-: Currently Checking for Interest <WARNING OF SPOILERS> :-

The idea for this game is to have an open sandbox type game initially set in the Dornish Region of Westeros from the Song of Ice and Fire books by Geore R.R. Martin, timeline being at the end stage of Ice and Fire where George R.R. Martin has written up to. It's the southern most region of Westeros, being hotter than the rest of the regions and seemingly foreign to the rest of Westeros as their history is mixed with the Rhoynar invasion from Essos. I've picked Dorne for a few reasons, one being that they seem the region most accepting and open which will allow the game to be LGBTQ+ friendly. Also it will allow for writers to pair a character with more than one other character as well.

Initially we'll leave it as open sandbox, but if the group is small, we can come up with a story direction as House Dorne has many possible directions we could go in. Hose Martell, the rulers of Dorne are at the point in the timeline, conspiring revenge on the Iron Throne as the Lannisters were responsible in their eyes for the death of Elia Martell and her children. They also were joined into the Seven Kingdoms by marriage with the Targaryens and have plotted to side with both Aegon "Young Griff" Targaryen and Daenary's Targaryen. There's also numerous other storylines we could venture down if we include people from other areas of Westeros and Essos.

And to that point, just to make it clear, you do not need to make your character Dornish. They could be from the North, The Reach, The Riverlands or even Bravos. As long as the reason for them being in Dorne is explained and makes sense. Finally I'm thinking of making it created characters and minor characters only but could be swayed on this if demand is high. For example, Stannis Baratheon is a major character and realistically shouldn't be in Dorne. Meanwhile Edric Dayne is a Lord in Starfall which is in Dorne, and currently doesn't have any major plotline tying him to a location. (Yes I am interested in playing Edric Dayne or the Lord of Starfall, hence me mentioning this.) But you could be a Forrester that has escaped to the furthest part of Westeros away from the North for example as well.

Please feel welcome to express your interest, and I'll link future threads and posts to this post here when interest has been checked.

Stella

I would love to be part of this! Dorne is a great setting and House Martell one of my favourite houses.

TreyWalker

Awesome Stella, thanks so much for showing interest.

Are you thinking of playing someone from House Martell then?

Stella

I think so! I think Arianne Martell would be a great part to play - in still so disappointed she was cut from the show.

TreyWalker

Could definately allow for some great plot points. The secret betrothal plans that had Arianna think Doran was trying to make Quentyn Prince of Dorne instead of her being Princess. Plans to see Arianna and "Aegon" marry. Does Arianna still have her weakness for handsome men?

Dashenka

I'm interested. No idea on a character yet so I'll just sit tight and see what happens here now :)
Out here in the fields, I fight for my meals and I get my back into my living.

I don't need to fight to prove I'm right and I don't need to be forgiven.

TreyWalker

Your avatar had me mesmorized for a bit, but thank you so much for your interest.

Cute Bunny

I just finished AFFC last night, so this is great timing. I'd be interested in playing, but I'll still need to think on what sort of character I'd like to play.

TreyWalker

Some would say it's meant to be.

I'd love to have just finshed AFFC, think I finished it like 4 to 5 years ago now.

But thank you for showing interest, that makes three so far.

Clio

I'd love to play an original character. Perhaps one from House Mormont. I'd need to think of a reason for her to be in Dorne, of course.

Hmm, a Mormont in Dorne, suppose they could also be looking to overthrow the Lannisters due to their loyalty to House Stark. Perhaps looking for allies, or fleeing a Bolton host caused them to end up on a ship set for Dorne.

Should be very interesting to see someone from the North in the hotter climate of Dorne.

I was thinking that. Trading in their furs for silks.

Up north the furs are for keeping warm. In Dorne they are for comfort and luxury. I like the character idea a lot.

Dashenka

Where in the tv show is this game going to be set.. roughly which season....

I'm a philistine and haven't read the books :D

Book Spoilers for Current Timeline and Events for this Game
All though the War of the Five Kings seems to be winding down, tension still bubbles underneath the surface as new plots are being made. It is known that ‘King’ Stannis Baratheon is in the North with a large host, apparently rallying the North against Ramsay Bolton who holds Winterfell and has apparently wed Arya Stark. Euron ‘Crow’s Eye’ Greyjoy is crowned King of the Isles and claims to be King of the North too. Under Euron the Iron Islands have taken control of Land in the North and in the lands of the Reach.  In the Stormlands, a young man calling himself Aegon Targaryen has sailed from Essos and taken Griffin’s Roost.

