Throne of Chains

Throne of Chains is a dark fantasy roleplay set in the brutal, decadent world of Thul'Rakka, where power is seized by blood, bondage, and steel. In the shadow of a dying Empire, nobles, warlords, witches, and slavers vie for control over flesh and fate alike. From the towering spires of the Imperial Palace to the savage arenas of the Red Market, every chain is both a weapon and a symbol of dominion.

Will you rise as a conqueror, fall as a pawn, or become something far more dangerous? In this world, strength is worshiped, submission is currency, and the throne is never empty for long.

Steel your will. Claim your place. Rule or be ruled.

Setting: The Empire of Thul’Rakka
Type: Extreme Fantasy / Non-Con / Freeform / Sandbox
System: Freeform
Open to: All genders, orientations, and character types. Cross-gender and trans characters welcome. No character cap.

In the opulent yet merciless Empire of Thul’Rakka, slavery is a sacred art, woven with sensuality, blood, and forbidden magic. The powerful bind the weak with enchanted collars, cursed piercings, and unbreakable oaths, while conquest and obedience fuel a decadent society. From cruel slavers and defiant rebels to hedonistic nobles and broken slaves, every soul seeks to carve their fate beneath the Throne of Chains. This story-driven sandbox drips with dark erotica, political intrigue, and raw ambition, where power is both a chain and a crown.

Tone: The setting has a character and world-driven focus. You are given the tools to create what you want to create, within reason. The overall tone is purposefully dark. This isn't a typical 'DnD' fantasy. It has all the trappings, all the same sense of magic and swords but it is designed to lean more towards the harsher, darker themes of Conan, John Carter and settings and trapping like these. This will first and foremost be a character, story-driven freeform sandbox. Yes, there are dark and sexual themes to explore, many of them, but the emphasis will be on the characters, the relationships, all the things that bind them together or rip them apart. Themes include BDSM, non-consensual acts, pet play, domination, mindbreak, and ritual magic. Sexual content is explicit but respects player limits. All non-con scenes require OOC pre-negotiation.

Mickey Mouse's birthday being announced on the television news as if it were an actual event! I don't give a shit! If I cared about Mickey Mouse's birthday I would have memorized it years ago! And I'd send him a card, 'Dear Mickey, Happy Birthday, Love George'. I don't do that, why, don't give a shit! Fuck Mickey Mouse! Fuck him in the ass with a big rubber dick! Then break it off and beat him with it!

Races of Thul’Rakka – Complete Player Guide
(WIP)
Welcome to the fractured world of Thul’Rakka, where power is chained, blood runs hot, and civilization teeters on the edge of dominion and ruin. This guide details the core races of the Throne of Chains setting, each with a unique name, rich history, and cultural depth to inspire your character creation. In this freeform roleplaying game, you can embody any role or mix racial traits as you see fit, guided by the lore below.

(Varyth) Humans
Overview
The Humans are the most numerous and adaptable race in Thul’Rakka, thriving as both oppressors and oppressed. From the decadent nobles of the Imperial Palace to the scarred slaves of the Red Market, they dominate through ambition and resilience.
Background The Varyth rose to power after the Great Binding, a cataclysmic war 800 years ago where the Elven Empire fell, and the First Emperor struck a pact with a chained demon to forge the Empire of Chains. This bargain granted dominion but cursed their bloodlines with whispers of betrayal. Varyth history is marked by conquest, from taming the Ashen Wastes to building the marble spires of the Heartlands.
Culture Imperial Varyth: In the capital, they revel in the Festival of Chains, a week-long spectacle of slave parades and gladiatorial bloodbaths, believed to appease the chained demon. Nobles wear gilded masks to signify rank.
Tribal Varyth: In the Ashen Wastes, tribes carve survival runes into their skin during the Rite of Scars, honoring ancestors who endured the wasteland’s horrors.
Inter-Race Dynamics Distrust the (Alari) Elves, fearing their ancient magic threatens imperial control. Rely on (Korath) Dwarves for weapons, creating a tense trade alliance. Prize (Sylith) K’tari as slaves but fear their psychic rebellion.
Environmental Ties Imperial Heartlands: Fertile plains with marble palaces and bustling slave markets, where the air hums with chain clinks and arena roars. Ashen Wastes: A scorched desert where nomadic Varyth ride bone-white lizards, scavenging ruins of forgotten wars.
Roleplaying Hooks A noble hiding their half-Alari lineage to maintain power. A Red Market slave who uncovered a fragment of the demon’s name, torn between using it or fleeing. A desert warlord seeking an ancient relic to unite the tribes against the Empire.
Gameplay Flavor Varyth excel at persuasion, manipulation, or survival, reflecting their adaptability. Players might roleplay a knack for navigating hierarchies or enduring harsh conditions.
Suggested Roles Imperial Noble, Red Market Slave, Arena Gladiator, Court Concubine, Desert Warlord
Lifespan: Typically up to 80 years.

