“If you are time travelers, then prove it. Escape if you can...
I will die here, with my people.”

-
Jessica Kern At the death of Timeline-2924.

After horrifying, colossal Kaiju rose from the depths of the earth and drove humanity to the brink of extinction, only the Pilots - time travelers who have seen the world die countless times - can stand in their way.

The Pitch:

While technically based in a Video Game IP, knowledge of the source material is not necessary at all. The game is based in a world with Lore which is almost intentionally bare bones, which gives us TONS of room to grow it and make it entirely out own.
Before I explain the premise, let me point out a few of the series which this world is a mash-up of (in one way or another):

Pacific Rim
Neon Genesis
Edge of Tomorrow (Live, Die, Repeat)
The Butterfly Effect
Groundhog Day
Titanfall

If any of these series are intriguing to you, then this game may be right up your alley. Let me set up the premise for you:

The Game:

You will be playing a Pilot, one of the brave heroes who has chosen to travel to diverging timelines again and again to save the world in as many realities as possible. In your own behemoth, city-dwarfing Mech, you must accept the risk of fighting Kaiju every bit as strong as you… often much stronger. You only have intelligence and teamwork to sway the battlefield in your favor.

There are a massive (albeit finite) number of diverging timelines in which humanity is threatened by giant insectoid Kaiju, called the Vek. Only you and your fellow Pilots can prevent the countless innocent people within from a horrifying demise.

But that's just the basics. What does it mean to be a Pilot... really?

It means that you have seen countless, helpless civilians crushed, devoured, and slaughtered by disgusting, eldritch monsters. During your battles, you've almost certainly caused untold amounts of collateral damage in your attempts to defeat the Vek... It also means that you've probably saved an equally countless number of lives.

You are loved and treated like a celebrity. You are also despised and mistrusted by those whom you have failed. Millions of people hail you as a savior... while just as many curse you for your failings.

What does their love/hatred mean to you at this point?

Only you can decide.

Also, alongside humans, there is a race of sentient, androids/robots. They were originally created as helpers for the humans, but sometime before the rise of the Vek, they gained sentience and separated themselves. Now with the Earth on the verge of total annihilation, humans and AI have joined hands to defeat this new threat.

I'll be delving into the specifics of the game (how time travel works, character creation, mech creation, etc) in a moment, but for now I just wanted to establish the basics and set expectations.

The game will be mostly free form, however I will ask for dice rolls in instances where our character is facing a challenge and success is not guaranteed. All rolling will be done through Discord (a Discord account is not required... more on that momentarily).

I will have a character and mech building template posted soon, and you can use it to create a pilot and a primary mech. Bear in mind that your mechs will start relatively basic, and they will advance as time goes on.

The Rules:

