Sex Note - A Death Note Parody (RECRUITING!)
« on: September 11, 2010, 07:20:23 AM »
The Yarigami(やり神) have become complacent in recent years, not forcing random sexual encounters between people as often.  Bored with the recent lack of activity, Yakshi grins with a wicked idea.  'What if I drop one of my Sex Notes into the human world?' it thinks to itself, 'Maybe write a few of the rules on the front page to help someone along.'  It takes out a black notebook embossed with the words 'Sex Note' on the front and a silver tipped quill.  Opening to the cover, it scrawls some notes before heading to the portal to the human world.

Tossing the book in will be easy; selecting the right person for this will be much harder.  It watches for a long time, waiting for that right person for this adventure to relieve boredom.  A girl might be fun to see what she will do with it, but will she use it.  A guy will definitely use this, but will he pique my interest.

Plot
Yakshi, a sex-friend god or Yarigami, drops his notebook in the human world with a basic set of rules.  When someone writes a name in the book, that person who's name is written will have a sexual encounter with the writer.  This of course does not have to be sex with the writer, but the writer will be involved in some way (watching, helping, etc).  Multiple names can be written to make two people go at it while you watch, but be careful as they will come after YOU for the sex if the scene you describe is not possible (although the writer may not know THAT at the time).

OOC Details
Yes if you are wondering, I made up the word Yarigami from a combination of yaritomo (Friend with benefits) and kami (god), trying to keep as close to the word shinigami as possible.  The story (at least to start) will follow the original recipient and the Yarigami associated with the notebook.  I will play the Yarigami, and depending on interest I can play the original owner as well (hopefully I get a taker on this though).  Eventually we can add in a second or third book with multiple threads / multiple Yarigami competing against each other.  If this has enough following, I have an idea for an H (why call him L when naming him ecchi is so much more fun!) and the international police force trying to stop these "rapes".  Now the fun part will be... How will you find out your victim's name to be able to write it?

Most of the cast needed will be the victims, but a select few VERY GOOD RPers will be needed for the notebook users.  If there is enough interest for the idea, I will create an OOC thread to get this started where people can post their victim ideas and whoever the owner is can write the names in his/her book.  Most of the sex scenes will need to be done in a secondary thread (fade to black in the main) just to keep the main thread open for the story and so others can continue the RP while the fun is had.  I do have a FULL set of rules mostly worked up, not that the notebook users will know them ALL, and if another Yarigami is needed, I will PM them the Sex Note rules (and talk over skype if needed to discuss overall story).

In all the threads (except the OOC one of course), the only people who can see and interact with the Yarigami, are the people who have TOUCHED the Sex Note belonging to that Yarigami.  Which means they can taunt, give advice, etc in the SEX thread and none of the victims can see!  ^_^

Threads: (linked as created)
Current thread count: 4
  • OOC thread: For ideas and character concepts, and just general chatting about the game.
  • Character Bios: All main character's bios can be found here!
  • For all other threads see the OOC thread above.  All threads are listed there.

***Requirements***

  • Mature, respectful players with a sense of humor - Yes, there will be some minor godmodding here since the writer will be able to set a scene in his book, but if he/she gets TOO out of control with it, the Yarigamis can remove the book from them.  Please respect the wishes of the players and make sure to discuss the scenes beforehand!
  • Commitment (for the notebook users) - Will need to pass the torch so to speak if you will be out for long periods of time.
  • Ideas ideas ideas! - Anything goes as long as the person with the book is kinky enough, but lets try to keep the REALLY obscure stuff out as this will be put in the NC-exotic section (yes this means that tranies and beasties will be allowed if the writer agrees)

Scrawled in silver ink on the front page is the following:
How to Use: I
  • The human whose name is written in this note shall have a sexual encounter with the writer.
  • This note will not take effect unless the writer can see the person when writing his/her name. Therefore, people sharing the same name will not be affected.
  • If the details of the encounter are written within 6 minutes and 40 seconds of writing the person's name, it will happen.
  • When you write multiple names in the Sex Note and then write down one situation within 6 minutes and 40 seconds in the human world, the situation will only occur for all the names at once if possible.

