Heyho RedPhoenix.  Loving the new avatar.  And thank you, glad you're in it as well - as I said, I really enjoyed your HP posts and looking forwards to seeing more of'em.

Oh, by the way, something I (as the future mistress of the world) have suggested to our wonderful GM, concerning a couple of characters...

The more observant amongst you may note that Dr Hard is going to be leading an atractive, naked (or nearly so) and rather brainwashed young lady around with her. (If anyone wants to play her, by the way, they can. I've invited someone I know enjoys that sort of roll, but I think she's away for the holidays).

But I was thinking - as this is a totally trope-based idea, I think it would be interesting if we included The Kidnapped Scientist trope. I've discussed this briefly with Ciosa and we both like the idea, but it requires a special sort of player to play the Mad Scientist roll.

My idea is that the Mad Scientist is working for Dr Hard against his/her will, and is doing so in order to ensure that nothing even nastier happens to the brainwashed slave girl, who just happens to be the scientist's daughter...

(The fact that the brainwashing has probably worn off, but the slave girl is still behaving like she is brainwashed is significant... She is probably enjoying it!)

I'm adjusting to my in-laws Christmases.  They're loud and with lots of people.  My side f the family, if you got a lot of people together and there was booze, someone got punched.

I love being Irish.  My grandfather flipped a table and suckerpunched my grand uncle at my brother's wedding.  We're very bad with open bars.

Wahey! Fellow Irish.

Also expressing interest in this game. Evil Genius is a fun game and the characters put forward so far seem fun.

I've a character submitted to Ciosa, so once its all sorted we'll be one character closer to a full cast :D

I really like Chrystal's idea for the Mad Scientist Troupe.

As a matter of fact, I think I might be that 'Special Person' you were looking for to play him. Lemme know if I can be of assistance.

The Basics

Name:  Robert West
Nutshell:  The Freak on a Leash
Age: 30
Sex:  Male
Orientation: Straight
Role: Master at Arms
Player: Primarch

The Look
Physical Description:  Robert stands at approximately six feet tall and weighs one hundred and eighty five pounds
Preferred Attire:  Robert doesn't counter clothing style important, he generally just wears simple jeans & t-shirts. Sometimes just a guard uniform. Dread (see personality) on the other hand usually wears body armour under a long jacket with a broad collar.
Weapon of Choice: Robert's weapon of choice is a typical Desert Eagle or a sawn-off shotgun. Dread prefers his bare hands or a big, heavy chain.

The story
Likes: Bacon & Cheese burgers, cigarettes, poker. (As Dread) laughing maniacally while face and open hands are facing upwards.
Dislikes: volatile situations, vegan food, large population areas.
Personality: It should be noted that Robert has two personalities, not entirely uncommon in someone with a mind as fractured as his. Robert is prone to stress and lacks confidence, but he's certainly loyal. One could compare him to a dog that's been kicked into submission. Dread on the other hand is very confident, assertive and acts without remorse or second thought. Their relationship is something akin to a brothers, where Dread is prone to bullying Robert but will instantly step to his defense if somebody else threatens him. On any standard occasion Robert will be 'in control' but Dread generally takes over where a situation leaves Robert uncomfortable. The best way to make Dread 'appear' is to give Robert a good kicking. While Robert is a poor Master-at-Arms, military minions that push him to far tend to end up meeting Dread. Meeting Dread tends to keep the rest in line.
Habits: Smoking, popping pills, crying in the shower.
Flaws: Agoraphobic paranoid schizophrenic.

History:

Robert West started off with a shockingly normal life. He had a loving mother and father, even a dog named Skip. Everything was very nice for quite some time. Then came High School. For one reason or another (as if there's always a reason) the school thugs found Robert to be a delightful target. Quite basically, they kicked the shit out of him as often as possible. Robert's response to this was Charlie Sheen level's of substance abuse. It probably wasn't the best idea, the mad mix of alcohol and drugs and "off his balls" experiences resulted in Robert starting to have worrying periods of blackout.

When Robert was 17 he was going through a typical period of a four-on-one beat down when he found he was no longer in control of himself. This was the first time 'Dread' emerged as far as he can recall. This was also the first time (as far as he can recall) Robert/Dread killed people with his bare hands. While the police never linked poor little Robert West to the murder of four promising, small town hero football players he did start seeing a shrink. His 'episodes' got worst and despite being completely clean of drugs by 20 he couldn't make 'Dread' go away. The two started having long conversations where Dread held the point that everything strong about them was Dread. When Robert needed protecting, Dread protected him. Robert would have preferred if 'protecting' him didn't involve beating someone to death with a chain.

Robert eventually had himself placed under care in a psychiatric facility, or a loony bin. Destiny didn't want Robert to spend his days in a loony bin however and eventually he was visited by an a confident well dressed man that offered him steady work and help for his poor mind. He's been a henchman ever since.

Shortly, I'm going to begin opening up some Evil Genius threads in the forums - I'm going to place it in non-con human, small groups, and I'll post links back to here once they're all established.

To everyone still working on concepts - and those interested who still haven't decided to jump on the band wagon, the game will allow additional recruiting after game start.  have no fear, there's always space in the Evil Organization.

