Hello! My name is Alja, and I'm GMing my first thread here on Elliquiy. However, while I may be new to the website, I've been role playing for an ungodly amount of time. I'd like to pitch my idea for a game I've had running in the past, and see if there's anyone who might be interested in it! ; u;! First and foremost, I apologize for the rather basic coding; I've only just got accepted into membership today, and I'm trying to figure out how the BBC for this particular forum works.

Anywho! Please see the sections below for basic information. However, I do have a Google Doc available with... literally everything you'd want to know about the world and the plot. Please, click the big title of the thread in the special blue font above the mages for an express route to the full doc. Please be aware; the doc is actually shorter in length than it appears. It is very image heavy, and as a result, it's stretched the doc to appear like it has much more info than it actually does. I will also be providing the link below, just in case the image and URL for the title doesn't load.

BRIEF PLOT SUMMARY

I know what you're thinking, you accidentally clicked on the 'full plot' tab first, and went JEEBUZ, CAN'T YOU GIVE ME A TL; DR? Gosh, if I'm interested in the premise, I'll read the full plot after, not before!

The answer is yes. Yes, I can. And I will, even. Just for you. :'D!

It's the 3000's, and a big corporation called Chancel Corp has built and created the perfect 'Utopian' city. It's a dome city, parked on the northernmost landmass on the North Pole. As a precaution, the company-turned-city-state made it mandatory for all citizens of Aurora City to take a monthly shot of a substance called Nivalis. It's meant to be an emergency heat producer, just in case the dome walls should become damaged, a power failure occurs, or some other emergency situation lets the cold in. It's said to give the people enough time of internally generated warmth to find a proper emergency shelter; at least until the crisis is over. The premise is this- your character has, for some reason, missed their monthly shot. Perhaps they've missed a couple months in a row, or even a few; it's up to you. And, after experiencing the extremely jarring and horrendous withdrawals, your character suddenly starts to realize something; they are experiencing feelings and free will for the very first time. Feelings such as fear, stress, anger, anxiety, love, lust, concern, joy- none of these things were previously available to them. Furthermore, their automatic impulse to do their daily routine is gone, and they have a newfound freedom of existence they never knew about.

  ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
They use this freedom to try and search for advice about their current medical abnormality, or just search the official forums for whatever reason your character wants in general. There, they find an 'unknown video file' uploaded and selectable outside of regular forum parameters. They select it, and are suddenly greeted by a frantic man who explains that Nivalis takes who they are away from them, and that Chancel Corp is not at all what it seems. He warns you not to get back on it, to seek the truth instead, and just as he starts giving out hints of what that might be Chancel Corp Security comes slamming into his room and puts several bullets into his body.

The transmission ends, but not before he could tell you to 'seek out the unknown user, if you want to find the truth.' Later on, your character get's a location ping to their personal rig, and they have the choice to pursue it. However, seeking the truth isn't their only motivation; since getting off of Nivalis, they've discovered they've been blessed with what can only be called a super human ability of some kind. However, using this ability puts strain on their bodies. It starts off as weakness, light headed. The more they use it, and the more they exert themselves, the worse their health becomes. Nose bleeds, anemia, fainting, bruising along the body. Anna, their personal AI situated in their rig, is constantly telling your character about how their overall health has dropped a few percentages lower. It's a fight against the ones who are hiding the truth from you, as well as a race against time; find out the truth, before your own body turns against you. This plot relies heavily on player choice- what information you choose to pursue will be your choice. You may miss some information or discover secrets based on your actions as a group and your decisions as a whole.

Use strategy to navigate a city filled with hostiles, and brainwashed citizens willing to shriek at those hostiles the moment they notice something is off with you. Come to terms with loveless marriages, finding out if you hate the person you're partnered with or not, and whether or not you truly love or have a passion for your current profession. Your character's personality can develop as they discover new traits about themselves, as well as forge new relationships with others and discover who they truly are behind the drug.

Info and Links

Interest has been expressed, so I'm proceeding with the creation of the game.

Asylum Full Google Doc

Keep in mind the Doc may have a few typos, it's in the 'rough draft/ set up' stage. I'm reworking old writing from around 6 years ago, and I've grown in my literary skills since then. It appears longer than it is; lots of image stretching.

What information is not covered here, will be covered in depth in the Doc. However, if you have questions, please feel free to ask me below.

I may need help GMing if this gets more than a few players, but seeing as this is my first dip into the forums here, I haven't any idea how many people will find this interesting. That said, people who are really excited or passionate about the idea can feel free to PM me, and we can talk shop about the thread. :D

Post below if you're interested! PM me if you're REALLY interested! Ask any questions to may feel the need to ask!

When considering abilities for your character, I have a few rules related to this. No elemental abilities, as we're going for uniqueness rather than recycled powers. No ears/ tails/ animal hybrids. No shape shifting, unless you can make a damn good case about how it's not too OP and would be unique in this instance. No major visible deformities UNLESS they can be turned on and off- with great effort- at will, or hidden.

No flying, mind reading, teleportation, telekinesis, control over electronics, or abilities to hack into tech with your mind. These are game breaking abilities that may ruin the experience for players; try to make your power give your character a special place in the party. Brains? Brawn? Crowd control? Support? Subterfuge? What unique, niche thing can your character bring to the table to help them in the search for the truth?

I may add more banned powers to my discretion.

I think that's it for now! I'll just go ahead and toss this out into the aether, now. Don't mind me. ; u;[/s]
FULL PLOT

It’s the year 3062, and you are a resident of the beautiful, majestic city state in the north- Aurora. The city boasts itself as the largest city-state in the world, and is a marvel of human ingenuity and engineering. Many call it a paradise on earth- little to no carbon emissions, an entire ecosystem with wildlife and sea life alike, sporting some of the most advanced technology known to man.

There is, however, a catch. The city was built in the far north- as in, the North Pole. Surrounding the city lay miles and miles of icy tundra, unforgiving wildlife, and a climate riddled with frozen death. Lucky for you, Aurora is a city of warmth and prosperity- brought upon by the city’s protective dome, sporting automatic environmental regulations. The inside of the dome feels like South America during the summer, with the comfortable Southern-American climate during the winter. The inner walls of the Dome are lined with holographic technology, hiding the hellish white and blistering snow clouds with clear blue skies, and on occasion, scheduled rain. However, as natural disasters are still commonplace outside the protective barrier of the dome’s walls, the residents of Aurora are cautioned to remain vigilant.

  ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾
Thus the bio genetics department of Chancel Corporation’s research and development team came out with a miracle serum. A serum created with the sole purpose that  in case of emergency, or should the dome become breached, it would automatically activate within the bloodstream. The serum would then begin providing an internal heat source that would last at the very least a few hours, whilst  the damage to the dome is being repaired and the citizens are moving to relevant shelters. Thus, in theory, saving the lives of possibly 1 million people from a hypodermic demise.

At least, that’s what Chancel Corp would like everyone to believe. The truth of the matter is far more complicated- if not entirely dire- than their pretty garnished lies could ever amount to. Unbenounced to the citizens living within the walls of Aurora’s dome walls, the serum they are being injected with once a month has nothing to do with the cold. They have no idea that they are living among the emotionally deceased- for the serum has one major ‘side effect.’ An effect that, if issued properly to the people, would go blissfully unnoticed-
Their individuality has been completely stripped from them. Everyone performs the same tasks, over and over, the same routine, following orders spoon fed to them and have never been the wiser. People are placed into fields of work that are required in the moment to keep the city running smoothly. People are forced into relationships with no love, have families built from scientific genetic compatibility checks, and would never know the feeling of joy. Nor anger, or frustration; nor love or hate.

  ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾

As long as they keep taking their monthly shot of Nivalis, many people live and die without feeling a single thing.