Reply here and let me know if I have missed anything major, have any ideas for refinement, or just want to JOIN!  Too many people wanting to by the notebook holders might require some PM talk to decide on one, but I'm hoping for too many VICTIM ideas personally... ^_^
I will link the main threads here if this takes off and gets created!

I would definitely be interested in this...this is a fantastic idea!

I've got two threads currently going if you'd like an idea of my skills.

I'd be interested in being one of the original notebool owners if you would like to discuss this with me and approve of my RP.
I've got an idea for a character as the original owner, that I'd love to suggest.

I voice also interest to be one 'original book note' owner, perhaps start as victim of the book but figure things out somehow. I assume we can 'experiment' with the book figure out limits not written in the rules (like do inviduals remember anything from the encounter or will be there after effect like emotional drama or attachment etc).

Here is the problem I was worried about.  Everyone wants to play the notebook user and no one wants to play victims.  Might also need family or friends of the user since they will likely start to notice little changes about the user (power corrupts right?).  Most of the victim scenes will be like one-shots, but you can make as many characters as you want and KEEP being the victims.  If no one in this thread wants to be victims, then I might have to post in the one shot area to see if they want to come enact their fantasies here.  Might do that later ANYWAY to get some fresh meat here...   ^_^

Have a good idea of how the first person will end up with the book (male OR female it doesn't matter), and if they are a little smart about it, they will immediately know one of the rules that is NOT written down. ;)

To save confusion and make the idea feasible (basically so every user does not get arrested immediately after), VICTIMS you will remember the act and remember  that for some unknown reason you WANTED to do it, but you will not for the life of you remember who else was there for it!  Of course, the new owner will have to find this out on his/her own...

I think letting the GM be the only NoteBook holder at first is the best idea as he will have a clear view on how it should be structured and the types of encounters envisaged. Once we've had a few, other NoteBooks could be released to other SexNote holders. How does that sound?

EDIT: Thinking some more about this... trying to see how technically it could be structured... If this were to happen in real life I think your average person would try to have sex with the easy victims - so that might be their sexy neighbour they have a crush on, or someone they lust after in school or at work. The other types of victims would be famous people like film and rock stars, people whose (real) names are easily known and who you can see quite easily at concerts or film premiers.

Does the 'in sight' have to be in the flesh? I would assume yes, but confirmation of that would be good, thanks.

Therefore it seems to me like we need a ready 'pool' of victim players who would be willing to play any character as needed rather than have victims create characters in advance and the Sex Note holder then have to find out their name - to me that does not seem to be how such a power would be (ab)used.

So I think we need players willing to just play the walk on parts the Sex Note holder requires, do a scene and leave, to make up another victim when a new scene that player can play comes along.

This way we can easily have M/M and F/F action if the Sex Note holder wants it, rather than a player with a victim character saying "Actually, no, I want to be a victim but no F/F for me thank you" thus limiting what a Sex Note holder can do.

Am I making sense?

Also - question - why the 6 min 40 sec deadline? Its an odd number (I have not watched the anime or read the manga BTW)

6 mins and 40 sec is mystery also but I guess the time limit is to prevent to make too long or complex scenario. Anyways I am okay with that GM is the first sex note holder and so decides how play out the scenes (as he controls the first char). Also 'in flesh' means (by manga) able see person's real face. Meaning if you wear mask or heavy make up (KISS band level make up) you can be immune to sex note. Of course if user sees your real face then mask does not help it, it helps only in pre-emptive cases when note users does not know your real face.

