that long ago powerful magic was sealed away due to the corrupt nature of humans; now the corrupt work to unseal it, seeking to use it for the worst of purposes. As the chronicle unfolds, corrupt magic will leak out, leading to encounters with beasts and monsters of legends, creating danger for the players and the need to battle to protect themselves and others. There will be moments of levity and character growth; still, as they grow up in the world, characters will likewise be faced with grief, sadness, and the possibility of their own mortality.

Character generation will be based on a system, but lighter. I do not expect any dice-rolling on the part of the players; outcomes will be decided by the GM based upon character abilities and the occasional GM-made dice roll to ensure an element of randomness.




Thoughts, questions, interest, general 'wow that sounds horrible'? Figure I'll find out if there's enough interest to make a proper recruitment thread, at least! If this takes off there will be a fair bit more information available in the recruitment thread, as it is I'm trying to keep this brief.

Not at all! This is just an interest check to see if people are actually intrigued by the plot or not, the actual recruitment thread will be up within a couple of days and I'll link it here. It should have a fair bit more information in it.

To some degree it'll depend on the players. I would say as it's E there will certainly be SOME, but equally I suspect the overwhelming majority of the actual eroticism will be between the players as opposed to say, NPCs or what not getting involved. If someone wants to take over an NPC and write a scene with one or something that's something I'd consider allowing, but it isn't a case of 'By base the enemies are going to be tackling and molesting the players'. Make sense?