Alari - (Elvenkind)
Overview - The (Alari) Elves are ancient, graceful, and prideful, remnants of a lost magical empire. Now scattered, they live in exile, hiding their bloodlines or adapting to roles of servitude or rebellion in a human-dominated world.
Background The Alari ruled Aelthrya, a crystalline empire, until the Great Binding, when High Mages attempted to bind a celestial entity to restore fading magic. The ritual shattered their cities, scattering the Alari. High Alari cling to fading nobility, Wood Alari embraced the wilds, and Dark Alari turned to blood magic for survival. A prophecy speaks of the “Unveiled Star,” a force to restore or doom them.
Culture High Alari: Maintain secret libraries, preserving Aelthrya’s lore. The Starlit Ball, a yearly dance under the night sky, mourns their lost empire. They wear flowing robes adorned with star motifs. Wood Alari: Mark coming-of-age with a hunt, offering the kill’s heart to forest spirits. Their glowing tattoos pulse under moonlight. Dark Alari: Practice the Rite of Shadows, a bloodletting ceremony to commune with exiled ancestors. Betrayal is punished by eternal banishment.
Subraces High Alari: Cultured, magically gifted, haughty nobility. Wood Alari: Feral, independent, often enslaved for exotic beauty. Dark Alari: Twisted by dark magic, thriving in shadows with blood oaths.
Inter-Race Dynamics View (Varyth) Humans as upstarts who stole their legacy, plotting subtle revenge. Pity (Korath) Dwarves for materialism but trade for survival. Dark Alari admire (Sylith) K’tari’s psychic gifts, forming shadowy alliances.
Environmental Ties High Alari: Crumbling spires in misty Starveil Valleys, surrounded by glowing flora. Wood Alari: The Verdant Veil, a jungle where trees whisper ancient secrets. Dark Alari: The Obsidian Cleft, lightless caves lit by bioluminescent fungi.
Roleplaying Hooks A High Alari seeking the Unveiled Star, torn between redemption and vengeance. A Wood Alari concubine plotting escape to their forest kin. A Dark Alari assassin haunted by an ancestor’s curse, seeking a (Mystra) Dj’emma to break it.
Gameplay Flavor High Alari wield illusions or memory spells, Wood Alari excel at stealth or nature rituals, and Dark Alari use blood magic or shadow manipulation.
Suggested Roles Enslaved Sorceress, Ancient Lorekeeper, Moonlight Assassin, Seductive Spy, Forest Warden
Lifespan: 600–800 years.

(Korath) - Dwarves
Overview - The (Korath) Dwarves are stout, grim, and proud, masters of stone and steel. Rooted in ancient traditions, they build deep mountain strongholds, thriving as smiths or suffering as slaves.
Background The Korath trace their origins to the Stonefather, a mythic figure who carved their first halls from living rock. During the Great Binding, many holds fell to human conquest, and the discovery of the Cursed Forge birthed the Dark Korath, twisted by its malevolent heat. The Korath now balance pride with survival, forging arms for the Empire or resisting in secret.
Culture Mountain Korath: Clan-based, they honor the Stonefather with the Anvil Chant, striking hammers in unison to commune with ancestors. Their beards are braided with runestones. Dark Korath: Perform the Bloodforge Ritual, offering blood to the Cursed Forge for power. Their pale skin glows faintly in darkness. Surface Korath: Celebrate the Trade Moot, a festival of bartering and storytelling, but are shunned by traditionalists.
Subraces Mountain Korath: Militant traditionalists, skilled in forging and war. Dark Korath: Corrupted, pale, and merciless, driven by madness or magic. Surface Korath: Adaptable traders, often distrusted by their kin.
Inter-Race Dynamics Supply (Varyth) Humans with arms, but resent their dominance. Respect (Gorath) Orcs’ strength but clash over territory. View (Sylith) K’tari as frivolous, avoiding their psychic influence.
Environmental Ties Ironcrag Peaks: Towering mountains with labyrinthine forges, echoing with hammer strikes. Abyssal Delves: Dark Korath lairs, lit by molten rivers and glowing crystals. Trade Roads: Surface Korath roam dusty caravan routes, their wagons heavy with steel.
Roleplaying Hooks A Mountain Korath smith seeking to destroy the Cursed Forge to redeem their kin. A Dark Korath mason haunted by the Forge’s whispers, craving freedom. A Surface Korath mercenary torn between clan loyalty and imperial coin.
Gameplay Flavor Mountain Korath are resilient and skilled with crafting, Dark Korath wield destructive magic, and Surface Korath excel at negotiation or survival.
Suggested Roles Slave Forgemaster, Imperial Armorer, Wandering Mercenary, Clanless Adventurer, Blood-Drinking Dark Mason
Lifespan: 400–500 years.

(Sylith) K’tari
Overview - The (Sylith) K’tari are a psionically gifted race of serpentine allure, feared and fetishized across Thul’Rakka. Known for their hypnotic voices, empathic powers, and sinuous forms, they are both revered as oracles and reviled as manipulators.