1. Be Respectful. Simple respect goes a long way to ensure a fun game. Disagreements are understandable and natural, but at the end of the day, we are all just trying to have fun. If you have a problem, politely and privately address it to the person in question. Most of the time, such issues can be resolved. I will step in only if necessary.
2. Discord. I plan to use Discord for OOC conversation and dice rolls, but it is not required. However, if you want to roll for your own skill challenges, you must join the Discord. Otherwise, I have no problem rolling for you.
3. Keep Your Characters/Mech Grounded at Character Creation. I will create a sample character as an example, but I want to ensure that characters start above average, and then grow into the extraordinary. Your character/mech should not be insanely powerful or over the top. In the beginning, your mech will have 1 weapon, and your pilot will have 1 unique ability, but both will grow over time. By all means, you can plan ahead, even let me know OOC, I'd love to hear your ideas... just don't go crazy out the gate.
4. Time Travel: Under specific circumstances your character can and will travel through time. Time travel is always a -- noodly -- part of fiction, so let's work together to prevent logical inconsistencies. That said, try to suspend your disbelief when necessary and don't freak out if we make some small continuity error... It'll be okay lol
5. Smut vs. Story. I intend for this game to focus more on story, but I will absolutely allow saucy content within the game. Just make sure to respect each others O/O's
6. One character per writer + (Backup). I am only allowing one character per writer starting out in game. You are advised to draft up a second one to keep on the back burner, but for the start of the story, just one character is allowed in game.
7. Multiple Mechs. I am actually okay with you creating different Mechs to control in different missions. (Still, just start with one at first) Adding in-universe reasons for changing Mechs would be expected and appreciated... But your character isn't married to their first mech. However, new Mechs will have to be approved by the GM, same as the first one.
8. Respect the GM's rulings I am always trying my hardest to allow everyone's cool ideas in, while still maintaining the original integrity of my world. I promise that I take no pleasure in bossing people around, and I'll be glad to hear requests to change or explain a ruling. But once I've made a firm ruling, please work with me. I don't have time for long debates.
9. Keep in touch with the group. If you are planning a hiatus, I can work with you. Just keep me in the loop. Real world stuff always takes top priority, but don't leave us in the dark please.
10. In Character Discrimination. While I will not tolerate rudeness between players, based on gender, sexual orientation, religion, or anything else... players should not expect for all of their modern sensibilities to be shared by all of the characters within the game. Your characters will likely meet rude, prejudiced NPCs, and not all of them will be villains. Art mimics life, and in real life some people suck.
11. Consequences: Your characters are real people within a fictional world, and if they react in a wild or fool hearty manner, the world will react appropriately and your character may suffer... all as part of the story.
12. PC Death. This is a unique facit of this game. If your character dies (I won't be killing PC's willy-nilly, I swear), you have the option to bring in a new Pilot PC OR bring in your old character from a different timeline. What memories are the same? Which relationships are alike? Which ones are totally different? You get to decide.
13. Dice Rolls. On occasions, during missions, I will ask for dice rolls tests based on your character's/mech's strengths and weaknesses. If I message you and let you know that your character suffered a set back, we can discuss what that failure meant for the character, and you can decide how to narrate the struggle. Again, this is all to increase in game drama and tension.
14. Faceclaims. I am personally going for a realistic anime style portraits, and I'd prefer you do the same (you can see my sample character down below). I won't outright reject other styles of faceclaim, but at least you know what I'm going for.
15. Images for Mechs.  As mech images go, I know it may be difficult to find an image that perfectly fits your idea, so I will try to be lenient in that regard. Personally, I used AI and just added "towering over a futuristic city" in the prompt, and that helped quite a bit, I think. I won't immediately reject images if they were borrowed from another series... just please, use something a bit obscure. Don't show up in Optimus Prime, for the love of Pete. lol

Below, I have added lore info, character sheet templates + code for copy/paste, Explanations about Time Travel (The Breach), info on the Kaiju which threaten the World (The Vek), and a Glossary. Also, I've added a Disclaimer.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!!!

The World at Large (Lore)

Backstory: In the far flung future of 2673, humanity was brought to the brink of complete destruction when subterranean, insectoid monsters rose from beneath Earth's crust and began crushing the world under their foul insectoid carapaces.

The Vek, as they became known, only had one weakness. Water.
More specifically, not a single one could swim.

As a result, someone, (sources disagree on whom) decided that torching the polar ice caps and flooding the world was the only solution.

The gambit worked, for a time, and humanity rebuilt the majority of itself on the four remaining habitable islands. However, the Vek which remained under the crust during the flood finally found the path back to the islands.

Now, many years later, all 4 Islands are the target of countless Vek attacks.