But your character, for whatever reason, has missed their shot this month. Or perhaps they have missed a couple of shots in a row, and are starting to feel things aside from the withdrawals. Frustration, confusion, pain and dysphoria- all of these things pushed you to search for medical advice on your rig using your personal AI, and found yourself overwhelmed with curiosity upon finding a rogue file. You’d never noticed it before. Had it always been there? Perhaps your character recalls it being there, perhaps they don’t; but one thing is clear, they were actively programmed not to look at it whilst on Nivalis.

Upon finding it, depending on your character’s initial reaction, eventually they would view the file. Within the file itself,  they witnessed a man desperately explaining that Chancel Corp has been deceiving everyone; that they had eyes everywhere. (A description of the holographic video labelled ‘Unknown File’ will be posted in the thread for characters to review.)

Towards the end the man speaking becomes increasingly distressed; announcing you should seek out a specific 'unknown user.' This person, or possibly entity, will know how to find the Truth. Some of them know parts of the Truth. Find them, don’t take another shot of Nivalis; and for the love of everything that’s holy, lie low. Or at least, you gather that you should, considering the man in the holograph file gets bullet ridden by Chancel Corp Security towards the end of his rant. And now, after witnessing such an audacious thing, you are starting to question the very fibres of your existence here in Aurora, and are beginning to ask questions that Chancel believes no one has got any business asking-

  ‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾‾

What is Nivalis? And more importantly, why is everyone taking it, really? A few days after you viewed the file, a message from an unknown user came up on your notifications from your personal rig- a message that has pushed you to take action. It contained two words and a location marker. Your character could use this to ping your city map and calculate out the fastest route.

The Truth- District 11, centre 3.

There begins the player’s search for The Truth. Only, the truth would be far more than you bargained for, and it would put a target right between your eyes. For in this city, knowledge is power, and those in power have no intention of letting it go. And finding The Truth will be far harder than you originally anticipated- subterfuge, theft, hacking, undercover excursions, building up fake ties and calling in favors from your mysterious ‘unknown user’ are some of the things you hadn’t ever imagined yourself doing. And yet, these actions of defiance and criminality are now the only things that are safeguarding your life.

If only things were that easy. While being off Nivalis has given you the capacity to think for yourself; to feel again, there are also some perplexing side effects. For some reason, you find yourself changing in ways you never imagined was possible. The only way you could describe these changes to someone else would be through a single, obscure term that even your character might have yet to wrap their head around is... abilities. Unfortunately, the more powerful your ‘abilities’ become, the more a strange weakness inside you spreads. If you continuously use this ability, it drains you of not only your strength, but your physical health. Nose bleeds, bruises forming over your skin, anemia, fainting.  Finding out the truth isn’t just a matter of life and death between you and whoever it is you are fighting- but it’s also a matter of time.

Find out what The Truth is before you’re forced to over exert yourself. It’s a fight between your characters and the god like company that runs this city, as well as a battle against their own bodies.

Alright! I've recieved a couple of private messages just now expressing interest, so here we go! :D! Here's some basic information you guys should know before we begin:

Check the Google Doc I provided above in the Info and Links section. It has answers to every question you might need to ask in order to really flesh out your character- it tells you about social dynamics, who lives in what area of Aurora City, where the slums are, and where you fall on the social hierarchy if you live and work in certain districts. For instance, anyone who works for Chancel Corp Pharmaceuticals, or even those who work in District 6 itself, will live in the fancy, mansion filled District 5 area. District 3 couples as both the hard physical Labour District, and the middle class housing district.

District 1 is the Slums; no one who lives and 'works' in District 1 has the rights to pass through the gates into District 2 an beyond, unless they have permission from a District 3 or higher resident, or unless they can pay for their education enough to rise out of their current social rank. The doc also goes through technology, and has a visual library of images to reference what kind of things you van expect in Aurora City. It explains the Rig systems, Chancel Security versus the Aurora Police Department, etc. Little things that may give you ideas or help you develop your character.

Be aware, there is a lot of image stretching in this doc; so the doc appears to have more pages of info than it actually does. There is a section to your left where you can navigate the doc to certain segments, for quick review, so you don't have to scroll through the pictures every time.