Background
The K’tari were born from the Great Bloom, a convergence of leyline energy and serpent spirits in the marshes of Syl’quassa. When the Great Binding fractured magical stability, the K’tari were psychically awakened. Some believe they are not native to this world, but dream-born—manifestations of the world’s buried subconscious. Over time, the K’tari divided between the sensual Oracles of the Bloom, the militant Tidebinders, and the enslaved Courtesan Caste used throughout the Empire.

Culture
Oracles of the Bloom: Reside in vast lotus temples deep in fetid jungles. Each full moon, they perform the Weeping Rite—channeling the dreams of the dead into whispered prophecy. Their skin is painted with oils derived from hallucinogenic lilies.

Tidebinders: Born from the swamp militias, they use psychic discipline and martial rhythm in war. Their masks are carved from coral and bone, representing the tides of fate.

Courtesan Caste: Created by Imperial design, these K’tari are trained from youth to serve nobles as empathic concubines or psychic spies. While some have forgotten their heritage, others secretly plot to awaken ancient racial memories.

Subraces
Oracles: Mystics and seers with dream-sight and deep empathic power.
Tidebinders: Psychic warriors who manipulate sensation and balance.
Courtesans: Conditioned to pleasure and serve, but with latent resistance.

Inter-Race Dynamics
Resent (Varyth) Humans for their exploitation, yet thrive in their courts as silent influencers.
Form strange kinship with (Dark Alari), sharing blood oaths and secrets.
Distrust (Korath) Dwarves, whose minds are too rigid to manipulate and whose forges scar the land.

Environmental Ties
The Blooming Mire: Swampy jungles thick with mist, rot, and psychic echoes. K’tari cities of twisted wood and glass bloom from great roots.
The Pleasure Halls: Hidden dens across the Empire where K’tari serve, disguised as property but often running their own networks.
Sapphire Veins: Leyline-crossed pools beneath the mire where psionic K’tari undergo awakening rituals.

Roleplaying Hooks
A former courtesan whispering rebellion into her master’s ear.
A Tidebinder warrior trained in psychic blade-dancing, seeking vengeance for a defiled shrine.
An Oracle haunted by the voice of a demon prince long dead—or not dead enough.

Suggested Roles
Runaway Courtesan, Mire Oracle, Gladiator Thrall, Psionic Spy, Tidebinder Duelist

Lifespan: 150–200 years, though some Oracles claim to be timeless.

(Gorath) Orcs
Overview – The (Gorath) Orcs are fierce, primal survivors born of war and wilderness. With muscular frames, tusked jaws, and ritual scars, they thrive on strength and challenge. Some serve as shock troops of the Empire; others form savage clans beyond the reach of civilization.
Background Legends say the Gorath were shaped by the Beast-God Varkhul, who gifted them with fury and endurance. During the Great Binding, many Orcs were enslaved, forced to fight in the Empire’s blood pits. Those who escaped into the Wildlands became tribal warlords, clinging to honor and blood rites. Clans remember the Razing of Mor-Kaaz, when Orc rebels destroyed an entire imperial city in a single night.
Culture Warborn Clans: Follow the Code of Iron, where strength decides leadership. Ritual duels—called Bonecracks—settle disputes. Tattoos carved into the skin honor battles survived.
Bloodbound: Orcs who swear loyalty to an imperial house, bound by collar or coin. Some find glory; others find chains.

Inter-Race Dynamics Despise (Varyth) nobles, but often serve them. Compete with (Korath) Dwarves over mountainous regions and resources. See (Alari) as fragile, favoring strength over sorcery.
Environmental Ties Redfang Highlands: Barren cliffs and wind-carved canyons, home to scattered warbands. The Maw: An ancient battlefield turned burial ground, where shamans speak with spirits of the fallen. Bloodpits of Kaarn: Imperial arenas where Gorath fight for glory—or survival.
Roleplaying Hooks An escaped arena champion seeking vengeance against former masters. A Bone Mother burdened with a prophecy that could doom her clan. A Bloodbound enforcer torn between loyalty and ancestral honor.
Gameplay Flavor Gorath are powerful in physical combat and known for intimidation. Boneborn may access primal rituals and shamanic insight, while Bloodbound navigate complex relationships of servitude.
Suggested Roles Arena Champion, Clan Warchief, Slave-turned-Gladiator, Bone Mother, Imperial Executioner
Lifespan: 60–100 years, though shamans may live longer through spiritual rites.

