UCLA. Most know it when they hear the name. A University famous from the media to spoken word. Many great people have come from this place. So famous is this place that it is even known to those of supernatural persuasion. Of course, most of its students and faculties have no real idea.

There have been many Fraternities and Sororities over the ages, but our story focuses on a more recent one and how Theta Rho Psi became famous, or some may even claim infamous during the year 2024.

Premise

A New Sister joined the UCLA chapter of Theta Rho Psi in 2024. No one knows much about her, but the other sisters had found the longer she was around, the more unexplored curiosities grew. The new girl seemed entirely unaware of this and what little the other sisters could learn was that she left her family for some reason.

Curiosities grew into lusts and lusts turned into fascinations and desires. This is the story of what happened at Theta Rho Psi and why nowadays it is known at UCLA as the Sapphic Sorority or more colloquially as Dykes R Us.

Of course the real story is often better than the rumors and legends, just what happened in 2024 when a Fae joined the Sorority.

Major themes of the story would be the idea of Found Family and positive portrayals of Polyamory between the Sorority Sisters. Also important is that the Nymph's family may come up later on leading to some drama related to choosing between the two worlds.

Rules:

  • This game is a relaunch because a few people dropped out suddenly for IRL reasons making it impossible to continue due to interruption this caused everyone.

  • The game is run by Myself and a Co-GM Yori.

  • The RP will allow trans women or non-binary femmes to be part of the sorority in question.

  • This RP mainly takes place in the Sorority but extracurriculars and classes can be mentioned.

  • While this is mainly slice of life there will be an overarching plot but side plots and stories are encouraged.

  • While some of the women may or may not have sexual experience, the point of this story is all this is amplified considerably by the Fae aura. For instance one character in the closet would be more tempted to act whereas someone who may have dated a feminine individual may find themselves drawn to others. Think of the pheromones as less of hypnosis and more strengthening what is already there and perhaps removing some inhibitions.

  • Due to nature of this RP Dubcon is inevitable as the fae's aura is basically pheromones so is that is not your thing do not join.

  • The Pheromones in question will work gradually but they could affect your character strongly or weakly to start with, one thing to note by the end none of the women can resist them.

  • Any sexual scene involving only 2 people should be spaced out between posts of two other people.

  • Time Stamps are necessary which establish, DATE, TIME AND LOCATION in the Sorority.

  • Multiple Characters run by the same person are encouraged to fill out the sorority, but please only do so if you can run more than one without stressing out.

  • Each player is required to have a human character. Supernatural characters will be possible for second characters.

  • This will contain rather a lot of sex scenes or intimate scenes often between more than one partner.

Personality & History
Personality: Shy, smart, curious, unathletic, virgin
History:
Julia grew up in Chula Vista. She's the first of two daughters, with the second being much younger than her. She had a few friends at school, but not maybe and mostly passed under the radar. She did excel academically, especially in sciences, and managed to get a scholarship at UCLA. She's still first year and has only recently joined Theta Rho Psi, in hopes of making more friends in college than she did in high school. She's also thinking that it might be nice to get a relationship. She's never had one in high school. A boyfriend, perhaps, though she's starting to discover strange feelings towards women she'd not yet explored. And, of course, through it all, it's quite important for her to keep her grades up. And not just because her continued scholarship depends on it.

Traits
Likes: Books, chemistry, cats, stuffed animals, board games
Dislikes: Large crowds, onions, dogs, being drunk, meanness
Skills: Studying, dexterity, cleaning
Flaws: Shy, unathletic, poor eyesight
Extras

Has two cats back at her parents' house, which she adores.

Ashley "Ash" Brooke

Basic Information
Name: Ashley "Ash" Brooke
Pronouns: She/her, but they/them is acceptable in a pinch.  She doesn't handle male pronouns well, especially used derisively.
Age: 19
Gender Identity: Assigned intersex at birth, female presenting, taking estrogen
Sexual Orientation: Gynosexual but believes herself asexual
Species: Human

Physical Information
Height / Weight: (Please use ft/inches and lbs) 5'6", 110 lbs.
Hair / Eye Colour: Brown hair, blue eyes
Faceclaim: Capri Anderson
Build: Slim
Notable Features: Although she possesses both sets of gonads, neither of them work well enough to produce children, barring an astronomical stroke of luck.  It's common for her to wear baggy or men's pants and boxers.  She's open about being intersex but rarely lets anyone see her naked.

