Yeah I haven't played the 2077 game yet. Have to wait till I can get my hands on a ps5. Just going off what's in the books. I also love arasaka and hope they are involved in some way. BTW decided on Merrill Askuga and Finch. That's right kids...I'm an undercover accountant.

Me too. Arasaka had a great appeal about it as antagonists that I just didn't get from the other Corporations. It's why I wanted Roan to have them as her parent's corporate employers - though it's just as likely they could be leading the hidden Arasaka activities in Night City. (This would also help to explain why they couldn't just strong-arm her or openly shut down her band, at least not without scape-goats and subterfuge.)

Quote2040 - 2076

Even after the defeat in the Fourth Corporate War, Arasaka maintained one of the largest armed forces of any other corporation. The corporation had most of it's operations limited to Japan and heavily reduced. Despite the the situation Arasaka still managed to hold onto a majority of their assets. By 2040, the Arasaka Corporation rebuilt itself and was slowly gaining back much of it's prior strength. The corporation was also attempting to amend it's relations with America and being welcomed back to continue it's operations. Arasaka still had small operations in select parts of America, however nothing official. Arasaka still covertly licensed their troops to other firms worldwide, however they would have to use the uniforms of their new "employers." The Arasaka Corporation's goal had not changed, the plan to return to political and economic height it held in the 2020s.

With the above in mind, it's feasible Roan's parents head up the corporation's operations in Night City, albeit under the guise of another company. Their daughter knows the truth - though it's not like she can prove it, since having any kind of paper-trail to the parent company is amateurish in the extreme.

In all honesty though, I've no idea how to sort the timing error for Roan's backstory and the state of affairs for Arasaka; really not relishing the idea of changing things around, but not sure how else to sort it. :-\  :-(

yeah leave it alone. its awesome we might have a SHADOW company to contend with, and I am almost done

Outcast

If I remember correctly, Arasaka being very active in a covert form over a long period of time is a key canonical plot point for CP Red.  There's at least one major NPC-run organisation in canon that is (behind the scenes) dedicated to trying to fight its influence.

Tweaking things very slightly so that most people weren't aware that Roan's family worked for Arasaka-in-disguise might indeed be all that's required.  Or they could even have been in the city as a form of corporate 'embassy' staff: openly representing Arasaka as diplomats dealing with a foreign power, and honest-to-goodness not engaged in supervising any (non-diplomatic) activities on the ground.  That would be illegal!

That works for me, if Hawkwood is good with it. Arasaka is still no doubt involved in a LOT of shit, albeit to a forcibly lesser degree (due to the necessity of subterfuge), but Roan would know who they were - she just wouldn't be able to prove a damn thing. Which will, admittedly, only serve to make her more determined than ever to burn them out.

Just going to retype this bit:
