Seeking Players for D&D 5e (Ravnica, Non-Smut) [CLOSED]

Welcome to this humble search thread for a D&D 5e game taking place in the Ravnica setting.
I currently have two players, Rummy Tum Tum and Bibliophilia, and we are looking for about three more to join in.
We are looking are players interested in a long-term campaign who are able to post reliably (with keeping things rolling being a priority).



Basic Premise: Being a low-level lackey for a guild can be rough. You're expected to be a perfect, well-greased cog in a machine designed to the plans of those with much more power, resources, and authority than yourself.
Luckily for you, you're in a place where you can meet friends in the same boat. At the Brindled Bull, you are invited to join a "club" of misfits across conventional faction lines, dedicated to helping each other achieve aims of a more personal nature.
Founded by anonymous, high-ranking members of the guilds who wished to pursue their own agendas, they founded the club under the guise of diplomacy, espionage, and unspecified joint-guild ventures.
But really it's just to get what they want.
Through whatever means, they have selected you to become one of their agents, and orchestrated your discovery of the inn and the organization that uses it as a headquarters.

Characters should each have their own personal goals and quests to pursue (which are encouraged to be something your guild wouldn't care about, or might even oppose), and a major conflict theme will revolve around balancing the pursuit of these goals with external factors.


A few more details about this game:
* This will, per original player request, involve "intriguing NPCs, growing stakes, and a dash of sillyness"
* It will also be a non-smutty game.
* Will involve as of yet undetermined modifications to combat rules to make it faster/smoother (and it might vary from situation to situation, in any case, physical conflict generally won't be "grind everyone's hit points down until one side is dead").

Character Stuff:
Characters will start at first Level 1.
Ability Scores: 27 point buy
Most of the UA material should be a-ok.
Also, we would like fantasy artwork (non-anime style) for faceclaims.


If interested post here with a quick character idea (mostly I'll pick whoever I'm vibin' the most so don't spend too much time on it).

My plan is to play Esmerelda Ahren, a wizard and Advokist lawyer-in-training for the Orzhov. She inherited this life from her family, and even has a pesky ancestor spirit who intends to hold her to it, despite her questioning the guild's strict control over her.

What she wants, truly, is to break free from the gilded cage of study, training, and magic-fueled interrogations. She wants to adventure--to experience the muck and ugliness and poorness of the world; to come close to death and to bring it swiftly to the enemies she meets along the way. She is not like the stuffy Obzedat, or her long dead ancestor. She is alive, and she wants to feel alive!

And with this new organization underway, why not start off with the biggest (secret) fuck you to the Orzhov? Pro bono work. Or better yet, making coin and then giving it to poor people. How novel that would be.

My initial thought is that my barbarian is more civilized and learned than her brethren in the clans and she has a yearning for something different, as a result.  Perhaps she's in one of the more brutish clans, or merely undervalued intellectually due to being a barbarian, but she's generally disillusioned and wants to find a place where she can be appreciated for her intellect, as well as her raw strength.

Okay so my concept is a Loxodon Rakdos Monk whose entirely family is Selesnya and who insists that it's not just a phase mom!

The closest thing I can find to concept art is this thigh tattoo. Which seems appropriate.

Hmm, Ventura would actually be perfect for this, as a Rakdos whose goal is to overthrow Rakdos, make the Cult something more respectable and organized, and use civilized techniques to usher in a bloody communist revolution.

On the other hand Rakdos teenage rebellion sounds amazing and I'm not sure if it'd step on toes or not. And with the size of those toes, who wants to risk it!

In the spirit of these guys being the oddballs rebelling against their guilds, can we select background traits and stuff from outside of their guilds?