Academic Information
Classes: Pre-Med.

Personality & History

Personality: Although Ash can be outgoing and friendly with people she knows and recognizes, it can take her a while to open up to people.  She has a temper, for which she blames the extra testosterone.  Her hope to go into pre-medical is to find her calling in health, to help people, especially since she has enough experience to know how difficult the field can be.  However, a lot of the organic chemistry aspects are very confusing to her, and she gets frustrated, having difficulty with her studies.  Most often, she comes across as kind but withdrawn.

If someone can get her going, Ashley can have a bit of a dark or twisted sense of humor.  Often, this causes people to recoil from her and her to withdraw further, creating a cycle.  So far, though, most of the sisters have either politely told her that they didn't find her funny or enjoyed her jokes.

History: When Arthur and Maria Brooke had their only child, they weren't expecting the kid to be intersex.  A male name had already been picked out, and they had some discussion to ensure the name for their baby would have at least some degree of possibility for male and female.  Maria had some difficulty believing that Ashley was a male name, but Arthur insisted that Ash from the movie Army of Darkness was a fantastic name for a boy.  They would let Ash choose a gender identity, permitting sports, dolls, tea parties, whatever Ash wanted to do.

It's a strange and difficult decision for a child to have to make, and Ash didn't like the idea of having to choose one or the other, being cut off from the rest of decisions.  As puberty came on, what ultimately got Ashley to pick female was choosing between being a boy with extra girl parts or a girl with extra boy parts, and the latter just somehow seemed easier.  The doctors who talked about surgery horrified her and her parents never went back to them, but they ensured that she get the proper hormonal treatments from other, more competent doctors.

Even after the decision was made, a lot of girls didn't want her over for sleepovers, and boys seemed to treat her more like a boy to be friends with rather than a girl they wanted to date.

Ash went to college with the hope to join the medical field in some way, to help people who went through what she did and other problems.  When she looked into sororities, not all of them were kind and accepting when they read the I designation for gender on her forms, but the girls at Theta Rho Psi made her feel more welcome.  There was a lot more to a sorority, after all, than liking boys, something Ash never really did.  Most likely, she figured, she would just never develop a desire for another human body, which was okay.

Still a freshman, Ash still has much to learn about college and herself.  Part of her hopes that when she becomes a senior, she can likewise make sure the new girls are welcomed in by her, just as she was, but that requires learning a little more social confidence.

Traits

Likes: Music, jokes, friendship, when people help her by reaching out when she can't, Kitten Keeper (A free app game on her phone where she takes care of a kitten, feeds it, pets it, and otherwise keeps a virtual pet)
Dislikes: Being told she's not really a woman, people who demand to see her naked when she barely knows them, getting frustrated and when people give her a hard time about it, even getting close to losing her temper for fear of losing friends, spicy food
Skills: A decent amount of secondhand medical knowledge, compassion to listen to people when they need a hug or a shoulder, good analytical problem-solving skills
Flaws: Introversion that heightens around people she doesn't know well, a temper that she actively fears getting out of control, unconscious shame about being intersex

Extras

An open place to include any extra information such as pets, a home or a favorite song.

Other players are encouraged to reach out to Ash and be friends, even if they aren't interested in her sexually.  I intend to play her escaping her shell both sexually and just socially, and it'll be cool to have her learn to really accept herself.

It's all good, and it's all in fun.  Now get in the pit and try to love someone.

Has two cats back at her parents' house, which she adores.

So, this is very early, but I was interested in discussing connections if you like.  Both our characters are shy, so it seems better to give them something rather than just shy waves across the hallway.

Maybe both our characters have the same Calculus class and go to each other when they get stuck?

The cats might be a thing also.  I imagine Ashley likes cats but her mom is allergic.

Certainly could be fun to study calculus together and have shy fumblings as the lust aura affects them. Plus, cats! Yes!

