Star Wars: The Keepers of Truth

"The Jedi and Sith are relics. There is only one truth, and only one Force."

The war between the Jedi and the Sith has raged among the stars for millenia, now. Each side has won its own share of battles but steadily the scales have tipped ever in the Jedi's favour. While sometimes they have been beaten back by the raw, uncontrolled fury of the Sith the other side's constant infighting and backstabbing has weakened them gradually. A particularly badly timed power struggle lead to the capture of the Sith Academy on Korriban, death of the Dark Lord of the Sith and casting aside of the entire order. The Jedi believed they were successful, but remained ever watchful.

Five years ago, far, far away in space a small ship descended on Ziost, a barren planet with a dark history. The pilot would investigate at length, exploring the secrets within this planet extensively and making a great deal of discoveries. Before long a new Order was raised on Ziost, carried upon the shoulders of the betrayed. He set out into the Galaxy with new found fury and expertise, gathering many others to his cause. After all, the annihilation of the Jedi could not be carried out by a lone warrior. No, the toppling of their corrupted regime would require a force to shake the stars. And it would begin with the greatest weapon in the Universe. Not a ship, or an army, but rather the force itself. He sought out the sensitive and adept, persuading them away before the Jedi could arrive. They suspected remnants of the Sith, refusing to acknowledge that one of their own could be to blame for this.

Over these last five years brutal, surgical strikes have been carried out by forces that appear to be Sith in nature and very organised. Yet the Jedi council repeatedly claims this is just the last spiteful remnants of the utterly defeated Sith attempting to attain their petty revenge. The real threat conceals itself, treading cautiously, not yet striking out firmly enough that it may attract more attention than it can possibly contend with as a fledgling. But they grow with each day, their cause being whispered in the darkest parts of the Galaxy bringing those who have become jaded with the Jedi's doctrine to a group who promises revenge, and a new Empire without Jedi or Sith.

Overview

This game will focus on a small group of rookie force sensitives, joining a new order under a powerful former Jedi. They will be tested, taught and then set about the destruction of the Jedi and Republic. The game will begin after they have all been brought to Ziost and received their most basic training. They have obtained their lightsabers and have some capability with the Force, but not expertise. Therefore these characters are a long way from heroes or villains. The group will likely be made up of 4-6 characters tops, and will be done on an application basis rather than first come first served. This is to best form a functional group with interesting dynamics.

The game will begin focusing on training and adapting to the life of the Saarai on Ziost, before evolving into the characters taking their role as a small unit of Saarai in a guerrilla warfare campaign against the Republic, Jedi and Sith Remnants with numerous combat missions taking place across the Galaxy at large. The plot will progress consistently with the Saarai Kaar having great plans for the a reformed Galaxy. This game will feature little to no smut as a plot point, players may take their characters to 1x1 threads for that kind of content so as to keep the game focused on story.

The Sightless Saarai-Kaar Culture & Philosophy

After the fall of the Sith and capture of most of their assets the remainder fled into hiding. Unknown to the Sith or Jedi a lone former Jedi began recruiting, seeking out the force sensitive. It wasn't long before Ziost was re purposed as a simple, brutal training facility. His recruits showed promise, and his own obsession with perfectionism was instilled in the Disciples. Over five years they have grown from a mere handful to a virtual army of more than four hundred force sensitive warriors and far more allies. He created his own code, his truth, taught to all recruits.  They were named the Sightless Saarai-Kaar, or Keepers of Truth although they are often collectively termed just the Saarai as Kaar is an honorary title.. For they did not see light or dark but only the Force.

"In the center of my great Passion I find Peace.
Alongside my great Strength, I command knowledge.
Alongside my Serenity, I command Power.
Alongside my Victory, I command Harmony.
While I am Sightless, I witness only Truth.
The Force cannot Lie."
-The Truth of the Saarai-Kaar

Saarai are expected to follow the tenets of honesty and truth at all times. Lying and deception are considered crimes of the highest order among the Saarai, along with betrayal of allies or the order itself. While the environment firmly encourages the survival of the fittest, allowing duels to the death between its members, it is a society of honor. A duel must be pre-arranged and a challenge offered, though it is seen as a show of great cowardice to refuse a duel with another Saarai. Likewise it is considered a sign of weakness to talk about others behind their back, or to retreat in battle. All recruits are indoctrinated into a warrior society with en emphasis on training and self-improvement at the sacrifice of all else. To need to backstab to gain power is considered a weak reminder of the collapsed Sith order, whilst following rules over passion is considered Jedi-like. Most days revolve around the study of the Force, warfare, various forms of combat including unusual weaponry and piloting skills. After studying comes hours upon hours of intensive physical training in which all ranks are forced to duel one another, showing Adherents humility while giving an opportunity to impress and forcing a steep learning curve.

The Rite of Ascension is a cornerstone of Saarai culture. Any Saarai may challenge a Saarai of higher rank to a duel. These duels are carried out in one of several simple arenas on Ziost. They are carved of sheer dark stone, with the base being a floor of black sand. Spectators watch from the edge of the arena. From edge to edge the circular arenas are sixty feet across, and contain nothing but the sand. Duelists may use lightsabers and the Force to the best of their ability. All duels are to the death, and are presided over by a Keeper unless a Keeper is challenged in which case the Grand Keeper observes. This Rite leads to a good deal of open honesty among the Saarai, with tricksters and backstabbers often paying the price and being slain by those they attempted to step on to ascend. It also means that all Saarai leaders are incredibly skilled in single combat.

