With the waste topic clearly taken care of I have another question. Can I play one of the monsters? I'm not saying that I will, but I'd like to know if it's an option.

I'm in the contingent of prospective players who don't want to address waste in any capacity, or as little as possible. There will still be plenty of survival considerations to roleplay without the uncomfortable hassle of waste disposal.

I think off screen is best, it looks like its a subject no-one wants to have as RP content so my vote is we just effectively ignore it (the "hand-wavey" method of GMing) and move forwards with more interesting stuff!

I'm happy for our characters to put some effort into digging latrines and finding a plant to use as toilet paper, but that's all of the discussion of human waste I'm willing to tolerate.

The kind of character I'm currently leaning towards the most is an ambitious guy. The kind who will try to turn his fears into opportunities. Would that be alright?

I'm not entirely sure what you mean by that but it doesn't sound like anything that would be unacceptable.

As long as we're throwing ideas around, you've indicated that we can play just about any kind of character as long as they equate to a typical, naked human being. However, is there anything or anyone you are hoping to be on the island? For instance, are you hoping for characters with medical skills, or combat training. I guess I'm asking, as you anticipate character sheets coming in, are there some things you hope to see?

I have a bit of a preference for most characters to be human but other than that I just want to see interesting characters.

I will be posting the character page tomorrow once I have free time, it may be later in the day since I'm going to be busy for much of the day.

That was an excellent question Amanda. I feel kinda silly because I was wondering similar things but for some reason it didn't occur to me to just ask... :/ what an idiot I am.

Anyway, looking forward to seeing all the characters people will come up with. And you're doing a great job rousing curiosity. I'm already thinking about what it could mean for our characters to all be there at the same time, from different worlds, times, and without knowledge of how we got there. Monsters aside, I think I'm going to have a blast looking into these things.

Just to be clear, our characters aren't suffering amnesia or anything right? And will languages be an issue are we treating English as the main language of all worlds and throughout all ages? I mean, we were wondering about waste earlier, so why not cover this as well?

You will have memories of your life, but you won't know how you got to the island, and you'll have to meet someone who speaks a different language to see if you can understand them...

I understand that you're joking, but I'm really not, I'm honestly worried that I've accidentally created too much hype and that the game won't be able to live up to it. This is my first time running a game, I'm going to make mistakes.

I don't think that the character you proposed would fit very well into the game, but not too an extent that she would be unacceptable. When I allowed scifi and fantasy origins I was meaning for it to allow characters from fictional culture rather than all from the earth. I didn't plan on having more than one or two non human characters mixed in with the humans, like an elf for the shallow end of non human or an orc for the extreme end, but these were not meant as hard limits just what I was expecting and hoping for. Your character idea doesn't break any rules, and is so far acceptable.

The character thread says 87 points to distribute while earlier you said 77. Can you clarify which it is please? 87 points to me would make for some very skilled/athletic characters and not really average people, it seems.

Hm, I think I may have to look into this, seems like this could be a fun little game.

I apologize if some of this was asked already, but it seems like working against other characters to further our own interests is allowed (and possibly encouraged)?  If so, I might make a sort of villain character, she's trapped on the island with everyone else but she's far more interested in doing things for herself instead of helping the group, and has no issues with tying up someone else and leaving them out for the island's monsters.  (Naturally, I'd expect her to end up getting some comeuppance eventually as well, eventually)

Yes working against other players is allowed, but it is neither encouraged nor discouraged, but I wouldn't want to see it happen without a reason, but in a desperate situated it is very easy to find a reason.
