Lustful Bride

This is the history of the world: In the beginning, the Primordials arose from the cosmic depths to forge a great Spiral of worlds, building their palaces and towers high amid the coils of the universe they created. These titans ruled over all things as immortal tyrants, and so the gods they had created plotted against them.

The Celestial Incarnae, gods of sun and moon and stars, conspired with Autochthon and Gaia to bestow their own power upon men, forging Exaltation. Chosen of the gods, the Exalted went to war with the titans, seeking to win worlds with their triumph.

The Exalted lost.

The Solar Exalted were loath to accept their defeat, but even they could not refuse the counsel of their Viziers, and the truth of their own eyes. In an act of defiant courage and utter despair, the Exalted Host fled into the world-body of Autochthonia, bringing as much of humanity as they could salvage, and then set a course for the infinite abyss of stars beyond the Spiral.

Cast into exile, they began to regroup and rebuild, preparing for that fateful day when they could return to the Spiral as saviors and conquerors.

It is four thousand years since the Exalted embarked on their long exodus. A Solar Deliberative reigns over the Eight Nations of Autochthonia, overseeing an unthink-able plan to reclaim their homeworld.

The Great Maker’s mortal sickness has been cured at the hands of the Chosen, his pantheon culled and remade to begin his transformation into a divine weapon, a war-world of titanic power.

But even after four millennia, they have yet to make their return. Hunted by the Primordials and their Green Sun Princes, wracked from within by internecine strife, the Exalted have yet to choose between the fragile peace of exile and the audacious hope of return.

Yet, another hurdle is about to come for the exiled Exalted. One which they could not have predicted, or prepared for in their many ages of fleeing their ancient foe, while preparing to retake the homeworld.

Traveling through the endless void of space, through the winds of the Wyld, past countless stars, nebulae, the Exalted have seen many things. Horrors and beauties in equal measure. Things that defy logic, reason, and possibility. Sometimes it is best to just accept what you find out there and try to make the best of it. Such is the case for the Solar Deliberative, as they approach another arm of the Spiral, and begin to pick up signs of there being life this far from their origin....human life no less.

Through their advanced methods of magitech, sorcery, and divination, they are able to pick up signals from the human population, broadcast out into space decades, or even a century ago. They look through divine telescopes to see the makeup of the planets, use spirit conjuration to begin probing the recently dead, and even make use of mechanical cogitators to make predictions of the planets and their peoples.

The Exalted of Autochthonia have come to learn of an isolated Star System, with a single shining sun, with 8 planets, an asteroid belt, with only the third planet in the system being naturally capable of supporting life. Though there is a high presence of a insect, fungi, hybrid species throughout much of the system.

Upon the third planet from the sun is a population of human beings, and human adjacent species, that are desperately fighting for their continued existence in a war that is not too dissimilar from the war which originally birthed the Exalted into Creation.

Mortal humans, those with psionic abilities, those who have made pacts with dark powers, or given themselves over to cybernetic enhancements, all fight in every continent on the planet against the dark forces invading from outside of stable reality. A foe which the Exalted know all too well, from the Unshaped Raksha, to the Primordials, the Green Sun Princes. It is a tale all too familiar to them.

The Terran humans have managed to hold their own against impossible odds, even crafting war machines not too dissimilar from Exalted fighter craft or Warstriders, though with some curious differences. It is just such a shame that they have been consigned to a terrible fate at the hands of uncaring gods and demons.

Human life has always existed on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinite horrors, and it was never meant for humans to voyage far...for the stars were not meant for us. Yet it is always in our nature to go further and be more than what we are. For that is the way of humanity, even with those who seemingly evolved an impossible distance away from the heart of Creation.

But the people of Autochthonia have their own problems, and must look towards their own well-being, resources, and people. Being able to help the Terrans out of the goodness of their own hearts is a luxury that few can afford, until fate itself seems to step in and alter their course for them.

What was once a sad curiosity, an underpowered mirror of their own circumstances, soon becomes something much more as several shards of Exaltation refuse to go back into the mortal population of Autochthonia. They instead begin to race out through the void, towards this pitiful little planet.

For as different as these human cousins might be from those of Creation, they have one major similarity that forces the Solar Deliberative to adjust their course towards the Sol system.

The peoples of Terra, valiantly defending their planet, are worthy of Exaltation.

They are the best that humanity, of any world, has to offer. So it is that the gifts of the Celestial Incarnae choose to bring the two human populations together in their time of mutual need.

For all that the Solar Deliberative would like to have a monopoly on their shards, the power and duties ascribed to the shards are beyond even their own power to influence. The Terrans have proven themselves worthy enough for 12 Shards of Solar Exaltation to escape containment and seek out worthy hosts, to imbue with the power of the Unconquered Sun. Even a handful of Lunar Exaltations have done the same.

Even one Exaltation is one too many, but the amount that has been gifted to the Earth necessitates investigation, and perhaps even integration. The Gunstar alters its planned course, and begins to move towards the Sol system.

It will take them a year and some change to get to Earth properly, so in the meantime they make plans for what to do, and try to keep the ancient enemy at bay, while sending out an advanced scout force in their fastest ship.

It has been some time since the Autochthonians have had to make peaceful First Contact, but at this point they need to see a return on their investment if they are going to devote so much time and effort into stopping for a single little, blue, planet in the backwaters of the universe.

The initial contact team is made up of those thought best fit for the task without risking the safety and operations of the Gunstar itself.

A Circle of Solars and Lunars. They shall be joined by three Sidereal Advisors and their Dragonblooded bodyguards (with some mortal and non-mortal support staff to act as attendants and handle the day-to-day ship operations while the celestials deal with the important matters).

The Aeon War continues on Earth.