If you guys ask me to, I can move the information from the doc onto the forums here. For now, however, the doc is the easy, one-stop-shop for all the info you'd ever possibly want in order to develop your character's life and back story. That said, I'll be writing up the rules and posting them here instead of the doc. I will edit this post to make additions to it in the future. Keep an eye out! :D

Note** This post will also contain the video description of the holotape that characters witness when they find it. Hang on tight!

We currently have 5/10 players who have expressed interest.

Rules

  • No anime characters as face claims. No matter how realistically drawn they may be; as an animation student myself, I find myself uncomfortable when someone takes a character image and puts a new name/ face on it. It's disconcerting. HOWEVER, that said, you may use concept art for the sci-fi related things if you cannot find IRL images to support what you're looking for. Such as weaponry, armor, technology, etc. Just your character themselves should be a real person as a face claim.

  • Post your character below as an application to join. I'll let you know if it's accepted into the role play or not! I may need you to tweak a few things; and it's extremely common to need to tweak abilities. This isn't because your ability is bad, but because I have a secret, over arching plot and I don't want to have plot bending abilities within the game itself. Of course, to keep you in suspense for the game itself, I'm not going to tell you if it breaks the plot or not; it's more fun for you to have those kernels to chase!

  • Try to post at least once a week. The story may move quickly at times, and if it's more than a week, some characters may get stuck. As GM, I reserve the right to hijack a scene and progress it, if another player is away for a little too long. If you're going to be away for longer than a week, please shoot me a PM and let me know. I totally understand, you're not in trouble at all. ; u;!

  • The Non-Con elements primarily are attributed towards characters being in relationships and arranged marriages without their consent, seeing as they were under the control of the drug. If you wish to explore these elements as a part of your character's development, I will not stop you, hence why I placed it into the Non-Con area. However, I do not condone active non-con between player characters if the players have not given EXPLICIT consent that they are willing to move forward with a story arc of that kind. If anyone tries this, please come to me immediately. Communication is key in a dark themed role play, players must be on board with everything that happens to their characters.

  • Try your best to keep track of your character's Constitution. I have progress bars, and can give them to you for visual aid. PM me whenever to need to update your progress bar. I will keep track myself, but I can't keep track of everything for everyone by myself, so I would appreciate some help from the players. c:

  • Basic Elliquiy rules apply here. If you're having an issue between yourself and another player, PM me and I will mediate between you. If it escalates beyond my capacity to GM, then I will defer you to take your problem to staff.

  • Only 2 character per person to begin with. I may increase it to 3.

  • For now, until I have an official Character Sheet thread up, please feel free to post your initial character below. That way, you guys can communicate between each other and start building pre-game ties/ ideas, before I finish it and open it up for everyone.

    • I may add more at a later date, but I think this is fine for now.

Character Sheet

Alright! This post is where the base code for the Character Sheet is found. Please delete any messages you see in (BRACKETS). So, anything that looks like this--->

If it's in ( ), delete the () and the words in it. :D!

Additionally, feel free to add in more pictures for your character, more information, or more coding/ colors/ flare! Customize your sheet as much or as little as you'd like to. If the sheet looks TERRIBLY funny on your screen, please screenshot it and send it to me in a PM, so I can figure out how to make it work better for you. C: Keep in mind, the base looks funny smooshed into a tiny Spoiler, but.. yeah. xD! IGNORE THE INFINITE SPACE. I swear it disappears when you drop it into a full sized post.

Current Overall Health: 99%.

(All characters start at 99% by default, unless they have been off Nivalis for longer than around a month or two. Your character's overall health will decrease every time they use their abilities, and certain levels of your character's ability will be more strenuous and affect them more heavily. I have progress bars available; if you don't want to start at 99%, PM me with the amount of percentage you'd like to start off with, and I'll send you your preferred progress bar. I will keep track of these during the RP, though it would be helpful for you to regularly keep track as best you can, too. Please see the Abilities section for more details. There won't be any complex math involved, I promise. :D DON'T FORGET TO DELETE ME, I'M AN UGLY WALL OF TEXT LMAO)

Personality

(Try for at least one paragraph about your character's personality. Keep in mind; they don't have to know too much about themselves, if they are just coming off of Nivalis. However, if you're opting for a slightly more self aware character, or if you're inspired, then feel free to go past one paragraph! It's just the minimum, not the standard. The fun part about this role play, in regards to the characters, is them discovering themselves and who they actually are/ what they truly enjoy. So, feel free to put things down in likes/ dislikes/ personality that your character merely THINKS they enjoy in the moment, and come back to edit it out at a later date should they discover they like something else.

