He sung a song which criticized the President's foreign policy initiatives.

This isn't the first time he criticized the US President, either.

Thoughts?

I personally think that both sides made mistakes.  Fiasco should have known that publicly criticizing the President as part of a stage act would be very rude, especially to do at his inauguration.  Secondly, it wasn't a very good decision on the White House's part to invite an outspoken critic to the event.

Edit: I found out that the concert was pre-inauguration, and not affiliated with the White House.  The concert is known as StartUp RockOn, and was a private event meant to celebrate the inauguration.

Same song for 30 minutes? I don't think it's his opinions that got him booed off stage - I think it was probably that it was a shitty performance. :P

Skynet

That's a possibility.  Of course, I'm getting conflicting accounts from multiple news sources (Secret Service took him off stage vs. he left voluntarily), so I don't have a definite judgment as of yet.  Still not a good idea on Lupe's part to choose that particular song.

Not even the same song. Same verse for thirty minutes.

It likely could have been any verse and he'd have gotten booted. And I'm sure he wanted to get booted: but he probably didn't want to give them the pretext of his just being a poor entertainer for doing so.

Sooner or later, one has to live up to their chosen name. ::)

and find that the dark, too, blooms and sings,
and is traveled by dark feet and dark wings.

Seriously, if you're going to make an anti-war song thirty minutes long, at least make sure it's entertaining.  Edit:  Even Guthrie stopped at 18 minutes.

Precisely my point.  Even my amateurish rendition at my freshman talent show didn't result in me getting booed off the stage.

I saw this guy on the Colbert Report a long time ago. He says his modus operandi is to always question authority, all the time, even if they support your ideas. A fat lotta good that did him, I see.