Millions have died in the near constant attacks by the Fungi of Yuggoth, the Deep One servants of the Esoteric order of Dagon, and the mad hedonistic cultists of the Rapine Storm (worshipers of The King In Yellow).

So much has been lost, countless bits of culture, art, history, the very biosphere of the Earth has been damaged from the constant warfare as the New Earth Government struggles to keep the monsters at bay, in the desperate hope for some kind of victory.  For many years it looked as if there would be no hope, and all we were doing was buying more time before we were all consumed by the enemy, or driven into madness.

Then came the operational successes of 2087, consistently pushing the myriad of monsters back on multiple fronts. The storm came, and it broke itself upon our defenses. The Cultists tried to bring back their dark gods, but were stopped by brave (and mad) fools who never knew when to give up. Even the endless swarms of the Migou were beaten when their Hiveships faced assault during Operation Final Strike, and then the masterful hit by the Independent Solar Colonies forcing them to retreat to Pluto, abandoning their forces on Earth without support from the hiveship.

It has been almost a full year since allied orbital forces were able to stage a daring assault on the Mi-Gou hive on Pluto, but already the tide of the war has been turning in favor of the united defenders of the New Earth Government.

With the new year approaching, and many looking to 2088 as being the year which finally secures human victory in the Aeon War, and many are enlisting of their own free will, or working harder at the war factories, or just in general showing that the morale of the NEG, Nazzadi, and ISC is not broken. The Sol system may be lost, but we, are, not.

So long as a single person is willing to stand up and fight the Aeon War, all is not lost.

With the destruction of one Mi-Gou mothership, the second retreating back to Pluto to nurse the injured hives, orbital superiority is in the hands of the humans for the first time in a very long time.

The NEG, and their allies within the Nazzadi and the Independent Solar Colonies have decided to push their advantage and assault the Rapien Storm, the Mi-gou, the Deep Ones, on every front. Now is the time to retake as much lost territory as possible. To take back critical facilities and infrastructure, while denying the very same to our foes.

A new wave of enlistees is coming, as the way is prepared by the many battle-hardened veterans of the human diaspora. To many, this might finally be where the tide turns, and Earth emerges victorious.

They have no idea how right they are. Though not for the reasons they think. It is all battlefield rumor and 'Need-To-Know' at the moment, but stories are already circulating of Terran super-soldiers being sent to the frontlines. Soldiers with impossible durability, intelligence, psionic powers, and more. The only way to tell them apart from the average grunt is by noticing this supposed 'Golden Glow' around them when they are in the middle of combat.

But that is just rumor. What kind of super-soldier would be glowing like the sun on a battlefield?

Operation Broken Hammer has proven to be a costly win so far. But the bugs and cultists have been forced into retreat in several areas. Land is being retaken, people are being liberated, and the initiative is still in the hands of the NEG and their allies, as they use their orbital superiority to the fullest. If they cannot retake a position, they bomb it to hell and keep moving forward.

With every step of land retaken, the morale of humanity improves, and there have already been some impossible victories snatched out of the jaws of defeat. It feels like they are being watched over by some divine power, and soon the Terrans will learn just how true that is, when the Twelve Terran Exalted make their presence known.

And so we begin 2088, with things looking up for the NEG on many fronts, as a Xenomix (Human-Nazzadi Hybrid) woman of the NEG Mech Corps has a chance encounter on the battlefield that proves her worthy of the blessings of the Unconquered Sun.

To be among the twelve Chosen of Earth, to be Exalted among mankind.

So, this is my insane little crossover idea of combining the Exalted Alternate Universe scenario of Gunstar Autochthonia with the Cthulhutech setting. Not really sure what else to say about it. I hope that it makes sense and you can see how I tried to fit the two settings together. Given they both have some heavy anime inspiration, it just feels like putting chocolate and peanut butter together :P

I'm thinking of playing as a Dawn Caste Solar, but I also have experience in playing as a Twilight Caste, so I'd be okay with that too. Maybe a Night Caste.

I'm hoping to find someone who can play/run this game in a more rules-lite fashion. We will be using the Exalted 2E system, and the Cthulhutech materials would mostly be worldbuilding and setting stuff, rather than being used fully for system stuff. I'm not the best when it comes to mechanics, so I don't know how one would fully translate the stats from one game to the other.

I should also say upfront that it has been quite a while (I think like close to two years now?) since I last played Exalted, so I might need a refresher on system concepts and the like. A 'Training Wheels' or tutorial section to start us off would be greatly appreciated as I try and remember how to do all of this. The fun part is that this can help me more accurately portray my character learning the ropes as well.

I ask any prospective partner/GM to please be patient with me as I re-learn how to play.

If you are interested (and familiar with Exalted, system and lore wise) please send me a PM and lets discuss this. :)  If you are unfamiliar with Chtulhutech its alright, I can help in that regard and fill you in on what you might be missing.

Some initial concepts and ideas which can be used to expand on this crossover and give it some longevity:

-The Old/Elder Gods that plague Earth may straight up be the same foes that the Exalted fought before, or their descendants. Carrying out actions against any human populations which evolved in space for whatever reason. Nyarlathotep may actually be a Raksha, hence his love of just messing with humanity.

-The Solar Deliberative may be interested in learning about the D-Engines that the Terrans have developed, allowing them to tap into Eldritch Energies (which might be just energies of the Wyld where the Raksha come from). They might also be fascinated with the Terran method of creating Engels, and using Psionic powers that do things which they themselves normally only achieve through Magic.

-There is also the more pragmatic approach of the Solars wanting to secure Sol because it has a life supporting planet, a human population in the Billions, with new technology and sciences. Even if Exalted Magitech is superior in every way, the fact that mortals without Essence were able to do this would be of great interest to them.