This space is intentionally left with the bare minimum of coding. Can be simple text explanation, or you can add pictures/ flare of your own.)
Abilities

NAME OF ABILITY GOES HERE

Description:

(Explanation of your character's ability goes here. Your character can develop their ability over time, to increase their strength. Or, they can have access to higher a potency version of their ability. The higher the potency, the more Constitution it costs. Please keep in mind: I'm not a TERRIBLE stickler for these costs, thus the Level 1 abilities will cost anywhere between 0-3% constitution per use, depending on your discretion. You don't have to keep 100% accurate track of your usage, either; I'll try to regularly update and keep track as best I can, too.)

0-3% Constitution Cost
  • Developmental Level One: (Your character's least strenuous use of this ability. For example, if your character had the ability to scry images in reflective surfaces, then their level one ability would be touching or holding a mirror that is in or around the building they are trying to scry into. They can only scry, or connect their mirror up to view an image of something happening in the moment, and they can only connect up to another mirror. Therefore, the room and individuals they are scrying must have a mirror like surface within the room they are in, if your character wishes to spy. They must also be touching a mirror for it to work, and they must be exceedingly close to their subject.)

3-5% Constitution Cost

  • Developmental Level Two: (Your character can scry not only from mirrors but other highly reflective surfaces. They can also do so from a moderate distance. The images are sharper and clearer, and can be held for longer at a time than the original level of the ability. If holding a personal object of the individual, your character could 'follow' them, simply by holding the object at the same time as holding their scrying mirror. This would cost 5% constitution, but proximity wouldn't be an issue.)

5-15% Constitution Cost

  • Developmental Level Three: (Proximity is no longer an issue, and your character can scry through computer screens. They no longer need to hold a mirror, but they need to be very close to the receptacle for their ability. They can maintain this link for a long period of time- regardless of whether or not the screen is currently on, seeing as they are simply using the surface of the screen and not the technology itself. At 15% constitution cost, they may get snippets of audio through their reflective surface as well, although it sounds as though it's an echo through a cave, due to the audio having to hit and bounce off the screen first before it can come through on their end.)

40% Constitution Cost

  • The Big Lebowski: (The ultimate move of desperation, as it will take a large chunk out of your character's health. And, depending on how high their Constitution is, they may regret doing this. Whether or not characters can come back from dropping their Constitution too low, if anyone does happen to get that low, will be a side quest ark implemented should the need arise. For now, in this example, the Big Lebowski for this one is that their scrying abilities also count for the reflecting surfaces of holographic light generators; when standing in front of a hologram, if the other individuals they are attempting to scry are anywhere near a rig or a holographic recorder, they can scry and project the images of the individuals through the use of a holographic projector. The projectors don't have to be on, they're simply looking through and copying light particles as they strike against the surfaces of the light bulbs that produce holograms. Much higher audio quality is shared, and it can be done at any distance, without personal objects to 'follow' a subject. )

Biography

(Try for at least 3 paragraphs of a biography for your character. What was their life like in Aurora? How did they get where they are? What do they do? Are they in a forced marriage? If they are married, do they think they love their spouse, or are they disgusted by them? What do they do? How did they get into their profession, if any? How did they come off of Nivalis, and what have they been doing to cope since then? Lots of possibilities here. Again, bare minimum coding; you can either just drop a text biography of your character, or add some coding/ images/ flare. Whatever you want. ; u;! These aren't set in stone. Your character can be in arranged marriages with other player characters, or have pre-established knowledge of other characters. It's up to you, and anyone else who wants to get in on it. :D )

