I love pathfinder, but once in a while I like something less combat focused. Luckily now I can have both. War for the crown is an adventure path focussing on courtly intrigue, diplomacy, spying and bribery.

In the war for the crown, players assume the role of loyal citizens of Taldan, each invested in the country in their own way. You might be a may be resource-strapped gentry trying to look out for your tenants, a reformer who hopes to make tomorrow better, or a selfish schemer who wants to climb the social ladder. Whatever your background, when an opportunity to reach your goal presented itself, you grabbed it with both hands.

The Grand Day of Exaltation compels to gather in Oppara even if they must travel from the far flung corners of Taldor or beyond to do so. Minor nobles, ordinary citizens, and even peasants try to make the trip at east once in their lives to see the capital at its most convivial. Some citizens of Andoran, Cheliax, Galt,  Isger,  and  Lastwall countries  Taldor  still  regards  as  wayward  colonies cross  their  nation's  borders  to  enjoy  the  fireworks,  parades,  feasts,  and  sporting  events  that  fill  the  week  leading  up  to  Exaltation.  Entertainers  from  across  the  Inner  Sea  region  journey  to  Taldor  to  capitalize  upon  the  cheap  food  and  generosity  the festivities encourage. Even residents of nations beyond Taldor’s former colonies have reason to visit this cosmopolitan trading hub. Tourists and opportunists can find the same appeal in the spectacle of the Exaltation, but the week is business as usual for the year-round flow of trade. Oppara’s ports see an endless succession of trading ships arriving from and departing toward Absalom, Rahadoum, Druma, Varisia, and even Taldor’s former enemy Qadira—though Keleshites may find equal parts hostility and hospitality when they disembark. This is a week when important treaties are signed and trade  deals  negotiated  against  a  background  of  wine, music, and raucous color. And just as Oppara attracts politicians and strangers, it attracts schemers and criminals aiming to take advantage of both.

Adding to this year’s excitement are rumors that the Taldan senate will finally vote on the matter of Agnatic investiture: Taldor’s ancient law that decrees only male heirs may inherit their families’ titles, lands, and the authority that comes with both. Its repeal would be an enormous step forward for all of Taldor’s women and people of other genders. Furthermore, it would give Taldor its first official heir since the accidental death of young Prince Carrius 20 years ago: The Princess Eutropia. Regardless of which side of the issue a given citizen supports, nearly every Taldan is passionate about the vote, and waiting for the results with bated breath.Wherever your character hails from, two things bind you to your fellow adventurers: the aforementioned desire to save Taldor from itself, and a woman named Lady Martella Lotheed. Whatever brought you into the public eye your own political ambitions, a sports victory, a protest also earned you the attention of this young schemer looking for fresh talent for her own growing web of intrigue. In exchange for your service, she offers coin, new clothes, and invitations to one of the most prestigious social events of the year: The Exaltation Gala, held in the senate building. Anyone in Taldor needing a favor, an ear to bend, or a patron can find one during this annual event, as senators and nobles alike gather for hours of food, wine, and music, as well as for official senate business to be conducted before the Grand Prince arrives to formally exalt a citizen. No matter your feelings on the busywork the Lady Lotheed has in mind, these invitations represent rare access to high society and networking opportunities that can change the courses of lives.

Some ground rules to make this campaign run smoothly.

Character generation:
Only good aligned characters. I might accept a LN character if the story is good enough.
25 point build
two background skills per level
Three traits, one of which must be a campaign trait from War for the Crown.
Everyone has the flaw hedonistic (likely 80 percent was going to pick it anyway)
Starting gold is maximum starting wealth for your class
HP maximum at every level
All Paizo material allowed, no third party material.
core races are allowed, other races to be cleared by me on a case by case basis.

Other things.
Please work your campaign trait into your background. Your history, your motivations are way more important than in most campaigns so take a moment there.
If you join you agree to the following:
-Minimum of five posts per week
-Absences are communicated to the GM
-Characters whose writer is absent for more than seven days will be temporarily played by the GM to advance storyline.

This game will be in Non Con exotic, though I assume most sexual encounters will be consensual.

Five players will be picked on the 28Th of March. They will join my own DMPC on this marvellous adventure.
ons and offs

They left their home of summer ease
Beneath the lowland's sheltering trees,
To seek, by ways unknown to all,
The promise of the waterfall.

I'm gonna register my interest right now. Been a while since I Pathfindered. Might try my hand at buckling a few swashes. Or unbuckling. I'm not picky.

Name: Ashlynn Durant
Race: Human
Class: Swashbuckler

Ashlynn Durant was already a troublesome child before her family's precipitous fall from grace. Despite being the eldest Durant child, the outdated primogeniture laws of Taldor prohibited her from inheriting any of her family's wealth unless she married. Refusing to be measured by the wealth of the dowry she might fetch, Ashlynn took to making herself as unmarriageable as possible. She scandalized the Taldane elite by cutting her hair short, favouring pants over skirts, and otherwise flaunting every "polite" standard of womanhood.

In this regard, she idolized Princess Eutropia, who had cultivated a rather unladylike reputation of her own, and her enthusiasm may have swayed the Lord and Lady Durant into supporting Eutropia's bid for the throne. In doing so they earned the ire of Maxillar Pythareus, who sabotaged the Durants' reputation. Indeed, it did not take much to spin Ashlynn's reckless indiscretions into darker rumours. She had, on occasion, had dalliances with visiting Qadiran merchants and princes. Pythareus used these affairs to implicate the Durants in a Keleshite conspiracy against the throne.

Their reputation in tatters, the Durants fell into utter disgrace. In a way, this came almost as a relief to Ashlynn. She'd utterly destroyed her prospects at marriage, and that suited her just fine. She threw herself into ever more reckless, scandalous behaviour. Yet she also felt a deep guilt for the damage she had caused her parents, even if she knew Pythareus would have just found some other material to smear their name.