Not to mention the still untapped mineral resources of the asteroid belt. The various other planets in Sol that they could strip-mine for their own uses, before moving on to the nearby Alpha Centauri system to do the same. Even if the Deliberative didn't want to do this, they stand to gain from making a refueling stop at Sol and AC, before going back to their original course.

-The Terran Twelve are publicly known figures on Earth. Something akin to a superstar and a supersoldier in the eyes of many. Think of how Mech Pilots tend to be depicted in Anime, or the Jaeger Pilots in Pacific Rim, combined with Captain America.

-The dark powers of the Necronomicon and other similar tomes might be something akin to the spells in Exalted that make use of Demons, just more dangerous as they are not bound the same way demons are in core Exalted.

-The Exalted first contact ship is set to arrive on Earth within a year, so it gives time for the Exalted of Earth to get strong and not be immediate pushovers for the more skilled Deliberative Exalted. They may be interested in the Aeon War, and find it a way to strike back against their ancient foes.

-The politics of Earth vs Autochthonia could be interesting, as the Gunstar has every advantage on its side, but the Terrans have their own batch of Exalted, and some weapons which could be troublesome for the Gunstar.

Timeline of the Cthulhutech Setting (with some adjustments and recycled from a previous game).

Timeline (2013 AD to 2088 AD)

The time of changes. (2013 to 2019)

(Early 21st Century) The New Internationalist Movement - International relations are strained. An interdependent global economy, international efforts to combat world wide terrorism, and the common pursuit of civil rights forces a reevaluation of the United Nations and NATO’s role in world affairs. Backed by international business interests, diplomats from the European Union and Russia call for a restructuring of the United Nations charter supporting greater central authority to legislate and enforce international law.

(2013) The Mysteries Within discovered - Translated from an ancient Germanic dialect, The Mysteries Within, or Die Geheimnisse Innen, is established as the oldest known and most obscure reference dedicated to the principles of inter-dimensional nonEuclidean geometry.  It outlines the manipulation of harnessed eldritch energies through common reference points that intersect the curvature of inter-dimensional space. The basic and most practical use of such energies is the development of an inexhaustible power source based on the principles of eldritch sorcery. The memory of human history contains only the most fleeting and sporadic references to this extremely rare and powerful text.  It last appeared in Italy during the late 12th century prior to the rise of the Inquisition of Pope Gregory IX. The Mysteries Within once again disappeared into obscurity until finally discovered among the collection of a quiet, reclusive scholar named Dr. Harrison Lovelorn. It is donated, along with the rest of his library, to Miskatonic University in Arkham, Massachusetts upon Lovelorn’s mysterious disappearance.

(2015) New United Nations established - Fueled by a distaste for fronting the majority of the world’s military police actions, and by the need to invigorate a long stagnant economy by reducing international trade restrictions, the United States begins to embrace the New Internationalist Movement. US President Amanda Stimson negotiates with European and Russian officials to develop a central United Nations government based on democratic principles. NATO becomes the military arm of the UN to enforce Security Council resolutions. The US Congress ratifies the Stimson Act. This Act grants the United Nations legislative authority over international law, control over trade tariffs, and the right to mobilize an international military force when authorized by the Security Council. Other nations follow suit and the New United Nations is born.

(2017) The rise of a New Frontierism - Under New United Nations (NUN) mandates, international efforts are launched to explore new forms of natural resources. Planning for the Atlantis Project is launched to explore undersea agriculture as a meanproviding sustenance to a growing world population. Likewise, Project Prometheus is organized with the intention of sending manned missions to explore Mars and the moons of Jupiter and Saturn.

Time of new Discoveries (2019-2051)
(2019) Teresa Ashcroft pioneers Arcanotechnology – Teresa Ashcroft, a brilliant young doctoral student at Miskatonic University, stumbles across The Mysteries Within while conducting research within the University’s restricted archive.  Increasingly obsessed with the potential of her newfound knowledge, she utilizes the book’s nonEuclidean mathematical principles to pioneer an entirely new scientific field of study. The development of arcane-technology, or arcanotech, successfully combines eldritch sorcery and scientific principles into a functional discipline. Though her theories would revolutionize the world, the study of Arcanotech would eventually drive Teresa Ashcroft mad.

(2023) Simon Yi begins work on D-Engine - Teresa Ashcroft’s admittance to a psychiatric care facility effectively derails further arcanotech research. That is, until one of her colleagues, Simon Yi, chooses to continue the research project on his own. Consulting Ashcroft’s notes, Yi begins work detailing a design for an arcanotech power source as described in The Mysteries Within. The product of the design is what Yi calls the Dimensional Engine, or D-Engine for short. Unfortunately, like his predecessor, Yi is also driven mad by his exploration of eldritch secrets.

(2026) Doctor Golvash Czeny expands on Arcanotech Research – Much of Simon Yi’s early success was due to consultations with his close friend, Doctor Golvash Czeny.  Czeny, a Polish born Freemason and noted expert in quantum theory, worked as a professor at the University of Ingolstadt in Bavaria. Yi’s divorce from sanity left Miskatonic University trustees desperate to find someone capable of carrying on Ashcroft and Yi’s work. Knowing of his familiarity with portions of Yi’s research, the trustees invite Czeny to Arkham to continue the exploration of arcanotechnology. Czeny is well aware of the fate of his predecessors. Understanding the danger involved in tampering with knowledge of this kind, he assembles a research team to divide the project across several sub-sections. In doing so, he is able to preserve the sanity of each research team member. Despite this precaution however, many of his staff experiences nervous breakdowns, psychotic episodes, and regular nightmares.

