IC: Padawan Adventures - FFG Star Wars

I am considering a Fantasy Flight based Star Wars game involving a group of Padawans at the start of the Clone Wars.  The original mission would likely be the group of them with their Masters that have been ambushed by the Separatist forces.  I anticipate that the first bit of the campaign will largely take place during this start and be a bit of a survival game until they are rescued.  All characters would start with the Padawan specialty and be allowed to move to a new career later if they choose.  Just seeing what questions people would have about this, suggestions or if there is even any interest in such a game.  Likely I will be setting up a discord chat style room so that rolls can be done.  I am finding that while the narrative aspect of the dice work well with Pbp there needs to be a steady flow of communication to setup difficulties, circumstances and ask questions.

Forgot to ask questions.

1). How much xp will we start with?

2). Do you want us only to spend are starting xp in Padawan, or can we buy other specialties during character creation?

3). Will we be creating our masters or selecting masters?

I think it might be interesting to create someone else’s master, that would become an NPC.

I think having the second career chosen but not purchasing from it would be a good way of indicating when the Padawan was headed.

1) I would say starting for now.  I want this to be a sort of maturation through fire type scenario at the start.

2) You are welcome to buy into another specialization at character creation if you choose. 

3) I would say creating.  If you really want a "named" person as your Master then I would allow that as well.


In regard to making another person's Master then is something I would be open to exploring if everyone is onboard with the idea.

1) I wanted to stick with the Clone Wars to embrace the aspect of an order of peace keepers suddenly becoming warriors and generals.  I do like that fall from grace idea and motif being played up. 

2) I would like to see at least two posts a week if not more.  This is one reason I'd like to use Discord for the rolls and OOC back and forth if possible.  And Padawan is in Rise of Separatist if I remember correctly. 

3) I do not believe they are canon or located in any official, published material.

So what direction are people interested in for their characters?  Do they want to eventually become knights, guardians, consulars etc?  Typically, I'm inclined towards going the lightsaber fighting route, but I'm thinking of trying something different this time around myself.

I decided to do someone who likes tinkering and putting stuff together, a curious Twi'lek child whose Master took some time out of the standard Padawan training to teach her how to put things together (reflected in her also having the Sentinel: Artisan specialization). Lots of skill points, not as many force powers or talents, though she is quite good at using improvised tools.

Would y'all be kind enough to include someone that needs their hand held a bit to get used to the system, so I can play an adorable budding consular-type Jedi? I rather like the idea of using a discord server for dice and chatter on a pbp game.

I was thinking about going the pilot route myself. Perhaps as a padawan  that excels in piloting but is falling behind in his knowledge of the force. I was also considering a budding mystic that is dabbling in parts of the force the council would frown on. Something that makes him popular with the clone troopers like bind or hurt/heal, but the continued use bothers the council.

I think that is one of the beauties of the Palawan specialization.  The generalized nature of it and that you have so many open paths.
