Looking good!

So, I'm thinking about doing a farm lad(early twenties) from New Zealand, out on a hunting trip when he discovers one of the statues. That raises the question of firearms though... It's very normal to carry a rifle while hunting, but even considering the finite nature of ammunition, making it a short lived advantage at best, I figure I probably need to ask about a rifle finding it's way into your setting?

Also, how do you feel about the portrayal of mental disorders? I'd like my guy to have what's known as a schizoid(not related to Schizophrenia) personality, which basically means he'd be emotionally distant, and have issues with feeling dissociated from reality. If you've ever seen the TV show Wayne, he'd be a textbook example. Is that okay, or would you prefer us to stick to more conventional characters?

Finally(and apologies if I've missed it somewhere), do you plan this to be primarily a group sandbox game, with the travellers starting together and more or less banding together as a group and interacting amongst ourselves, or more of a GM driven experience, where we might encounter each other but the focus will be on exploring the world, and doing our own thing? The introduction seems a little vague on that.

I have no qualms about allowing your character to bring a rifle to Enon, but it will have disasterous consequences on the world. It would certainly give him an edge and a line of protection in the world. I am not familiar with schizoid. I would have to research it, but the more depth you get into a character, such as mental disorders, the better the gameplay is, in my opinion. I will just have to learn through the game about how to treat it in an otherwise conventional world.

To answer your last question, that is completely up to all of the players. Whether they want to band together and create a group experience or go their separate ways and let the GM drive their characters' stories is optional. The freedom in Enon is vast and even if you split up, eventually characters will come back together in the major story arcs. My full plan is to recreate the Enon universe using past characters and their adventures as its history in the future.

That is one of the most amazing long term plans I have ever heard! I hope that this lasts long enough for that to happen. Kinda reminds me of Mistborn where the religions in the second series are based on the characters in the first.
A&A's

"When at 15, my girlfriends started dropping out of their beloved sports teams, because they didn't want to appear muscle-y, when at 18, my male friends were unable to express their feelings, I decided that I was a feminist." - Emma Watson

Thank you. I was a part of a D&D Campaign that incorporated past characters into its history. I thought the idea would be work here if the game lasts long enough. Will your character be forgotten in history? Remembered by a few people? Or become an influential figure honored by Enon?

And so the era of the Dark Lord begins... I'm fine with causing some disastrous consequences. Sounds like fun. Will probably get a sheet up on thursday-ish. Busy schedules suck.

I see I'm not the only Brandon Sanderson fan in here either. Kelsier would have to be one of my favorite characters ever.

PERSONALITY

Leyu has spent her entire life with it being drilled into her that she can’t measure up. Second born, and a daughter at that, she could never measure up to her older brother, the future head of the Harada Crime Family. Nothing she ever did was ever enough to gather the praise that seemed to be her brother’s birthright for the taking. There is a major chip on Leyu’s shoulder about this.

The only way to avoid her parent’s glowering displeasure was to conform to the ideals that they set forth for her, as a very traditional Japanese family. She was to be a polite, well-behaved, proper and traditional Japanese girl, obedient to her family, accomplished academically without ever challenging the family's patriarchs. She has always sought to obey this ideal, even hiding her sexuality over time for fear of their rejection and displeasure. And honestly having faced that displeasure and rejection, Oto is struggling just to stay mentally afloat. She could revert back to conformist, obedient behaviors in hopes of making a new place for herself, even as part of her longs - begs - to rebel and forge her own path, everyone else's rules be damned. On the other side a deeper darker side to her is awakening.

However Harada Leyu has quite the temper, though she has spent most of her life keeping it under very rigid check, almost never letting it out. With the rejections she has faced, Leyu's temper is that much stronger, and she is struggling that much harder to keep it bottled up. That temper pushed her to finally confess to her family, and look how that turned out!

BACKGROUND
Leyu comes from Tokyo, Japan and is the daughter born to the Harada clan. Her father Saburo is the leader of the clan which is the third largest Yakuza clan in Japan. Unfortunately she is only the second child born to the family with her brother Akio being the older one and heir to the clan.

Her life was a hard one with parents that pressed upon her that she would never be better then her brother and her only purpose in the family would be to eventually marry the future head of the Yomitsu Clan. From there she was pressed into learning to be perfect wife and traditional daughter. Leyu also was trained in several traditional Japanese art forms. It was during this time she also found that she did in fact enjoy some things that she had been forced to learn. Of these languages was one she took naturally to.

When her family learned of this they took advantage of it to force her into doing their interpreting when having meetings with other criminal groups. Leyu took the chance during the language classes to slip in some more dance classes. It was also during this time that she discovered a pair of things… One that she liked girls and that one of her classmates, one Nene Tanaka liked her back, the two girls started a relationship. Leyu started to push back against her parents as she started to realize this.

One fateful night when her parents were finalizing the marriage arrangements Leyu snapped and let them know about her and Nene. Of course this didn’t go well as the family rejected the concept and Nene dumped her as she didn’t want to come out. To avoid being forced into a marriage that she didn’t want, Leyu cut her hair and ran away.

With her family searching for her, Leyu could only go to one place which was Aokigahara forest, the Sea of Trees also known as the Suicide Forest. As she walked through the silent forest of death with only the bag on her back she stumbled across an out of place statue. It was nothing like she had ever seen before and she reached out to touch the stone before falling unconscious. She would wake up to a very different place…

SKILLS | TALENTS

Languages: As with most well-educated children of Japan, Leyu is multi-lingual. Japanese is her native tongue, but she is also quite fluent in both spoken and written English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Italian, and Russian.

Art: Leyu is moderately skilled in several traditional Japanese art forms, including painting, pottery, bonsai, flower arrangement, and calligraphy. These were expected of her, and she learned how. She is not exceptional at any of them.

Music and Dance: The one thing she ever did for herself is learn the violin and Leyu has a great singing voice. She learned dance as was expected of her, but honestly enjoys it.

STRENGTHS
Photographic memory, quick learner when it comes to languages, hard to anger

WEAKNESSES
   No combat experience, quiet, hunted,

INVENTORY
A change of clothing, some water, some money, I.D.

Matt Jackson

BASICS
Legal Name: Matthew James Jackson
Birth and Age: 8 March, 1998 (23 years old)
Race/Ethnicity: Pakeha (Caucasian)
Occupation before Travel: Farm Labourer
Languages: English
Additional Info:

OTHER INFORMATION
Birth Place: Marlborough, NZ
Likes: Working, Peace and Quiet, Hunting, Cooking, Reading, Camping
Dislikes: Loud People, Funerals, Expectations
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Player ONs/OFFs: I lean towards the heavier side of what this game is likely to allow. I often do Non-Con, though I enjoy a good consensual scene just as much, if not more. Total bondage fiend, even if it's maybe not the greatest in RP, also fond of all the usual humiliation, orgasm denial, torture, w/e. Give me a pretty girl and free rein to do what I want, and I'm at my happiest. Bonus points for Brats.
Character ONs/OFFs: Matt is attracted to the loud, outgoing type of girl. Unfortunately he dislikes that they are loud and outgoing. Catch 22. If only there was a way to shut them up for a while.(Matt will not be experienced with women. Growing up on a farm, he hasn't had much opportunity to experiment with what he likes yet.)
Will of the World: Eh, I'm good to just let it happen naturally. For the most part, I'm more likely to be interested in encounters with other PCs than world encounters. He's not a sex tourist, if ya know what I mean...

PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Hair Color:
Eye Color:
Height: 6'1"
Weight: (240lb)
Outfit: Dark green homespun woollen jersey, a ratty old fleece shirt, thermals, khaki shorts, and sturdy leather boots with woollen socks. He has a bolt action ruger .243 slung over his shoulder and a small, but very well packed daybag with his hunting gear, a spare pair of socks, a parka, and emergency survival gear on his back.
Faceclaim: Finn Brock

PERSONALITY

Matt has what's known as a schizoid personality. He's never really seen it as a bad thing though, despite the difficulties it causes him. Then again, he wouldn't. Matt can be best described as someone who is emotionally distant. He doesn't really form feelings of attachment in the same way others do, nor does he feel the same sense of engagement. Ask him why he's so indifferent towards, well, everything, and he'll just shrug. He just never really felt like he belonged here. He's always been far happier out in the wilderness than trying to navigate the bustle of a modern world. It's not even that he dislikes people. He likes his parents just fine, and he has a perfectly healthy attraction to women, not that there's many of those around the Station anyway. He just doesn't see what all the fuss is about.

In practical terms, Matt is a bit of a hard case. he doesn't much care for things like Christmas, probably doesn't talk to his parents as much as he should, and avoids relationships because they feel like too much effort. He still feels emotion - it's just not as intensely as others. Happiness, sadness, fear, surprise... he gets them. And then he puts them aside and just gets on with it. He'll still come running if you're in danger. You can rely on him to carry through with his promises. He's more than happy to pitch in when he's needed. It's just... well, if he remembers your birthday then he must REALLY like you.

Oddly enough, Matt is most drawn to bold, loud(dare I say opinionated) women. They say opposites attract. Matt likes watching them flit about, breathing fire and doing all the things he struggles with, full of energy and life. From a distance, mind. How are you supposed to even handle someone like that up close? Having grown up on a fairly remote farm has only exacerbated the issue. Forget relationships, Matt can barely even talk to a woman like that.

BACKGROUND

Matt grew up on a station in the Marlborough high country. He still lives there with his parents, helping to run the station alongside the rest of the stockmen. When he isn't out and about, doing one of the never ending list of jobs needed to keep the station running and in good repair, he can usually be found deep in a back gully, or stalking the mountain tops, hunting. It's not even about the hunt... there's just something about being out, and in tune with the wild that makes him feel alive in a way that people just can't.

Matt's parents knew early on that Matt was a bit of a weird kid. He was a quiet kid, more interested in reading and exploring than attention. He skipped the rebellious phase entirely - he just didn't really see the point. It wasn't until his mid teens though, that his concerned parents finally took him off to see a shrink. Schizoid Personality, the psychologist told them, nothing really to be done about it. Matt did therapy for a while, but really, it was just about coming to terms with what it meant, how to better live with people. Nothing that Matt hadn't worked out for himself though. Commuting to the city quickly became a nuisance and the therapy lapsed.

Life went on. As Matt grew older, he took on more responsibility on the station, and honed his hunting skills, growing into a very well built young man. The relative isolation of growing up on a farm meant he didn't spend much time with kids his own age, and most of his school lessons were a mixture of correspondence and home-schooling. Besides a couple of senior years at a boarding school, Matt has lived on the Station his entire life. None of which has ever bothered him much, though it's left him sorely lacking in the relationships department. Besides a brief infatuation with a girl called Ellie, who labelled him an "emotional retard", he's never experienced, nor sought much in the way of relationships. Better to admire from afar, and just get on with life, in his book.

SKILLS | TALENTS Stockmanship, Hunting, Outdoorsmanship, Shooting, Cooking

STRENGTHS Excellent general and practical knowledge, in great physical condition, smart, hardworking, reliable, highly logical and resistant to fear, anxiety, shock etc

WEAKNESSES Detached, not great with people, and not particularly highly educated.

INVENTORY  He has a bolt action ruger .243 slung over his shoulder and a small, but very well packed daybag with his hunting gear, including a spare pair of socks, a parka, sunnys, a beanie, insect repellent and sunscreen, his hunting knife, Binos, a backup magazine, and some extra ammunition besides(probably not more than 50 rounds all up). Scroggin, a water bottle, a survival blanket, a flint, steel and a small quantity of tinder, a chocolate bar, a short coil of thin but strong rope, an emergency locator beacon, a small first aid kit, some water purification tablets. And probably a few other things I can't think of off the top of my head... Unfortunately, most of his gear and supplies are back at camp, however.
