Game Setting

Hawaiian Neighbors is a sandbox freeform game with no GM involvement besides accepting characters. Players are expected to create their own stories within the framework provided.

Characters will all be neighbors living in the same apartment building in the tropical city of Honolulu, Hawaii.

Surf, party on the beach, go hiking in Hawaii's beautiful mountains, enjoy the Hawaiian nights... Your characters will have endless possibilities to mingle, make friends, have sex, and be a good neighbor... or a bad one!

Roleplay will take place in the Bondage: Human section of the Elliquiy forums.

The Building



Date Gardens ¤ 2522 Date St, Honolulu, HI

The 16 stories building has two façades, each one comprising 3 abreast units with balconies, meaning there are 6 units per floor, for a total of 96 units.

For my sake and simplicity, all units will be the same size: 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, 525 sqft unit with 1 parking stall.

The layout is as follow with the last two digits never changing per floor, and the first one changing to represent the floor:

So, for example, Apartment 904 (9th floor) will be right below Apartment 1004 (10th floor).

There is also a common laundry room, a lobby and picnic tables in the yard where residents can hang out.

Characters

All characters must be 18 years or older. Characters may be of any gender identity or sexuality.

This is not a luxurious building in any way and was chosen by design, in order to encourage a broader variety of characters with different incomes as opposed to only well-off characters.

For face claims, make it make sense please. Don't use pics of a 52 year old actor with wrinkles and gray hair as the face claim of an 18 year old, etc. You can use pics of that 52 y/o when they were around 18 though, that would definitely be suitable.

If you want to make multiple characters (there's no limit unless this game generates mad interest) just note that they cannot reside on the same floor unless they share an apartment (e.g. a couple or someone temporarily staying over at a friends/relatives place). I don't want a writer to monopolize a floor.



Some scenarios that could activate your muse:

• New neighbor: Thought I'd say hi!
• Gossipy neighbor: Oh my God did you hear the guy in 405 had sex with the girl in 301?
• Loud neighbor: WHAT? CAN'T HEAR YOU! KEEP IT DOWN? HELL NAH DUDE, THIS IS TOO GOOD!
• Nosy neighbor: So what do you do for living? Haha how much do you earn? By the way, are those implants?
• The mysterious neighbor: never seen, curtains always shut, but they've been in the building for years
• Overly-friendly neighbor: they always knock on doors and want to get to know everyone... What are boundaries anyways?
• Eccentric neighbor: why is their front door painted pink? why are they eating a raw potato like an apple?
• Laundry romance: get to know each other in the laundry room
• Neighbor Who Can't Park Their Car: Some idiot badly parked their car and you can't park yours now so you call them out but they're cute... Hmm...
• Neighbor Who Just Hit Your Car: Some idiot damaged your car but they're cute... Hmm...
• The cat person: cats everywhere, just cats, and your neighbor's allergic oh no! but the felines always jump to their balcony... Meow!
• The dog walkers: you both have dogs, you both walk them at the same time in the morning/evening, etc. You don't know their name but you know their dog's name
• The spider/insects guy: ew gross! or wow cool! your neighbor might not like your little friends but you do
• Elevator Encounters: Riding the elevator with a hot neighbor? Hell yeah! Riding the elevator with a weirdo? Hell no!
• Can I borrow uhhhh: Hey there neighbor, can I borrow your microwave? Bye Felicia!
• The water leak: Upstairs neighbor's bathtub is leaking and water's dripping off the ceiling!
• AirBnB: Your neighbor's renting out their place to fucking tourists! Ugh!
• Parkour: Some mfer is climbing your balcony! Hide yo kids hide yo wives!
• Cigarette drama: The hallway stinks of cigarette and you hate it! Smoking kills unless you kill first! It's time to smoke the smokers!
• Delivery drama: Who stole my package?!?
• Crime in the building: Drug dealing, robbery, etc.

Why Dipika would be DENIED

FC/Name/Ethnicity: Character has a South Asian name (specifically Telugu from India) but the face claim used is Mila Kunis who is Eastern European (specifically Ukrainian Jew).
GM recommendation: Player should either change the FC or the character name/ethnic background to match the FC more adequately. You wouldn't use Brad Pitt as the face claim of a Han Chinese character, same logic applies here.

Vehicle: With her job, there is no way this character can afford a Bugatti Veyron, one of the rarest and most expensive cars ever manufactured
GM recommendation: Have her own a vehicle that properly reflects her income, such as a Honda Civic or whatever

Hardworking/Lazy: She has two personality traits that are antonyms; she should either be hardworking OR lazy, not both.
GM recommendation: Pick one and add another trait

Likes/Dislikes: She likes walks on the beach but dislikes the beach, this is contradictory and doesn't add up
GM recommendation: Either she likes walks on the beach (and consequently the beach), or she dislikes the beach, pick one, add another like or dislike as fit

Spice Up Your RolePlay Experience

Here are some optional ideas to make your RolePlay experience more interesting or add a challenge to get out of your writing comfort zone:

Swap Characters: make a character for another player and they make one for you to write (would advise to do this with a writer you trust or go nuts and ask a stranger)

The Hate Train: make a character you would completely hate if you knew them in real life (often quite challenging to write but generally rewarding)

Less-Common Character Archetype: make a character with traits or circumstances you've rarely seen written on Elliquiy or elsewhere before (e.g. the pure antagonist, person with a physically impairing disability, the Karen, the Stalker, the Prude, the Matchmaker/Cupid, etc.)

First come first serve, indeed! You can reserve apartment units but keep in mind that you - as a player/writer - can only have one apartment per floor.

So if you want to make two characters, for example, you'd need to have them share the same apartment if you want them to be on the same floor OR they each have their own apartment on different floors