Ashlynn has racked up quite a rap sheet over the years—largely things that would be swept under the rug without a second thought if not for her gender. This includes, but is not limited to: unsanctioned dueling, soliciting a prostitute, public indecency, and at least two counts of sullying a nun. Her sexual proclivities are broad, and largely focused around transgressing Taldor's overly conservative social mores. She fancies herself quite the rake, and prefers to chase rather than be chased, to woo rather than be woo'd. She doesn't care whether man or woman, elf or dwarf, so long as she sees a challenge in the pursuit.

Character Ons: Nonhuman humanoids, men, women, "innocent" personalities, "repressed" personalities, anything that might stir up scandal.
Character Offs: Non-con, misogyny, "tradition", being the submissive

Player Ons: I'm a giver. If my partner is having fun, then I have fun.
Player Offs: Gore, bathroom stuff, hard non-con.

Note: It's been a while since I rolled up a Pathfinder character. Let me know if I forgot anything. Or if encumbrance is gonna be a big deal. I'm technically toting a medium load right now, with just weapons and armor.

Callie Del Noire

Name: Nisha Pelrou
Race: Vishkanya Female
Class: Rogue

Nisha is the second born child of Manish and Lisha Pelrou, officially alchemists for the city of Oppara. Well to do given the steady work and contracts they fill for various merchants, nobles, the city watch and occasionally the Grand Prince’s household; their true wealth comes for their service to the Empire as Lion Blades. The Pelrou family has served for at least four centuries in Taldor as ‘subtle blades’ or official assassins to the Crown.

Nisha hasn’t quite finished her training with the Lion blades but has been judged taught enough to return home and assist the princess as her mentors see the need for Taldor to change before things unravel and the Empire looses more of its territory and standing.  She is currently assisting the princess as a go between a lady noble with ties to the Pathfinder Society and the Princess’ staff. Some of what she has passed on she suspects is intelligence to convince reluctant senators in the up coming vote to consider the Princess’ reforms.

While her clans outlook is quite pragmatic, they typically consider talent over gender, she tires of foolish nobles looking down their noses at her and hers. There are few in Opparra who have done more to keep the Empire stable than the Lion blades and she’s poisoned (only to a sickened state) or stealthily shaved more than one foppish noble while in training

She looks forward to being done with training and getting out and about.

Hmm. I realise you said no 3rd party, but I was hoping you'd let me bring a sister of rapture into this campaign. I've been dying to try one for ages.

Name: Caesonia Basri
Race & sex: Human (Taldan) female
Class: Sorceress (Imperious bloodline)
Campaign trait: Child of Oppara (with Noble Scion as the human bonus feat)
Alignment: Neutral Good

Caesonia is a noble scion of the powerful Basri family. Because of the family's connections, elves from Kyonin were regular and interesting visitors when she was growing up, though she has yet to travel there herself. She had an early fascination with history, and her parents encouraged this study: scions of Basri were noted diplomats and travelers, and were expected to be knowledgeable about the lands around them. Caesonia read everything from dry accounts of historical events, the biographies of famous historical figures, and the exciting journals of noted explorers.

Like most Taldan nobles, she liked to believe she was directly descended from the semi-mythical Azlanti, though her family didn't follow the pretentious affectation of adopting Azlanti names. That belief received dramatic confirmation when her intense study unlocked a long-buried ancestral Azlanti magical bloodline. She could feel arcane power filling her. Her parents were shocked, ashamed, and horrified in equal measure: studying magic was respectable scholarship, but not gaining magic from some mysterious... source (they could really make the word 'source' sound vile and corrupt). They had a point: who knew where such powers really came from?

Their original plan was to keep Caesonia safely cloistered until they could marry her to some minor noble. When Caesonia came of age she had other ideas and different plans. She wanted her freedom, and didn't see why she should hide away. She was going to make a splash!

Caesonia dreams of an exciting life. As much as she enjoys reading, there's more to life than libraries. While she has the easy self-confidence, even arrogance, of being part of the nobility, meeting elves has given her a more cosmopolitan and relaxed view of the world. She can see the virtue in a strong social structure, but also in personal freedom.

Her magic is mostly used for her own convenience and comfort; should she need to defend herself, she can fall back on her family training with the rapier, in which she is quite adept.

(My Pathfinder is a bit rusty.)

I feel like Caesonia and Ashlynn would make an excellent buddy cop duo. The sheltered socialite and the loose cannon who doesn't play by the rules!

LSWSjr

I’d be keen to play someone’s half-orc bodyguard/servant who plays up her feral nature so people are less assuming of the fact she’s spying on them :)

Ashlynn's probably not the type who'd want a bodyguard or servant around. Unless her folks assigned a bodyguard to keep an eye on her, and they've reached an agreement of sorts. Something that lets Ashlynn get up to trouble within reasonable constraints.

Callie Del Noire

Or you could partner with the Snake woman agent and be a follow agent of chaos and mayhem in Taldor. :D

LSWSjr

Well I was thinking of having my half-orc be a LG (LN if approved) monk with a high Wis, so she’d be able to detect threats to her master without having to worry about smuggling in weapons or armour.

Cheers

I could see a lot of humor in Caesonia and Ashlynn being put on a mission together  :-)

I'm putting together what's either gonna end up as a bard or mesmerist

Edit: ...At least until I remember exactly how many bards I've played in recent games. Back to the drawing bard. Er. Board.

Pretty much got a god spread. From what the players guide says it’s a social/political ap

indarkestknight

Damn. War for the Crown is one of the APs I most want to run or play, but I definitely could not meet the five posts a week requirement.