A day in a Saarai's life typically involves awakening early, eating well on what little nutritious food can be farmed on Ziost and then setting about training. Exercise takes place either on the ice fields or within the great woods. The ice fields are harsh and unforgiving, with freezing yet dry air and treacherous slippery footing. Disciples often are forced to sprint on this ice and expected to get up and keep running if they fall no matter their injuries. Those who perform well are forced to carry heavy rocks, the momentum making falling inevitable. Almost all Saarai bear scars from these trials. In the woodland they regularly climb the vast trees in the pitch darkness, racing one another to the top. Once amidst the highest branches they are ordered to dash and leap between treetops, unharnessed and vulnerable to a fall hundreds of feet down.

Sparring often takes the form of brutal hand to hand combat, or practice with blunt barbaric weapons that inflict heavy bruising and severe flesh wounds to the trainees. On a bad day a Disciple may be forced to spar with Ascendants or Guardians for hours on end until they are bloodied and broken, unable to stand and swing any longer. Theoretical training includes studies of Sith and Jedi material, assessing and analysing its flaws whilst learning to fully grasp the truth of the Saarai. They are all trained as warriors of great knowledge as well as power, learning of all applications of the force and all styles of lightsaber combat.

Other forms of drilling include hunts, in which a Guardian and their team of Disciples and Ascendants will seek out the brutal and violent wildlife of Ziost to capture and kill for food and goods. Even for lightsaber armed force sensitives the creatures are immensely dangerous and death or crippling wounds are not uncommon on hunts. Failure to acquire kills regularly on hunts is seen as a sign of shame or cowardice, particularly if due to over cautiousness around the beasts. The Saarai also make extensive use of training in varied combat including piloting the few vehicles they have, forcing Disciples to attempt to sneak by Ascendants to test stealth and watchfulness on each's behalf. While they are not a common aspect of combat Saarai are trained with blasters and expected to be accurate shots. Despite the savagery of their training Saarai are never beaten or tortured as punishment. They are expected to be resilient to pain due to what they naturally suffer in training. Those who become aggressive to their trainers are usually seen as immature and mocked. On an average day a Saarai will be allowed eight hours sleep, expected to exercise at least 4 hours, study for 4 hours, duel and spar for 4 hours and run other drills for 2 hours leaving just two hours a day spare. There is no such thing as a day of rest in Saarai culture.

Ranks & Members of the Sightless Saarai-Kaar

Grand Keeper: There is a single Grand Keeper, Kaar Hask. He oversees all matters of the Sightless Saarai Kaar's large scale decision making and plotting. All recruitment, internal conflicts and maneuvering of the galactic campaign is carried out under his watchful eye. Unlike the Sith he despises treachery and backstabbing, and unlike the Jedi he discourages outdated codes and willful ignorance. Rather he encourages bravery and boldness in the Saarai, embracing their urges and the heart of the situation as well as the desire to expand and understand all aspects of the Force and morality. After instilling the Rite of Ascension ritualistic duels he has still yet to be challenged, with none daring to face him in single combat. All those he spars with talk of his aggression and precision strength. He is open and blunt with the Saarai, speaking of his past if asked and keeping no secrets.

Keeper: The Keepers are commanders, governors and councilmen. They each hold authority on the Saarai Council, and are the only Saarai to frequently deal with Kaar Hask. Saarai Keepers are not elected but rather earn their ranks, brought up by the Grand Keeper or else in a Rite of Ascension. The Keepers may be challenged for their title, but they will defend it to the death and any successful challenger must take on their full role. The Saarai who reach the rank of Lord forgo their former name, being granted or choosing their Kaar name as they accept their role and the dedication required fully. Due to the nature of the Rite of Ascension each Lord is a highly capable warrior as well as being an expert commander. They deal with much of the day to day matters, recruiting individuals and training groups of Disciples, Ascendants and being the ones to teach Guardians They each operate directly just as much as they teach, frequently leading from the front on important operations. Currently there are ten Keepers at any one time.

Guardian: A rank designed primarily as a field leader, taking small groups of Saarai into active combat and proving their bravery and control by leading from the front without fear or failure. Successful Guardians are expected to learn of the role of the Keepers, in preparation to attain the highest rank of the Saarai, whilst they continue to prove themselves in warfare. All Guardians are exceptional warriors who have proved they can listen to others and follow commands as well as the capacity to make their own choices. Off the battlefield they lead training and show the tenets of the Saarai to all recruits. They tend to be the first Saarai most Disciples meet and learn under. There are roughly thirty-fourty Guardians at the moment.

Ascendant: A single rank up from a Disciple an Ascendant is a capable warrior. They make up the bulk of the Saarai forces, with there currently being around two hundred and fifty Adepts. While they are many their combat-heavy approach to training means they have a high attrition rate. Adept is a rank which does not require a Rite of Ascension to attain, although any Disciple may challenge an Ascendant and Ascend immediately. Ordinarily Disciples Ascend once they have proved they can operate to a Guardians orders without fail. Ascendants are primarily foot soldiers and still in training, often working in tandem with Disciples to form mixed groups under a single Guardian. An Ascendant is given little command by their Guardian, and is expected to always be self-reliant on the  battlefield. If they cannot survive without the orders of their superior they will likely perish.