(2027) Ashcroft Foundation Formed – Golvash Czeny and Alice Faye Morgan, of Miskatonic University’s board of trustees, soon realize that the scope of arcanotech research would soon outgrow the University’s ability to support it. They begin work to form a corporation that would carry arcanotech research to a new level. Most of the corporation’s funding is gathered through private sources, though some of the funding comes from government grants coordinated through Teresa Ashcroft’s father, Senator Albert Ashcroft. With Morgan as CEO and Czeny in charge of Research and Development, the Ashcroft Foundation, named in honor of Teresa’s pioneering work, is created to lead the world’s next technological revolution.

(2030) The First D-Engine - The Ashcroft Foundation’s first success is the creation of the prototype Arcanotech Dimensional Engine, or D-Engine for short. “alpha” testing of the D-Engine goes well. However, many of the test staff are injured or killed when a D-Engine prototype malfunctions, causing a “Hazardous Lifeform” to come through an inter-dimensional gate. Despite this setback, however, the D-Engine is successfully tested as an inexhaustible source of power.

(2031) D-Engine Vehicles tested - The D-Engine is eventually tested as a primary source of energy for vehicular applications. Strangely, initial tests with D-Engine powered vehicles reveal an interesting side effect for the vehicle operator. The test driver’s focus becomes radically attuned to the physical characteristics and performance capabilities of the vehicle. It’s almost as if the driver can “feel” the vehicle as an extension of his or her own body. Foundation officials see this side effect to be an unforeseen benefit.

(2033) The D-Engine goes public – The wonder of the D-Engine is revealed to the world in a massive press conference. The scientific community balks and decries the new technology, but the strength of the evidence is clear. After three months of trying to debunk the D-Engine, the scientific community is forced to accept the principles of arcanotech. A new discipline is born, and the face of the world is changed forever.

(2034 to 2039) The Cascaded D-Engine Generator - The CDG plant replaces hydroelectric and nuclear power plants as a primary source of commercial electrical power.

(2034) The Ashcroft Foundation becomes the largest corporation in the world – The sheer size and economic strength of the Foundation dwarfs other international corporations almost overnight. It also establishes influential lobbyist representation within the New United Nations.

(2036) The Development of the A-Pod - Solving the previously unresolved energy source problem, D-Engines are applied to anti-gravity Lifters to create the world’s first fully contained anti-gravity pod system (A-Pods). Prototype vehicles are developed utilizing A-Pods to provide lift and thrust capability. A-Pod vehicles revolutionize transportation throughout the world. Nations that formerly relied on oil exports to support their economy begin to find themselves in a financial crisis.

(2039 to 2043) Exploration into Space - D-Engine technology with A-Pod drives is applied to new reusable spacecraft. The Prometheus Project lands the first man on the moon in decades, and begins the exploration of Mars and the moons of Jupiter and Saturn.

(2040 to 2043) The first Arcanotech Mech designed - The Ashcroft Foundation is commissioned by the Atlantis and Prometheus Projects to develop a functional work vehicle which could manage construction and exploration tasks in an inhospitable environment. Dr. Haru Akimoto is assigned to the project  Inspired by late 20th century Japanese popular culture, he designs a prototype D-Engine vehicle with a mecha-style sapient form. He argues that such a form would provide maximum operational flexibility and be best suited for activities performed in a variety of environments. The prototype vehicle performs beyond all expectations and the Ranger class Mecha Utility Vehicle (MUV) is put into full production.

(2045 to 2051) Atlantis and Prometheus Projects become a reality The efficiency of the Ranger MUV leads to the rapid construction of several underwater bio-domes and a new international space station.  It also leads to the establishment of a moon-based mining operation and small colonies on Mars, Jupiter’s moons Ganymede and Callisto, and Saturn’s moon Titan. The side effects of the D-Engine become a noted factor in the Ranger’s success.

New Cold War. (2047 to 2057)

(2047) New Cold War begins - On Earth, international tensions rise. Oil producing nations of the Middle East secede from the NUN over its endorsement of D-Engine Technology. China, which had declined to sign the NUN charter because of the organization’s democratic foundation, aligns itself with the Middle East. A new cold war begins prompting a rapid increase in capital expenditure on the part of the NUN toward military research.

(2048) Arcanotech Mecha evolve into weapons of war - The NUN begins to experiment with a military application of Dr. Akimoto’s Mecha as multi-functional vehicles of war. The D-Engine Operator Extension Side Effect (OESE) drastically increases pilot performance. Government contract requirements are submitted to research and development corporations to begin designing military mecha prototypes. Potentially, these versatile mecha suits may replace armored military vehicles as the primary mobile combat platform.

(2050) The Hermes Project completed - Contracted by the NUN, the Chrysalis Corporation designs a system of satellites, powered by D-Engine generators, to be deployed in various orbits around the sun. Designated the Hermes Project, this system would provide a communications relay web through the solar system providing instant contact between Earth and the Mars, Ganymede, Callisto, and Titan colonies. The scope of this project propels the Chrysalis Corporation into the arena of major international business players.

(2051) First Mecha War Machines deployed - The first combat mecha are unveiled to the public. They range from 20 to 60 feet tall, and perform in a startling array of trial scenarios.  They capture the imagination of the public, though political representatives of the Middle East-China Coalition are visibly nervous.

(2052) R’lyeh Text discovered - The Chrysalis Corporation, a leading manufacturer of arcanotechnology since the success of the Hermes Project, discovers a complete copy of the R’lyeh Text. Scribed upon stone in the language of ancient Assyria, the text is found among the library of King Assur-bani-pal at the ruins of Nineveh along the Tigris River. Cross-referencing fragments of the Necronomicon, Chrysalis Corporation researchers unravel the ancient formula that is the Rite of Transfiguration. Through its practice, the Rite invokes upon its recipient the form of mankind’s antediluvian masters. The R’lyeh Text describes this form to be the only way in which one might survive the return of something called the Great Old Ones. Corporation executives see this new discovery as a way to compete with the power of the Ashcroft Foundation prompting a new secret Transfiguration Research Program.