See you all soon!

The Basics
Name:  Jamie-Leigh Hoffman
Nutshell:  Nail Technician/General
Age: 28
Sex:  Female
Orientation: Straight, but willing to branch out if needed
Role: Head of Mercenary Guards
Player:  Kythia

The Look
Physical Description:  5'6",  lbs bleached blonde hair, Strong Tenessee accent, immaculate nails
Preferred Attire:  Military uniform as pictured, massively over the top number of weapons.  Daisy Dukes and cut off t-shirt, Green ball gown
Weapon of Choice: Carries an automatic weapon and host of handguns, grenades and knives.  Doesn't know how to use any of them.

The story
Likes: Nascar, Allman Brothers, grits
Dislikes: Intellectualism
Personality: Permanently terrified redneck
Habits: Tends to stay in the background, agrees instantly with anything suggested.  Walks with a limp that occasionally changes legs.
Flaws: Incompetent
History:

Jamie Lee Hoffman of Toome, UK is one of the most feared mercenary commanders in the world.  He has fought in every war zone for the last thirty years and built a terrifying and brutal reputation.  Jamie-Leigh Hoffman of Toone, Tenessee is a self-employed nail technician.  The third person in the story is an unknown office worker in the Evil Genius' organisation who presumably shakes in terror every day that his or her mistake will be uncovered.

Jamie-Leigh grew up in Toone where she lived a fairly uneventful life for 27 years.  Backseat fumbles at the prom, a couple of Drunk and Disorderly charges, a solid D student, nothing special.  She eventually found work of a type as an untrained nail technician, though the IRS didn't need to know about that source of income, it'd intefere with her utterly fake disability cheques that Jeb Newman at the Social sorted out for every girl willing to text a picture of their breasts to him.

That all changed when she received an invite to an interview.  It happened from time to time and it was best to show up or risk the monthly cheque stopping.  She caught a lift into Nashville and met with a man in a rented office, who offered her a job as a military commander.  At a ridiculous wage.  She laughed and said this was an absolutely awful hidden camera show, and they should at least try to make it believable.  He assured her it was and could she sign here, here and here and initial here.  She played along, at least she'd get on TV out of it, and the Disability people in Washington (at least thats where she assumes they are) would be able to see she was looking for work.  She put her limp on, racking her brains to remember which leg it was meant to be.

Before she knew it she was bundled into a waiting helicopter and whisked away to a tropical volcano.  Quite quickly she came to realise she was the Evil Genius' new head of security, although it took her a lot longer to work out why and find mention of the Northern Irish merc Jamie Lee.

Now she lives in constant terror that one of the henchmen - who she views without exception as brilliantly intelligent and terrifyingly evil - will find out she's not who she's meant to be.  It's not a particularly hard cover to crack, after all, and several of her underlings already have.  They get soft, safe and secure postings and massive pay rises, more if they ask for it which they tend to.  She's implemented a fairly un-military system of regular meetings with her lieutenants where she basically just agrees with whatever they say and tries hard - and unsuccesfully - to pretend that was her idea all along.  All of them know her secret but a combination of low-danger postings, money and anything else she can think of keep them under control.  As it is, the mercenary forces become daily less effective and she is desperate to find a competent and talented underling whose ideas she can steal.

We now has a scientist. I am so terribly sorry about the wait, I didn't even realize I'd been considered @_@. Here he is. Also, let me just say what's already been said but... Kythia... that has got to be the best character EVER. I love her already.

The Basics

Name:  Doctor Jake Ballenfield
Nutshell: The Unwilling Scientist
Age: 43
Sex:  Male
Orientation: Straight
Role: The Scientist
Player:  Xenolord

The Look
Physical Description: Doctor Ballenfield is nothing extraordinary in the physical department. Standing at a decent six one, he weighs in at a hundred and forty pounds. His hair is usually in a state of chaotic distress, as he takes very little time for himself. He has a shadow of a beard which he keeps trimmed, but not enough to look old.
Preferred Attire:  Ever since being 'convinced' to come to the island as continue his research, Doctor Ballenfield has had no time to change out of his black 'DEAD END' t-shirt (Unaffiliated with the '84 band of the same name) and white lab coat, nor his black denim jeans.
Weapon of Choice: The good doctor abhors weapons of all kinds, but his mind is sharp enough to be one.

The story
Likes: Science, freedom, and the two together
Dislikes: Confinement and Not-Science
Personality: Doctor Ballenfield is a bit insane in his personal life (which is one of the reasons it's believed his daughter was kidnapped), but when it comes to science, he becomes a man with a goal.
Habits: While thinking, Doctor Ballenfield has an annoying habit of clicking a ballpoint pen's button. Repeatedly. For hours. He also has a bad habit of stalling for time. He's also got a thing for cliche idle threats, such as 'You monster... you'll never get away with this...'
Flaws: He is not a terribly good liar, even with a well-rehearsed story.
Special Abilities  None
History: Doctor Jake Allistair Ballenfield is the pinnicle of the 'scientific genius'. A child prodegy, Jake had graduated full-honors from Harvard at eighteen, he moved on to study genetics. After learning how boring Genetics was, he moved on to Bio-Chem, where he met a young research assistant named Amber. Eventually, after long nights burning the midnight oil together, the two married at twenty. Three years later, they had their first child, a girl, and all was right... until an unknown disease took Amber from Jake and the newborn girl. Determined to erradicate this killer from the face of the earth, Jake began to look into the genetic markers of the disease, which eventually lead to long nights away from home.