(Mystra) Dj’emma
Overview – Also called the Dj’emma, the Mystra are a distinct and feared race of witches, sorceresses, and vision-weavers. "Dj’emma" is a slur meaning something like “Hedge Witch” or “Hag,” but it has become a reclaimed title of pride among them. Matriarchal in structure and deeply tied to pain, pleasure, and transformation magic, they are rivals and allies of the Empire alike.
Background Born of moonblood and old ritual, the Dj’emma claim descent from the Goddess of Hidden Fire, and their origin is shrouded in both myth and fear. When the Great Binding shattered the arcane world, the Dj’emma adapted, spreading across Thul’Rakka in secret covens and hidden circles. The largest and most powerful of their kind reside within the Tower of Hedgeocracy—an arcane citadel within the Empire’s core, where Mystra enchantresses serve nobles and demons alike.
Male children are rare and often enslaved from birth, trained as guards, warriors, or ritual assistants. Women are vastly more common and dominate all levels of Dj’emma society, from wild hedge witches to tower-bound mistresses. They practice enchantments of binding, fleshweaving, transformation, pleasure, pain, and control.
Culture Tower Mystra: Reside in the Hedgeocracy's blackstone towers. They weave spells into flesh, commanding pain and ecstasy in equal measure. The Night Court—held on the Blood Moon—is where alliances are forged through torment and temptation.
Wild Dj’emma: Wanderers, or leaders of hidden forest or swamp covens. They hold the Rite of Tearing, a ritual of blood, shadow, and self-actualization. Feared by peasants, hunted by zealots, but often revered by those in the know.
Slave Sons: Trained to obey their witch mothers or mistresses, these men become bodyguards, enforcers, and lovers—all loyal, all owned.
Subraces Tower Dj’emma: Dominant, elegant, and politically lethal. Wild Dj’emma: Raw, primal witches attuned to nature and the moon. Bloodborn: Born of ritual unions, often marked by glowing glyphs on their flesh.
Inter-Race Dynamics Feared by (Varyth) for their influence and magical independence. Respected by (Alari) for their arcane traditions and insight. Occasionally allied with (Sylith) in rituals involving dreams and emotions.

Lifespan: 150–250 years, depending on magical practice and ritual rejuvenation.

(Tithar) Giantkin
Overview – The (Tithar) Giantkin are massive, towering descendants of the ancient titans. Some are born from the mingling of giant and human or orc blood, others shaped by lingering divine wrath. Though they possess incredible might, most Tithar are enslaved or used as weapons, feared for their strength and limited by chains.

Background
The Tithar trace their legacy to the Titan’s Fall, an ancient conflict in which the gods shattered the last of the primeval giants. Fragments of titan blood spilled into the mortal races, birthing the Tithar. During the Great Binding, the Empire used arcane brands and unbreakable chains to bind them into war engines and laborers. A legend speaks of the Heart of the Last Titan, a buried relic that could restore their full stature and spark a new age of giants.

Culture
Tithar culture is fragmented, shaped by their roles more than their lineage. Many remember only pain and servitude, but some cling to oral traditions about the Skyshatter Clans or Titan’s Song. In secret circles, they carve titan glyphs into stone and flesh, preserving lost myths.

Subraces
Half-Giants: Towering and noble, often raised to be elite guards, temple wardens, or executioners.
Half-Ogres: Brutal and crude, used for hard labor and pit fighting. Prone to rage and stubborn pride.
Half-Orcs: Cunning, aggressive, and often rebellious—living on the fringes of empire or among orc clans.

Lifespan: 80–200 years, depending on lineage and magical corruption.

Background During the Great Binding, when gods intervened to counter the chained demon’s rise, their divine essence scattered across the mortal world. Some mortals were born touched by this sacred spark. These individuals—the Divyth—bear celestial signs and channel unique powers based on their patron god’s domain. A prophecy speaks of the “Godchain,” a mythic artifact said to unite or shatter their kind forever.
Some Divyth are cloistered in temple orders, hidden from the world; others are paraded as living relics by the Empire, used for inspiration or control. Their lives are often tragic, glorious, or both.

The World, Locations, Factions and Greater Lore of Thul'Rakka

Thul’Rakka – World Introduction
You want to know what kind of world you’ve crawled into?

Good. First rule: don't look up at the stars. They don’t watch, and they don’t care. The gods that used to hang there? Chained, butchered, or whored out to the highest bidder centuries ago. That’s Thul’Rakka—land of broken pacts and beautiful suffering.

Once, this place shimmered with power. Magic flowed freely, shaped by the will of the Elven Highlords, lit by their crystalline towers. But power makes fools, and fools chase gods. Eight hundred years back, the Alari tried to leash a celestial thing, a being made of starlight and wrath. They failed, of course. And the ones who didn’t burn were scattered to the wind.

Then came the Empire. A man—if you can still call him that—made a pact with something older than reason. A chained demon. Promised him blood and bodies in exchange for dominion. And wouldn’t you know it, he delivered. Thus was born the first Emperor of Chains, and the world bent its knee.

Now? The world hasn’t stood up since.

You’ve got the Varyth—humans—grasping at everything, building empires on the backs of slaves and lies. The Alari? What’s left of them glimmers in ruin or crawls through shadows. Dwarves—you’ll hear ‘Korath’ if they let you live long enough—forge steel and sip spite, angry that their mountains aren’t as deep as their grudges. The Sylith K’tari purr sweet and cut deep, all fur and psychic claws, good for a kiss or a killing, depending on how you touch them.

Orcs? The Gorath live like their blood boils hotter than yours. They fight, they fuck, they die loud. That’s just what they do. The Dj’emma—Mystra if you want to be polite, but no one is—rule from towers built of secrets and flesh. They bind men like charms to their belts, and whisper curses into the womb.