(2053) A new enemy plots against humanity - The Mi-Go of Pluto or, as they refer to their world, Yuggoth, find themselves faced with territorial competition within the solar system. Humans have accepted the principles of eldritch sorcery and have developed arcanotech war machines. In addition, their colonial interests have spread into the solar system, threatening Mi-Go territorial integrity. Finding this situation unacceptable, the Mi-Go begin to weave a plan to steal the D-Engine design for themselves and drive mankind back to where he belongs – incarcerated on Earth, impotent, and unaware of their Mi-Go masters.

(2054) The Original Dhohanoids - The first eldritch shapeshifters are created from survivors of the initial Rite of Transfiguration tests. Because of the key transformation Rite of Dho-Hna, these shapeshifters are referred to as Dhohanoids. The Dhohanoids are human beings who can assume the horrific guise of mythos creatures at will. As is always the case when dabbling with the power of the Old Ones, many of the Transfiguration Project scientists pay for their knowledge with the loss of their minds. By all human standards, those who have successfully survived the Rite of Transfiguration emerge from the process clinically insane.

(2055) Mi-Go steal D-Engine design - Mi-Go operatives infiltrate the Ashcroft Foundation’s headquarters in Arkham and steal D-Engine design documents and other research records pertaining to arcanotechnology.

(2056) Birth of the Nazzadi - In order to maintain their secrecy from mankind, the Mi-Go decide to create a gigantic new military force based on their advanced knowledge of genetics and cloning. Equipped with arcanotechnology stolen from Earth this new genetically engineered army is staged to appear as if their origin is beyond our solar system. The Nazzadi, as they are called, are tasked to invade and occupy Earth while concealing the home world and existence of the Mi-Go.

(2056 to 2059) The Mi-Go prepare for war – Advanced Mi-Go production techniques result in an army of arcanotech mecha for the Nazzadi. A Nazzadi armada is created and fully equipped within three years. The Mi-Go are fully confident that humanity will not be able to stand against the Nazzadi war machine.

(2057) Chrysalis Corporation usurped by Children of Chaos – Children of Chaos spies learn of the Chrysalis Corporation’s Transfiguration Project. Seeing this as a sign that the time of the Old Ones is nigh, Children of Chaos operatives begin to infiltrate the corporation. Before long, the Dhohanoids and the Chrysalis Corporation are under the full control of the COC.

(2058) The exploration space ship Ashcroft disappears - Named after the founder of arcanotechnology, the “Ashcroft” is launched in 2057 to explore the outer planets of the solar system. Billed as the greatest technical achievement in history, the Ashcroft’s mission is seen as a new hope for humanity among the tensions of the Cold War. However, communications are lost with the Ashcroft during its exploration of Neptune in 2058. The news shocks the world. Shock turns to intense worry, however, when soon afterwards contact with the colonies is rapidly lost, one by one.

The First Archanotech War (2059 to 2065)

(2059) The First Arcanotech War begins - The Nazzadi armada attacks Earth. Orbital space stations and the mining colony on the moon are completely destroyed. The birthplace of arcanotechnology in Arkham, Ashcroft Foundation headquarters and portions of Miskatonic University are leveled. The war is destined to be a long and bloody conflict.

(2059) The New Earth Government - The very face of government and politics changes forever. NUN declares martial law in the face of this new threat. NUN supercedes independent national government authority. Rapid diplomatic overtures toward China and the Middle East, in the light of this new crisis, lead to the establishment of a new global organization based on the principles of NUN. Under the pressure of the invasion, the NEG (New Earth Government) is formed.

(2060) Children of Chaos initiate plan to release the Old Ones - The Children of Chaos make effective and decisive use of the Dhohanoids. Seeking the release of the Great Old Ones upon the Earth, the COC uses the Dhohanoids to gather as much hidden and ancient knowledge as possible. The chaos provided by the Mi-Go War is the sign of times that will usher the End of the Aeon.

(2062) Ta’ge Fragments transcribed – On a mission for the Children of Chaos, Dhohanoids discover a heretofore unknown text on an excursion to the deepest regions of the Arctic. Transcribed from writings found on a large obsidian obelisk known as the Ta’ge, the text is called the Ta’ge Fragments. It contains lost knowledge pertaining to the Elder Gods and other Elder Things. The Ta’ge Fragments are transported back to the Chrysalis Corporation’s headquarters in Johannesburg, South Africa for further study. The Ta’ge obelisk is destroyed by the Dhohanoids once its knowledge is transcribed to insure that the COC maintains a monopoly on its content.

(2062) Renegade rebellion within the Children of Chaos - As the Ta’ge Fragments are studied, renegades within the Children of Chaos steal the precious work and destroy the Chrysalis Corporation’s research records. These renegades have come to oppose the COC’s vision of a New World Order. Of the fourteen renegades who rebel against the Cult, only three escape with the Fragments and their lives.

(2062) New Earth Government capital moved to Chicago - The former NEG capital of New York City is decimated in a Nazzadi attack. Feeling the need to reestablish itself in an area that could be better defended by land-based military resources, the NEG sets up a new government in Chicago.

(2063) Elder Society formed - Gathering likeminded others to their cause, the former Children of Chaos members create the Elder Society. They begin to decipher the Ta’ge Fragments in hiding and build their plan to stand against the Children of Chaos.

(2063) The Ashcroft Foundation moves its headquarters to Chicago The destruction of Arkham at the hands of the Nazzadi, as well as the perceived need to be close to the wheels of NEG government, prompts Foundation board members to move their headquarters permanently to Chicago.

