Hello! I've been bitten by the bug for fantasy but everywhere I looked it was Non Con, Pathfinder or just not something that really interested in me. So I decided to start building my own world and I realized shortly after building it that I have no idea what I want for the players to do in the world.

So I thought I'd come up with the history and design the world and then hand it over to someone else to wrangle the players.

About the only thing I have to finish up is the history, the population, tech levels and magic levels of the different countries. And honestly the exact breakdown of the population is probably overkill but the tech and magic I feel would be appropriate since I like to have Airships, though I don't want guns this time around. :) More traditional fantasy over my love of Final Fantasy 6 style.

If anyone is interested, here's what I've got currently.

It would be my desire to play as well as providing the lore and NPCs to the world.

That's a cool map, did you make it yourself? :)

The link you posted goes to a brief list of gods - was there supposed to be another link to the larger document with the history?
A book, a woman, and a flask of wine: /The three make heaven for me; it may be thine / Is some sour place of singing cold and bare — / But then, I never said thy heaven was mine.

Of sorts. I went to a website and kept generating until I had one I liked. ^_^

And oops. Try this one.

You ought to link said map website. :P

I dipped into your setting documents a bit (on work break, can't read much). Your writing seems well-organized, but clicking on the link to find like ten different documents is intimidating - you might want to consider a quick 'elevator pitch' document, maybe a couple of paragraphs to slam out the core concept, with a brief list of playable races / nationalities.

Unfortunately, no matter how good it is, your setting will face the same problem as all other 'fantasy heartbreaker' settings - yes, you've put a lot of good work in, but why would someone sit down and learn another elves-and-dwarves fantasy setting when they already know [Tolkien / WarCraft / Dragonlance / etc]? Your answer to this question should be in your elevator pitch document, if you want to coax someone on E into running it for you.

I would also pay a lot of attention to generating problems in the setting that GMs/players might be interested in. I.e., if you have an elf queen and an elven nation that's quick to judgment and anger - have the queen be kidnapped, and the elves declaring war on a nearby nation right away because their suspicions ran wild. Did this nation do it? Do the player characters want to punish or defend this nation? Do they not care about this situation, until they recognize a melancholy bride in a vampire lord's court?

Less, "this subtropical nation exports legumes," and more "the Black Gate King seeks the return of his legendary sword," or, because this is E, "succubi organize a labor strike on behalf of all sex workers."

You've raised valid points.

But I was hitting a bigger problem of information overload. So I'm taking a break from that project to narrow down the scope.

My problem was I wanted to GURPS it so that anyone could pick up the system and have literal any plot going on in the world if they wanted. Giant Kijau type monsters that can destroy the world? Yep. Gods threatening a rebirth? Yep, got that too. Political intrigue? Why certainly. Need to stop a mass murderer? Yep. An army of undead are threatening to engulf a kingdom? Those fiends!

With so many different focuses it was getting out of control and so, as you said, the elevator pitch was going to be just a rambling diatribe of me being like "LOOK AT THIS COOL STUFF! RUN IT PWEASE!"

;) World build is fun, but if left to my own devices I tend to get carried away very quickly.

As long as you're having fun, you're doing it right!