And then there’s the God-Touched. The Divyth. Poor bastards. Touched by divine power before they had a choice. The Empire cages them like holy pets, bleeding miracles for spectacle and slaughter. And the Tithar? Giantkin bred for war, broken into chains too small for their bones. You’ll see them pulling siege towers or tearing open gladiators for coin. You’ll hear them cry out in a tongue older than empires. No one listens.

You’ll hear stories about a thing called the Godchain. A relic from the Binding. Supposed to bind gods, unbind the world, maybe both. Everyone wants it. No one’s seen it. Maybe that’s for the best.

Slavery isn’t a system here. It’s gravity. The Red Market doesn’t just trade in flesh—it catalogues it, brands it, assigns value to it. Gladiators. Courtesans. Priests. Children with glowing eyes. Everything’s for sale. Even your silence.

Magic? Still here. Still dangerous. But it costs now. Costs names. Skin. Blood. Memory. Sometimes more. Sometimes less. The Dj’emma know best. They bind the body and soul like thread and needle. You want to cast a spell? Better be ready to bleed for it.

The land is just as cruel. The Ashen Wastes are cracked teeth. The Heartlands smile with gold on top and rot underneath. The Verdant Veil is where the K’tari hunt, where the jungle hums with old hunger. The Iron Peaks ring with dwarven hammers that never stop. And beneath it all, somewhere, the Old Things still dream in chains.

So pick your chains, or break them. No one cares which you choose—just that you bleed before the end.

Welcome to Thul’Rakka. Hope you brought a collar.

- Spoken by the Mad Seer

The Seat of the Throne of Chains - Thul'Rakka

Rakka’Veth:
The Crimson Heart The capital, Rakka’Veth, is a sprawling metropolis of red stone and obsidian, its tiered districts rising like steps to the heavens. Towering spires cast shadows over slave pens, breeding halls, and markets teeming with chained bodies. The air hums with spice, sweat, and incense—a city both divine and profane. The Ritual of the Crimson Veil, held each new moon, sees slaves paraded through the streets, their collars anointed with blood and ash to renew the city’s sacred bond to the Throne. The Labyrinth of Sighs, the city’s underbelly, hides resistance cells and black-market slavers who trade in unregistered flesh, risking execution by the Iron Sentinels, elite enforcers patrolling the undercity.

The Imperial Palace
Carved into a volcanic mountain, the Imperial Palace is a fortress of opulence guarded by lava-fed canals and eternal flames fueled by D’Jemma magic. Slaves crawl on hands and knees, silent and collared, serving a court where cruelty is an artform. The Emperor’s harem, the Veil of One Hundred, comprises slaves bound by ancient curses or reshaped into living art through magic. The Ritual of the Ember Oath binds each harem member: a molten sigil is branded onto their flesh, linking their soul to the Emperor’s will, triggering searing pain or uncontrollable desire at disobedience. The Court of Whispers, a faction of nobles and advisors, schemes for favor, often sacrificing slaves in Blood Pacts—rituals where a slave’s life is offered to seal alliances. The Flameborn Guard, elite warriors imbued with fire magic, protect the Palace and punish intruders with immolation.

Roles: Concubines, Court Slaves, Advisors, Slavers, Executioners
Example: Sahris Vel’Nakar, a fallen queen now a collared concubine, her mind woven with spells to crave the Emperor’s touch, yet whispers of her past rebellion linger.

The Tower of the Hedgeocracy
The D’Jemma, the Empire’s magical elite, reign from a hollow tower ringed with spiraling staircases, its walls pulsing with arcane runes. They craft enchanted collars, obedience tattoos, and spells that bind flesh to will. The Rite of the Thorned Binding initiates new D’Jemma: they pierce their own flesh with a cursed thorn, pledging their soul to the Tower’s magic at the cost of eternal servitude. The Sect of the Crimson Thread weaves blood-based enchantments, creating collars that pulse with a slave’s heartbeat, while the Sect of the Void Whisper manipulates minds, crafting slaves who beg for their chains. Upper levels house forbidden laboratories where D’Jemma experiment on spellslaves, merging flesh with arcane constructs to create Living Relics—sentient statues bound to the Tower’s defense. The Council of Thorns, a ruling body of elder witches, enforces strict hierarchies, punishing failure with Soul Flaying, a ritual that strips magical ability and leaves the victim a hollow thrall.

Roles: High Witches, Enchanters, Researchers, Spellslaves
Example: Vexa the Thorned, a merciless Hedgewitch whose cursed piercings inflict orgasmic torment on the disobedient, her own body a canvas of ritual scars.

The Slave Authority Citadel
A black-marble fortress overlooking the Red Market, the Citadel is the iron heart of the Empire’s slavery system. It issues licenses, tracks collars, and enforces the Code of Chains, a legal framework dictating slave ownership and punishment. The Ritual of the Iron Seal marks new slavers: their palms are branded with a sigil that glows when near an unregistered slave, ensuring none escape the Empire’s grasp. The Order of the Black Ledger, a bureaucratic faction, maintains meticulous records of every slave’s origin, training, and enchantments. Unauthorized slaving is punished in the Flaying Square, where offenders are skinned alive or branded with runes of shame during public spectacles. The Citadel’s dungeons, the Pits of Correction, reeducate rebellious slaves through cycles of pain and pleasure, overseen by the Wardens of Silence, who use D’Jemma-crafted muzzles to stifle screams.