They can only scry, or connect their mirror up to view an image of something happening in the moment, and they can only connect up to another mirror. Therefore, the room and individuals they are scrying must have a mirror like surface within the room they are in, if your character wishes to spy. They must also be touching a mirror for it to work, and they must be exceedingly close to their subject.) [/li]
3-5% Constitution Cost

[li] Developmental Level Two: (Your character can scry not only from mirrors but other highly reflective surfaces. They can also do so from a moderate distance. The images are sharper and clearer, and can be held for longer at a time than the original level of the ability. If holding a personal object of the individual, your character could 'follow' them, simply by holding the object at the same time as holding their scrying mirror. This would cost 5% constitution, but proximity wouldn't be an issue.)[/li]
5-15% Constitution Cost

[li] Developmental Level Three: (Proximity is no longer an issue, and your character can scry through computer screens. They no longer need to hold a mirror, but they need to be very close to the receptacle for their ability. They can maintain this link for a long period of time- regardless of whether or not the screen is currently on, seeing as they are simply using the surface of the screen and not the technology itself. At 15% constitution cost, they may get snippets of audio through their reflective surface as well, although it sounds as though it's an echo through a cave, due to the audio having to hit and bounce off the screen first before it can come through on their end.)[/li]
40% Constitution Cost

[li] The Big Lebowski: (The ultimate move of desperation, as it will take a large chunk out of your character's health. Much higher audio quality is shared, and it can be done at any distance, without personal objects to 'follow' a subject. ) [/li]

I'm throwing my hat in the ring with interest!

Great! I saw your PM, and I've gotten a couple more messages about people interested as well. Sorry it took me a while to respond, I was writing up the character sheet/ working on the RP more. (I know I mentioned this in PM, but it's worth mentioning it on the public forum where people can read it. c: )

I'll add in a player count, to help keep track of confirmed interested players! But I'll only include those who've expressly stated their interest either here, or mentioned they'd like to join via PM. So, questions about the game by people who are unsure if they're fully committed won't get slotted into the count. ; u;!

Juaco34

Definitely interested. Haven’t started yet, but will be working on the character sheet as soon as I can.

Current Overall Health: 93%.

Name: Matthias E. Kohler
Age: 28.
Gender: Male.
Sexuality: He doesn't have time to figure it out- but maybe he could go either way.
   Home District: District 3.
Work District: District 3.
Occupation: Ex Engineer; now a Welder/ Fabricator in the Labour District.

  • The scent of steel smoke, despite it's toxicity.
  • Tinkering with things and working with his hands.
  • The silence in the shop after he's closed and locked up for the night.
  • Being touched unexpectedly.
  • People randomly getting too close; nearly touching is just as bad as physical contact.
  • Anna, and her constant whining in his ear.

Personality

Matt is generally a quiet person. He doesn't tend to speak, unless he needs to. He's unsure if it's a habit he gained whilst being on Nivalis, or if it's something he's naturally inclined to do. This is especially confusing for him, considering there are times where he can be the individual who talks the most in the room. However, the majority of regular conversations consist of him waiting and listening. He's a careful listener, and tends to hone in on details of words, conversations, or facts that some people might have missed. That, as far as he can tell, was a result of his first career as an Engineer. In his old profession, if he didn't pay attention to every little detail of his work- including the planning procedure, and the client instructions- it might have meant his designs could have killed someone. So, he tends to be keen when observing his surroundings or listening to people speak, by a force of habit.

Matthias doesn't understand his emotions yet; so more often than not, he will find himself shutting down or attempting to bottle them up. Anger is the worst for him, as it reacts terribly with his curse, and he learned that the hard way very quickly. Thus, he's more likely to silently remove himself from a situation that's making him angry, as opposed to simply losing control. Additionally, over the course of the last three clean months, he's discovered he has a bit of an impulse.

