Snowflakes in the Wind

So, last night I fell asleep in the middle of my bed last night. Unfortunately, my cat is a bed hog. She only weighs about nine pounds, but somehow she pushed me to the edge of my bed and I fell off. When I got up to look, the cat was stretched out across the bed and purring. This is not the first time she's stolen most of the bed, but it was the first time she pushed me all the way off. Perhaps this is my sign that I need to get a bigger bed.

Mirrah

Thank you for sharing your story, Snowflakes in the Wind! I'm over here giggling. Your cat sounds like she has character--and super-feline strength! Cats really are amazing.

Speaking of cats, I had roomies several years back who had 4 cats. During the cats' first Christmas, all the decorations and lights was like catnip supreme for them--they loved all of it! Chewing on the (real) tree's needles, swinging their paws at the ornaments and stealing them off of the tree, swiping our Christmas dinner off our plates... >.>

I remember one night, falling asleep on the couch and the lights were all off, including the ones on the tree. I wake up to the sound of scurrying and scuffling. Using my phone, I point the light in the direction the noise is coming from, and there's a cat on the mantle, her eyes round as marbles reflecting the light, her paw outstretched, frozen in the act of pulling a shiny ornament towards her.

I quietly shut off the light on my phone and went back to sleep. I still laugh about it to this day. XD

That cat sounds very funny, Mirrah. Just imagining what that must've looked like makes me smile.

My story is also about a too-small bed. In fact, I think there is no bed in the world big enough... My two dogs always claim most of the space. I recently got a double bed and I'm lucky to have a quarter of it. One dog always lays in the middle and doesn't move. The other dog starts at my feet and moves up whenever she gets the chance. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and try to (carefully) push her away with my feet... but then I push her down along with my blanket. At least my bed's against a wall so I won't have to worry about getting pushed out.

My cat likes to sleep on my feet as well.  When I get into bed, she first comes up next to me for scritches, but shortly after that stops, she goes back to the foot of the bed.  I will then feel her testing the blankets until she finds my feet, and plops down on them.  If I happen to move them during the night, she will find them again.

I have been squeezed out of my sleeping bag (it's winter, and the house is cold!) like toothpaste from a tube because of a modest-sized cat.

Long ago my family had a pet, his name was Rocket. To be fair it wasn't exactly a choice of ours to have him. First family pet...what can go wrong? Suffice to say everything. Rocket was a black cat with if memory serves green eyes, could've been yellow considering how evil he was. Now I am not putting a label on black cats being evil, but, this one was. He'd hiss, scratch, wasn't exactly the cozy cat that lets you carry him around.

I did my best to accept him for his faults and love him because he was part of the family. Eventually he became too much, hostile, unforgiving, so he went to live with my Grandma. There are two endings to his story, choose which you wish to believe, he wound up running a pack of wolves or coyotes...or the other. He wasn't the best first pet to ever have but the memories of his antics will live on. Honestly this was just rehashed as going into each and every account of that blasted cat would take up time and space and I just though to share this, possibly not the thing you want to hear about a pet but I'm sure many pet owners have gone through this and this was long ago as it was.

Brokk

I have a playful cat.

One night, she jumps on on the bed and starts playing at 2am.  Not unheard of.  Sometimes she finds a toy and brings it on the bed, then bats it around.

This night, after playing for a bit, I feel her walk up the bed towards my head. Next thing I know, I feel something small with sharp little nails trying to scramble up over my arm and under the covers.

She dropped a LIVE MOUSE in bed with me!!!

OMG did I flip out.  Going from a dead sleep to fending off a live mouse in bed. I screamed like a little girl (keep in mind, it's dark and I had no clue what is going on yet, just lizard brain reaction), flinging my arm out so that the mouse went sailing across the room.

I then spent the next 20 min trying to hunt the damn thing down.  The cat was zero help with this.  I finally gave up and just turned off the lights and went back to sleep.  Stupid cat... :-)

Oh goodness where do I even begin... I have had so many pets, that I can't think of just one to share. I've raised calves, goats, deer, flying squirrels, birds, ducks, dogs, and cats. Each of them with their own unique stories and personalities to boot. So I'll let you guys decide which ones you want to read first!

Calves: We have the two stars that I can think of right off the bat being my big baby Shadow the bull calf, and a calf that was named Apache, then changed to Lucky.

Goats: I don't recall these two having names but they were siblings.

Deer: Bubba and his sister, I forget what she was called. But the stag was named after my dad so he wouldn't eat him.

Flying squirrels: I don't remember their names either as they were from such a long time ago.

Birds: My mom had a ton of them, but the stars for this thread will be Goofy, a yellow ringed necked macaw, and Houdini, a love bird that loved no one.

Ducks: Daffy, Donald, and Daisy

Dogs: We have Misty, Dog, and Loki

Cats: We have Mellow, Brat, Angel, Shadow and Ashes.

Please note not all of these animals were at the same time but some are. Also forgot to mention the chickens and a turkey that I know didn't have a name.

Eulophia

I've had five cats in my life time, plus 4 different litters from them, all very different.
But my favorite is, when I was out the whole day and came back in the evening to find that my pregnant cat had gone into my room and hid herself in my wardrobe.. not sure how she even got in.. but cats, they're capable of things we don't realise. but she had decided to make her nest there and have her babies... I no longer have any cats... but all of their cute and funny stories, will be with me forever.

Saleen Shadows

I can't imagine my life without cats. I can blame any odd noises my old house makes on them for sure. My current ones, are Ashes and Shadow.

Ashes and Shadow are both females, Shadow is an all black cat that got her name because when we rescued her, it was between myself and four other roommates for her to choose. She chose me. Literally followed me around everywhere like a little Shadow. Since she was originally a stray, she loves to go outside. Problem with that is, I've been very broke since I got her and have been unable to afford the procedure to get her spayed. So she currently has had 2 litters in the four years I've had her. Ashes is the sole member of Shadows first litter. So we kept her. Now, Mama Shadow has a litter of 5 kittens nearing 2 weeks of age. We have a calico, two grey ones (one has black ears and nose) and two black ones! Ashes is a grey and white tabby.

However, the amount of antics the two have been up to... both of them love to hunt the bugs that come in from the porch light. However, Shadow LOVES wasps. Doesn't matter what kind. She doesn't eat them, just plays with them until they are dead. Ashes, however much to her daddy's displeasure, LOVES spiders. She will hunt them down incessantly. Her daddy loathes spiders, and it never fails when he goes to check and see what it is she's after, it's always a spider. And when I say he loathes them, I mean has severe arachnophobia. I have to convince him to leave the spiders outside alone it's that bad. However, he does the same for me when it comes to Junebugs and roaches so it's fair.