Roles: Imperial Slavers, Brandsmiths, Registrars, Auctioneers, Inspectors
Example: Vorn Cadrek, an Inspector whose voice, laced with subtle D’Jemma magic, compels slaves to kneel in terror or desire.

The Red Market
The Red Market is a chaotic bazaar where slaves are displayed on obsidian platforms, their bodies oiled and chained for noble buyers. Barkers shout virtues while trainers demonstrate obedience in brutal displays. The Rite of the First Chain marks a slave’s sale: a collar is forged on the spot, infused with a buyer’s blood to bind the slave’s loyalty. The Guild of the Crimson Lash, a coalition of independent trainers, competes for prestige by showcasing perfectly broken slaves in the Parade of Submission, a weekly event where nobles bid on the finest specimens. Hidden alleys conceal The Silent Auction, an illegal market for unregistered slaves, guarded by mercenaries loyal to the Veilborn Syndicate, a criminal faction that risks the Citadel’s wrath. Training pens use Pleasure Forging, a technique blending pain and ecstasy to mold slaves into compliant tools.

Roles: Traders, Auction Slaves, Penmasters, Whip-Trainers, Breeders
Example: Shalla of the Chains, a freed slave turned ruthless trader, scarring her wares to mark her dominance, her own collar a reminder of her past.

The Blackveil Baths
Owned by House Thren, the Blackveil Baths are a luxurious haven of perversion, where slaves serve as attendants or animalistic pets in steaming pools and mirror-lined chambers. The Rite of the Velvet Leash transforms slaves into pets: they are bathed in enchanted oils that heighten sensitivity, then trained to mimic beasts through Beastbinding Rituals, imprinting animalistic behaviors. The Order of the Mirror Veil, a secretive faction within House Thren, curates voyeuristic experiences in the mirror rooms, where nobles watch or join in decadent acts. The Baths’ Pool of Surrender, a magically infused spring, induces euphoria in bathers, making slaves pliant and nobles reckless. Disobedient slaves face the Cage of Reflections, a mirrored cell that amplifies shame through endless self-observation.

Roles: Attendants, Pet Slaves, Noble Patrons, Massage Slaves, Watchers
Example: Liala, an elven slave trained to purr and obey as a feline pet, her body marked with sigils that glow when she performs for noble guests.

The House of Healing
A massive sandstone guildhall where Fleshbinders heal or reshape slaves with magic and surgery. The Rite of the Living Thread initiates healers: they sew a magical filament into their own skin, granting precision but binding them to the guild’s will. The Silent Order, a fanatical sect, specializes in muting defiant personalities through enchanted tattoos that suppress will. The Sect of the Fleshweave crafts permanent modifications, such as obedience piercings or grafted limbs, often for noble clients. Illegal experiments, conducted in hidden Chambers of Transmutation, create hybrid slaves for the D’Jemma, risking exposure to the Inquisition of Purity, a faction that purges “unnatural” creations. Slaves sent here for punishment undergo Pain Binding, a ritual that converts agony into compulsion.

Roles: Healers, Fleshbinders, Pain-Surgeons, Silent Order Acolytes
Example: Brother Eran, a Fleshbinder who weaves compulsion into living tattoos, replacing pain with obedience, his prayers a chilling chant.

The General Markets
A vibrant, dangerous sprawl of stalls selling silks, weapons, potions, and slavewear, where bound slaves serve as living displays to draw crowds. The Rite of the Jeweled Offering sees merchants dedicate their finest wares to the Emperor, often adorning slaves with enchanted jewelry to showcase quality. The Guild of the Saffron Blade, a mercenary faction, protects the markets while secretly trafficking stolen goods. The Veil of Shadows, a thieves’ network, operates in plain sight, using slaves as decoys during heists. Markets are patrolled by Whip-Men, who enforce order with D’Jemma-crafted lashes that leave glowing welts. The Spice Ritual, a daily ceremony, fills the air with enchanted incense that calms crowds but addicts slaves to obedience.

Roles: Merchants, Mercenaries, Thieves, Slave Escorts, Whip-Men
Example: Kreeza, a half-orc merchant peddling jeweled gags and sigil-embedded nipple rings, showcased on his obedient slave, his wealth a shield against the law.

Oh yes, high fantasy is tied for my favorite genre and I enjoy anything with BDSM elements. I'll see about maybe getting a rough character idea together in the next day or two.

Take all the time you need. This is all very early stages, still. I am still working on getting together more artwork for the thread, improving the formatting where I can (not my strongest suit! haha)

Take your time, indulge yourself in the lore of the world space, see what calls out to you.

