Ultimate Truth or Dare

Premise:

I posted a vague idea in the One-Shot requests regarding a Truth or Dare scenario inspired by a short film I saw (Link Below). It is much more intense than the version we all played in high school. I immediately got a response and, after talking, we thought about expanding the idea into a game. I’ve never managed a game on a forum before, but I have done it on Discord and it would not be hard to learn the rest. I would obviously not be the only one either. So what I’m asking is does this idea interest anyone else?

I have tons of ideas for this. But games are about what the group wants, so I don’t want to set anything in stone without some feedback. The film gets darker as it goes on and I don’t think this game would be viable if it goes as far as the film does

(I don’t want gore, death, or excessively violent acts, but there is still the possibility for injuries from some Dares)

. Still, I want to hear how far you would like to see it go. Once we get a consensus, we can start to form more definite rules and boundaries. However, I would anticipate both sexual and non-sexual dares, personal questions, and reluctant or non-con acts of all kinds. After all, the point of TOD is to test people’s limits!

Ideas:

-A place to submit Truths and a separate one to submit Dares.
-We could develop a rating system so people with different limits can participate. If necessary, we could even split the game into “Moderate” and “Extreme” versions so the two communities are not forced to co-mingle.
-While this page is fairly plain, if the game becomes reality, I will definitely develop the aesthetics and layout. If others wish to contribute to that as well, please message me.
-This could work in a few different settings including high school, college, a party, or some kind of underground thing.
-If you don't want to choose a particular player on your own to interact with, we could make a "Spin the Bottle" type of app which will select a character for you at random. This keeps one person from getting all the attention and may make people feel less awkward about choosing someone or never getting chosen themselves.
-A place to suggest both Truths and Dares for others to choose from. They would probably need to be categorized based on content. They may also need to be reviewed if people try posting stuff that is way over the line, even for here.
-A randomizer could be developed for drawing pre-submitted ToD's. I am not sure if we should work strictly on drawing random cards with them on it like in the movie, or just make it available for people. Giving people the option of making them up on the spot for each post might be too risky or lead to just bad ideas. What do you think? I can see pros and cons to either option.
-We want backstory for these characters. So we will need bios and interactions outside of the game. Perhaps a separate Forum will allow us to explore these characters and their interactions. This way if people join the game late, they can still create characters and join in. Or we could make the game a weekly event and have story to fill in the in-between.

-I checked and, while I have seen small games of TOD included in stories and games, I have never seen one devoted to it. Have you?

Depending on the setting and story, having 'truth or dare' as a main premise could be interesting.   However, I'd want the truths/dares to grow organically from the interaction in games and history, because it's the intimacy that turns it from what is basically a soulless game of chicken to something potentially heart-pounding.   That might be, however, hard to manage in a group game, with varied pacing and scheduling.

When we make the characters, we could put some background information in their bios which explain a little of their relationship to each other. Then in the game we can build off those foundations to create that intimacy. We can also start the story a little before the day of the game and use that time to show some of the interactions between the characters. That would also build up the anticipation for the game and make it something they're all nervous but excited for.

I think you're right that we won't care very much about what they're doing unless we understand and care at least a little for the characters themselves. Then we really know when they're outside their comfort zones.

Its a brilliant idea and as we discussed on IMs, I am definitely interested. So, how many chars do you think one person can submit. I am thinking of playing one male and one female.

And while I definitely want this to go non-con and extreme, I also dont want too much violence, gore etc.

I wouldn't object to picking 2 characters. I would be interested in doing that myself, though we need to keep it within reason (we don't want one person controlling half the characters or having someone just keep writing stuff between their two characters all the time.

I thought about what our max limit of players should be, but I am not even sure if there needs to be one. We could theoretically reach a point where we have no choice but to split it off into multiple simultaneous games, but I think the more people we have, the more opportunity there is for unusual pairings and creative ideas. It would also leave room for people who get selected for a TOD but can't post for a few days

I have seen group plays where there is limit of 2 characters per person. I guess thats reasonable.

So how will the question or dare be chosen by chance? Dice roll to choose from a list that is maintained?

Yeah. Himan Furniture, Bondage, Objectification, Sissification etc lot of kinky things can be thought of.

We're definitely getting some interest, but I think we will need a few more people before I devote the time to setting everything up.

I have thought of a few new ideas since posting this though, and have added them to the initial post's ideas section. Keep your suggestions coming because I read them all and want this to appeal to as many people as possible.

Regarding randomizer, we can simply make a compiled list and use dice to get a random number. Same way with choosing person.

When you spoke of the ToD film I thought you meant the horror movie that came out a couple of years ago, which I've been meaning to turn into a less violent game for a while now. That one had a demon running the game
There would be no bottle or circle, but a huge turn based cycle and people are given dares wherever whenever their turn comes up.

As for limits, for a game like this I would be willing to test and be forced out of my/my character's soft limits if other players would agree to do the same. Which means, if we're speking of adult content, have my character be dared into acts with females or sisification, otherwise doing mildly violent or dangerous dares- according to people's comfort levels.

I think for a game like this all the participants would need to state not only their hard limits, but also soft limits that they are willing to forgo when they are challenged to stretch the ends of their comfort zones. These lists should be shared in a more private environment (say the OOC thread), in my opinion. This game would also require post-by-post tagging, to make sure people have the opportunity to opt out of reading posts that would make them inconsolably uncomfortable.

Also, I'd definitely prefer to have it on discord instead of on the forums, but that's just me and my preference of a faster pace posting. It's not a deal breaker for me.

I have no problem with MxM or FxF and would expect a few dares to go that way naturally. I don’t want to exclude any genders or orientations. But if people post limits against homosexual or heterosexual interactions, that would obviously need to be respected.

Every question/dare will have to be tagged so if one is drawn, it we can compare it to people’s limits. I have considered splitting the game into 2 levels, One being more extreme than the other. But we don’t have nearly enough people for that and if we tag correct it should be ok.

I plan on making a character page. Each character will need a profile and as complete a list of limits and O/O’s as possible. This is to ensure the comfort of the character’s writer, as well as the person they are interacting with.

Regarding Discord, while I love Discord and am more used to it, I don’t think we will find enough people who are interested. We could have a separate game there, but I would need help finding enough people for it. If you disagree, let me know and we can look into that as well!
