Description (Appearance): Can vary. Currently dark hair and brown eyes with angular Slavic features. Standing at about 5’9” and weighing in at 55 kilos.

Power:

Endopathy: Courier had the ability to commune with his own genetics giving him control over every iota of his body on a biomolecular level. This allowed him to heal his wounds, prevent infections, mask his X-Gene from detection among other things. He could even survive bullets to the head and regrow lost limbs. However, he doesn't grow cells back so fast, so he may simply rearrange his cells for the new limbs. This is why he is now 5-foot-nine when he used to be 6-foot-two.

His ability made him the perfect messenger. Unfortunately he is stuck and can’t use the ability at this time. It will partly return in the event he is severely injured / killed. But he doesn’t know that...

Healing: As noted above Courier can heal himself. If he loses biomass he ends up smaller.

Anatomical separation: A new power this will let Courier form a part of his biomass into another smaller human body as small as six inches tall. Anything smaller dies and is permanently lost. The new smaller body is fully autonomous with his sense of self. When the smaller biomass recombines with the larger biomass of Courier the larger biomass gains all the memories and knowledge the smaller biomass attained.

Personality: Courier doesn’t stand up for himself and is easily manipulated. Courier often resents the way his powers and job let others use him, but he's not strong enough to take a stand and change his fortunes. He isn’t heroic but pragmatic. He uses his talents for personal gain and is rather selfish. He is loyal to his few friends. Gambit being one that he has a love hate relationship with.

Special Skills and Other:

Acting: Courier is keen observer of people and a decent actor. He can imitate voices and mannerisms of those he has observed.

Martial Arts: Courier has learned a number of martial arts and is a competent combatant. His shapeshifting abilities help him augment his fighting prowess.

Firearms: Courier is an expert marksman.

Character History:

Courier started life as a petty criminal then turned to strong arming thug work. His healing allowed him take risks and move up in organised crime but then a FBI sting forced him to turn on his boss. His criminal records were expunged as part of the deal he made and since then he’s worked as a high end courier, able to get into and out of hot zones and dangerous situations.

In a trip with Gambit back in time to the late 19th Century, Jake pulled off a stunning use of power and morphed himself into a woman, "Jacqueline," in order to infiltrate Dr. Nathan Milbury's obstetrics clinic. Milbury was none other than Mister Sinister who, upon realizing that Jacqueline was not all she appeared to be, injected her with a compound that reverted Courier to a liquid state.

Courier was imprisoned in a bubble until Gambit agreed to give Mr. Sinister a piece of the human liquid in exchange for stabilizing his friend. Unfortunately, Gambit thought that Jake/Jackie would be able to kill the separated piece afterwards, as he had done before. Unfortunately, Sinister's stabilization of "Jackie" removed his mutant powers, and Sinister was able to co-opt the morphing capabilities of Courier's cells into his own, giving him the complete control over his cells that Gambit had seen so often in his own time. Even worse, Jake's lack of powers meant he was stuck in a woman's body!

After returning to the present day, Jake (now sometimes referred to as Jacqueline or Jackie) remained trapped in her feminine form. Although uncomfortable as a woman, she has adapted pretty well to her new circumstances, and continues in her role as a courier to people in power.

Unfortunately a recent news story outed her as a mutant and the unusualness of her loss of powers made her an ideal target for sleazy tabloids and bottom feeding paparazzi. This started to affect her business and, at Gambits suggestion, she decided to see what life is like in a mutant haven. As a consequence of the news coverage around her she is a minor celebrity which bothers her intensely
