Drothmick Unbeck

Drothmick's tale begins way before he was born; more specifically, it begins with Triskar the Intrepid, an upstart former pirate that he occasionally goes to the trouble of calling 'mother'. Triskar was rather notorious around the Sea of Fallen Stars, but everything changed when a certain silver-tongued, silver-eyed bard came into her life. Drothmick never wanted to hear the saucy details of their relationship, but one thing was for certain: that man was no ordinary bard, oh no. According to him, he was an exiled prince from a distant land, plotting to take his rightful throne from the hands of his evil uncle! This tragic tale moved Triskar to tears, and the bard seized this chance to begin an ephemeral but ardent affair.

That is, until the fruit of their love was ripe. The exiled prince left without a trace, and the infatuated pirate retired from a life of crime to take care of Drothmick. After all, this child was the future heir of a distant kingdom, and her key to a comfortable life. As he was brought up, Drothmick was told tales of the heroic rulers of Faerun and their accomplishments, so he too can one day live up to them. He was told of his father and how he was to seek this unknown, distant kingdom and claim what was rightfully his, just like his father. What his mother failed to mention was that he was also the son of a wanted pirate, and was quickly hushed when he asked why he was always sent to run the errands.

And thus, Drothmick grew thinking himself a king in the making, even when his mother was imprisoned for her past crimes. He was alone, but his fervent convictions gave him the strength to push forward and make a name for himself, and what better way to do it than with some heroics? However, he was rather lacking of funds to buy proper equipment, so he ended up taking odd jobs here and there around his hometown of Veltalar, until he landed a job at the local post office — a boring one, admittedly, but it would be that job that would help him track his biological father.

After going through some unclaimed mail, Drothmick found a couple of letters addressed to a man whose description matched the one from his mother’s tales. It must be the exiled prince! If he could find him in time, then all his problems would be solved and he could get his mother out of jail. But he will soon find that things would not go as he had planned…
