  Tales of a City
Tales of Passion, Drama, Danger and Urban Grit

  Introduction

Hello there, Delicious Friends!

So, I've been struck by a small bundle of ideas, that (unusually for me) fall more in a Contemporary/Slice-of-Life/Drama-kind of setting, with the occasional sprinkle of crime thrown in for extra spice. All these plots are set in the same, fictional city, a setting I, admittedly haven't quite worked out yet, but which I hope to flesh out a little more over the course of these stories. That also means, that there might very well be some overlap or an opportunity to tie a few, if not all of those plots together, be it through shared characters or just locations or events. So these tales could work either as stand-alone stories, or parts of a bigger arc.
If we keep the setting modern Modern or throw in some 80s/90s-Retro-Flavour (which I always adore) is up for discussion.

The plots are (partially) phrased in a gender-neutral way, since I'm quite flexible about pairings and character's gender, although in some cases I might have something specific in mind. In any case, I'd be more than willing to discuss the finder points and adapt and fine-tune the plots together with my partner.
Same goes for which character I'd like to play. I might have some preferences here and there, but I'm open for alternative suggestions.

As for additional details about me as a writer, I'd go the lazy route here and point to my general request-thread here and my Ons/Offs here, which should cover all the basics.

So without further ado, here are the plots:

The Lost Art of the Twilight
Themes:  Art vs. Commerce, Forbidden (or at least very inappropriate) Love, Mentor/Student-Relationship, Escape from Crime and Poverty
Plot:
Character A is an older, quite successful comic-author. They came from rather humble beginnings, but thanks to an abundance of both luck and talent, they managed to make quite a name for themselves. As of late though, they have been struggling a bit, at least creatively. Their latest works sell quite well, their publisher is very happy, but they just go through the motions to churn out well-selling shlock. And they hate it, almost as much as they hate their fans, who buy and praise the lackluster, corporate-approved stuff they churned out to pay the rent, while everybody seems to have forgotten the genuinely inspired work they used to do...

Character B is a teenager (within the boundaries of site rules and good taste, so 16+) from the bad part of town, just a few blocks from the run-down apartment-building, where Character A grew up. Unlike A, who made something out of their life, B is clearly struggling. Young, with little perspective, a troubled home-life, some dodgy friends and and a few minor run ins with the law. But also a fresh, creative mind, some artistic talent and the desperate need for escape...or at least escapism.

These two meet during an autograph session at a local comic store. A is politely smiling and nodding, while signing their name on the books they would love to burn, until B turns up in the queue, to have a worn out copy of A's first (and to the writers opinion: Best) comic signed...and a question that has been tormenting A themselves:
"What happen, man? The new stuff is garbage"
And that is as far as B gets, before being dragged out by the store's owner...Apparently, after stealing a few too many comics, they're not welcome there anymore.
But A, intrigued by that encounter, tracks B down and a sort of mentor/student relationship develops between the two, reigniting A's creativity...and igniting some dangerous other passions...
Kinks:  Age Difference (obviously), aside from that I'm open to various things.
Notes:  Pairing-wise, M/F would fit pretty well, with A being the man, but I'm open to other options as well. I've a slight preference for playing Character B, regardless of gender.
If plain Slice-of-Life seems not spicy enough, throwing in some sultry and adventurous side-stories about the comics these two characters will undoubtedly cook up together, would be an option too.

  Love, Death and Taxes
Themes:  Childhood Friends-to-Lovers, Organized Crime, Redemption
Plot:
Character A and Character B grew up together in the same small town. As kids, they were inseparable, best friends...and they even fell in love, though at the time, neither of them was brave enough to confess their feelings, something both regret until this day. After finishing high school, they lost track off each other though, despite heart-felt promises to the contrary.

Many years later: Character A has just gotten out of a messy divorce, got a new job as an accountant and a shoddy little apartment in The City. She is more than ready to turn over a new page and start a new chapter in her life....Then she meets Character B, who turns out to be her neighbour (or at least lives on the same floor). A takes that as a hint of the universe and is more than eager to reconnect and rekindle the affection they had for each other so long ago.
Character B's life did take a bit of a different turn after school though and through a serious of unfortunate events, she ended up as an assassin for the local mob. A job she is quite good at, but doesn't particularly enjoy...And something she would like to keep as far away from A as possible....
Kinks:  Open
Notes:  I'm envisioning this as an F/F-story, but could be convinced to change that with some compelling arguments. Also I've no preference in which character to play here.

A Lonely Rider on a Swift Horse
Themes:  The Gritty and Glamorous World of Illegal Street Races, Fish-out-of-Water, Possibly Discrimination?
Plot:
Character A grew up on a Reservation in one of the Dakotas. Her mother was a teacher, her father owned the only gas station around, so she grew up around both books and engines, although her talent lay more with the latter. Then her father died and a few years later, her mother remarried. This time a young lawyer, who did some pro-bono-work, assisting the tribe in on of the endless legal battles over land. With that dispute settled, A's new stepfather returns to his law firm in The City, taking his wife and step-daughter with him.

Needless to say, the change from life on the reservation to life in the big city was quite radical, leaving A a bit lost, confused and not quite happy with their new status as "Urban Indian". Her experience with anything with an engine and a bit of a rebellious streak quickly draws her to the local street-racing scene...
Kinks:  Open
Notes:  A bit or open of an idea than the rest. Who Character A meets and gets tangled up with is open for discussion. I'm somewhat set on playing A myself (I spent waaay too much time researching Lakota culture to give that up^^' And no, not just by re-watching "Thunderheart")

  The Devil's Advocate
Themes:  Corruption, Country Guy in the Big City, Crime, Courtroom Drama
Plot:
Character A is a young lawyer from a small town, who recently managed to get a job with a big, respectable (?) law firm in The City. Once in the city though, our young, idealistic lawyer finds out that "justice" isn't really a concept his new boss values very highly. But the pay is good and the glimpse he gets into the decadent lifestyle of the rich and morally questionable as a certain appeal...
Kinks:  Open
Notes:  Again a more vague plot, with some flexibility for the details. And yes, this is mildly inspired by the movie of the same name...

  Obsessions
Themes:  Exploration of Sexuality, Escape from Everyday Life, Infidelity
Plot:
Character A is not-quite-freshly married and has just moved into The City, due to their spouse's new job. As she settles into her new life in a new city and with her spouse working long hours at their new job, A finds out that one of their new apartment's windows offers an unobstructed and perfect view through their neighbours window....who turns out to be (apparently) a professional dominatrix.

Coming from a rather conservative background and somewhat stuck in a loving, but quite vanilla and overall a bit unfullfilling marriage, A is both a bit shocked and very intrigued by the things she witnesses there and develops not just a curiosity, but almost an obsession with her neighbour and the fascinating world of leather, ropes and whips she catches glimpses off... An obsession, she finally decides to follow.
Kinks:  BDSM, Adultery
Notes:  The story centres mostly around Character A and their journey to explore a kinkier lifestyle, ideally in more of a switch-y role. If that includes an actual romance with the neighbour or not is up for debate, but either way it would probably include some other side characters as well...And what role A's spouse plays in all that is another question.