Faeli

Name:
Onyx
Race:  Dark Alari
Age: 113 (equivalent to 26)
Role: Slave
Gender:  Female
Sexuality:  Bisexual
Height:  5'3"
Weight:  117 lbs
Hair Color:  Onyx
Eye Color:  Violet
General Description: Onyx is slight, with long arms and a refined physique common to her people.  She has dark skin the color of twilight and piercing violet eyes that softly glow in the darkness.  She wears a cuirass with the insignia of the palace, but it is very loosely affixed with simple buttons and can be removed with a flick of the wrist.  She also wears a long dress with a significant thigh slit, the fabric parting well above the hips on both side and making no secret of the woman's lack of undergarments.
Personality: Onyx has the confidence of someone who regularly takes the lives of her betters, and looks at much of the visitors to the court with thinly veiled derission.  Despite this, she knows well the result of catching the Emperor's attention or ire and tends to restrict her derission to hard looks and self-assured smiles, safely masked from the emperor due to him tending to be on the throne, behind her.

Likes: Onyx enjoys long baths and frequently stays within the bathhouse far longer than she is supposed to.  She enjoys creature comforts and looks longingly at the harem pillow houses frequented by many of the other slaves.
Dislikes: Onyx has a deep seated hatred for the House of Synnex, a dislike that is fully reciprocated.  She also is not a fan of her occasional role as torturer.  She enjoys killing, but often she is called in to flay or torment a noble scion who has fallen into disfavor - and all too often the scion eventually returns to the Emperor's good graces and proceeds to make her life a living hell.
Occupation:  Executioner Slave - Specifically used on disgraced noble families as an additional method of shaming.  Being executed is bad, being executed by a slave is so so much worse.
Binding:  Onyx has a runed collar that is linked to her Ritual of the Ember Oath tattoo.  Unlike most slaves, her collar deactivates according to the Emperor's will, so that the unfortunate targets of her professional duties cannot enact their will upon her.  However, the majority of the time the collar glows with a soft red light, showing that she is currently a slave and will respond to any orders that affect slaves.
Weapon of Choice: Executioner's Axe
Secondary Weapon: Scourge
Armor Type: Heavy - though she is restricted to ceremonial breastplate that leaves little to the imagination
Background: Onyx' story began at birth, as most stories do.  She was originally a run of the mill slave under the ownership of the House of Synnex.  She showed a quick wit and an agile mind, as well as possessing the Alari boon of having a long life and thus remaining in the spring of her youth for decades at a time, and so quickly became one of the favored attendants of Gaspar Synnex, one of the elder sons of the Patriarch of the clan.  Gaspar was... not intellegent and, worse, had been protected from consequence his whole life.  He frequently made bad decisions and had to have his actions smoothed over by his clan, much to their ongoing annoyance.

When Gaspar was twenty two, he made one bad decision too many, fudging paperwork to make it look like the Synnex clan had not made as much of a profit as they had in order to lower their tax burden.  This was, of course, caught by the meticulous reviewers of The Order of the Black Ledger and Gaspar soon found himself in more trouble than even the Patriarch could get him out of.  He was seized one fateful night, right along with Onyx who had the misfortune to be in his bed.

The trial was quick and definative, and the Emperor Decreed that Gaspar would be put to the blade - by his own slave.  In his words "Even your slave has more worth to the Empire than a noble who would defraud it."

After the sentance was completed, the Emperor took Onyx are and made her one of his executioners but, of course, she remained a slave.  It was an unusual station, in many ways better than the typical slave but also, in many ways worse.  On the one hand, Onyx was allowed to wear clothing - albeit minimal clothing that left her fully accessible.  She was not required to crawl within the palace and she was placed with the other executioners instead of being quartered in the slave wing, which significantly reduced the degree of random mollestation she was subject too.  On the other hand, however, she was a slave that had taken the life of a noble (multiple nobles as the years went on) and this made her intimidating.

Nobles tended to overcompensate when they felt intimidated, and so when those visitors to the court arrived who enjoyed the Emperor's good graces, it was extremely common for them to assert their superiority over the executioner slave, a practice that the Emperor rarely prohibited.  Mollesting and abusing Onyx became something of a barometer to ensure one's family had not frustrated His Emminence, and it became a standard part of audiences.  Additionally, while not being in the slave wing prevented most people from finding her on accident when looking for an available slave, the rest of her Executioners, as well as the Flameborne Guard, definately knew where to find her - and of all the denezins of the palace, Executioners and Flameborne Guard were the ones who mixed pleasure and suffering the most, making their nighttime visits the hardest to endure and deepening Onyx' love of the baths...

Name: Jennera Shadewhisper
Age: 95 (equivalent to 25)
Role: Slaver
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Lesbian
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 140 lbs
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Blue
General Description: Jennera dressed in blacks and deep purples, the colors contrasting nicely against her pale skin. favoring practicality over appearance unless she is meeting with a client. Her shadow cloak shifts with her mood, becoming long and billowing when wishes to display an aura of menace or confidence, shorting and clinging to her body when she is wary or guarded. Her cloak as a habit of coiling around slaves she has a fondness for, especially her personal ones.