The Islands:

  • Archive Incorporated:
Run by the quaint and enigmatic CEO Dewey Alms, Archive is a throwback to Earth's earlier, more happy times. The entire island is a stylized museum to humanity's past, cirka 2450. Pre-Vek tanks and vehicles still litter the island, doing what precious little they can against the invaders with their weak 5" shells and their flawed targeting systems.
  • R.S.T. Corporation:
The desert Island of R.S.T. was once a paradise, before the stern, unwavering CEO Jessica Kern unleashed powerful terraforming technology on the Vek. Her methods were effective in defeating the first wave of Kaiju, but it left the island as a near inhospitable, arid wasteland... and it did nothing to stop the second, third, and fourth waves of the Vek. Jessica distrusts most everyone, including the Pilots. In spite of being a time-travel sceptic, she does begrudgingly accept the help of the Pilots. She is now an old woman, and yet no more pleasant than ever.
  • Pinnacle:
Now home to both humans and sentient automatons, Pinnacle is run by the AI computer known as Zenith, presented to the world as a female hologram. In spite of being the most technologically advanced Island, Pinnacle struggles with rogue, AI Mechs which often go haywire and attack both the cities they were created to protect, and the Mech that try to stop them. With semi religious-fervor, Zenith insists that all lives, both machine and biological, have worth, and she is loath to destroy even the rogue robots which occasionally attacked her buildings. Surprisingly however, she has no affinity for the Vek, and she will gleefully watch them die down to the last one.
  • Detritus:
Built on the irradiated remnants of old world Chernobyl, Detritus stands as an acid soaked, radioactive gem of an island. Far from being uninhabitable however, the clever inhabitants of the island, lead by the cheerful Vikram Singh have put the toxic chemicals to use, melting down and recycling all manner of waste. It works well on the Vek too in a pinch. All and all, not a bad place to live. Just don't go outside without a hazmat suit, if you like having skin.

Mech Classes

Below are the 4 classes of Mech along with their given stats and additional points to spend.
Any deviation from the given stats will need approval. I can make allowances, if you have an interesting idea, but be warned, the further it strays from the set design, the more likely it is to be disallowed. Not trying to be a booty-hole, I'm just trying to keep things consistent.

Every Mech starts with 10   points to divide among their stats, but some classes have more room for customization.
Stats can be kept at zero, (marked as " - "), and they will just be the lowest possible rank in that skill. Zero in range is close-melee only (fists), where as a 1 in range could be a sword with a much longer reach. Zero in speed is a crawl (10 mph or so). Zero in damage means no direct damage dealt (but you can still deal lingering status effects like fire or acid etc)

As far as actual aesthetic designs of the Mech, I'm less likely to have an issue. I've created the base designs with AI art, but I'll make allowances if you can't find an image that fits your character concept.

Classes of Mech:

Prime:
Archetype: Short Range, Tough, Brawler

The Prime Class Mechs tend to be the heavy damage dealing, close range fighters. While advanced models can use ranged weapons, traditional Prime mechs do their killing up close and personal.

Brute:
Archetype: Fast, Long Range, Piercing Attacks

Normally utilizing wheels or treads (or alternatively flight), the Brute Class Mechs tend to be the long range, line of sight, cannon style machines. Sniping from across the map, they target and fire straight at their enemies. While their damage is not generally as high as Primes or Artillery, their speed and long range split the difference between the two.

Artillery:
Archetype: Slow, Lumbering, Volley-fire Bombardment Attacks

Slow moving, but the longest ranged, Artillery mechs provide death from above... launched from the ground. Their concussive blasts are often used to push enemies wherever needed, and they are masters of killing while unseen.

Science:
Archetype: Fast, Flying, Unusual Methods of Enemy Manipulation

Definitely the weirdest of the mech types, Science Mechs rely less on damage, and more on using cutting edge inventions to manipulate the battlefield and their enemies. Teleportation, Mind Control, Terraforming, Shielding and more, Science Mechs bend reality in order to win their fights.

Science Mechs are also the granted Flight at level 1 for no cost, or they can trade it for an extra point. Losing Flight caps Speed at 5 at Character Creation.

