This is not necessarily a game I'd start right now or very soon, but I was interested in finding out if there'd be an interest for it.

The basic concept is for a group of people to be confronted with some sort of monster or group of monsters and they have to work together to survive.

If you want to know the basic tone I'm thinking of, Screamers and Feast are two good examples.

Feast especially would make for a good basis, as it's limited to a single location and has an eclectic bunch of characters.

We'd consciously choose to have each character to confirm to an archetype.

Douchey bar owner
Alcoholic patron
Out of town professional type who just happens to be stranded at the bar
Military person
The ditsy waitress
The town loser
Wily old bartender
....

If I start this up, I would play the monsters and most of the characters would die by the end of game, based on their circumstances and choices.
I'm unsure as to whether or not I'd play a character myself or just stick to GMing.

If you feel this is something you'd enjoy being a part of, please feel free to say so in this thread.

Not familiar with either movie but it sounds like it could be interesting.
It's all good, and it's all in fun.  Now get in the pit and try to love someone.

Amy: Shall I run and get the manual?
The Doctor: I threw it in a supernova.
Amy: You threw the manual in a supernova? Why?
The Doctor: Because I disagreed with it! Now stop talking to me when I'm cross!”

Not comedy so much, but I did like the cast in "Legion" and it sort of fits the broader theme of survivors stuck together.
I'd be interested if this game ever starts.  Probably with the ditzy waitress, or maybe the worn-out barfly that used to be pretty.

Great!

I'd say we would need 5-8 people to start this up. Preferably more than five so that the game can last a bit longer. :)

In terms of how I will decide the order in which the characters die, it will be based on a very simple dice roll system that the players themselves won't notice.

Basically I will assign a 2d6 roll number to every risky action a character takes. Moving close to a window or door might just be a 1 or a 2. Heading outside to get some supplies from a truck would be like a 8 or a 9. And so forth.
Of course, all characters will be forced to take risks at some point in the game. :)
