Is there a way to get Chrome NOT to send you to Google every time you open up a new tab?

It's just a pet peeve.  I dislike software that try to dictate what I do.  Thanks.

Inkidu

There's a way to get it to start with specific pages every time you open the browser but not, as far as I've been able to ascertain, a certain page on opening a new tab.
If you're searching the lines for a point, well you've probably missed it; there was never anything there in the first place.

I use the Leoh new tab Chrome extension.  You can customize the new tab to do a lot of things - mine shows a pretty picture, a clock, the weather, etc.

It still gives you a link there to 'Search Google' but if you use the random images, the picture backgrounds are gorgeous.  It's one of my favorite extensions for Chrome.

YMMV.  :-)

I don't use it because I like the search I have, but this might work for you:

Blank new tab page