Also once scene starts after writing it I think there is 'range' limit for sex note. Example you cannot make busy sex porn star from germany to take flight and come to sex note user's place for sex (if note user lives in Japan example). I think there is like 'need to get to note user under in 1 day' could be limit. As in Death Note one case guy tested can he make person jump from Paris tower to perform suicide in tomorrow in noon but instead guy died in heart attack in tomorrow noon.

I though that might be why there is a time limit. Perhaps Mr URL can explain the numbers. Also seeing the person in the flesh I understand and the sex must take place very soon after writing the note - maybe 30mins to 1 hour - not in 1 to 2 days time, all of that seems only fair and logical so that we don't make Tom Cruise take a jet flight away from his film set in India to come shag you in London... that would be one way to get found out real fast!

The make-up idea I'm not sure about. If, for example your fetish was to have sex with the guy who played Ronald MacDonald whose name you knew was Ted Smith and he was doing a promotional video in your local mall, then seeing him present in his make-up and costume would count, I think, since its part of the persona that appeals to you for sex. At the same time it could be argued that writing down 'Gene Simmons' while at a Kiss concert would still work since the Sex Note holders fixation could be on the make up as much as the man.

Going around in a full face crash helmet when you usually do not would be one way to protect yourself - only why would you? You wouldn't know you were being stalked would you?

Well, some paranoid sex police team members would start run helmets on if not count for fact that their faces and pics are everywhere already. But some youths who have not spread pics of themselves on net anywhere could use helmet protect their face from being targeted by the book. The facial mask thing was just extreme as no doubt most folks (public figures) have their real faces somewhere.

honestly I think you are both overthinking and adding things that have not been clarified, to the parameters.
I believe you should post a list of questions you have need of clarification on for MrUrl to answer instead of cluttering up the thread with postulations about your interpretations.

From what I've read the rules are pretty straight forward...

You write a person's name down in the book and as long as they are within your sight the sex note will work.

You cant write a person's name in the book and have the sex note work unless they are within your sights...(postulating about make-up being worn is a bit irrelevant in my opinion since the argument could be made that no one could be wearing make up of any kind, even a woman just wearing normal makeup...but again....this is for Mr URL to clarify)
I would hazard a guess in sight means seeing the actual live person in front of you and not say on TV or in a magazine for instance

If within 6 minutes and 40 seconds, you write the "Details" of what you wnt to happen in your scene in the BOOK...then it will happen...it would be for MrURL to clarify if the entire scene must be completely written out in 6 minutes 40seconds real time or story time.

Again I suggest that you PM MrURL or post a list of your questions for clarification rather than possibly confuse people with your intrepretations

since you are not the creator of the idea, it is in my humble opinion that MrUrl should be the one answering or clarifying the questions since as he states in the title he states this is a parody and we as the interested players are not privy to his thoughts.

honestly I think you are both overthinking and adding things that have not been clarified, to the parameters.
It's called discussion. Its how group games sometimes grow and are improved. Sometimes input from players doesn't improve the game, but sometimes it does. I know the game's creator will provide the final answers but throwing out ideas and postulating is both fun and can be fruitful.

Quote
You write a person's name down in the book and as long as they are within your sight the sex note will work.
What if they are in sight but you cannot see their face is a perfectly reasonable question. There is this slightly eastern/asiatic/religious/spiritual thing about actually seeing the face. I was agreeing with you that make-up should not be relevant at all, the persona is still there, the eyes at least are visible (windows in and all that), but what if the person was clearly in sight but you could not recognize them? What if John Smith the riot police officer was there, in full armour and face helmet in a line of other riot police. Which one is he? Or did he in fact just get back in a squad truck while you checked the time on your watch and the line of riot cops is still there but he is now actually not in sight? Only you don't know he just got in that truck?

See? There are situations that may need clarification, and I'm raising the points in order to have things clarified.

It seems you are as uncertain there as I am which is why I asked the question.

In the meantime while the GM isn't here it is still enjoyable to throw ideas around, if nothing else its an indicator to him that people are enthusiastic.