Glossary

  • Android: Sometime before the Rise of the Vek, a Central AI computer named Zenith gained sentience and established a race of sentient androids, which had previously been service robots for mankind. These artificial life-forms come from Pentacle, an island that is now home to both androids and humans. Sometimes humans and androids do not get along, but with the threat of the Vek, most of those differences have been put aside for now.
  • Breach: Created whenever a world cannot be saved, this is a man-made rip in the fabric of space and time, located high in the atmosphere. Pilots pass through these in their escape pods.
  • Core: Nickname for a Mech Reactor.
  • Grid: The city-wide power source that powers everything, including the Mechs. For an unknown reason, as soon as the Grid fails, and the Mechs lose power, the Vek ALWAYS swarm in mass, dooming humanity in one fell stroke.
  • Mech: Massive machines that have the ability to fight Kaiju. They are powered by The Grid, and apart from their impressive armaments, they also contain a secret weapon. If all remaining pilots on a mission deem that a timeline is beyond saving, they can press the final button, tear a hole in the time-space continuum far above them in the stratosphere, and eject their pod from their Mech to pierce their way into another timeline. The process is imprecise, however, and a squad of Pilots will seldom (if ever) travel together to the same timeline.
  • Mech Reactor: The device that converts the Grid’s ambient energy field into usable power for the Mechs. The more a Mech has, the more capable it can be.
  • Pilot: Someone who pilots Mechs... obviously. The best and brightest on Earth. While piloting a Mech does not make you a time traveler inherently, Pilots are the only people given access to the tech necessary to open a Breach and step back in time. If you are trusted to save humanity, you are trusted with the ability to open a time portal for yourself if a timeline is doomed. Your skills as a Pilot are too valuable to waste on a doomed world.
  • Pod: The escape pods that take Pilots to a new timeline. Occasionally, these pods crash to Earth from a different timeline. Even less commonly, they could contain a living pilot or a piece of tech from a different world. Often, they only contain a corpse. However, a Mech Reactor can almost always be salvaged from the wreckage.
  • Temporal Reset: A hiccup in the timeline. If all pilots agree, they can activate a Reset and shutter reality back about 30 seconds. Less permanent than creating a Breach, the process takes too much energy to do more than once per mission.
  • Temporal Splitter Link: The controls that allow pilots to tear open a hole in space-time to find a new timeline that can be saved.
  • Vek: The leviathan-sized, city-devouring, unintelligent monsters that have brought humanity to its knees with their size and numbers. No one knows why they arose when they did or why they don’t just attack all at once. But as long as the Grid remains, they continue attacking in relatively small numbers and fleeing if they encounter too much resistance.

Time Travel Mechanics and Gameplay

There are two types of Time Travel in this game, Temporal Resets and Breaches.

  • Temporal Resets are a little bump... like a wrinkle in the timeline. If all Pilots on a mission agree (along with the GM if necessary) then all Pilots can activate a Temporal Reset, which rewinds time about 30 seconds. No one in the world knows that anything happened... it registers a bit like deja vu... but all pilots retain that half minute's worth of memories. This can be used to save a character from dying or defeat a foe who would otherwise escape. But regardless, it can only occur once per mission (twice under very specific circumstances).
  • Breaches are full tears in the space time continuum. If the whole world is doomed, all living pilots can decide to abandon the timeline and find others to save.
However, Pilots who eject in their escape pods into the breach will find themselves in a random timeline... without their fellow Pilots. If this happens, we will need to decide which pilot we follow, and which characters are waiting for him in the new timeline.

{I'll be honest, this is possibly a GAME ENDING sort of scenario, and I don't expect it to happen... but it is always on the table.}

Lastly, you won't have to worry about a PC encountering his/herself. Characters in the video game make jokes about it all the time, but it never happens, so I assume the time-travel mechanism won't allow it. (I mean you CAN do it in game, but only with hacks. 🤭)
.

The Vek

The main threat of this game will be the insectoid Kaiju called the Vek. They outnumber the Mechs, and some of them are stronger as well. They can fly, leap, burrow, spit acid, heal, armor themselves, and boost their attacks, to name a few of their abilities. They can also bite, slash, spit spines and a bunch of other fun attacks. You'll meet them all once you start playing.