CHARACTER NAME

Basic Information
Name: Taylor Faye
Pronouns: She/They
Age: 23
Gender Identity: Nonbinary
Sexual Orientation: Strongly feminine-attracted bisexual
Species: Human

Physical Information
Height / Weight: 5", 95 lbs
Hair / Eye Colour: Blonde / Brown
Faceclaim: Emily Wickersham
Build: Short, slender, few curves
Notable Features: Thin scar on chest, tattoo of a heart shaped bird on lower back

Academic Information
Classes: Architecture, minors in Art History and LGBTQ+ Studies

Personality & History
Personality: Taylor is, when she's not worrying or stressing herself out about something, a fairly chill and relaxed person. They have a terrible sense of humour, tendency to solve problems by just throwing herself face-first at them until they stop being problems, and a generally relaxed approach to thing.
And then, the rest of the time something gets stuck in their head and they worry about it. Intensely and constantly and have a lot of trouble getting past or over it. At least until they've warmed up in a social situation they tend to be more passive and reserved, needing to see where they can fit into what's going around them instead of making a space for themself.

History: Taylor was never an especially girly girl. Oh, she would have to say that, forced to pick between two options she'd say 'woman' - she'd tried 'man' and that didn't fit at all - but the moment she realised that there was a middle point between the two they set themself down right there and never felt happier.
Ironically more femme in her preferred appearance than butch or androgynous, she had very strong issues with her body from the moment puberty hit her and decided that her chest was where the growth was going to happen. They did not at all appreciate this, and the more their body changed the more they hated having to live in it. Luckily, the back pains that followed and were only somewhat exaggerated when she found out what the treatment was meant that a lot of the worst parts of her were removed.
She'd come back later and have more removed when her increasing discomfort at having to pretend to be even a boyish young woman reached the point that she couldn't stand, but by that point the British person had moved to America.

At first, the thought they were transmasc did occur to Taylor and while it wasn't as unpleasant as trying to present as a woman similar issues began to arise. In the middle, with bits of both and the mental image of being neither, however, has seemed to work far, far better for them.
Briefly, they had considered putting themselves forwards for a fraternity, but the nature of frat boys quickly dissuaded her from that and, while she's felt that she has to present a bit more feminine than usual in Theta Rho Psi, she's kept herself at the low end of such things and hasn't been nearly as uncomfortable as she was in earlier educational institutions.

Her main problem, really, is that they have the absolute worst taste in women and judgement of risk. Her girlfriends have, almost always, been short lived relationships with people that everyone who isn't Taylor could immediately tell would end badly.
While most of this brief encounters have been with women, a few enbies and extremely feminine men had caught her attention.

Traits

Likes: Beer, sports, women, running, reading, meat, sapphic media, miniature wargaming
Dislikes: Fashion/Make up, prejudice, dishonesty, things being considered gendered, perfume, small enclosed spaces,
Skills: Art, Cooking, Languages (She doesn't remember much of the Italian they learned in school, but the French stuck)
Flaws: Horrible Judge of Danger, Shy, Stubborn

Extras

Generations ago, one of the fae had a brief interest in one of Taylor's ancestors. Although by now it is extremely thin there is, technically, a tiny amount of fae blood in them, not that they have ever noticed or that there is much of anything that they can do with it, at least for now.

Zoey was born into a very confusing family. Her dad was a Californian Japanese man who’d moved to New Orleans to teach Japanese. Where he met and married a local woman of Creole background. Mattie Anne Cooper was a language major who fell for the tall Japanese man. Akira Hibiki fell for the outspoken witch and eventually proposed during Mardi Gras.

Zoey was born 8 1/2 months later. And appeared to be a polyglot like her parents learning French and Japanese by the age of six. By the time she was in high school she was fully aware of the charms of being gay in a tolerant family.

Unfortunately she wasn’t able to get into Tulane and accept scholarship for UCLA. Her goal was to get a masters in forensic science with a minor in law with the goal of becoming a real life Abby Sciuto from NCIS.

She’s very into the goth lifestyle as well as being openly ‘out’ as a lesbian. She makes her own outfits, usually altering clothing to fit the goth outlook. As a result she’s discovered the cosplay scene and showed up at ComicCon as Neil Gaiman’s character of Death.

While a big comic fan she isn’t a dedicated lore fanatic and simply enjoys a good story. She is a devious prankster, as several fraternities on campus have discovered. She waited till her junior year to pledge a sorority as she was focused on class work

So, this is totally none of my business, but I have some advice for singular they if it’d be welcome.  If it’s not welcome, well, that’s why I’m asking in advance.  I’ve read a decent amount of short stories and all with singular they and noticed something.