His daughter grew up without a mother and, sadly, without a father either. Early to work and late to return, Jake would often come home to find his little girl sound asleep, and find himself out the door before she awoke. It was as if the two were strangers living in the same house. This, sadly, caused a rebellious streak to arise in the girl, staying out til all hours and bringing people over to spend the night, Jake could hardly talk to his daughter, let along control her.

So when she decided to start ignoring what few times he did talk to her, it only broke the already shattered doctor. His defenses of the 'crazy doctor' being the only thing that saves him from true insanity. One morning, as he rose for work, he received a letter, saying that this daughter was in the 'gracious care' of, and I quote, 'My master', and to come to an address if he ever wanted to see her again.  Doing so, he soon found himself, unwillingly, on a helicopter towards an island of indeterminate location...

He could only pray it had nothing to do with his work into diseases.

~A video arrives of a recent interview for an experimental sciences and technologies position. The scene starts with a black background and a mousey looking bright green haired young lady in a lab-coat with a smiley face button where her name tag should be. She adjusts lenseless large round glasses on her face as she listens intently to a mumbling voice off camera~

Let me stop you right there and get something right. EVIL?! Why does it always have to be evil or mad?! So, it's misunderstood, doesn't mean it's evil or mad! It's like they don't understand the importance of global peace and act like one person making sure all laws are kept is a bad thing!

~a soft murmuring voice can be heard off camera as she listens intently~

My experiments? You hear about that fifteen foot pink rabbit that stormed into the U.N. last week? Yeah, that wasn't mine, but it was only possible because my research was stolen! I HAVE PROOF!

~balling up her fist, she shakes it at the sky~

Those aliens will pay for stealing my research notes some day! I'll make explosive ... SOMETHINGS! Then send them on a rocket to their ship and KABOOIE! No more aliens!

Huh? Oh, sorry. Yeah... lets see. When I was 12, I made a nuclear reactor from my Dads car and some things out of the kitchen. Mom wasn't too happy, but Spike was easy to find at night from then on. He makes a great nightlight! Don't have to worry about using power to keep the lights on, he just sits there and makes this wonderful green glow! I am a little worried about how his drool seems to be able to eat through most woods, but it doesn't seem to dissolve stone or any metals.... hum?

~again, she listens to the voice off camera that had been trying for some time to get her attention~

Well, to explore the wonders and amazing advances of science in all its forms. All those disgusting regulations saying you can't do this or shouldn't do that... so a few people get harmed or grow extra limbs! Look at what happened to Spike! I mean, how awesome would it be to be able to get up and go to the bathroom at night without having to turn on any lights or worry about tripping over a table leg and spilling some kind of acid or other genetic experiment onto you causing who knows what kind of untold side effects or mutation!

Oh, pay? Never really thought about pay, honestly. Not sure if I care. So long as I get the equipment I need to advance my experiments and don't have anyone standing over my shoulder telling me I can't do something... I'd work for free. Oh! Also there has to be a wide selection of food available. Oh, no, not for Spike, he doesn't eat anymore... still haven't figured that one out... but for me. I never traveled much, something about UN sanctions against me crossing any boarders... or leaving my cell. Got tired of those padded white walls.

~again the voice cuts in as she takes a breath, quickly asking something. Wish a shake of her head and a dismissive wave~

That's not important. Pretty boring really, something about a fire and a riot. I wasn't the cause, just took advantage of the situation. Now, do I get the position or are there any other questions you want to ask of me? I'm really behind on my research...

~the video cuts off there~

I am really sorry to do this, but between my own playing rate, my search for a part time job, and the looming possibility of work cutting my free time down, I just don't think I have it in me to run this and run it well.  I know everyone's created characters and the game just requires a few threads to get going - I just don't think I'll have the time to manage it and make it an enjoyable experience.

I hope you all can forgive me, and I've deliberated on it for a long time, trying to convince myself that I could do it.  I'm more than open to having someone else step up and take the reins; I just don't think it would be responsible of me to take it on right now.

Thank you so much for your interest and your creative character ideas!  If it does go forward, I promise I'll be its biggest fan - I would love to see these characters in action, and I just don't feel I can do it justice right now.  My apologies about disappointing, I just didn't want to disappear without a trace.

It's all good Ciosa, and massProps for actually giving us some closer rather than having it drift-- I know the temptation there, but it's best this way.

That said, iBet someone's willing to run it. I might even be came if it came down to that, but I don't know that I'm the best choice and iSuspect there are others with more time&Ability.

Perhaps add "looking for GM" to thread title?

Okay, seriously, if I wasn't already over committed myself, I would jump at this. But I am afraid I simply cannot take on running another game this size right now.

I'm willing to chat about the weather in this thread, though, in order to keep it near the top of the forum....
