Dark and Devious Adventures

Hey y'all! I have a main-request thread, but I thought I'd make a thread special for something I'm REALLY craving right now! I am looking for people to play with that are interested in some dark, spooky, demon/ghost/ancient evil based adventures with two or more protagonists trying to save the world. Very Supernatural, I know, but let's take it above the PG-13 rating shall we? I want to flex my horror-writing muscles, and find partners who are down to elaborate on horror and occult themes with a hearty dose of giggling in the background over how much danger our characters are in for. So! A few options here:


VIRAL POSSESSION(taken!)
A new disease has cropped up in the world that is deeply troubling the way most new, pervasive diseases are. The strangeness of this particular disease however, has medical experts across the world flummoxed and perturbed, particularly because every person who has contracted the disease so far has gotten deathly ill with a horrific myriad of symptoms, died, and returned from death at the last moment to get inexplicably well. Said people are also strangely changed in personality, able to remember general details of their own identities, but often abandoning their families, livelihoods and homes without explanation. Even more troubling, people who have survived this disease have begun forming compounds that are both highly secretive, and perceived to be incredibly dangerous, and while world governments work to divert the public eye away from these horrors, secretive agencies have been trying to determine the cause and intent of these pandemic victims and their cult-like gatherings. Our characters are agents of one or two of those secret organizations, put together for their expertise in combat, the occult, or any other group of skills that makes them especially equipped to face up against this threat, but not all on their own. What I expect here is discussing the cause and nature of this pathogen, it's horrific effects on the body before 'death' and after, and the sort of supernatural and natural risks our characters might face in investigating this new and dangerous threat to the world.

A DEMONIC PACT

Exorcists typically work independently or with people of their own creed when it comes to dealing with the demons that crawl into the human world to cause chaos. That's the protocol, everyone stays in their lane, and no one discusses the reality that there are demons from all sorts of religions, some known and documented, others new and weak to specific ritual. This is how it's always been, until now, when a series of possessions have resulted in the warping of whole towns, priests of all sorts sacrificed in horrific ways and hushed whispers among occult organizations as to who is really meant to deal with this mess. Two exorcists who have divorced themselves from the craft after seeing too much have been friends (or lovers) for years, quietly living in one such town when the possessions begin. They've both kept their ear to the ground about the possessions and sacrifices that have been occurring, but unwilling to give up their quiet lives, they've turned a blind eye to the problem just as much as many occult organizations that hear the whispers of what's going on and say 'well that's clearly a Hindu problem' or 'let the Christians deal with that one.' The problem is, now whatever nefarious forces are slowly and without opposition taking over towns is now in our characters' town, and quickly becoming a problem that can no longer be ignored. I'd like to play characters who have Seen Some Shit, and are in their own ways disillusioned with exorcism in a traditional sense. We'll need to do some back story building and some world building together, but my plot-twist goal here, is that demons from different realms are joining forces and performing possessions that go far beyond anything exorcists of specific religious doctrines have seen. Let's get gorey and gross and horrific! If our characters are lovers, we'll discuss their past together, if they're friends, I'd love some romantic tension there that was perhaps on the precipice of being fulfilled before they had this mess put in their laps.

Good Omens But Gorey

So, if you don't know the premise here, a demon and an angel have a long standing amicable/romantic relationship in which they have been doing each other favors to avoid the attention of Heaven and Hell, which are significantly more concerned with paperwork and results than they are with the goings on of the world itself. That is until Armageddon is a go, and a war they've been waiting to have is right around the corner. As the world is plagued with atrocities and humanity is warped by angelic and demonic influence, the angel and demon must work together to try and save what's left of the world from becoming the battleground of a war that will only end in bloodshed and hollow victory. As angels and demons actively turn humans into monsters literally and metaphorically, all sorts of natural disasters rock the world and supernatural events become an hour-to-hour occurrence, these two must do what they can to slow the quickly nearing end, and hopefully, perhaps at costs too high to name, stop it from coming all together. I'm talkin Good Omens premise, Devil Man Cry Baby levels of gore out here lol. But that being said, I'd like both franchises to only serve as INSPIRATION, so if you like this idea, come with original characters, original concepts and a strong stomach.


Now, with all of these plots, as mentioned, I'd like to go pretty dark and gritty. The only thing I'd like to avoid out right is sexual violence directly performed upon main characters or heavily described in the plot. The reality is sexual violence is a thing, I just don't enjoy writing it at all, or spending a great deal of time and energy detailing that it occurs. That being said, body horror, maiming, implied/threatened sexual violence, violence of all kinds, monsters, and dark themes in general are all welcome here. I'm also a huge fan of romance that thrives in horrifying circumstances, and I'm not at all opposed to smut as long as it serves the plot. Adding romantic history to any of these plots adds an extra edge of danger and urgency, as well as a respite from all the darkness and a sense of hope through the devastation. I'm not opposed to any ships, but I'm inclined to play switch characters and not put a ton of emphasis in kink as a theme-- if it's there in your character design, it's noted, but none of these plots will leave a ton of time for elaborate kink or smut focused play. Please do not message me saying "I like this idea." and nothing else- come with your inspiration and show it to me, so I can message you back and we can get the plot building on the road.