What they can't do is swim. It's their ultimate weakness. Get them in a body of water as deep as they are, and they are toast. There are rare exceptions where they will not die instantly to deep water, but you'll learn more about that as the game progresses.

Honestly, that's about all I think I need to say about them, since I want to introduce them to you one by one and maintain a bit of mystique going in. If I reveal everything here, it won't be as interesting when I describe them in game.

Character/Mech Example
Character Creation:

Your character is a time-travelling Mech Pilot. Traditionally, they will have some degree of basic combat training, but mech piloting would be their primary area of expertise.

Below is a sample of a Character Sheet, along with the code to make your own.

🄺🄰🄸 🄼🄸🄻🄻🄴🅁

Full Name: Kai Miller
Age: 19
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Asexual
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 120lbs
Hair Color: Purple
Eye Color: Grey
Home Island: R.S.T.
Personality: Arrogant, Aloof, Intelligent
General Description: Tall, thin, and lanky, Kai stands out in a crowd, but not for enviable reasons. Fair skinned and lithe, she has an air of superiority around her that is evident from the moment she speaks. Her hands tremble occasionally when she holds them out, and she can often be seen forming two fists in an apparent attempt to stop the shakes. She also tend to relax often with only one eye fully open, as if nothing around her is worth her full attention. Her voice contains the slightest hint of what might have been called a "Southern Drawl" in times past.
History: Kai was trained as a Pilot at the age of fourteen, and she lied to get herself into a Mech at the age of seventeen. The opinions about her from those she saves means less than nothing to her. She is already convinced of her skill and value apart from the ratings of others. Her father was a famous pilot, but after he saved her original timeline, he jumped to another, never to bee seen again. Part of her hopes that she will see him again, but she has traveled to so many different timelines, and she has never encountered him... she has begun to suspect that he was lost in time transit. She never talks about him anymore.
Personal Motto: "Repetition is the death of hope... but let's make success a habit. Hah."
Pilot Ability Name: Arrogant Boost
Pilot Ability Description: Kai deals an additional ✪ of damage, as long as her mech is at full health.

🄱🅁🄸🄼🅂🅃🄾🄽🄴

Mech Name: Brimstone
Mech Class: Artillery
Mech Description: A slow, lumbering behemoth, Brimstone is one of the ugliest mechs on the islands. It looks like its massive bulk would let it take a few hits without a problem... but that couldn't be further from the truth. All of Brimstone's internal armor was stripped to add more components to the fat, stubby cannon which takes up the entire inside of the mech. Aside from that, the internal fuselage is lined with the massive High Explosive shells that give Brimstone it's killing capasity. If it were to recieve even hit or two, the Brimstone would devolve into a flaming mess. The term "glass-cannon" is an understatement.
Weapon: Hell's Cannon.
Weapon Description: Nothing to look at, the cannon lobs hover-bus sized shells into the stratosphere, just so they can come crashing down, raining divine-style fire upon the foe. Bathing the target area in flames and concusive blasts, the weapon has been known to entirely vaporize mid-sized Vek on a direct hit. Even if the round misses, the flames provide excellent area denial.
 Status Effect/Elemental: Fire

Disclaimer
So I am a big fan of this video game.
I am not going to tell you that my husband asked me, "Why the hell do you keep playing the same game over and over...?" 😅
Buuuut, I will say that I have beaten this game over 60 times (It isn't a long game if you get in a good rhythm) and I have read through as many Lore documents as I could find for it (there weren't all that many).

That said, I'm doing my best to follow the original Lore of the game, while I am taking the liberty to create anything I deem necessary. I haven't changed much, but if I did want to change something drastic, I'd do it, and I wouldn't apologize.
Most notably, the designs for the Vek (originally lovingly crafted in 16bit graphics) have been recreated by me using AI art, and they don't all stick that close to the original designs. I don't care. I have also created new Vek units that I thought would be neat, and I don't intend to apologize for that either.
So if you are an INTO THE BREACH purist, you might want to either look away or grin and bear it, because I don't intend to stick 100% to the source material. No one from Subset Games is going to come give me a trophy if I do abide by all the original IP lore, and I wouldn't even want it if they did. I like creating, and making thing my own, as I've done here.
So definitely give the original game a chance if you like turn-based strategy, but don't jump on me when it's different from this RP🤭

Thinking a Sciencey-Mech type!