Disciple: A disciple is the role of a force-sensitive recruit to the Saarai. They are made up of those who come to the Saarai, or are sought out by force-sensitive Saarai. They are brought to Ziost and put through a brutal training regime. They learn of Saarai culture daily, immersing themselves in the study of warfare and the Dark Side of the Force. They physically train their bodies for strength, speed, agility and endurance. The life of an Disciple is hard and rough, with leadership showing no mercy and no tolerance for poor Discipes. As the lowest rank and Disciples may challenge anyone, and many cocky Disciples often meet their end in a duel attempting to foreshorten their training. While they are put through hell Disciples who show promise are rewarded with rapid ascendance. Disciples are given their lightsaber relatively early, as soon as they prove capable. In the field of battle Disciples are expected to be controlled and obedient, following their Guardian's commands perfectly and doing nothing more. Currently there are roughly one hundred Disciples in total.

Follower: A Follower is a non-force sensitive ally of the Saarai. They range from the civilians of Ziost who care for the Saarai's day to day needs such as farming and engineering work all the way to skilled but non-force sensitive assassins or warriors. As a group some Followers command a good deal of respect, but none may become Disciples. Despite the fact some see them as a lower caste this behaviour is discouraged and any Saaria seen disrespecting Followers will be viewed as a cowardly bully. Confidence and bravery is admired but picking a fight with the weak is scene as a fool's actions. Many Followers will form the backbone of larger Saarai forces when more large scale military operations occur, with the Grand Keeper firmly intending to recruit millions, then billions, to his cause in a Galaxy spanning crusade. While not truly trained like Disciples are all Saarai civilians are expected to uphold a certain level of honor in their life.

Game Rules

No Drama: Drama will not be tolerated out of character. In character interpersonal conflict is welcome with some amount of out of character discussion between players.
Writing Standards: A reasonable standard of spelling and grammar is expected. Use spell check. One liners aren't okay, most-all posts should be at least 2-3 paragraphs.
Communication: Communication is vital for the game to survive, particularly as I aim to create a small group. I need players who seek out scenes and things to do, make connections and develop/interact with one another.
Absence: Please PM me if you're going to be unavailable for a while.
Application Based: Character creation is not first come first served. I'll be approving based on what fits the story and setting, and as characters are approved what fits with the rest of the players. Looking for 4-6 characters of mixed genders. Please PM me character sheets or concepts.
Reading: Please read the information I provide on the game prior to asking questions. If I've failed to address something, or explained poorly, I'm happy to clarify or explain.
Strict Story Focus: This game is very story focused. There isn't going to be smut featured in the main game threads, but you're welcome to do as you wish with characters in 1x1's.

F.A.Q

Can I play a Jedi/Sith? Yes, with very specific requirements. Any fallen Jedi who join the Saarai must have only been Padawans to keep their experience in line with the other characters.

Can I play a non force sensitive such as an assassin or bounty hunter? Unfortunately not. This game is strictly focusing on a group of developing force sensitives.

When is this game set? 1482 BBY at game start.

How many characters can I have? Just one. Aiming to keep this game small and focused.

What Star Wars continuity is this game set in? The extended universe, now known as Star Wars Legends. Some aspects have been mixed and matched. Feel free to ask any questions I may not have addressed.

What category will this game be in/How dark/gory will it be? The game will feature a lot of physical violence, intensive training and physical hardships as it focuses on a warrior society. It may briefly touch on torture, drug use and other topics in the extreme category. As such it will be placed in the Extreme category. Having said that the majority of the game will not be excessively dark or gory, the category is just to account for the darkest points.

Ziost
Planet Name: Ziost
Region: Outer Rim Territories
Sector: Esstran Sector
System: Ziost System
Moons: 2
Grid Co-Ordinates: R-4

History: Ziost is the former secondary homeworld of the Sith species after the death of their leader Adas and capture of Korriban by the Jedi. Ziost itself was also conquered and the Dark Lord of the Sith slain. It was home to a vast network of temples and buildings Sith origin. After the Jedi defeated the Sith Ziost was captured and the majority of the Sith's surface temples and buildings were destroyed. Unfortunately the Force-locked lower regions were hidden from the Jedi and remained sealed away. The Jedi deemed the world a graveyard and did not guard it fully as it seemed uninhabitable.

When Hask landed after fleeing his imprisonment he landed on Ziost and set about fully exploring. His link to the dark side was distant at this time, but there was enough of a spark in him that ways opened that could not for the Jedi before him. He discovered vast archives of forbidden Sith knowledge, and rather than leaving in disgust he let that darkness into his mind. Hask's force of will was great enough that his desire for revenge still outweighed his hunger for personal power.

Hask set up a hidden base for his Saarai on Ziost and began  recruiting to his new cause. Soon enough Ziost had a basic training ground set up, completely hidden in ancient catacombs. From there over the past five years a significant base has been constructed, still operating entirely in secret. There are four hundred force-sensitives on Ziost and several thousand allies. It is only now that the Jedi have begun to accept what may be happening and create plans to investigate matters on Ziost.

