Well I would not Alternate Identity for the modern world identity But I was toying with the Idea the character has an Alternate Identity that she awakens when meeting the queens knight. So its like she has before this living another life in her dreams and when they  get tapped by the queen she learns she has had another life this whole time that she just  thought was  a series of reoccurring dreams through out her life. So she would have her Mundane Identity which she would not need Alternate identity for and  who she is in the dream world. I would  have the characters personality be the same but a different appearance  and different experiences and a much different life  than her mundane life. So this alternate identity would only be something that existed in the Dream world.

craeric

ya it might work for you to.   But I don't want to say too much more, as it would get into plot ideas I have- and we might go to

Just wanted to drop in. Let you know I am still working on my character. Just working on selecting a Major and  balancing the skills  between the modern day life and the  Dream world life.

Marie Reynolds

@craeric  Does the Dream world have modern Technology or just what you would find in a typical High Fantasy setting? I am looking to  have a Character with a  Theatre production and a Minor in Business managment. So Just trying to get an idea of Skills and Tool proficiencies  that would work  for both the modern day and the dream world.

craeric

oh the dream world is not just one world.   some adventures would be scifi.  Others pure fantasy.  still others this or that.   There is considerable concepts available.

@craeric Okay so its a mix of everything cool good to know! So the worlds probably blend together and a person could have knowledges and skills that would not be available in more traditional representations of  the worlds.  So with skills like Visual arts  that cover painting drawing and etc would you  then also need the corresponding tool proficiencies to  make  art like that or would  you just be able to take the skill. Anime 5e has created  some redundancies' and  I could not find an explanation if you need both the skill and the tool proficiency or just the skill in the case of  the Visual arts skill.

craeric

ya its never clear.   But I would say only the skill.

And ya.   kind of a mix- there would be two 'main' worlds, our real waking world and the kingdom.  But the Kingdom... we won't go into it yet :).

Marie Reynolds

Thanks!  Just as long as I have an idea of what tech is available  that will be enough to  get my concept together.

Marie Reynolds

@craeric  Irondale is that the Modern city the game starts in? If so what Languages could we expect to see their? Also I was planning on reserving a Language slot for the dream world, will their be languages specific to the dream world or will it just used modern day languages? Also about  Dynamic Sorcery Dream walking, So would some of the Cantrip level stuff being able to locate an entry into the dreams maybe making mundane items or food? Like creating some simple obstacles or changes to the terrain?

craeric

well as I say dream walking will be explained in the game, somewhat, but the cantrips, and able to shape the dreams mildly- at low levels like picking up a kitchen knife and making it a machete or a stick and making it a baseball bat, changing the look of your clothes to match the local (Going from Pajama's to a cowboy/girls outfit in a dream of the old west for instance), basic things would be part of it.   THis shaping becomes more potent at higher levels ,up to and including creating a 'persistent world' at the highest.

There likely IS a dream-world language, yes, but mostly it uses earth languages.  basically- most 'worlds' are, well, the dreams of those sleeping in the real world, but there are a few persistant realms.  Camalot perhaps, for instance, that are 'islands' of dreams, stable, long lasting.  But deep in the dream-realm/multiverse is a persistant 'dream world' that is the source of it all, and it is where the queen resides and the knight is sent from.

Irondale Is in the 'real world' yes.

Marie Reynolds

Okay cool, I will leave a language ear marked for when we learn the  Persistent Kingdoms language name.
Alright thanks for  clarification on the Dream walking stuff.
Now what kind of Languages would be common to Irondale?

craeric

I figure it to be a small us college town.  So English and spanish are the most vital.  But any could be justified.

I just wanted to hop in to say, I may not be saying much right now, but I'm still interested. I'm waiting to see a character sheet first though, just so I have a template to work with. ^^

Marie Reynolds

Cool! I will likely not be done tonight before my real time game starts.

craeric

ya heading to work myself, so its okay.  see it when I can- and have fun!   Nothing beats tabletop, I admit.

Marie Reynolds

I am so glad I got my character finally done. If anyone new to the system needs help I can try my best to  help.

craeric

as will I.   My group has been playing it- or had until a disruption- for a few years, we enjoyed it greatly

Rashol

Awwww.. no pet monster tamer. Nevermind. Thinking of it as the weird guy with imaginary friends. Is no problems ;) Maybe give them an energy cost to remain in dreamality.

Honestly I'm looking at it because I'm quite fond of LEGO Dreamz

Callie Del Noire

Well I talked to Crearic and I’m waffling thru my pc.