Kadigan

Life is starting to free up a bit and I find myself interested. Especially in a brute / flight as an Android

Marie Reynolds

Hmm I am  interested. Would a Science Mech  that  can function as a Hospital and Emergency Shelter piloted by a medic and or doctor work for this?

I think that's an interesting concept.

I like the idea of a medical Mech, but I think it's important to remember that the Mechs were created by humanity primarily for defeating the Vek and defending the Grid.

You, as a pilot, may be incredibly concerned with the health and well-being of the people inside the cities, but the Mech designers were more concerned with saving humanity as a whole, rather than caring for individual casualties.

That said, I do love the idea of a Doctor piloting a mech and caring deeply for the lives she has to save.

There's basically 2 ways I can see this working (off the top of my head).

1) The Mech uses something like a nanobot cloud to repair machines (like the Mechs, and even the Grid perhaps), and as such is a "medic" for all the Androids from Pinnacle.

2) The Mech uses a nanobot cloud or energy fields to heal biological creatures, and the nanobot/fields are also capable of doing "anti-healing" to the Vek. Like the Collosal equivalent of stabbing someone with a medical scalpel.

I'm open to other ideas, but that's the first ones I came up with.

Marie Reynolds

I could add those Ideas for abilities of the mechs Maybe both if it would not be to much for one  mech to have the ability to do  I was thinking that as for it is physical design more over that in  the aftermath of fight it could  work as  an emergency shelter.  so  probably be like a 4 legged mech with flight and  inside it chassis have space to provide beds, a kitchen, bathing facilities and medical facilities.  So even if their are no civilians needing rescue. She can also provide a place for her team to rest, recover from injuries and clean up.

I had not really thought of its abilities yet. But those are good ideas. I was thinking it had the ability to either generate bulwarks or force fields or maybe Gravitation manipulation rays to help slow down the advance of rampaging Vex while the more up close and personal  fighter mechs did what they do best. Though I have to say I like those Healing ideas you came up with.

Oh if you're just talking about out-of-combat facilities, absolutely. That's an excellent idea. Reminds me of how in real life, US Aircraft carriers are like floating, nuclear-powered cities with modern healthcare facilities aboard. That's a neat idea.

As far as the abilities goes, pick your favorite one to start, and then as the game progresses you'll get to upgrade the mech to do more.

In the original game, Mechs only get to have 2 or 3 abilities tops, but I can see us going beyond that as the game progresses... still, I want us to start simple and build into complexity.

Entrapta: “Did you hear that, Emily? I’ve never had a lab partner before!"

Marie Reynolds

Yep out of combat Facilities  is exactly what I was going for Glad you like it! Yep just like how an air craft carrier has those modern facilities.  Okay I will  give it some thought which ability the mech has.

So question about androids is eating optional for them but they can do it and have a sense of taste or is it unnecessary cause androids can't process food?

Quote from: Marie Reynolds on June 01, 2025, 07:22:01 PMSo question about androids is eating optional for them but they can do it and have a sense of taste or is it unnecessary cause androids can't process food?
Pinnacle is described as having a wide array of different styles of robots/android.

Some were originally designed for recycling biomass, and so they would gladly eat spoiled food that humans would throw out. As such their opinion of "taste" would be drastically skewed from a human perspective.

However, others were originally designed to be cooks and servers, and those can identify tasty foods vs bad ones, and they might prefer one over the other (while they can easily absorb energy from either without getting sick).

Remember, androids have "evolved/progressed" for a few hundred years at this point, and many of them are fascinated by the human condition. Those would certainly be augmented to appreciate the same foods that humans like... if only for the shared comradery.