Geography: Ziost's landscape is heavily made up of vast dark forests and large empty tundra. There is little of value or report on Ziost, and it is considered pointless to colonise. It is a harsh and tough environment with dry, icy air that makes spending time outside an uncomfortable experience. The forests are so dense and towering that it is easy to get lost in moments, while the tundras continue for thousands of miles with no landmarks in sight. Across the surface the only dwellings are the ancient Sith temples, now converted by Saarai. Most of the living spaces are underground beneath force-charged locks and disguises. A great deal of the planet is covered in vast ice fields due to the very low temperature.

Flora & Fauna: Ziost's flora primarily consists of titanic trees responsible for giving the planet a breathable atmosphere. This is expanded by the fact the forests they make up cover thousands of miles. Aside from that the large cave networks and darkness of the huge forests means fungi are commonplace and one of the few things possible to farm on Ziost. While many are highly toxic it is possible to sustain a healthy diet primarily consisting of the fungi. Ziost's fauna is a set of hardy, rough animals that have adapted to live in a rough environment through sheer stubborn refusal to die out. Most of the creatures require minimal food and water to survive, and are built for violence. In general they are large, aggressive and impossible to tame.

Society: The sole sentient inhabitants of Ziost are the Saarai under Hask. Much like the naturally occurring life they have been forced to learn to be as tough as the planet they live on. Even their civilians are taught to hunt, survive and forced to keep fit and strong to just keep existing. There is little mercy or pity on Ziost and the weak are expected to find strength or be cast aside. Those who are not warriors provide the basic living of the other inhabitants. Ziost is a society of equality. They care not for the nature of any individual but expect the same strength, honor and power from all. There are no races or genders considered above others, or below others, but this means the weaker must train all the harder to find the strength to live.

The Force & Lightsabers

The Force

All Saarai Disciples have a certain level of Force aptitude. Due to the hugely varying applications of the force and the strength of a Saarai growing over time I've attached a few numbers to the system. Disciples (Which all characters will start as) will have the ability to place a total of six points into either 'Control' 'Sense' and 'Alteration' categories of Force abilities, with a maximum of three and minimum of one in any single category. Control is the ability to detect the Force within themselves and use it to their advantage. Sense is the ability to to recognize the force in the wider universe.Alteration is a Force users ability to modify the Force and alter its energies. Disciples may know four of the following techniques: Force Speed, Force Stealth, Force Sight, Farseeing, Force Empathy, Mind Tricks, Force Leap, Force Pull/Push.) As they grow in experience they will gain and enhance their abilities.

1 - A faint connection, often also unpredictable and unrefined. A recruit.

3 - An amateurish ability, connected and regularly employable but still sloppy and prone to over or undershooting intentions. Equivalent to a practiced Padawan.
4
5 - A more controlled connection, considerably more consistent and predictable able to be used in complex fights and combat situations without fail. Equivalent to a Jedi Knight.
6
7 - An extremely honed usage, able to outperform the majority of Force users and the equivalent of an average Jedi Master.
8
9
10 - Utter mastery of the area of the Force, with few rivals in the Galaxy as a whole. On the level of Jedi grandmaster's specialties.

Lightsabers

Colour: Saarai lightsabers often end up varied colours depending on the specialty of the wielder. The crystals in all lightsabers are sensitive to the wielder's own nature physically, mentally and in relation to the Force. Lightsabers can change in colour over time if the nature of their wielder changes, slower or faster depending on how drastic the change is. The colours are:

Blue - Justice and Protection. Strong duelists with a close connection to the light side.

Green - Strong force users who prefer negotiation and meditation. Peace through Force.

Purple - Moral ambiguity. A connection to both the dark and light side. Those who use both sides of the Force with an aggressive style.

Red - A lust for power and a personal greed. Determination to become greatly strong, and exceed their competitors. A strong link to the Dark side.

Yellow - Focus and Determination. Used by those who focus wholly on the pursuit of specific goals outside of themselves. Often the selfless, those given over utterly to a cause.

Orange - Negotiation. Often used by those skilled in the way of mind tricks and telepathy, or otherwise persuading others through non-violent means.

Bronze - Physical Strength and power. Typically the crystals of incredibly physically strong lightsaber wielders.

Gold - The colour of incredibly powerful light-side force users. Extremely rare.

Style: Just as their colours vary wildly the design of the hilt and method of utilising a Lightsaber is highly versatile. Most styles of hilt govern the method of fighting with the blade to some extent.

Standard - An ordinary lightsaber. Perhaps not flashy or unusual, but prized for versatility. Can be dual-wielded. 1.3 m blade length.

Dual-Phase - An ordinary lightsaber with a unique combination of focusing crystals. With a simple switch the blade can extend from the standard 1.3m to up to 3m in length. This is excellent for surprise attacks and can be switched rapidly, but does make the weapon unwieldy in small environments as well as predictable.

Double-Bladed - A lightsaber with a significantly longer handle usually wielded in two hands and capable of emitting two 1.3m blades from each end. Hard to master and capable of delivering a series of rapid strikes in quick succession, more suited to aggressive styles than defensive ones.

Lightwhip - Highly unusual form of Lightsaber with a very long and flexible blade. Primary advantage is aggression, reach and the lack of most foes practice fighting whip wielders. Disadvantage is an inability to block effectively.

