Understood.  I am expecting this to be a learning experience for her.  She may start out that way, but she'll catch on quickly enough.  She's excessively sheltered, but she's smart.

At least, that's how I figure it'll work.  We'll see!

Assuming that I was right about the edition, I've got a Scorpion girl in the works that will hopefully meet with approval. Was going to go Soshi, but now I'm going Bayushi. Assuming I can get this stuff finished asap!

Reiko might get on well with Takahiro then. He's kind of naive too but he means well. :)

Latooni: I think it's 4th ed.

For the sake of Dangerous Beauty: My scorpion lady is taking the Large advantage, and pulls the usual 'dressing in male bushi outfits, strong features, flirting outrageously with other women and geisha' trope. Can my Dangerous Beauty be for females, rather than the opposite sex?

*chuckles*

I always read merits like that too apply to anyone attracted to your gender.  ^_^;;

She sounds exciting.  and it's great to see you in a game again, Latooni.

Kyou is going to be very happy with his companions.  :)  Even if one of them doesn't seem likely to be interested in him, she still sounds like good company.

(And reminds of me of Brigitte Silverbow...)

@Latooni: Is she wearing a scorpion traditional mask? I won't apply the advantage to -all- woman, since not all women have lesbian/bi tendencies, but i'll apply it to some

This is the 24 hour mark to the end of the application deadline, 24 hours from this post, no more application will be accepted and a team will be selected.

Shameless Ripoff Go!

You tell me, godfang. That's CLEARLY her when she's dropped the "I'm a pretty guy" disguise, and using those low skills to her advantage, like Temptation. I should be done within an hour or so, depending on writer's block, at least for all the fluff. Stupid rental car pickup took me forever, and messed up my flow.

Here's the fluffy stuff! I'll finish up the crunch asap, assuming it's all okay.

Name: Bayushi Kuniho
Clan: Scorpion
School: Bayushi Bushi School
Age: 22
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 170
Build: Moderately muscular, with some pleasant curves hidden away.

Spoiler: Click to Show/Hide

Description: Kuniho, at first glance, is a somewhat masculine and extremely tall person. Clad in red garb designed for males with a wide mask to cover most of her features, it's really only her extremely long black hair, delicate lashes, and the faint hints of curves wrapped beneath her clothing that suggests her true gender. Not that she necessarily hides it, however, she simply finds that it's more fun to use her unusual height to dress like a man, and flirt with all the pretty geisha and peasant girls she comes across! Underneath her mask she actually has an old burn scar across the bridge of her nose and wrapping around her left eye, a mark she claims is a blessing from the fire kami that her passion has attracted the attention of . . or any number of wild and dramatic stories she tells. She is a fun-loving, and not particularly proud woman, prefering drink and good company to an honorable duel or courtly debate.

This, of course, is all flimflam. Underneath it all, Kuniho is a beautiful and curvacious woman with a sharp tongue and even sharper mind. She utilizes her acting and disguise skills to play the fool so that her true skill with both wordplay and steel is never suspected. She is a brilliant and ambitious woman, utterly devoted to her clan and their ideals for improving the empire. Whether it be through lies, steel, or sex, she will do whatever it takes to succeed in her mission. Well, when she's not enjoying a drink and a game of dice . . .

Backstory: Kuniho is an odd one, born in an odd way. Her pregnant mother was trapped in a burning building, with Kuniho being the only survivor once she was cut free from her mother's body after they doused the flame, the child partially burned across her face. Such a burn however was not truly a horrendous scar, but an auspicious mark, showing that the child was blessed by the kami and granted their grace. Growing up she proved to be a girl of great intelligence and passion, struggling to control her emotions and firey temperature despite being truly gifted in many things that she put her mind to.

Her Gempuku involved disguising herself as a man in order to secret away some . . . incriminating information about a minor lord, and Kuniho managed to succeed with ease . . albeit at the cost of developing a taste for her play acting. While not a member of the Shosuro Acting Troupe she's still quite talented, and has made it a habit to play as being a man while out and about and encouraging her 'fool' persona, and saving her femininity as a powerful weapon in reserve. Besides, who else can say that they seduced both a nobleman AND his wife, simultaniously? Since then her 'fool' persona has been encouraged, allowing her to wander freely and ensure that the overconfident samurai of other clans tended to see her as no more than a blundering idiot . . even as her popularity with the peasants skyrocketed from her looking out for their best interests and protecting them from bandits and ronin, the Scorpion clan eager to avoid another peasant uprising. With their stores of Opium and poppy fields damaged due to the Opium War, certain Scorpions like Kuniho have expressed . . . interest in this new rising family of Butterflies, prompting Kuniho to look into things. Starting with the geisha, of course.

Ok, while i have no problem with the way Kuniho's appeal is described, i do have a problem with it mechanically. The dangerous beauty advantage is meant to be a situational ability that only applies to specific genders, the way you're playing it off however makes it so that your advantage applies to pretty much all characters. I'm sorry, that's not what the advantage is meant to do.

No, I mentioned that I wanted the actual Advantage to only give it's bonus with women. I figured I'd only get to choose one or the other, and not be able to pick both or buy it twice.

I've always viewed the dark beauty ability as a flaunting of social restrictions to seduce someone, like what Kachiko does.  Not sure there are so many restrictions for the same sex in this culture.

Oh, if it's just for women, then it's fair game. From reading the story, i thought it would apply to both. No problems here then!

Nah, while she has no qualms about trying to seduce men, she just has a knack for girls when she's playing her little crossdressing game.

*nods*  I was the one who mentioned that it seemed to me the merit should apply to anyone attracted to her gender.  Latooni's interpretation agreed with yours right from the start.

I'd love to do something here, but I seem to have absolutely no idea what this is about, nor can I find any info on it.

Interesting. I think I may try something with a Dragon Clan member.

Also, go easy on me guys. I'd never heard of L5R until just now when Muse linked me the page. I'm still like square 1 of all this.

DnD is about it, and not much as there aren't many people to play with in my area. I'll try but I won't get my hopes up since this will basically be an uphill battle, lol.

Juggtacular, I've played (and run) a lot of L5R, and one thing I will say is that the mindset is very different to your standard D&D game. You are Samurai. What matters is honour, duty and face. It can be a very subtle setting to work with in places. If you're not familiar with the game, you might want to look at a Crab rather than a Dragon. They're a lot more straightforward to play, and a Crab bushi isn't going to worry too much about subtle or political shenanigans. Alternately, a Unicorn might also work, as they're already seen as half barbarian, and do strange things like wearing fur and leather and eating red meat.

Of course, I'm playing a damn Scorpion, and a Fool as well, so I get to do the complicated role. :3

Hope you don't need the crunch too quickly, because I got distracted by GETTING A NEW JOOOOOB! :D
