Princess of Mars

Yeah I know cliché title but it fits for the overall vision of what I am proposing.

Ive recently finished the Erskan Trilogy (images below) and began to process this idea for an RP.


The basic concept of the story is MC is from a technologically advanced civilization that has spread across the stars of the galaxy. He is a ‘Pioneer’, a term referring to their task to charter the unknown reaches of space. Searching them for new planets to colonize, resources to exploit, and mysteries to uncover. Using an experimental FTL drive, he uses this technology intending to go a bit further than the rest of his comrades. Instead of being ahead by a few light years, the drives efficiency pushes the ship thousands of light years past his intended target. Far enough away that he is effectively trapped unless he can find more fuel to take him back.

Exploring this new found solar system he finds ancient defense systems that engage his ship and render it heavily damaged. Having to leave the ship in orbit around a moon to keep it from being totally destroyed. He attempts to take a small ship down to the habitable world in the system, but his systems malfunction upon reentry. Instead of a graceful flight through the atmosphere, the ship rockets towards the ground like a meteor. Leaving a comet like trail of fire in its wake in the sky. The ship crash lands and now MC is even more stuck than he thought possible.

The planet he lands on is found to be a relic world, where an ancient precursor species had once lived and had since died off. Leaving behind a treasure trove of ancient technology. Also left behind was the planets native species, during the precursors time merely another animal species, but by the time of MC landing, they have advanced to a techno-feudal society. The technology of the past is revered as holy. Its reproduction and understanding a complete mystery. They can use some of it but cannot recreate it.

YC would be a member of one of the various factions that control the planet. The society of the planet has been disturbed by the mysterious comet in the sky. A foretold event in their religion predicting a great change to come to the world. YC would be the one to discover MC at the crash site and first contact is made. Through interactions after initial hostility, MC discovers the inhabitants of this world are not far away from Humans in appearance and biology. A tale of love, mystery, and war ensues. My baseline idea of YC’s background is a princess of one of the kingdoms, but this is open to modification.

I envision the society of this alien world to be sort of reverse dynamic between male and female. Where Females are considered dominant sex. Males are born in less numbers than females are. This makes it to where good, healthy and strong males are considered an uncommon resource. As such wars and skirmishes over this ‘resource’ is common.

I am super open to suggestions and ideas to further the world building with my eventual writing partner. I want this to be a joint effort so that we are both engaged and eager to play within this fantasy setting.
