Beyond the Rift (Star Finder, AKA Star Jammer interest check.)

I Am looking for up to six players for a adventure set in a custom universe using the Star Finder, AKA Star Jammers, system. Details will be listed so players can brainstorm their various ideas. I simply ask all players try to communicate with each other as my adventures tend to require a cohesive party.

What i am seeking: four to six players with creative minds.

What you can expect: I will happily work with anyone to make their concept come to life, but i will put my foot down if i sense you are trying to break something. I run my world with the logic that if you think you can win even in the worst odds, but running in blindly will get you killed almost every time. Combat will not be my only focus, so if you want to be something less punchy then i will be sure to include something more your speed.

The story thus far: You wake in an unfamiliar medical bay and will son discover you are trapped on a ship crewed by pirates. Seems you have been press ganged by a roving space pirate faction.

Character creation: All players will start at Level one. Basic point buy starting out, 25 pts to be sent to increase attributes. Note, At level five in star Finder you get to increase 3 attributes instead of one. Any class or race long as you run it by me first. Also note i am open to homebrew content, but will have to work with players to make sure its not going to ruin the game. An 3rd party material will require extra time as i may need to find the source unless its provided.

HP and vitality will be determined using the rules found in the Star Finder core book, if there is confusion on that please ask.

Equipment: Since the Star Finder system can be a bit annoying due to level restrictions on gear i understand frustrations there. i will be allowing tech up to 2 level height than players character levels. you still will have to pay full price, and building tech will still be limited to the regular rules. However if players choose to make their own tech i will work with them to make sure it has a unique and beneficial feel. Example, player wants to make a double barrel weapon to fire two rounds per shot, very well, but it will incur regular two weapon fighting penalties even though it is only  single weapon

Adult content: I want this here just so people don't get confused or mistaken. I will include adult content of all kinds. some of it sexy, other parts more horror based, but all of it will be subject to the players. If you are uncomfortable with this please refrain from applying. therwise i hpe to hear from any and all players soon.

Just to clarify, when you say 25 point buy.  This is 25 discretionary ability points instead of 10 listed in the core book pg. 18 or is it 25 point buy following the pathfinder point buy?  I wanted to clarify before I built the initial concept.

Brief Bio:  Rhia is the face of any group she joins.   Quick thinking, loaded with charm.   She is liable to sell you your own re-breather while your using it'  More then a pretty face and double talk is brought to the table with her.   She is also quite the tactician and strategist, in laying out plans and executing them.    Of course those same laid strategies are not usually associated with combat.   As Rhia is fond of running cons, smuggling.   Nor is she a leader.  Well not directly,  she is the steadfast brilliance behind the one that claims leadership of any group she joins.   While she wears many hats, entrepreneur, con-artist,  smuggler, trickster, debutante and even heroine.    She has no grand plans or schemes.   Nor is she  one that is inherently evil.   Perhaps chaotic in nature.   

It is good reason she is such.    For Rhia is a well-known courtesan.  A icon with in the known areas of space.   The escort that is on demand.  The ornament everyone wants draped on their arm.  Yet her heritage of race shows in her endeavors.   As she looks and seeks out new cultures to move through upon the social ladder of the new culture. 

Thus Rhia path has taken her to the outer  rim of known colonization of space.    Where stalwart explorers,  frontiersman and the criminal element such as space pirates exist.   Where she is just another pretty face.    Her renown a distant memory in these far reaches.

Just thought I'd chime in, there's no level restrictions on gear, a level 1 character can already use level 20 gear if they have access to it.  The levels are just there to help give you an idea of what you should have based on what level you are.

In Starfinder, all armor, equipment, and weapons (whether magic, technological, or hybrid) are assigned an item level. While characters can utilize items of any level, Game Masters should keep in mind that allowing characters access to items far above their current level may imbalance the game.

I am more referring to the fact i would like to avoid players going to the extreme and under stand that tech will be available based on the appropriate factors. Thank you for the input though

Its as described on page 18 of the core book. I tend to let my players build with extra points as it allows them to feel powerful, but not break the rules. Please make stats as you see fit within those rules.

Anatoli
Race: Android
Class: Mechanic
Theme: Roboticist

Anatoli has the look of a maintenance model android.  Where ease of repair is prioritized over human appearance.  Either a prior occupant of his shell, or Anatoli himself at one point provided maintenance in a fairly hazardous environment, likely in a less then voluntary fashion.

He has been developing his reputation as a security consultant, either helping to plan out the security, testing individual components, or providing the test plans for the more capable infiltration agents to verify the security.  The actual infiltration is a separate contract the owners have to contract out, Anatoli doesn't want to be accused later of planning a heist.

When he is between consulting jobs, he servers as a one stop shop for repair of anything non-magical.  He has an intuition for how things go back together, mechanical or organic.  Thus far it's served him well.

An update for interested parties. We are already at 5 potential players, as a college of mine has expressed interest. I will not reserve spaces for those who do not post, but am going to count him as part of this untill otherwise. I am also extending my number of players to 8 if we hit the six person mark before Wednesday. On Wednesday i will be making the forum for character sheets, and linking it here, and the first official post should follow shortly after. Stay tuned for further updates

Alright, here's my first draft for the character. I believe everything should be in order.

H3R-SH3

Race: Android
Class: Operative
Theme: Space Pirate

H3R-SH3, or Hershey for sake of convenience, is a high-end model android, incredibly human in both appearance and personality. Little is known about her early life, as she was discovered on a derelict colony ship by a group of scavenging pirates. Apparently there had been a catastrophic system failure that had killed all of the organic inhabitants, and rendered the ship inhospitable to all but the android inhabitants.

With their superior fire power the pirates were able to take control of the ship and capture the few remaining androids on board, and while they either scrapped or enslaved the majority of them, they took a particular interest in Hershey. It was clear that she was an expensive model, but it was hard to determine exactly what she had been initially built for. Her beautiful sculpting, meticulously detailed body functions and...flexibility...suggested a pleasure droid, but during the raid she had shown a surprising level of fighting prowess, and further inspection even discovered weapons built directly into her frame, which would obviously suggest a combat model. Ultimately they chalked her up as some weird hybrid project of an equally rich and lonely hobbyist, and decided to put her abilities to use as a member of their crew.

For a time she seemed fully subservient, enthusiastic even in her service to them. She would spend several years as part of the pirates' crew, gaining trust and influence with the captain, and over time becoming one of her most trusted crew members (and most prized possession). Though despite her happy go lucky personality and her innocent, almost ditsy demeanor, the crew would discover that she was not so subservient after all, and behind the cheerful facade was a cold, calculating machine that had spent years waiting to enact revenge for the crimes against her original shipmates. After a particularly lucrative haul, one that got some of the crew talking about possible retirement, the crew would wake up the next morning to discover the life support systems had been turned off, the entire console ripped out. As the only one who didn't need to breath, Hershey was the only survivor, dumping the corpses of her captors and using the spoils to bribe her way into a larger pirate crew, happily living her life as a swashbuckling star seeker ever since.

Please note i will be putting this game in the extreme section to cover my bases as i tend to include some graphic details should i need to make a scene feel a little horrific. Ignoring the prejudice usually thrown at hir kind, the heavy arms specialist has made quite the profitable life for hirself by manning the guns of various smuggling vessels and providing some extra punch in the defense of communities beset by raiders.