In Kings Landing Cersei Lannister, King Tommen’s Regent continues her captivity at the Great Sept. She has confessed to certain charges which means she will stand trial, but she is now free again after walking to the Red Keep from the Great Sept naked. Historical enemies of Dorne, the Reach are also heading to Kings Landing upon hearing of Margaery’s imprisonment by the Faith, lifting a siege of Stormlands Storm’s End. The Frey’s however have taken Riverun with the former Lord Tully is under heavy guard at Casterly Rock. Winter however has reached the Riverlands during the end of the siege of Riverrun.

And in Dorne, the eldest son of the Prince has been sent east to wed the Mother of Dragons Daenarys Targaryen. Myrcella Baratheon, sister of King Tommen of the Iron Throne is still in Sunspear as a ward of the Martells, despite an attempt to kidnap her and name her Queen of the Iron Throne. The Iron Throne’s requests for youngest son of the Prince of Dorne to go to Kings Landing with Myrcella has been denied as the Prince discovered a plot for his youngest sons death. Instead he sent some Sand’s from the Martell family to be his eyes and ears in Kings Landing. With Winter arriving in the Riverlands, Dorne is one of the few places in Westeros that doesn’t suffer greatly from the Winter. With the seven kingdoms at war, what will Dorne’s next step be in their plan for revenge.

Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken So Far
Prince Doran Martell has called his Lords and Ladies to Sunspear for a celebration with his daughter Arianne Martell by his side. He has not made it clear exactly what the celebration is in order of. All the Lords and Ladies of Dorne have attended including Ser Daeron Dayne, Elyse Manwoody and Selyse Toland but so have faces from outside of Dorne. From the North came Alys Mormont, with her personal guard Zalani. Also the Sea Wolf Varok Flowers and Kodo Szot have both found themselves at court being recieved by Arianne Martell.

Now with the greetings with the Prince of Dorne completed, a friendship seems to have been sparked between Elyse Manwoody and Alys Mormont, as Elyse warns Alys to be weary of the Daeron Dayne who seems to be on the badside of the rulers of Dorne, Alys's hosts after a war of words between the Dayne and the Martells sparked off in front of an audience. Selyse Toland and Arianne Martell are now also catching up with a host of ladies around them, with Selyse ready to tell tales she had heard from the many captains that she deals with to her audience.

Meanwhile not far from Sunspear, a new King of the Stepstones has been crowned as Harras Harlaw of Grey Garden has captured the Stepstones and named himself King. Elyse Manwoody has been sent by Doran Martell as an envoy to attempt to forge and alliance with the new King.

SHAME!! SHAME!! (Just kidding!)

So I've just posted a summary of where everyone is, all though I have left out parts that perhaps wouldn't have reached Dorne as news. So for example there is no mention of Arya Stark's actual were abouts because it's unlikely many people know and that one of those few have gone to Dorne and told everyone.

Book to TV show comparison
Basically for a comparison to the TV show, Daenary's is still in Essos, Stannis is marching towards Winterfell, Cersei has just been released by the Faith of the Seven.

  • I know this is Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire, but all characters need to be 18 years of age.

Really want to either play a Northerner or a character from Essos. How either of them would end up in Dorne still eludes me :)

So I'm going to bed and think about it.
Out here in the fields, I fight for my meals and I get my back into my living.

I don't need to fight to prove I'm right and I don't need to be forgiven.

- Applicants must use photos of real people, 18 years or older.
- No O.P, god-like characters. We want balanced characters with strengths and flaws. Shouldn’t be heard in this setting, trusting is a character flaw in ASOIAF.

So I'm going to bed and think about it.

Well if you read this before bed, some food for thought.

There are Red Priests and followers of the Lord of Light in Dorne. Dorne has some links to Essos due to Nymeria the Rhoynish warrior queen sailing over and intergrating with the First Men and Andals in Dorne. Also they are only a few 'stepstones' away from the Disputed Lands which is contested between the Free Cities of Lys, Myr and Tyrosh.

As for Northerners, I've already mentioned trade and alliance building as a reason. Perhaps they are just going into hiding, fleeing to somewhere to be safe until they can return to the North.