One of the famous android Pilots you will likely encounter through the game is Prospero, and he is obsessed with gardening. So androids are just as varied as humans in many regards.

Alright, now that I have a few people's attention, I'd like to point out a few abilities that all Mech's/Pilots have by default. It may help you during Character Creation

Self Repair: Every turn, you have the ability spend your turn repairing your mech for 1 HP (I may increase this number as the game progresses). You'll have to narrate how this repair was performed, but it's something everyone can do.

Block Vek Emerging: As the Vek attempt to surface, you can place your mech directly above them and trap them underground (insert face-sitting joke here, if you must 😊). Trapping them does do damage your Mech though, as they claw, bite or spit acid/spines into your undercarriage, but they will not emerge that round.

Even flying Mechs can hover low over a Vek emergence point, and the downward thrust of your ship's repulsers will keep them at bay... But they'll still be spitting acid or spines through the cracks forming in the ground, guaranteed.

If you move the following round, they will still emerge... But they will flee earlier than the others if they consistently cannot surface... almost as reliable as a kill.

Pushing: If you directly strike a Vek, or detonate an explosion beside them, etc, the attack could violently shove the Vek... and if they strike a building, another Vek, or a friendly Mech, both will take damage. This is one of the best ways to deal bonus damage.... Or destroy the Grid, if your character is careless.

These are all important features ripped directly from the original game, and I figured it was only right to represent them in mine.

Full Name: Kazuto Nagatomo
Age: 27
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 155 lbs
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Brown
Home Island:  Detritus
Personality: Quiet, Stern, Bitter
General Description: Tall, fit, and athletic,  Kazuto is well known for keeping to himself. He always seems to brood in a way that is frustrating and off-putting to those around him. His hair and beard often go unattended, and his cloths are sometimes ill-fitting.
History: Kazuto was never great at making friends as a child, and that has continued into adulthood.
While some women consider him dark and mysterious, he almost as often labeled a weirdo for the way that he refuses to socialize normally. A poorly repaired scar marks an injury that he took in another timeline. Occasionally known for aggressive outbursts when not left alone, he is most often given a wide berth. The repair techs tend to like him, though, because he never gives them additional requests on his Mech like so many other pilots do.
Personal Motto: "I don't have a motto. Go away."
Pilot Ability Name: Fire Bug.
Pilot Ability Description: Well practiced in avoiding excessive heat, Kazuto can move through flaming terrain without his mech taking fire damage.

Mech Name: Azure Flame
Mech Class: Brute
Mech Description: Fast driving and fast firing, the Azure Flame uses a barrage of laser blasts to ignite the flesh of its enemies. Originally designed to target weak points, the mech's laser blasts turned out to do almost as much lingering damage through flames as it ever did with its blasts. The techs have nicknamed it "Zippo" after the ancient lighter brand. "It zips in, and zips out" is the phrase most often attributed to it.
Weapon: R.S.T. System's Rapid Auto LASER Turret - or- "Blue Raspberry"
Weapon Description: Rapid-fire laser turret. Nicknamed Blue Raspberry because of it's color and its distinctive sound (as in blowing a raspberry) the weapon unleashes a withering stream of laser blasts so close to one another, they almost appear to be a single beam. The repeated blasts are not the highest damaging, but they are great at starting fires both on enemy flesh, or on the ground for area denial.
Status Effect/Elemental: Fire.

Alright, peeps! I just created a pilot that I will be using in the first post once the game starts. Some posts will be written from his perspective, and some will be written from the perspective of NPCs, for the purposes of setting up missions.
Depending on how many people join the final game, I may have one or two missions running at a time... I'm not yet sure. The more people I accept into the game, the more challenging it will be to run, but I'm up for a little bit of a challenge so we'll see.

OH! One more thing.

I added  "Status Effect/Elemental"  to the Mech creation tab. I have a fair idea of how I would like certain elements and effects to work in game, but I'm sure there are plenty that aren't in the original game/I haven't thought of. If you wanna use an element or effect, let me know, and we can talk about how it can be handled.

