I know it's a cliche, and I know most people prefer not to play cannon characters, but I'm too tempted by this pairing not to give it a try. Plus, they don't really dwell too much on these two characters in the movie, so there's lots of wiggle room to work with.

What am I speaking about? The Eternals. The movie was... alright, I guess. Some loved it, some hated it, I kind was left feeling 'meh'. But one thing I did love about it was the beautiful chemistry between Makkari and Druig.

And yes, the trope is all too usual: A bright woman pairing up with a surly man, but what can I say? I'm into it, and would love to give a rpg centered around both these characters a try.

This guy is angry with the world, isolated, a small god in a small community when he meets up with his fellow Eternals, and yet the second he sees her, his smile blossoms and he goes "My beautiful, beautiful Makkari". Ok, I swooned a bit, I'll admit it: I'm a romantic at heart.

I'm not sure what I want to explore as far as plot is concerned, and we can certainly deviate all we want from the original source material, considering that in the comic books, Makkari was a man, and the movie didn't really focus on that much on these two characters.

So if anyone is interested in exploring this pairing with me, and playing their own version of Druig, please send me a message!

Unfortunately my partner for this story won't be able to begin our rpg at this time, so I'd love to give it another go. If my partner gets better I don't mind having two different versions of this game, so it won't be an issue.

I've got a basic plot (certainly open to editing it!) in mind now, and would love someone to join me in this adventure:

In this AU, the eternals have indeed been affected by Thanos's snap. Half of them vanished, just like the rest of the universe. Two years later, the snap hasn't been reverted yet (in this version, it probably won't be fixed). Makkari is one of the Eternals that still remains alive, as is Druig. What other Eternals remain can be discussed, I have a few ideas about that, but I'd love to discuss it further.

It's then that an incident forces the Eternals to interfeer: Cracks in reality begin to allow creatures from alternative universes too slip into our world, and among these beings, dark versions of the Eternals that dissapeared during the snap arrive. The remaining Eternals have no other choice but to act upon this threat, and this leads to their reunion.

These cracks in reality come and go, so it won't be a constant battle, and it will allow us to enjoy both action scenes and character interactions, as well as romance.

I'd prefer playing Makkari, but am open to exploring Druig for the right Lady.

If anyone's interested, please send me a pm! Here's a tentative opening scene introducing this alternative universe:

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide
Makkari stared up into the nightsky, watching the millions of stars shinning down on her smooth, caramel-toned skin. The skyline had changed since the first time she set foot on this planet, over 5000 years ago. Generations of humans came and went, time slipped by year after year, decade after decade, century after century.

For all of 4500 years, she had been a part of a family. Or at least they used to be one, hadn't they? In her heart, whatever it was that had linked them together still spread long, invisible threads across the globe.

They had been ten souls bonded together in order to protect humanity from an unique enemy, and nothing else. Not even when it hurt, not even when some of them had been desperate to meddle in the affairs of men and women, especially during those insane, inexplicable wars.
Some of them had intervened from time to time, trying to hide their actions from their leader, Ajax, and from the most fervent believers in the cause. But it always had to be subtle, spared and quiet.

"I won't tell if you don't," they used to tell one another. Who? Mostly Sersi, Sprite, Druig and herself. The rest kept their noses out of human's businesses every single time.

Massacres simply continued to occur, rapes and genocides and all kinds of horrors, when most of them could have put a stop to it with the blink of an eye.

And yet, Makkari never lost her love for this world, and for her fellow Eternals. Maybe that was why, even after years of the snap that vanished half of everything that existed in the universe, her heart still didn't accept the fact that half of them would never breath again. That there would be no reunion possible.
Ikaris, Kingo, Gilgamesh, Thena... Gone, with the snap of a madman's finger. And could they have stopped him? Yes. Yes, they could have, but Ajax wouldn't allow it. Makkari had gone to her, the only mother figure she had ever known, and had been turned away.

"It's not out place," Ajax reminded her.

"If not now, then when?" Makkari had signaled back. She was the one member in the group unable to hear, at least not in the way humans could. She was nonverbal, refusing to use her voice when all sounds eluded her. Makkari could feel vibrations, all around her, an entire world vibrating constantly. Words, screams, even whispers, were transmitted to her as small oscillations that traveled through her body gently. While Makkari could understand the words, everything was wrapped in a veil of silence that made the world a beautifully peaceful place in many ways.

"Go on, enjoy your life, Makkari," Ajax had replied tenderly, kissing the dark-skinned woman on the forehead. And Makkari had obeyed, once more, rushing out her leader's house and into the distance.

Where? It didn't matter. Makkari could move at speeds that would put jets, lighting and even superheros to shame. She could rush over water like it was no big deal, making her way from America to Europe in a matter of... what? It depended on how far she strained herself. Seconds, minutes, certainly not hours.

For 500 years, Makkari had almost obsessively ran all across the globe, wanting to see everything there was to see, read every book there was to read, discover secrets her eyes weren't meant to spot. She was constantly surrounded by people from different cultures, constantly changing her address if she even had one to begin with. The speedster did have a few of properties under her name, not always obtained in the most legal of ways. Inside them, she stored countless treasures, hundreds of books. Some stolen, some purchased, some discovered.

Would Ajax approve? No, never, but she didn't have to find out either. After all, she had only seen her fellow Eternals a handful of times since they separated that fateful night. She shared stories with Sprite once every few decades, she helped Sersei with one of her humanitarian projects once a century, she even sat in a movie set watching Kingo act once or twice. The rest? They became strangers to her, even Druig. And they had been so close, once upon a time.

She had isolated herself even while surrounded by massive crowds. In cities, towns, metropolis, it didn't matter. She could only admire humans from afar, even when standing right next to them.

Laying on the grass, far away from civilization, her long black braids being caressed by a gentle breeze, Makkari smiled warmly at herself, or perhaps at the universe itself. That sky had changed through the millennia and yet it was as beautiful as ever. She still adored this world. Could she ever leave it? Makkari doubted it, not even after exploring it up and down and all around more times than she could count.

Her family was spread long and wide across this world. The ones that remained, anyhow. Sersi in London, Ajax in a rural town down in the proud US of A, Sprite probably covering her childlike appearance with one of her illusions somewhere in New York. Phastos had a family now, she had seen them from afar, but couldn't bring herself to approach him, not after he had gone to such troubles to remain out of sight, living like a normal human being deep in the heart of suburbia.
And Druig? She closed her eyes, vanishing the thought from her head. With his humans, she supposed. She wasn't sure. She didn't want to be.

Makkari rolled her fingers over the grass, smelling the sweet scent of the flowerbeds closeby, feeling the world vibrating all around her. Not listening to it, no. Silence was her eternal companion. But aware, always aware. Makkari smiled once more, wondering if that night she'd sleep there bellow the stars, or maybe make her way to Paris or New York. Maybe Tokyo. Or that small town near what used to Constantinople. Humans now fancied calling it Istanbul, but Makkari still recalled being dazzled by that ancient city once upon a time.

Even as the fastest woman in the world, Makkari wasn't in a particular rush to decide what she'd do next. Sometimes the world moved slowly, and she simply closed her eyes and allowed it to.