It sounds like Ash and Taylor have both dealt with medical stuff.  Maybe they both know this about each other but neither has worked up the courage to talk about what each has been through?

Zoey loves spicy food and Ash hates spicy food.  I can see a sort of joke rivalry about this.

Like, I’ve seen a lot of people comment about pineapple on pizza.  Nobody really cares what other people eat but a lot of people will go out of their way to be silly by making ridiculous declarations.

I could see Ashley joking about (but never even thinking of doing) just pouring an entire wasabi container on Zoey’s food so it’ll be edible for her “goofy” taste buds and the like.

Sound like fun?  Sound annoying?  Sound like something that Ashley said in the past to try to be funny but they talked it out and got over it?

Edit: Zoey might have also given Ashley something really spicy as a practical joke, and Ashley would ask for an apology after.  Ashley’s not much for practical jokes but doesn’t hold a grudge.
It's all good, and it's all in fun.  Now get in the pit and try to love someone.

Zoey is considerate of other folks taste buds and would never do that unless she was getting revenge on her cooking something spicy. She likes Taylor for her teasing. In fact she’s color tag the hot spicy stuff she makes to warn her away from them. That and make nice unspicy varieties for her.

I’m playing Ashley, but guessing that was just a text goof.  I make those too.

Very good with never having it be any sort of prank or such.  Zoey might have even gotten Ashley to try something very spicy and be certain that Ashley doesn’t like spicy.  Ashley would be up for trying non-spicy things made for her.

Ashley may ask Zoey about goth stuff.  I can see Ashley finding it cool to some degree - rainy days really can be as pretty as sunlit ones, and some things that people consider dark are just part of life - but Ashley wouldn’t do it as a lifestyle.  Zoey may appreciate when Ashley says something dark and twisted as a joke even when others don’t find it funny.

That would make her one of Zoey’s favorite folks. Zoey flirting with her and such offering her skill as a seamstress to make her a proper goth outfit and offer to develop a makeup look that is suitable to her.

The flirting may be hard on Ashley before the pheromones.  She thinks she’s Asexual and will honestly believe that Zoey won’t be interested in her due to being intersex unless explicitly told otherwise.

But the outfit can work, even if she won’t wear it often.  Could definitely be a Halloween and rare occurrence thing, but she’d want the pants either extra baggy at the crotch or just a pair of male pants.  Getting her to wear skirts or dresses will be next to impossible and she’s very self-conscious about it.  She may not even wear the outfit outside the sorority area outside of Halloween.

Let’s say that Zoey has been working on getting the outfit but it hasn’t been finished at the start of the IC, or that Zoey finished it but has yet to show it to Ashley.

Zoey would not be that blunt at first. Just flirting with her but as the pheromones kick in she’d get blunt and forthright about her interest.

I am contemplating joining this but looking to  play a Demisexual character would the Pheromones Drive  the character to seek out the emotional connections she needs to achieve physical intimacy or  would the Pheromones override that part of her self? If possible I would prefer they just increase her drive to form the bonds of Emotional intimacy she needs to achieve physical intimacy but let me know if that would not work for how you envision the pheromones working.

That’s cool.  Expect awkward unresponsiveness and maybe the occasional smile or blush before things get going.

Let me suggest that if our characters already know each other and our friends, your character might already have the emotional connections, and I’d be happy to work with you on ensuring that’s set up before game.  I’m not the GM and don’t want to step up on answers for how the pheromones work, though.

Honestly in that case I would suggest initially yes it would act in such a way but when it gets to peak strength, it may alter personality? Admittedly, this is merely just an idea and I would only encourage you play the character as you would <3. Hope that all makes sense.

Okay sounds good Alizah, Yep it makes sense. I can work with that. It will probably start with her  learning other peoples hobbies and such trying to  form bonds by learning an experience there interests with them.  I can work with a playing the character as I would.

Well Andyz depending on what you character is an Influencer of it could be there is a desire to get to know the person behind the Influencer but it would probably since we are all new to each other a slow build but that will have to wait and see with when I have more fleshed out about the character.