Long-Handle - With a standard length blade but a considerably longer handle this style of lightsaber affords great length and encourages a particularly fluid fighting style, letting small movements make wide sweeps with the blade. The long handle is vulnerable to being struck, and can be broken to destroy the saber.

Pike - An extremely long handled lightsaber with a short blade a lightsaber pike more closely resembles a spear than a sword. It is highly specialised and aims to combat at a distance, providing a poking and defensive style that can fall apart up close.

Crossguard - A crossguard lightsaber features two smaller blades alongside the standard 1.3m primary blade. These smaller blades may be angled or straight, and there is sometimes just one. They are highly effective for parries, or when locked in a lightsaber clash. They require a specific fighting style and pose a slight risk to the user as the blade is so close to them, making fluid and acrobatic styles risky.

Curved-Hilt - Also known as a dueling saber a curved-hilt saber's handle features a sharp curve at the top to match the hand of the wielder. It allows a particularly elegant and precise style of fighting ideal for duels. Unfortunately the style of the hilt favours duels over deflecting blaster fire, making long distance fighting a challenge.

Shoto - A miniature lightsaber designed for more diminutive races, they can also be used as an offhand weapon by those with a dual-handed fighting style. They favour rapid movements but sacrifice reach and power for agility and precision.

Club - A lightclub or greatsaber is a weapon designed for the larger races who become lightsaber wielders. To wield it with an ordinary stature requires immense strength and specific training. They have blades up to 3 metres in length and long handles. They can strike with vast force but lack elegance and speed.

Fighting Style: Due to training hybridised between Jedi and Sith methods the Saarai do not entirely conform to any traditional sense of lightsaber fighting, each finding their own style and learning to better themselves while taking on aspects of those around them. A fighting style is typically heavily influenced by the nature of a character's strengths with the force as well as their chosen style of lightsaber, and their physical prowess. Are they aggressive or offensive? Focused on strength or speed? Grounded or acrobatic? How do they implement the force into their fighting, and do they prefer to combat blaster armed foes or duel lightsaber wielders.

NPC Kaar Hask:

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide

Character Name: Kaar Hask, Formerly Serelis Crozarra, Nicknamed 'The Blind Demon'
Gender: Male
Race: Human, Born on Aenda T54
Age: 64
Height: 6'6"
Weight: 260lbs, 370lbs in armour

Physical Description: Kaar Hask is a tall, imposing figure usually clad in a set of ornate black and white robes and grey armour. The robes are elegant, and something he discovered within the Sith temples on Ziost. The armour itself he took from a bounty hunter after slaying them. It is forged of a Mandalorian Iron alloy. It is highly resilient to lightsaber blows and other physical damage. The plates over the face conceal Hask's eyes entirely, but as he has revealed to his Saarai he is blind anyway.

Beneath the armour Hask is disturbing to behold. Where his eyes should be is a deep burnt scar, the mark of a lightsaber blow to the head that blinded him. It cut horizontally and removed the bridge of his nose too. He has no sense of sight at all. While he is not young the Force keeps him strong and powerful, and he is extremely muscular and well built. Hask trains without armour in general, not allowing it to let him grow sloppy as he rarely needs to block. He typically wears a simple cloth blindfold to conceal his scarring, but when looking using his Force Sense there is a deep purple glow from behind the blindfold.

Personality, History & Flaws

Personality: Hask is the embodiment of the code he created for the Saarai. He is greatly passionate about his cause, and his Saarai, but also cool and controlled at almost all times. He possesses incredible strength but hones it with a vast well of knowledge of both Jedi and Sith. He channels his strength while keeping serene and precise, affording him vast power. He has won a great many victories both during his long career as a Jedi and his time as the Grand Keeper of the Saarai Kaar. And of course he is focused on honor and truth above all else, believing the teachings of the Jedi and Sith to be a mess of misunderstandings and purposeful lies. Hask is a confident public speaker who is a natural at persuading others to his cause.

He is encouraging and positive towards Saarai who uphold honor and bravery, commending and praising them and offering rewards of promotions and teachings. On the other hand any who display signs of treachery or cowardice are admonished, given only a few chances before being expelled from the Saarai. He is outspoken and clear, a confident head of the Saarai who spends much of his time sparring and training with his growing forces. Any who wish to speak with him will find him easy to contact, though he is impatient if the interaction is deemed a waste of his valuable time. Those who seek knowledge and have proven to be truthful will be rewarded well by his knowledge.

His bravery cannot be called into question as from the inception of the Saarai he has led from the forefront in matters of recruitment or battling the remnants of the Sith. He instituted the Saarai's incredibly brutal training regime believing it to be both necessary to have a chance at combating the Jedi and the only way to find inner truth. While he encourages a brutal environment on Ziost he does not support idle bullies. Any Saarai found disrespecting civilians will swiftly witness him enraged. Likewise any Saarai found dissenting, or complaining at the rugged and tough life they are forced into will have to debate the matter with him personally.

History: Born on the industrial planet Aenda T54 Serelis Crozarra fit well into the simplistic society. Most lived the lives of highly dedicated miners, boring away eternally at the planets rich mineral deposits. The air was thick and uncomfortable with heavy smog, and the weather was plagued by ash clouds and acid rain. Most youths were poorly educated and focused on getting them to work at a young age, a mistreatment overlooked by the Republic due to the wealth the planet brought in. Serelis was strong even from a young age, and found a relaxation in his hardships. He grew used to the pains and aches well, never complaining despite doing the work of several men.

