Personality: Marina can really be quite bashful as she's not accustomed to being around non-aquatic species, but once she gets to know a person better, they will find a young woman that is exceptionally kind and warm hearted, she is a very bubbly girl that loves to laugh and smile and will often try to help when someone else is miserable or sad.

Marina is very spunky and feisty, she's not afraid to dive headfirst into the unknown or jump into the fray when a friend is in great need... she might be scared shitless in some situations, but it won't stop her if the circumstances are bad enough.

She is also extremely curious about the world above the sea and finds it almost irresistible to investigate something new she's never seen before... which can sometimes be rather dangerous for a mermaid too overcome with excitement and a burning desire to learn.

Strengths:

Open minded and Loyal~ Marina will never ever judge a book by it's cover, she will get to know a person and see who they are on the inside and she will stick by their side through thick and thin. This allows Marina to make lifelong friends and allies.

Bullheaded Courage~ When it's really important and Marina knows it, there is nothing that will stop her from moving forward and doing what she feels in her heart of hearts is right and she absolutely must do. Even if she knows it's very, very stupid...

Inquisitive~ When Marina does not know or understand something, she will ask. If she is curious, she will investigate. Be prepared for a lot of questions.

Bright minded- Marina loves to learn and absorbs the new information she acquires like a sponge.

Weaknesses:

Sea legs- Marina sometimes gets a little bit wobbly on her human legs and will occasionally lose her balance... she's gotten used to taking a wee tumble...

Naivete- Lily was brought up very sheltered and protected by her father, she can be quite naive sometimes, if not a tiny bit gullible. On occasion, she doesn't know when to keep her mouth shut.


History Marina was born the fifth eldest child of King Neptune... out of eight children in total... it was safe to say in the presence of her much more aggressive and dominant mannered siblings, that Marina didn't get a whole lot of their parent's attentions. Neglected was more like it, she was just the odd child whom refused to drown or devour a human and wouldn't use her aquatic powers to destroy ships...

For the longest time, Marina just lived in the spot she'd always believed was her place in life, just out of the way and doing her own thing making jewelry from pearls and beautiful shells to sell in the art square of the market place, just living her own life and simply not trying to draw any royal court attention to herself.

Unfortunately... life does not always go to plan... especially when you happen to be royalty and ruthless social climbing nobles look at you as a push over easy way into the royal family...

This wad of whale cum was none other than Nautilus Oceanmist, the son of a Duke whom happened to hold high favor with Marina's father... and he's been watching Marina for some time now, just waiting for her to turn 200 years old, the age when merfolk maidens came of age to wed...

Her father came to her the morning of her 200th birthday and did not ask her, but announced to her that in two weeks time, she would wed Nautilus Oceanmist.

Knowing full well what kind of merman Nautlius was, Marina knew she couldn't possibly marry him, she'd spend the rest of eternity miserable and wind up just as cold and cruel as her siblings... she had to think of something!
Though to to honest... Marina knew the one and only thing she could do, the one and only escape from this marriage from hell... which would require her to flee the sea and abandon her family...

The thought of doing this did hurt her, but if she was going to continue with the whole being honest with herself thing... what love or kindness had her parents and siblings ever shown to her? They always treated her like the odd child and an embarrassment at court... perhaps if she did leave, she might actually really get the chance to live her life as she wanted to and do whatever she desired without being judged or forbidden from doing...

Yes... the only choice she had was to run away, she would run away to the surface world, the one place where the royal court would never follow her, they would never view her as being THAT valuable, especially when Marina's father still had plenty of other available daughters. It was the perfect escape.

So despite being terrified and slightly heartbroken, Marina waited until her family was sound asleep before she gathered what valuable she could carry from the royal vault and she fled the sea to the world above the waves...

When the mermaid Marina escapes her troubles beneath the tides to embrace the world above... more trouble finds her as she is quickly discovered wandering on the sand naked and clueless by human pirates, they chase her in the woods that surround the shoreline and just as her clumsy stumbling on foreign human legs seems to doom her for capture... she finds herself rescued by a handsome elven warrior...

The elf could very well be Prince Nuada from Hellboy in like an A/U universe or just an elf with his image as a faceclaim, that's up to you, whatever it is you desire to do.

Anyway, I was thinking that he would have to hide and protect her not just from a world she does not know or understand, but also from merfolk that very well may rise from the depths to drag her back beneath the waves...