Marie, since I have your Discord, I can just talk to you more in DM unless you want to do it here ^_^

AlizsahTheBard, I had an idea for a supernatural character, and I was thinking about posting it.  I'm well aware that supernaturals aren't allowed yet, but I figured I would just show you what I'm thinking, and it'll help in case any details need hammered out.

One thing I'll let you know is that I fully recognize the idea of player consent.  The basic idea is a centuries-old witch, but I'm aware how easily such ideas can be abused, so I wanted to give some thoughts on what I'm thinking.

The concept is more along the lines of an Awakened mentor who helps show others the wonder of existence, often bringing enlightenment in the process.  Usually you see this for children's stories, like Mary Poppins or The Sword in the Stone, but you can see the similarities and differences without them being pointed out.

I intend to give her two major limitations to ensure player consent.  First, any player can just decide that any (or even all) of her spells fails to work on them, at any time, for any reason or no reason at all.  Second, a player can ask OOC that my character has had a prophetic dream warning not to do something specific, and my character won't question it and will refuse to do it to the character no matter how much the other character asks.

Needless to say that you have the full right to refuse.  I just figured I'd go for it.

Fiona Merryweather

Basic Information
Name: Fiona Merryweather, but answers to Fin or Finnegan while in male form
Pronouns: Defaults to she/her while in female or intersex forms, he/him when in male form, they/them is acceptable if the number of people is clarified by statements like "they alone."
Age: 615 chronologically, 25 biologically
Gender Identity: Born female, would consider herself about 60% female and 40% male if asked to create a spectrum.  The concept of gender identity as it's used in the modern day still confuses her to some degree, but she takes pains never to be rude or offensive.
Sexual Orientation: Gynosexual: Attracted to female bodies with no preference for the mind inside.  She's had her way with plenty of men who chose to be transformed into a woman for a single night but would never do it the other way around.
Species: Witch, born human but with learned and honed magical affinities.

Physical Information
Height / Weight: 5'6", 110 lbs.
Hair / Eye Colour: Red hair, green eyes
Faceclaim: Emily (better known as Emma) Stone
Build: Athletic
Notable Features: Fiona has a black Ihwaz rune on the back of her neck, concealed under her hair, which slows her aging to one day of age for every year and a day that passes on Earth.

Academic Information
Classes: Information Technology.  Fiona knows BASIC and can work a smartphone but often gets lost in the wider world of technology.  This is a problem she intends to rectify with higher education.

Personality & History

Personality: People often think Fiona is wise beyond her years, but it's just that she's old enough to have the experience.  She has a love for knowledge, wisdom, and truth, and does what she can to pass on such things in a society that often spurns them.  Even so, the world is constantly changing, and she does her best to learn herself to keep up with it.  She delights in learning as much as she does teaching.

History: (Try to be detailed on this may come up.)
Fiona was born in the year 1408 in southern France, and the world has changed so much since, but has stayed the same in far too many ways.  Fiona says even today that societies change but the people in them do not.

A curious and intelligent but sometimes awkward child, she always wanted to learn and understand things as much as possible, but her commoner background prevented her from receiving anything approaching a formal education.  The one who did take her in was a kindly old nanny who lived a short distance away, just barely close enough to walk, and while her parents couldn't do much in the way of education, Fiona herself did chores and such by way of thanks.

It never occurred to anyone, until Fiona was told, that the old woman was a witch.  She fit none of the stereotypes and giggled at Fiona's surprise, but Fiona had no reason to be scared and said so.  It made no sense that the woman would tell Fiona if she meant any harm.

Fiona learned and grew, and as adolescence came, she had no interest in boys or a husband.  By then, Fiona had been well trained in the basics of the five apprenticeships of magic, but had so much else to learn.  Just as people have been taught that there are three types of matter but others do exist, she was truly beginning to understand how much there was to learn both about the natural and the supernatural.

By her early twenties, Fiona had learned enough of the art of magic to gain a rune, and she went in secret to a tattoo artist in order to receive the Ihwaz tattoo.  Her flesh marked, she performed the ritual that slowed her aging.  For every year and a day that passed on Earth, her body would only age one day, giving her plenty of time to do everything she wanted.

By the time the old woman had taught Fiona everything she could, Fiona had a strong grasp of the supernatural and had a much stronger desire to learn about the rest of the world.  Although the old woman had connections to help meet other people, many of them were mundane, only willing to teach men.  That problem was incredibly easy to solve, but it left Fiona coming to terms with herself.