Wow... A lot more interest in this than I thought there would be!

I'll start making up all the game threads and such tomorrow.  As to the answers your questions, I will of course answer SOME of them, but most of those you would not KNOW without trying (if you have the sexnote).  The 6:40 is actually from the manga/anima.  Don't ans me why... I always thought it an odd time as well, but hey.  Basically if you write a name down, you have that long to start writing write a scene down.  In game time of course, so basically you couldn't get a name of someone and write their name down, then sneak home to scrawl out all the details.

About getting at the celebs... I'll just say there is a way to do that.  There are many more rules that he DIDN'T write in the book that people will have to experiment and play with.  And about WHO the person would target, as long as the person with the notebook is decently smart, WHY would they go after easy targets??  If all the neighbors and friends you like suddenly started to do you, people would catch on quick (and not to mention the DNA evidence!).  If a guy with the book writes in two girls names and a simple scene of 'lesbian sex in an alley', he just created a scene that DOESN'T involve him that he can watch and the authorities (even if they were looking for him) would have a tough time with who might have caused it.

Most of the other questions, you would have to TRY in character to see.  Such as if a photo would work or a live TV feed.  The only ones with a FULL set of rules will be the Yarigami players since these can be used to tease the book holder. ;)
EDIT: One rule I WILL mention (test in RP if you are that kind of perv if you WANT), but the book will not work for anyone under 5,844 days of age (16 years), writer or written.

Since I am a fairly slow poster, I will start the game by having one of my characters who has the notebook give his/hers up.  There are two or three ways you can lose your book, and a smart book owner will be able to pick up on a rule of how you transfer ownership fairly easily after they get it... ^_^

It is an interesting game! I loved Death Note manga.

You should write an OOC post about the limits/rules since it has too many questions just to make a plot to start.

I sent an PM with my questions

I hope this game thrills like the manga!

Yea... eventually IF they figured out anything about what needed to happen to be involved they would be wearing masks I am sure... (or NOT if they WANT to be involved ^_^)  Or since he/she would need to know their name, likely they would want to start with the simple route and use aliases, but this would be of course up to the police players involved.  ;)

Heh.. was actually writing up the OOC thread as you posted this!  ^_^

Editing the main post with this info now and will have the other threads up as soon as me and the notebook user hammer out the details!  No I will not tell everyone who the characters WILL be, but I will post them as they are revealed.. so you will know the first yarigami right away.. and the first user you will know shortly.

Have spots filled for one of the local law enforcement officers and the chief already as well.

I must be missing something here as I'm still pretty clueless as to how this will work in a technical sense... but I'll say I am still interested - mostly to see if you can make it work (though I have my doubts).

I still say a person would have sex with the people he/she knows first of all, if for no other reason than as a test run. Obviously then you don't go shagging most of the hot people in your neighbourhood... that would be stupid. After a few victories then you would begin to spread your net wider but I still don't see random people wandering by being picked as victims.

A typical way to do it would be a person who works in a big office, say of 1000 people. All three big offices I've worked in had a computer database of staff including names and faces and office phone numbers and locations - so there you have a huge pool of easy to get at semi-anonymous people who you can shag in the washroom or the cleaners cupboard and since offices are full of inter-staff liaisons like this all the time, the suspicion level would remain low for a pretty long time. And if rumours leaked out that Mr X is good with the ladies and has shagged A, B, and C in the accounts department, then so what? Many offices have such people.

You could probably have sex with 50 or more people that way (and a small number of those will really enjoy it and be back for more without you needing to trick them) so, yeah... easy and almost no risk.

The alternative of trying to get attractive strangers to give you their name seems so much hard work in comparison, I just wouldn't bother.

formulating strategies for these things is part of the fun of this game though...and also trying to avoid the cops *shrugs* it's all a matter of perspective and of course lets not forget lust.
