Just some curiosities, I suppose (Age Rule-related)

Okay, look... I know we have had this conversation many times about pictures in roleplay and age. But we're having it again...

So, the age rule, as we know on Elliquiy:

QuoteAll sexual role playing and sexual storytelling must involve physically and mentally mature characters. They must be sixteen years of age or over, and/or the physical and mental equivalent. All character images must be of a person who is verified over 18 and deemed by staff to appear over 18, regardless of character age. This includes photos, drawings, and CGI images. Banned role playing and story subjects include lolicon, shotacon, or any other form of sexualizing prepubescent minors. Note, whatever the age of the characters, please take account of the rules governing images.

Question 1:

QuoteAll character images must be of a person who is verified over 18 and deemed by staff to appear over 18, regardless of character age.

This part. I know this is really nitpicky, but I am really interested if there is a reason that this is worded the way it is or if it just might be intended as interchangeable phrase. Why "over 18" as opposed to "18 or older?" It got me thinking that there could be a purpose to this, or if this is just to mean the same thing as "18 or older".

Question 2:

I know I have asked this one before, I think... a while back ago. But I want a refresher on this part:

What is more important for the sake of images? The age of the character being used (as a face claim for another character, for example) or the proportions of the character image in question? The way the rule is worded, my guess would be actual physical proportions?

The "Ayane and Yuffie Problem" is what I refer to characters that fall into this blur on whether their images would be allowed on Elliquiy or not.

Ayane is a character from the Dead or Alive fighting games. She is a fifteen year-old, purple-haired ninja in Dead or Alive 5... maybe older in Dead or Alive 6, for all I know. In real life (age-wise) this would be prime jailbait age. The confusing thing is that... in terms of her body and build, however (especially for what is supposed to be a Japanese teenager), she is quite physically developed with some very adult proportions. I mean, there are adult Japanese porn stars out there that don't have Ayane's bust size. ::)

Another teenager would be Yuffie Kisaragi from Final Fantasy VII-verse. In the original game, she would be 16. When compared to Ayane, her proportions may look much more like a girl her age (albeit, anime art being the cartoon can of worms that it is), so I would kinda get why her images could be a no-no. Unless these were older versions of her, either imagined or from games where she is actually older (If memory serves, she is like 19-20 or so in Dirge of Cerberus).

But that is kind of the confusing part for me. If I would stick a shot of adult Yuffie on a post, would it be treated as if I used vanilla 16-year-old Yuffie art from the main game?

I also forget which age she was in Advent Children, but that isn't all that important to this question. Even though it is bugging me enough to where I might actually go look it up. ::)

I am almost positive I have been through some of this before, so I am bookmarking this thread so I don't forget and ask again. ::)

First on the table: The picture of the character must always be 18 or older, no matter the body proportions. If it is a known or identifiable character that is 16 in the original anime or manga, you may try to find an aged up version to use as a face claim. The trouble comes in when someone uses a character aged 16, and the picture is also under 18, even if they are fully developed.

The main problem arises when someone uses an underdeveloped looking character with no (internet) proof of age.

I hope that helps.

She led me to safety in a forest of green, and showed my stale eyes some sights never seen.
She spins magic and moonlight in her meadows and streams, and seeks deep inside me,
and touches my dreams. - Harry Chapin

Additionally, even if a character is canonicaly over 18, but has the appearance of a child, the image is not permitted. For example: character X is a vampire and thousands of years old, but was turned as a child and retained that appearance their whole life. You cannot use an image of character X on site. If the artwork used does not appear to be over 18, it cannot be used.

However, as Oreo has said, if a character appears 18 or over, but canonically is under 18, it also cannot be used.