Back then, some people just had various expectations for the male body, but Fiona didn't feel all that different as a man.  He took to using the name Fin, sometimes called Finn and written as Finnegan on official documents.  He expected life to be so very different and found that it wasn't at all.  Even the fear of discovery wasn't so bad when mundanes didn't want to believe in the supernatural and could so easily be convinced with a little sorcery that Fiona and Finnegan were different people, a spell that proved necessary more than once while attending university.

Fin visited a decent section of Europe, building up resources by taking varying jobs that required an education, regardless of the gender needed.  When studying complex topics that left Fiona puzzled, she learned that taking on a more menial and physical occupation in Fin's body left his mind open to mentally explore and digest the topics at hand.

1494 began the French Renaissance, for which Fiona was happy to return, share her own findings, and push for the importance of education.  Not everyone agreed with her, and more than once, Fiona would leave someone denying her wisdom and return as Fin to give the a similar debate from the mouth of a man.  Fiona had expected this to work quite often, and was surprised that it usually didn't.

As time passed, she started to understand something that not even the wise old nanny had been able to teach her: her dreams could be prophetic.  As far as she'd come with magic, she'd been able to teach herself with practice to advance her understanding, as well as having educated various others in the practice along the way.  However, prophecy was entirely new, and required research that she managed to undertake in secret.

The future wants to happen in a specific way, not because it's fated but because of the willpower and belief of all those in the world.  It made sense, of course: magic worked because of the willpower and belief of everyone working itself upon objective reality.  So it had been since at least the pharaohs of Egypt had demanded worship as god-kings.  However, prophecy only came as a warning, since she was just as bound to time and ignorant of the future as she was unable to use magic to stop an angry mob who all believed themselves having divine protection.

She only attempted to cheat fate once when being warned not to do something in prophecy, and it resulted in quite a few deaths.  Fiona rarely took or takes any sort of vow, but she's vowed never to violate her prophetic dreams ever again.

It was that mentality, once she heard about the beginning and end of the Salem Witch Trials, that sent her to America.  She had no hatred or prejudice for the ignorant; they required a guiding hand in order to educate them properly.  Fiona knew well that she wasn't somehow immune to the desires of having life go her way just because she was smarter than others; if anything, such a personality trait, left unchecked, could lead to all sorts of similar hubris.

One of her worst mistakes was refusing to teach an American boy any further magic and leaving him when he proved himself to be a monster.  Rather than crippling Simon from advancing any further on his own, he learned enough with sheer will, determination, and practice that he became a monster that had to be put down in secret.  It was the early 1800s, and even if only a few people who had ever lived knew the full story, it still haunts her.

Fiona continues to learn, but as life has advanced and people have learned how few differences there truly are between men and women, she hasn't pretended to be a man.  The only real reason she doesn't continue to do so often is because it can take a great deal of potions and she doesn't always have serious warning when one will end and the other begin.  Getting another rune for an eternal spell was completely out of the question since it couldn't be turned off and on.  More commonly, if she plans to be male for an extended period of time, she'll enchant a necktie.

One of the most amazing things of the last century was the personal computer.  Back then, she wasn't able to utilize it to its full source and potential, but she understood what it could become, and planned to return sometime in the twenty-first century.

A fun occupation she's held among her many professions has been a life coach.  So many people are just very unhappy for reasons that would be self-evident to those with as much wisdom as they have money, but then, helping things along with her magic doesn't hurt.  Her clients never have any idea just how much she either helps them along, or, in a few cases, actively hinders them so that they move away from self-destructive behavior.

The hardest thing of the twenty-first century for her has been the concept of gender identity.  To Fiona, she's male in a male body and female in a female body, and attracted to people when they're in a female body but not in a male body.  Gender identity is very different from this, and while she's always respectful, sometimes she struggles with the concept.  She has to remind herself that the rest of the mundane world can't just switch back and forth with the ease that she does, but she believes that in an age of transhumanism, when science allows everyone to be whatever they want to be, they will eventually either see things as she does or teach her what she's always been missing for centuries.  Either will be acceptable with her.

