Lustful Bride

More scandals surrounding dead Russian journalists, who went to Africa following Russian mercenaries.

Lustful Bride

Alt Right and Antifa protesters dispersed by Riot police.

I have to say I think that this could have gone a lot worse. The police have to come in and show they are still in control. The rule of law must be strong.

Russia detains 60 LGBT rights activists for violating law against "gay propaganda" i.e. anything that says LGBT folks should be treated like human beings, and a ban on the rally which seems like a common thing in Russia sadly.

https://www.timesofisrael.com/thousands-march-in-largest-ever-jerusalem-pride-parade-under-heavy-security/

Meanwhile Jerusalem's largest pride parade ever (20,000+ people) gets police protections due in part to current political tensions (Israel passed a law that restricted gay couple's parenting rights recently - it led to huge protests and strikes - an enabled homophobic factions who counter protested the marches). Jerusalem pride is a fraction of the size of Tel Aviv's which had over a quarter million people in attendance this year, Jerusalem being a much more conservative city. I'm not sure why Jerusalem Pride is in August.

Someone attempted to assassinate Venezuela's President with explosives-laden drones.

Even more so, this was attempted when he was giving a live speech.

Huge protests in Bangladesh asking for more safety on the roads, violent government response.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/aug/05/bangladesh-pm-urges-teen-protesters-to-go-home-amid-violence

Government has apparently admitted to shutting and slowing down internet to keep students from organizing. Government has been accused of arming the pro-government students with riot gear and sending in squads of violent thugs that have gouged at least one person's eyes out and committed multiple rapes. Hospital reports treating over a hundred wounds of people consistent with rubber bullets, the government denies using them.

At least 20 journalists were attacked for trying to cover what was happening.

A summary article, a lot of very disturbing and violent images/video.

I can't edit so I will clarify, a resident Russian has informed me that the law specifically outlaws anything that makes homosexuality seem normal in front of children (so anywhere public).

Facebook, iTunes and Spotify drop InfoWars

Some of this makes it seem like it was only certain episodes, or a temporary ban in the case of Facebook. Is it permanent? I can't seem to find anything that actually says so conclusively other than for YouTube.

Woman claims she's been dating fifteen ghosts and says she and her current spirited buddy are now planning for her to give birth to a ghost  kid.  :D Also, she opines that "ghost pregnancies" of this kind have always existed, they're just not recognized.

Okay, I have something from over here which I don't have an English-language link for... Still, I'll share, because it really made me jaw drop. It's a small-scale news, regarding one person's experience, but..!

Basically, a pregnant woman (with a difficult pregnancy) wasn't feeling too well. She went to a doctor at a local clinic (public health service, of course), the doctor decided to do an ultrasound of her baby. He did the examination, then turned to the woman and proclaimed:

"Your baby is dead".

Then, he smiled and added:

"... joking! Ha ha!"

Then, he explained the baby's is fine, gave the proper advice etc.

I mean... I don't have words. How *stupid*, how unempathic must a doctor be to make such a joke during an examination???

Have you guys heard of something like that...???

Women can get a lot of shit from male health providers. It's one of the reasons many of us are particular about consulting with female doctors.

In other news, the first female Gurkhas are coming to the British army. This is going to be badassery squared.

I honestly don't understand why male doctors could behave in that way... :\

So, the Gurkhas are still in existence? How does that work, exactly - there's some sort of deal between the British and Nepalese governments that allow people from Nepal to join British Army?

Post-Indian independence, several Gurkha regiments were transferred to the British Army (while others joined the Indian Army or went on to form the Singapore Gurkha Contingent and the Brunei Gurkha Reserve Unit). There are enough Gurkhas living in Britain to keep the local units going, although the way their settlement rights were treated was a disgrace.

Er, no, why should it be? The British regiments don't need to import much of their membership. There are second-gen, even a few third-gen Gurkhas in the UK. One of their units is actually stationed in my town.

Oh. Wait. I get it. They're joining the British army. :)

But they also recruit from the British population is that what you're saying? :)

That's kinda nifty. I didn't know that! :)