In his mid teenage years Serelis encountered the Jedi. They had sensed a powerful Force sensitive and believed it to be him. After explanation and instruction Serelis managed to connect to the Force, lifting a rock from the ground at will. He was soon whisked from his simple life far away to the Jedi temple on Coruscant. It didn't take long for it to become apparent that the hardy near-savage Serelis fit in poorly with his surroundings. He was surprised at how gentle he perceived this life to be, and how uptight and blindly obedient all around him were. Non the less he enjoyed the idea of becoming a hero and warrior, and took to his training with focus and determination. His raw power was notable even from a young age, with several masters noting that his aptitude for the destructive side of the Force needed careful watch.

He gained more control through fighting and training, self imposing particularly rough and painful regimes that forced him to find serenity in battle. As a Padawan he operated only a handful of times, showing himself to have such maturity and power that he advanced to a Knight particularly quickly. He then served the Jedi loyally for many years proving to be utterly fearless in all situations. Even when the odds looked inevitable his charges and skill with a saber repeatedly found success. He favoured a yellow bladed dual-phase Saber that showed his willingness to wholly dedicate to the Jedi cause. At this point his skill at duelling was not near as impressive as it would become, but he was renowned for his extreme aggression and capacity to find unique ways to employ the dual-phase nature of his saber.

Some on the council were concerned for the aggressiveness of his style and his gifts for more destructive Force abilities. As a knight he was encouraged to restrain himself further, burying the aggression and utilising the Force minimally. This frustrated him but he obeyed, showing impressive self control he was granted the rank of master and a seat on the council in his early 30's. From there he began training others, becoming known as one of the more intensive instructors he did not force others through the severity of his own training. At this point he was a considerable field leader for the Jedi, and most notably he developed a specific style of combating Sith lords. Where the Sith were ordinarily the aggressors he matched them point for point in that aspect of duelling, overcoming them via the moment of surprise his dual-phase afforded or by implementing a sudden Force Quake to knock them off balance mid duel. This style was a concern for other council members, but as he only employed it when duelling Sith and found great success they accepted it.

Over the next decades Serelis became a well respected figure, even a hero. He slew a Sith Lord and their apprentice in single combat, spearheaded many Republic assaults into Sith territory and even took secondary command to the Jedi Grand Master over the assault on Korriban. It was deep within the walls of that dark temple that Master and Grandmaster stood against the Dark Lord of the Sith, two lords and many of their men. They fought well and hard, but inevitably they both became wounded. The Grandmaster having his legs broken and Serelis being blinded by a lightsaber strike. In a fit of rage and momentary real break of control Serelis stamped his foot down. The resulting wave of Force spurred by decades of restraint rocked the temple to the core. Heavy carved rock crashed from the ceiling but that was little matter as the Quake itself had utterly destroyed the surrounding foes, dashing them to the walls and shattering them. Serelis barely made it from the temple alive, dragging the unconscious grandmaster before collapsing just outside the exit.

While he considered it a moment of pride and power it was looked on as deeply dangerous. After several hearings Serelis's refusal to repent for what he did, and insistence he would do it again to save the Grand Master he was sentenced to imprisonment. Ordinarily he may have been exiled but his aggression and time on korriban meant they considered him likely to become a Sith if let free. In what he saw as the ultimate betrayal the Jedi wiped the records of Serelis. His training, his heroism and those he taught were lost utterly. Each of his deeds divided between other masters and history re-written. Even his saving of the Grand Master was expunged. Soon Serelis was known only by word of mouth, and a series of Jedi Mind Tricks wiped him from a memory to a rumour. In his cell Serelis pondered his situation, taking years to develop his Force Sense until his sight was not just restored but improved.

Meditating inwardly for days on end he prepared his escape. Walking to the wall of the cell he stamped down his foot, cracking the near impenetrable wall with a Force Strike so vastly powerful it not only tore apart the cell but the entire wing of the high security prison. In the carnage he dashed free, easily overwhelming the guards with just the Force and taking one of their pikes. Due to the Jedi clearing up the Sith there was little resistance on the path to the Temple, and he broke in to retrieve his Saber. He mostly utilised his immense force pushes to dash aside Jedi, not wishing to shed more blood than he had to yet. When he had hold of his old weapon he was forced into a duel with a former fellow council member. This old friend calling him a traitor drove him into a rage, and he ended up murdering them by severing a Shatterpoint he now perceived through his Force Sense. He took on their saber, a curved hilt blue blade, and fled into the stars after stealing a ship.

Out in the vastness of the Galaxy it was easy to decide on a destination. If the Jedi could not be trusted to be truthful to him in other matters he could no longer trust their appraisal of the Force. Korriban was too well guarded so instead Serelis went to Ziost. The inhospitable planet revealed to him great Sith temples beneath the ground, with archives the Jedi's pure light could not access. Soon he discovered his old friend's blue blade had turned a purple hue when he wielded it. Serelis began to study the Sith's knowledge and absorb it, adapting it with his own Jedi knowledge and electing to support a third path. He named himself Grand Keeper of the Truth, incorporating Sith words and Galactic Basic to name his new force the 'Sightless Saarai-Kaar' or just the Saarai collectively.