It's the concept of the revolution of science and technology that has her in college this year.  She knows about the Fae coming and wants to make sure the sorority can handle matters; the chapters of Theta Rho Psi have ended up being supernatural-friendly in every single chapter of every single university to which she's been.  It's her hope to ensure the girls are able to learn and grow in a matter that best befits them, and she's had quite a bit of experience educating about sexuality from a time even before the Kamasutra was widespread in Europe.

In the future, she wants to design an education program that can teach without the aid of a professor.  Too many schools and educators have difficult programs, but technology is becoming so ubiquitous.  Even in the last century, she was able to envision a computer program that would teach children K-12 at various paces depending on their own intellects, answer commonly-asked questions about the material, and so on.  The technology is more than capable here and now of doing exactly that; it just needs to be created by someone with the intelligence and wide understanding necessary.

Traits

Likes: (Likes. At least 5.) Knowledge, curiosity, open-mindedness, the chance to experience something she never has before, the opportunity to learn about new things herself, and she has a smattering of hobbies of ancient stuff that nobody does anymore that mark her anachronistic tendencies for anyone looking for them.  That last part requires a little more thought and detail.
Dislikes: (Dislikes. At least 5) The unwillingness to learn, intolerance (including of the intolerant: people should be taught, defeated through logical debate, and not berated or assaulted), being expected to keep up with the trends of the modern day that don't interest her, deception and lies beyond that necessary to maintain the secrecy of the supernatural (which also bothers her but for which she recognizes a necessity), being sexually teased and denied orgasm
Skills: (Skills, at least 3)

  • Forceful Will: Fiona does not easily give into mental, emotional, or spiritual influence.  This does not make her immune to pheromones by any means, but she'll have better control than most, especially if she feels that someone else isn't ready to be pushed all the way to sex yet.
  • Knowledge: Fiona has learned quite a lot in the better part of a millennium.  She speaks and knows the sign language for a ridiculous number of languages, has gone through the college process several times with many different majors, and does her best to stay up to date with the constant expansion of society's knowledge base.
  • Prophetic Dreams: On rare occasions, Fiona has a dream that she recognizes as prophetic, which warns her against or guides her towards specific actions.
  • Spellcraft: Her magical abilities without any form of focus or anything else are mostly limited to the rote of summoning her wand to her hand, and her wand will let her keep a spell going for as long as she maintains a level of concentration and has her wand in hand.  Beyond that are the five apprentice types of magic, which can even be combined in various ways by the truly knowledgeable:
     - Alchemy: creating potions that have various effects but usually only last for a set period of time, often ending either when the imbiber excretes the liquid or sleeps, but it can be whenever
     - Artifice: imbuing something physical (even a human body) with magical traits by the aid of runes or other markings, and the trait lasts for as long as the rune/marking remains and the original caster is alive
     - Sorcery: Maintaining eye contact and speaking words and commands.
This is sometimes called or mistaken hypnotism or mesmerism.
     - Summoning: Conjuring forth beings and objects from other dimensions, and in extreme cases, creating a gateway
     - Thaumaturgy: creating an effigy or model of an object and causing the effects upon the model to affect the original.  A good example would be what people call "voodoo dolls," even though the actual practice of voudoun does not use them.
  • Wealth and Connections: If you live long enough, get lucky, get to know the right people, and so on, you're going to make a lot of money.  Fiona often tends to spend a lot of it as well on gifts or other things, and she owns an entire warehouse full of stuff she expects she may want to magically summon sooner or later.  She doesn't know everyone rich and famous, but she has enough to handle things like making sure her identifications (she has a driver's license, social security number, etc. for both Finnegan and Fiona) stay reasonably close to her apparent age.