(2064) The Nazzadi War Machine begins to fracture - The Nazzadi eventually begin to ask questions about their origin and purpose. Some of them rally behind a renegade general, Kyrsa, who seeks power for himself. Another general, Vreta, realizes through his contact with humans that the Nazzadi quarrel with humanity has no substance and soon makes peace. It is through him that mankind learns the true nature of the Mi-Go and their plans. Vreta’s commanders begin to rally Nazzadi forces to the new alliance while only a quarter remains loyal to the Mi-Go. It isn’t long before the hostile Nazzadi army falls.

(2064) The Rite of Sacred Bonding revealed - The Elder Society deciphers a modified Rite of Transfiguration from the Ta’ge Fragments. It is known as the Rite of Sacred Bonding. This modified Rite enhances the recipient, bonding him with an Elder Symbiote. Through proper training and will, the warrior can control the powers of the symbiote form. The symbiote itself exists in extra-dimensional space, manifesting around its master when called upon.

(2065) The First Arcanotech War ends - Nazzadi delegates under General Vretha meet with NEG President Nathaniel Roosevelt at a conference outside of Chicago to discuss the terms of peace. The Schaumburg Treaty is signed and the war is officially over. The treaty promises the creation of a Nazzadi state. Many Nazzadi will eventually settle on the islands of Cuba and Haiti.  Many others are assimilated into NEG society. However, renegade Nazzadi bands continue to exist and challenge NEG authority

The Decade of Peace/Reconstruction/The Battle of Yuggoth (2065 to 2073)
(2065) The first Tagers - The Elder Society attempts to perform the Rite of Sacred Bonding on selected individuals. Of the initial six test subjects, only two survive the process. The test subject symbiotes manifest as shells or suits of an arcanotech nature, imbuing the host with great power. Named after the Ta’ge Fragments, Tagers become the perfect weapon to fight the Dhohanoids and their COC masters.

(2066) The Mi-Go prepare to mount a new offensive - Displeased with the First Arcanotech War’s outcome, the now exposed Mi-Go face the prospect of an Earth attack against Pluto. They decide on a preemptive strike utilizing every resource at their disposal including arcanotech mecha, advanced scientific and technological expertise, and eldritch sorcery. The Nazzadi threat of Earth is pale by comparison.

(2066) Following the end of the First Arcanotech War, the survivors of the Nazzadi Grand Migration Fleet are left without purpose or direction. With their culture and history exposed as a sham, the Nazzadi have nothing to live for but their calling as warriors, and are now without a war to fight. Knowing that they are not cut out for a peaceful existence, and unwilling to live among their former enemies as unwelcome refugees, the majority of the surviving Nazzadi decide on a different course: they will turn the Migration Fleet around, head back to Yuggoth, and take the fight to the ones who created them.

A minority of the Nazzadi survivors - still tens of millions strong - elect to stay on Earth. Some of these are noncombatants - scientists, engineers, sorcerers, teachers, and other roles from within the Migration Fleet not concerned primarily with fighting. Some are Nazzadi who started families during the trip to Earth and the war, and now wish to remain on Earth and live peacefully for the sake of their children. Some are fascinated by aspects of human culture that they've been exposed to, or have simply grown tired of fighting, and so elect to remain on Earth. A large group among them are combatants, left behind as a "home guard" by Vreta in case the worst should come to pass - this latter group integrates into the NEG military.

(2066) The Ashcroft Foundation unveils their newest invention, the DCell - The arcanotech answer to portable energy storage, the D-Cell revolutionizes small device applications that cannot, due to size constraints, utilize a full sized D-Engine. Soon everything from powered armor and personal transportation vehicles to portable computers and energy assault weapons are powered by D-Cells.

(2067) Reconstruction - The efforts to rebuild a war torn Earth are well under way. President Ryoko Fujiwara presents legislation to create what he calls the “New Society”. The concrete jungles of a previous age are replaced by new architectural marvels constructed of the latest in synthetic industrial polymer compounds. Some new cities, such as New Tokyo completely replace the ruins of the old. One “New Society” initiative is the establishment of a new Nazzadi state within the NEG. The Nazzadi are granted control of Cuba and Haiti bringing new economic opportunity to the existing human inhabitants. The new Nazzadi state is named Nazza-Duhni.

(2067) The Nazzadi Fleet under Field Marshal Vreta battles its way across the solar system, fighting its way through attacks by the nascent Migou armed forces, spacefaring monsters summoned with Migou sorcery, and recently-grown Nazzadi loyalists who were intended to be reinforcements for the war. Although they suffer horrific casualties, the Nazzadi Fleet reaches Yuggoth with most of its strength intact. The Battle of Yuggoth begins.

(2067) The Shadow War begins - Armed with a force of Tagers, the Elder Society begins its shadow war against the Children of Chaos and the Dhohanoids.

(2068) The Global Intelligence Agency encounters the Elder Society, the hard way - GIA field agents discover what they believe to be a terrorist cell under the control of Nazzadi renegades operating in Bucharest, Romania.  GIA had long hunted down anarchist groups who, for reasons of their own, seemed to identify with the warlike ways of the Nazzadi.  Upon raiding the suspect location in Bucharest, GIA agents were rather surprised to discover that their adversary was instead a group of Dhohanoids. It was the timely intervention of a Tager team which ultimately saved most of the GIA agent’s lives. Since then, certain elements of the GIA and the Elder Society have operated under a cooperative, if not tenuous, arrangement.

(2068) At Yuggoth, the Nazzadi encounter the Migou Hive Fleet - several Hive Ships supported by a massive armada, which was being prepared for a second-wave assault on Earth.

In a pitched space battle, Vreta and the Nazzadi Fleet attack the Hive Fleet and Yuggoth's orbital defenses head-on. All but a tiny fraction of the Nazzadi Fleet - including Vreta's flagship - are destroyed. In exchange, however, the Nazzadi manage to destroy all but one of the Hive Ships being prepared by the Migou, and cripple the last remaining ship. Suicide teams of fast-attack mecha land on Yuggoth's surface and infiltrate the tunnels below, managing to seriously damage much of the Migou's mass-production infrastructure, some even making it into the nesting grounds of the Hives, and destroying everything they can.