He then began recruitment and training, seeking Force Sensitives whether untrained, former Jedi or former Sith his underground cause grew. In five years he gathered four hundred Force sensitives and many other followers, setting up brutal training regimes in preparation for his vengeance. He is now the head of the Saarai and believes himself to finally be prepared to take the next step, assaulting Korriban and retaking the Sith temple there to acquire more knowledge and artefacts, as well as a greater base from which to train.

Flaws:

Aggressive Combatant: Hasks's combative style is almost ridiculously aggressive. While he trains without armour to force himself not to grow lazy he is still happy to take severe injuries to win fights. While so far he has suffered heal-able flesh wounds it was this style that cost him his sight. A foe who focuses on defense will never get a good chance to hurt Hask, but one who can return some aggression may wound him severely on sheer luck even if they are less skilled. Unfortunately few are bold enough to accept their own likely death or extreme injuries by not blocking Hask's own assault.

Jedi Hate: Hask's entire cause is born of his hate for the Jedi. While he is not without his reasoning and firm belief that what he is doing is an act of necessary violence he can become manic in his focus on the hate he feels. He teaches Jedi ways as they have value but if any Saarai attempt to argue in favour of Jedi policy or actions he will become highly aggressive. Several times before he has dueled Saarai over similar claims, and all times they have been slain. In battle he can lose his focus on the larger picture if given a chance to kill Jedi.

The Force

Kaar Hask's usage of the force is unique in that it is constant by necessity. To cease his connection is to lose his perception of the world around him. Hask's natural aptitude coupled with endless usage have made his Force Sight surpass that of even Miraluka who were blind and only saw through the Force. Rather than merely replacing ordinary sight Hask's force sight goes far beyond that. He can gaze through solid objects, perceive living beings regardless of disguise, camouflage or even invisibility. To hide from him a being would have to not only hide from the Force, but feign what should be present in their place. Hask can also witness emotions, sensing what drove an individual and powered their link to the Force. Through his force sense Hask can witness Shatterpoints, lines within the Force that can be cut to cause inevitable destruction to any being or object. They only appear for microseconds and explain Hask's aggressive style.

Aside from that Hask is versatile but highly specialised in the most aggressive and destructive aspects of the Force. His unique method of employing the Force is something he describes as a 'Force Quake', a violent stomp that ripples a wave of Force through the surrounding ground and causes tremors akin to a high magnitude earthquake in a localised area. His greatest feats include unleashing a vast Force Quake that killed The Dark Lord of the Sith, two Sith Lords and a great number of their men, and unleashing another Force Quake so powerful it shattered the thought to be indestructible walls of a prison for Force users. That blast was so strong it shook the entire prison, causing an earthquake. Now on Ziost many Saarai know he is training when the ground itself rumbles. His Force Pushes and Pulls are rumoured to break the bones of the target before they even land. His largest blindspot is by far his mind tricks, which are almost amateurish by comparison.

While a very capable force user Hask is often restrained in employing it, favouring saber combat so long as it is viable. He will usually employ the force to make cowardly foes face him in a duel, or to defeat weak foes he sees as beneath him. If truly challenged by a particularly strong force user Hask will aim to use his vast Force Repulses to disorientate them and draw them to resorting to saber combat. He typically uses stasis, pulls, chokes, plagues and bindings to draw others into a close quarters situation.

Fighting Style: Hask's fighting style is unique and terrifying to behold for most duelists. He wields two sabers in unison using the impossibly fast reactions granted by his Force Sight and Speed to blitz his foes. Against even gifted duelists it feels to him as they they are moving painfully slowly. His style is best described as a flurry or rush, beginning with an immediate and relentless assault. He feigns little and guards even less, forcing his opponent to focus so thoroughly on protecting themselves that they have no time to swing at him. In general Hask remains as close to his opponent as possible and is capable of great acrobatic feats despite his bulk and armour if they are necessary but he prefers to simply fight on two feet and up close.

With the purple saber he has an elegant style, keeping it trained on his foe's weapon and aiming to disarm them or force them into a never-ending cycle of parries in self defense. The motion is fluid and so fast as to appear predictive. If a foe ever missteps their guard Hask will aim to severe their hand or break the handle of their Saber. The Yellow saber is used as an offensive tool too, but aimed at the foe's center mass rather than their own weapon. Many duels with Hask are ended early by a well timed activation of the dual-phase spearing his foe's chest, often to their shock. He does not lengthen the blade for anything but the kill shot unless he has no choice. In his case however the killshot can include a strike at a shatter point.

Provisionally interested, but I would like to know what rating/classification section you're planning to put this in.

Chucking it in Extreme solely due to the presence of gore. Nothing to do with sexual aspects but things like violence and dark situations.

Posting interest. I'm thinking of a Zeltron dual wielder. I'll be working on making up a sheet over the next few days.

Awesome. Feel free to pitch just basic concepts to me before writing up a whole sheet, if you like.

RegretNot

I am interested in this, pondering a concept that was a failed padawan for his lack of control of his own emotions influencing his actions.  Siding with the downtrodden rebels when called in with master for mediation in a planetary conflict leading to civil war.  Would that fit the setting for him to be recruited when he is tossed out?

