He was beyond marrying age, at least that's what he tells her every time she comes to his smithy with a wrapped lunch or dinner for him. He didn't tell her his dark secrets, the real reason he rebuffed her time after time. He was too old for her, that's what he says when she comes by with mended shirts or pants. She needed to go be a young one and explore the world, when she comes by with a new hammer she bought at the market for him. She could get someone more handsome, someone richer, etc. Except one day the village is raided and she is kidnapped, suddenly he wants nothing more than her by his side.

Now she was driving through a small town when her truck started to sputter and smoke until it finally just died right outside of town. The only tow truck owner came to help her and it was instant interest between them.

Her first shift as a child had shown she wasn't who her mother said she was, black eyes like a demon and the ability to 'eat' magic was not something a normal wolf could do. Raised on the streets, packless, with no family, she searches for who she is and where she comes from. But when she is called to the mate run, where all the wolves go to find their mates, will she find a mate and be accepted or will she find rejection and disgust as before. Or will she find someone outside of pack life who can give her more than the wolves ever did?