LET'S SEE THOSE CHARACTER SHEETS!  :D

I would be interested in the game with a brute mech with flight capability.

Full Name: Vega Delgado Benjamin
Age: 18 3⁄4
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Height: 6'6
Weight: 240lbs
Hair Color: Black/Blond
Eye Color: Gold(Surgically Modified)
Home Island: Pinnacle
Personality: Laid-Back, Easy-Going, Driven, Charismatic
General Description: Vega is as powerfully built as his mech. Standing at six feet, six inches and being a lifelong fan of exercise and martial arts, he is muscular and well-defined. He has caramel-brown skin, with a large majority of it covered in tattoos and scars (primarily gained from roughhousing with his android buddies). Despite being only eighteen, his strong facial features and facial hair give him a more mature appearance than his age suggests. His dreadlocks are streaked with blond and they hang down to shoulder length. Perhaps his most striking and noticeable feature is his piercing golden eyes.
History: Vega had a great life growing up. A loving family. Plenty of friends both human and android. The choice to do and be whatever he wanted. So why would he decide to become a Pilot? He wanted to make sure that type of life was available for others. In his own timeline or another. Besides, with him in the cockpit, he knows for a fact he has the best chance of making sure his own timeline doesn't get left to the mindless slaughter of the Vek horde. He has trained from a very young age and despite still being young, his skill is undeniable and combined with his natural confidence, that makes him a very dangerous weapon against those buggy bastards.
Personal Motto: Don't take life so serious...nobody gets out alive.
Pilot Ability Name: Dig Deep
Pilot Ability Description: Vega can swap a ✪ of Health to increase either his Damage or Speed. Should he not take damage or perform a Hollywood-worthy fight move, the ✪ is refunded and the increased stat returns to normal. If he takes damage or doesn't pull off the stunt, the increased stat remains, but his health is also reduced for(insert GM-approved number of rounds here).

Mech Name: Heretic
Mech Class: Prime
Mech Description: Heretic is built like a world class fighter. With a powerful core, thick neck and shoulders, as well as long, muscular limbs and clawed hands and feet, it cuts a figure of a raging demon. As a Prime, Heretic has increased armor around the shoulders, torso, head, and joints to allow it to operate at maximum capacity while retaining full mobility. Heretic is bulkiest on his arms and legs, as that's where his weapon systems are housed. The cockpit is contained in a neural-linked bubble of sorts that allows Heretic to move in sync with Vega. While he appears primarily humanoid, Heretic's skull resembles that of a smiling horror in the dark. If the Veks can understand fear, Vega wants his evil grin to be the last thing they ever see.
Weapon: Extreme Prejudice
Weapon Description: Extreme Prejudice is the collective name of the pistons housed in Heretic's arms and legs. The pistons retract, then pressurize while the attacking limb simultaneously charges with superheated plasma so that upon release they multiply the kinetic impact of Heretic's punches, kicks, and knees to literal explosive levels. A clean punch can leave a fist-sized hole right out the other side of a Vek, and a piston kick can shear them in half if delivered correctly. While primarily used in combat, the pistons can be "fired" with precise timing to increase Heretic's speed and leaping capability.
Status Effect/Elemental: Plasma

I'm unsure what kind of mech archetype I want to fit into 🤔 I was gonna go with Science at first, but now I'm unsure. I want a fast, close-range attacker-type. Any advice?

That's definitely a Prime like Heretic.

You think so? I don't want a brute/tough-sort of mech though, which is the vibe I get from Prime. I want more of a slender, glass-cannon. Heavy damage, high speed but low health and defence.

That'd still be a Prime since it's close-range/melee focused, you would just tweak the stats so way more points go into damage and speed by taking those points from Health. So it'd be something like 5 damage, 4 speed, 1 heatlh and 0 range. Taking a hit would be catastrophic, but you're so fast that getting hit rarely happens and you punch way above your weight class. But you have to get right up in their grill. Smash mouth style.