I can see all that making sense and fitting. I see this Jedi order as particularly large and powerful, and willing to cut loose any Jedi who cannot be trusted.

The line does need to be trod that anything that he did wasn't drastic enough to justify the Jedi imprisoning him over it, so no drastic displays of a dangerous link to the dark side or anything. As a Padawan that should be fine anyway, he wouldn't be strong or knowledgeable enough to do anything too crazy.

As for recruitment I'd say after 5 years it's possible he's heard whispers about the Saarai and could either have sought them out or been found as the Saarai definitely look out for rejected Jedi.

So here's what I have so far. Let me know what you think and if i should clarify/change anything.

Morro
Character Name: Morro
Gender: Male
Race: Zeltron
Age: 19
Height: 6'
Weight: 145

Physical Description: Morro is a tall, lithe Zeltron male. He has a vivd shade of pink skin tone, brilliantly lavender eyes and a usually well taken care of head of short blue hair.

What do they look like? Do they differ from the artwork found? If an alien may need more detail. How do they dress and carry themselves?

Personality, History & Flaws

Personality: Morro is an in the moment kind of guy. He tries to enjoy as much of life as he can. The trials in his life have not caused him to lose his optimistic exuberance. He is friendly and kind to those he comes across. He joined the Saarai to become the best swordsman he can be, and to unlock his potential so he can do good where he can. The training was more difficult than he had anticipated, but he liked the challenge and threw himself into his physical training. The knowledge half of his training is so far being slightly neglected. He does his best, but sometimes he cant help but sneak away and train with his sabers.

The training he's received so far has made him more assured in his mindset. While he still looks for approval from those around him, He does so slightly less.

History: Morro was kidnapped from his family on Zeltros at the age of 6 by a Sith order trying to rebuild their numbers. He trained with them for nearly 7 hard years. While there he was taught the foundations of the dark side, and a deep lesson to embrace the powerful emotions of his people. He was 13 when the Jedi raided the base where he was being trained. He was saved.

He found life at the Jedi Temple to be boring. The emotional state of the people living there were shockingly bland. He was used to the fiery passions of the sith. The Jedi were downright dull to the teenage boy. He paid little attention to the studies they assigned him. He liked the ideas of compassion and selflessness, but the self denial and need for complete control lost the boy.

And as he turned into a man, at the age of 18, he decided to leave the order. He never truly felt like he belonged there, and he doubted they were sad to see him go. He was a near constant nuisance to them. Getting into places he shouldn’t, pulling playful pranks on other padawans and sometimes masters. All he wanted was some excitement and fun. The only time he truly enjoyed himself were in sparring matches and training exercises

After he left the Order he wandered for many months before being approached by a member of The Sightless Saarai-Kaar. They saw him dispatch a pair of well armed muggers who accosted him and offered him a chance to join them. He accepted, He saw it as an opportunity to hone his skill and effectiveness with the force and lighters without the stifling rules of the Jedi.

Flaws:

Alter Inept: While his training with the force has gone for the most part smoothly, he has extreme difficulty projecting the force to manipulate objects bigger than the parts to his lightsaber.

Books Bore Me: He has a difficult time paying attention or learning if he either has to sit still, or it's not about something that already interests him. He believes that if something is worth learning you can learn it from somewhere thats not a book.

Control: 3
Sense: 2
Alteration: 1
Techniques Learnt:  Force Speed, Force Stealth, Force Sight, Force Leap

Style: Two Curved Hilt Sabers
Fighting Style: He fights with an aggressive and deft fighting style. He utilizes the force to help him move faster and strike swiftly. He is nearly always moving, trying to keep his opponents off balance and unsure of where he will be. This fighting style however leave him vulnerable to ranged attackers if he can't quickly close the distance, and he can only keep it up for so long before he becomes taxed.

Could you send this to me via PM? Thanks.

Tentatively interested, I had a couple characters from a recently abandoned Star Wars game, I think I could rework one of them for this game.

I'll play either a Chiss or a Miraluka acolyte, the Miraluka would be ex-Jedi, but the Chiss would probably come directly from her homeworld.

You sitll looking? I have my own version of this story on a one on one and the concept fascinates me!

I'll say I'm primarily looking for rookies rather than ex-jedi but either would be welcome.

Throwing my hat in for interest - I won't be able to make a character until tomorrow night though after work.

Was going to do it tonight but then my net got stupid and it only popped just now.

In general just so everyone's on the same page I'm probably going to wait at least a week before approving anything. That way I can see a decent variety of concepts. If you want to make sure yours is fairly unique from the others pitched PM me the idea and I can let you know.

Just to add to this so far got a lot of ex-Jedi and/or ex-Sith. Really now looking for others. Can still have a military background from Republic footsoldier, Sith footsoldier who didn't know they were Force Sensitive or a bounty hunter. Or a member of any other race or group's armed forces.

Totoro

I've sent everyone who's given me a character sheet so far a quick PM. If you don't have one but should do then I've missed you and I'm sorry, PM me and I can sort it out.

Overall though I'd be happy to take 1-2 more concepts than I have right now as far as I know. So feel free to PM me if you've not stated interest or given a CS yet, there is room for a couple more.

Character thread's up now so you can check out the other approved characters. Try to bring something different to the table. Only thing I'm against at the moment is more with Jedi experience.

Also you might not be the chosen one.