The Battle of Yuggoth ends with a fraction of the Nazzadi fleet limping home, and the Migou war machine set back by years. Many celebrate this as a true victory for humanity, and for their Nazzadi brethren. Popular oppinion of the Nazzadi does a complete 180 and many begin to openly embrace them as part of the human family for their sacrifices, and their stunning (if costly) victory.

Yet, overconfidence begins to sink into NEG command, as many assume that the Migou will never again be a threat, and do not take the proper precautions to prepare for an inevitable return of hostilities by the Fungi of Yuggoth.

(2073) The coming of the Unnamed One - The Children of Chaos, using the Chrysalis Corporation as a front, launch a new project to bring rise to the forces of oblivion, corruption, and decay. The Yellow King Project comes to fruition on a Tibetan plateau known as Leng in the ancient texts. Through Yog-Sothoth, the avatar of the Dead God Hastur the Unnamable comes into our world.  His appearance is that of a grotesque man in ragged, kingly robes and a yellow mask.

The Second Archanotech War(2074 to 2077)

(2074) The Second Arcanotech War begins - The Mi-Go renew their war against humanity. Using eldritch sorcery, they release horrible mythos creatures upon the planet to soften up their enemy before entering their arena themselves.

(2074) The Disciples of the Unnamable gather - The Disciples of the Unnamable assemble in Central Asia under two factions. The Yellow Storm, composed of the more rabid servants of the Dead God, seek to pave the way for the return of the Old Ones by scouring all trace of humanity from the Earth. The Death Shadows, encompassing the more devious and sinister of the Dead God’s followers, seek toinfiltrate humanity to promote corruption and debasement of its society. Their purpose is to reduce humanity to a level of servitude as befitting the Great Old Ones. The Unnamed One does not support or judge either path; his silence lends both sides to believe in their own righteousness.

(2075 to 2077) The Mi-Go invade Earth – Armed with their own style of arcanotech mecha, the Mi-Go launch an attack against the NEG. They are twice the Nazzadi force and a fraction of their numbers in the previous Arcanotech War. The MiGo capture humans to create reprogrammed “Blanks” as servitors. Within two years, the NEG has lost one third of the Earth to Mi-Go occupation. Within these areas, the Mi-Go don’t kill the inhabitants, they experiment on and enslave them.

(2075) The Children of Chaos renew the search for Cthulhu - The Children of Chaos begin to search for evidence of Cthulhu within the depths of the oceans. Making contact with Dagon and his Deep Ones, the COC resurrect the Esoteric Order of Dagon. Dagon’s new order, composed of Deep Ones, Hybrids, Spawn, and Cultists, consolidate their power in the Azores as a precursor to the domination of Earth’s oceans.

(2076) The Esoteric Order of Dagon emerges as a new power Dedicated to rediscovering R’lyeh and awaking the sleeping god Cthulhu, the Esoteric Order of Dagon gathers their forces to take the seas as their own. At first, ships go missing. Then, Hybrids begin to spawn among coastal communities around the world.

(2076) Weisskopf accident creates The Zone - An “alpha” test of a new arcanotech weapon under the supervision of Doctor Helmut Weisskopf goes wrong at a test facility in the Nevada desert. The resulting explosion seemingly rips a fissure in space, creating a large black area about 80 miles in radius. Las Vegas disappears without a trace. Strange creatures begin to emerge from the Zone. A marked increase in paranormal psychic – or para-psychic – activity is noted among certain talented individuals.

(2077) The Yellow Storm launches a campaign of terror - The violent arm of the Unnamable’s followers begins its assault upon the NEG. Southeast Asia is soon consumed by the Storm. Hastur’s children begin to threaten China and Indonesia.

(2077) Poseidon Base destroyed - Located on the Hatteras Plain of the Atlantic Ocean floor, Poseidon Base was one of two underwater military installations operated by the NEG. Poseidon and its Pacific sister installation, Neptune Base, proved to be valuable assets in the war against the Nazzadi. Unfortunately, and without warning, Poseidon Base was attacked and destroyed by the forces of Dagon. Reports were soon received describing several Atlantis Project agricultural facilities in the Atlantic, doomed to the same fate. Though the public was not fully aware of the danger, officials within the NEG quickly grow to understand the nature of this new menace.

(2077) The Ashcroft Foundation establishes the St. George Research Facility - Responding to the influx of extra-dimensional lifeforms emerging from the Zone, as well as the marked increase in para-psychic activity in the region, the Foundation decides to open a research facility within the Zone vicinity to study these phenomena.  The St. George Facility includes the Center for Xenogenetic Research (CXR) and the Para-Psychic Investigations Bureau (PIB).

The Aeon War(2078-Now)
(2078) The Second Arcanotech War ends and The Aeon War begins The NEG officially recognizes the Cults as a new threat. Faced with the power of two different, yet equally dangerous enemies, NEG strategists understand that the terms of warfare have change completely. With Earth now the battleground for three independent antagonists, a new war evolves to replace the old.

(2078) The Mi-Go respond to the Cult threat - The Mi-Go, knowing that they would be enslaved along with humans, oppose the Old Ones return. While despising upstart humanity and their traitorous Nazzadi servants, the Mi-Go battle against the Cults with equal tenacity.

(2079) Work begins on the Engel Project – Though formidable, standard Mecha seem incapable of stemming the tide of Mi-Go and Cultist incursions against the NEG. The Ashcroft Foundation, in conjunction with top-secret NEG scientific research personnel, launches a secret experiment to create new, more powerful arcanotech mecha. Code-named the “Engel Project,” project scientists experiment with bio-organic arcanotechnology. Despite the considerable precautions, many of the original staff lose their minds.