Flaws: (Flaws, At least 3)
  • Anachronistic: Despite how she looks, Fiona is not really 25.  She didn't watch children's programming twenty years ago.  Her demeanor doesn't match what someone would expect of people her (apparent) age and she often doesn't recognize modern slang.  She's not so bad that she can't use a smartphone or computer - she tries her best to keep up - and sometimes she forgets exactly how much someone should know.  This will be easy enough to explain and recognize as the human PCs come to recognize the existence of the supernatural.
  • Truthteller: Fiona is uncomfortable with falsehoods and does everything she can to avoid having to deliberately lie.  She can say things that are accurate but misleading, such as waving away her anachronistic tendencies by saying that her parents were poor and she never watched television growing up, and if she's forced to lie to protect the supernatural from disbelievers outside of the sorority, she will, but she despises it.  Her belief is that the supernatural should return to the world, that humanity is coming back to the readiness of tolerance and that the ignorance created only perpetuates a cycle of problems, but her view is one of a minority.  She likewise absolutely despises when people lie to her, not enough to do anything malicious to them, but certainly enough to confront them.
  • Willworking Limitations: The art of spellcraft is asserting one's will and belief over reality itself.  Since the Renaissance, there has been a general consensus by humanity that magic does not exist with an underlying unconscious desire that it did, which allows it to function in its current state.  Spells get wonky around disbelievers, around those who consider themselves supernaturally protected (such as the devoutly religious), and sometimes for reasons that a particular practitioner won't ever discover.  Trying to summon a chimera in the middle of Times Square with plenty of eyewitness disbelieving humans just has no chance to succeed; at best, the most supernaturally acute might think they hallucinated something for a moment or two.

Extras

An open place to include any extra information such as pets, a home or a favorite song.

I like to have the words wizard as male, witch as female, and warlock as nonbinary, with mage and other such words being more catch-all.

Fiona plans to move right into the dorm, though she may take the job of RA if she can get it.

I'll expressly state here that anyone who doesn't want to have any of her magic work on their character, for any reason, is welcome to say so.  I put this in as one of the limitations of willworking, primarily so players are free to be denied things they don't want their characters to have, even if the characters want it.

Further, in a similar vein, any player may let me know that Fiona had a negative prophecy about something and not to let their character have it, and she'll refuse.  It's very easy to come up with reasons like, "You'll regret it for the rest of your life if you try that and I won't do that to you" and she may even get "I don't know why it's a problem but I know it is.  You could end up dead if I do or worse, or somebody else could who didn't agree."  That's more or less the real reason I gave her prophetic dreams; I don't expect it to come up all that much beyond maybe telling her to come to this university.
It's all good, and it's all in fun.  Now get in the pit and try to love someone.

Quote from: AndyZ on May 04, 2024, 07:54:14 AMSo, this is totally none of my business, but I have some advice for singular they if it’d be welcome.

They'd probably be able to recognize the scars and such left over if they saw them, but I doubt they'd have seen them yet.

As for the singular they, I am quite aware of how to use it. I will, as most people of the time did, be ignoring the Victorian attempt to eliminate the singular pronouns other than 'he', whether that was due to attempts to push English into resembling French more than its Germanic roots, or because of all the people writing stuff about how 'the language should follow the natural order' which is always a phrase to be mocked, I've found. (I'm a historian, I am very well aware of how pronouns work in modern, middle and old English and could go on a rant about how words and sentence structure have changed over the years and how I really like that sort of thing, but I'll spare you all from my wording)

I'll mostly be using their name, honestly, or identifiers like, "The blonde hiding in the back" or whatever's appropriate at the time.

But yeah, I don't see either Ashley or Taylor being too open about having much of their bodies on display for either of them to have already noticed stuff, but absolutely am down for them seeing it while living together and knowing what they saw. I just don't see them as having interacted much if at all before this.
I don't know how stuff works in America so rather than have my character know stuff that I don't, she's fairly recently arrived in the country.

You're definitely more educated than I am on the subject, and hopefully I didn't embarrass myself ^_^

In Victorian times, they really tried to get rid of she/her pronouns?  Never knew about that but it's cool to know.

And I'm good with them not having talked much at all yet.  Ashley is open about being intersex, so people are free to know, though not in actually showing people her body.

I want to throw something to you since we're both playing shy characters, but I'm not sure what to suggest.  You're probably right that Ashley will just be giving casual waving from across the room and not really know how to strike up a conversation.

But hey, with the pheromones, I guess we won't have to worry about it for long.
It's all good, and it's all in fun.  Now get in the pit and try to love someone.

There was an attempt to push 'he' as the generic pronoun. Famously (and hilarious, an American English grammar book included the example "The ideal that every boy and girl should be so equipped that he shall not be handicapped in his struggle for social progress ...")

And, I mean, give them time, they'll probably run into each other in/near the shower or whatnot and see stuff. But yeah, the pheromones will speed stuff up a lot.