She keeps her black hair long, letting it fall to between her shoulder blades but constrains it in a very tight braid. She favors very little in the way of jewelry, except for the gemstone that is always hanging around her neck. When she does wear other jewelry, it is always of some white metal that gleams brightly against her shadow cloak.

Background: Jennera was raised in the Hedgeocracy, it's where she learned to control and manipulate her shadow cloak as well as her more subtle means of manipulation. She left the sisterhood when she found her interest in magic was far less then her interest in bringing people under her sway. The life of a slaver came naturally to her and her ability to whisper into people's dreams made her surprisingly successful at her task.

Jennera is driven by a combination of things, most of them centered around a desire for power and comfort. She plans to one day retire from the slaver's life, setting herself with a few of her favorite slaves and letting others do the work for her. She isn't above taking inexperienced slavers under her wing, knowing that some day they may be working for her and supplying her with fresh slaves and money to let her live out the rest of her days in comfort.

Personality: Jennera has learned that her personality must be fluid in her line of work. She must be courtly and respectful when meeting with certain clients and rough and tumble when talking with others. When it comes to slaves, her ability to glimpse their minds and dreams means knows exactly how to manipulate them. Some find her soothing and nurturing, helping them accept their new place in the world. Others need a firm hand to break them like a wild horse.

Likes: Luxury especially warm baths, being respected, watching harem girls dance.

Dislikes: Playing or discussing politics, disrespect, low quality alcohol.

Occupation: Independent Slaver

Weapon of Choice: Mercy: A finely made dagger, it's blade covered in a variety of runes that seem to pulse and shift anytime it is sheathed. It was found on a trip long ago and Jennera keeps it close at all times, even hiding it when she meets with clients.

Secondary Weapon: Dreamwaker Gem: A gem of deepest purple that she wears around her neck at all times. It amplifies her ability to whisper into people's dreams and she has used it in battle to leave her opponent temporarily stunned as if lost in a daydream.

Armor Type: Leather, cut in a manner that hugs and falters her figure and studded with white metals that sparkle like stars against her shadow cloak.

Primary Abilities

Shadow Cloak: Jennera's cloak has a varied of uses, most of them due to her training in theHedgeocracy. She is able to shape it into an edge sharp enough to cut, although it doesn't have enough mass to be used as an actual weapon, billow around her to disorient, and can grab smaller objects. She always interested in pushing the limits of what her cloak can do, often willing to trade with others that might have insight into a new way to manipulate it.

Dreamwalking: Jennera can manipulate the dreams of others to a certain extent. She can't take control of their dreams or reshape them to her will but when she whispers into someone's mind, her words carry far more weight then they should. She can nudge them down a certain path as they sleep, waking to thing that her idea was their own. She has used this to sooth multiple slaves into being more accepting of their new places in the world.

Her ability has limits as she can't influence someone that has magic protecting their mind nor can she manipulate a person too much at once, often having to take weeks or even months to slowly nudge them in a direction she desires them to go. Her methods are often slower but her clients appreciate how accepting new slaves are of their new life when she delivers them.

Flaws or Weaknesses

Arrogance: Jennera has claimed and trained tons of slaves, giving her an inflated sense in regards to her ability to handle a situation. She gotten bitten by her overestimation of her capabilities more then once but she's chalks those up to turns of bad luck or being intentionally set up to fail and not a failing on her part.

Suddenly Bright Light: Like most of the Shadow-touched, Jennera is more comfortable in the dark. She can tolerate daylight without issue but suddenly bright light causes her pain and can even blind her temporarily. She has a great respect for the spark pellets that some slavers use to blind and daze individuals they are looking to capture and takes great pains to avoid them whenever possible.

A Great character! Approved  ;D

Don't worry, she's friendly once you get to know here or at least you'll think so after a few sessions of dreamwalking.

Jokes aside, her powers are more mental manipulation then mind control (because no one wants to lose control of a character, it's no fun for anyone) when used on player characters so the player can decide how effective her "nudges" in their dreams are.

The thread has received (and is receiving its first major updates).

The opening post has been organized and broken down into a much more readable, digestible format that can be better browsed to get a feel for the world without being overwhelmed.

I am working on a player guide as well, which will further detail the world, the lore, the major factions in Thul'Rakka and all around deepen the experience, but I will wait to share that as we see if we gain more interest.

I would like to thank everyone who has been interested it has been wonderfully gratifying to create worlds (between this and Fallout 69) that some people are finding rewarding enough to invest their time or interest into them. Thank you all for that, seriously.

Happy Adventures!

(Coming soon the Player's guide section will be updated and reformatted for better reading and will be amended and updated as mentioned above!)

The character sheet has been fixed and amended. Please go through and make any needed changes (they should be minor) Thank you!

Changes made. I assume it's okay to still keep a secondary weapon, if not I can remove it easily.

More than fine to keep a secondary weapon. I just figured in the long run that was a little redundant on the character sheet and not something that needs to be explicitly specified. And your update looks great!