(2080) The Yellow Storm’s purge continues - The armies of the Unnamable reach the northern coast of Australia and as far west as Turkmenistan. GIA sources report skirmishes between Yellow Storm and Mi-Go forces.

(2081) The Engel Prototype is tested - Utilizing new levels of eldritch sorcery, the first Engel is brought on-line. The prototype is as much a living thing as a machine. Physical mecha-pilot interface is facilitated through a control capsule inserted into the spinal cord. This interface is referred to as Synthesis, as the mech and pilot minds merge to create a frightening warrior. The first tests are 100% successful.

(2081) The NEG Containment Policy - A rash of Hybrid infestations spread through the New England coast of North America, as well as parts of the Irish, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Brazilian, and West African coastlines. NEG military forces are dispatched to quarantine these areas and to prevent a further spreading of the infestation. A policy of “containment” is adopted against Dagon’s followers until such time as the Mi-Go can be defeated and the entire might of NEG resources can be turned against the Cults.

(2082) Engel Phase II combat field-testing produces destructive results - The first Engel field-test goes awry. Pilots gradually lose control of their Engels during combat trials. The Engels are far more bloodthirsty and destructive than anticipated, resulting in considerable enemy and civilian casualties. Active Engel deployment is contingent on solving this problem.

(2083) A new Synthesis and better Engel control - Engel Synthesis Interface (ESI) is redesigned utilizing arcanotech implant enhancers within the pilot’s brain. These new control mechanisms create the degree of control needed to effectively control Engels in widespread combat. However, there is a drawback – the pilot is now attuned to only one Engel. He cannot pilot another Engel properly unless he is re-attuned to a new one – a process that takes days.

(2084) Engels successfully deployed as a new NEG weapon - Engels enter the field of battle, and provide the NEG with a needed edge. NEG forces can finally face the minions of the Great Old Ones effectively.  However, Engels are difficult to produce and trainable pilots are difficult to find. Engels compose only one fifth of the NEG’s mecha fighting force.

(2085) Major engagements across the board as the NEG and the invader and cultists forces trade casualties across the entire planet. With aid from other secretive groups, Humanity and the Nazzadi have managed to prolong the war long enough for the NEG to develop new tactics and technologies, and for a secret ally to begin building up its forces.

Current Events:

Major Events of 2086:

The Fall of China - the NEG was not able to hold what remained of free China between the Migou and the Rapine Storm.  What NEG forces did manage to evacuate now occupy the Philippines and Japan, the last remaining free ground in Asia outside of India and portions of the Middle East.  Papua New Guinea and Australia are now the major targets in that part of the world.

The Eldritch Society Stops Shub-Niggurath - Tagers in western North America put a stop to a cult ritual to summon Shub-Niggurath into our dimension, managing to save the world without anyone outside the Society knowing it.

The Esoteric Order of Dagon Learns of a Celestial Map - Special investigators learn that an old Italian family held a map that was a lead to an island in the mid-Atlantic where an old R'lyehan temple is located, which contains a piece of a map necessary to the Esoteric Order's goal of raising R'lyeh and resurrecting Cthulhu.  The NEG response is swift - the island is nuked to prevent the map from falling into the hands of the enemy.

The NEG Learns Of The Second Hive Ship - an NEG operation against Juneau takes back the city, drives out the Migou who were using it as a test site for seismic weaponry, and the assaulting operators learn that there is a second Migou Hive Ship bound for Earth.  The operation is a victory, but at a high price - no one can know about the second Hive Ship, and the Migou's seismic weapons erupted Mt. Rainier, seriously disrupting the region.

Major Events of 2087:

The Storm Breaks - the Rapine Storm, under the command of a Desolate One known as Fu-Li Feng, invades Australia and destroys the city of Darwin.  In the combat, however, a team of the NEG's best pilots manage to kill the Storm leader, scattering his army and driving it back from the shores of Australia after his two lieutenants fall victim to infighting and a precision strike by GIA GHOST operatives.

Operation Final Strike - the NEG attack against the Migou Hive Ship in orbit is a partial success - the commandos attach nukes to several portions of the ship which are subsequently detonated, severely hampering the operational capabilities of the ship.  Those that manage to escape do so with several prizes for the R&D boys back home; those that haven't have a gigantic ship in which to hide, and hands on the triggers of several more nukes.  In addition, the NEG drives the Migou out of eastern Alaska, as well as destroying a pair of swam ships - the operational ships for the Migou on Earth.

The Migou Are Attacked - the Independent Solar Colonies attack the small skeleton force of Migou that still inhabit Pluto, making off with several potential tech advances, and forcing the second Hive Ship to turn around and head back to Pluto to prevent their base in the solar system from being completely overrun.  The ISC declares its existence to the NEG, and the two powers ally.

Operation Vanguard - the Children of Chaos attempt to infiltrate and subvert the Office of Internal Security.  Unknown to them, the OIS has already made contact with the Eldritch Society and learned the truth of the Shadow War, thanks in part to a cadre of carefully selected special agents who infiltrated the Society in order to learn what's been happening in the Arcane Underground.  This has led to an accord between the OIS and the Eldritch Society, and the alliance between the two powers has discovered in the deserts of Western Australia the Great City - home to the Yithians on Earth.  With the Race of Yith has long since gone, they have left behind a treasure trove of knowledge and other prizes that will be useful in the time to come.  Furthermore, the Eldritch Society's Tager packs kill both Grant Walker and Joandi Sianturi, two unique Dhohanoids created by Children of Chaos research.

And so we begin 2088, with things looking up for the NEG as a Xenomix woman has a chance encounter with an NEG mecha, and may be one of the brave few to tip the scales of fate, in order to help save mankind.