When people mention they have an issue, and he knows he can solve it, he tends to just automatically solve it without verbally expressing he was doing so. When he'd finish, he would quietly drop whatever it was he'd been working on off for them, and carry about his day. Most people on Nivalis ignore his efforts out right- and he is unsure if sane people would actually appreciate the gesture, or see it as interference. He's new to this whole... 'social interaction' thing. And with his curse making a lot of social interactions rather difficult for him, he does his best to contribute from a distance. It's not as though he hates physical interaction, or getting close with people; it's just that it's dangerous now, so he's weary.

Abilities

Description:

At first, he just thought it was the withdrawals making him utterly repulsed by food. It wasn't until he woke up in a sweat, making a mad dash for his kitchen sink, and ended up drink every bottle he found when he realized something was horribly wrong. He'd thought that the chemicals at work and the cleaning products in his house had smelled incredibly enticing. And after spending so much time cleaning the bathroom of the evidence of his withdrawals, he eventually caved into the temptation of drinking the bottle of bathroom cleaner- it was the first product to get downed from under his sink.

His ability is more of a curse- regular food repulses him, and he's drawn to toxic chemicals as if they were a five star dish instead. Horrifyingly he can then bring up those substances somehow- making some ugly chemical reactions when they're mixed together. He can make gasses in his lungs and breathe them out, he can make toxic, volatile substances through his skin by simply sweating it out when he wants to. That said, he's limited by what he's consumed recently, and how much. He can't create substances that don't already exist, they need to be stored separately within various tissue and organs inside his body in order for him to pull them up. This is primarily to prevent them from reacting with each other before he wants them to.

His body also 'fills up', so if he has a certain amount of chemicals already stored, then he can't add any more. For him, it's like being 'sated.' Until then, he's tempted to drink or consume every toxic substance he can get his hands on. And, if he's caught in need of a certain substance but he's already full, he either has to expel another substance to make room, or tough it out. Two of his colleagues were hospitalized due to touching his skin directly, after he'd managed to get sated and was starting to feel angry more often. It was then that he realized he needed to make a conscious effort to not be a walking death trap. He doesn't always slip up- but after that experience, he's unsure if he can trust himself anymore.

0-3% Constitution Cost
  • Developmental Level One: He can produce substances very easily through his skin. He can directly transfer these substances through skin to skin contact into other people via the same method; it enters in through their sweat glands and pores, if it's a liquid. It then worms it's way into their system. Transferring liquid chemicals through skin to skin contact costs 3% constitution. These substances can only be mixed and created based on what he's consumed, and he cannot pull or create substances out of other sources. He can more easily produce liquids and gasses, and cannot produce solids such as powders.

3-5% Constitution Cost

  • Developmental Level Two: He can more precisely select the substances he wants, and can condense them within his body to fit a little bit more than he originally could. However, condensing uses 5% constitution by itself. He can therefore produce higher quantities of substances. Unstable substances remain stable for a small period of time, so long as he's holding it in his lungs (gas) or the substance is still resting over his skin. He can hold potential reactions for a slightly longer amount of time.

5-15% Constitution Cost

  • Developmental Level Three: He can, using careful selection and consumption or inhalation of extremely volatile gasses, force the substances to hold their reactions until they have fully expelled past his body for at least 3 feet. The power and velocity of the reaction is still subject to the amount and reactivity of the substance, as well as the type of reaction he is currently producing. He can also produce solids, specifically powdered substances or crystals.

Creating knock out gas or small explosions specifically will cost him 15% constitution.

40% Constitution Cost

  • The Big Lebowski: Everything within 5 feet of him is fair game. He can pull substances directly out of the air, the ground, minerals, any near by canisters, or physical matter that easily breaks down into base chemical forms. Using the chemicals in his surroundings, he can create far more powerful and potent reactions; and his range in holding the volatile reactions as well as the distance with which he can project them is greatly increased.

It's possible he could cause a large explosion, or knock out a large crowd of people, but at a great cost to his health in addition to draining every substance in his body and using it as fuel.

Biography

Matthias was born to a rather mundane family; but he supposed that the same could be said for many people growing up in Aurora City. His father owned a restaurant in District 4, though it was by no means meant to cater to District 5 folk. His mother worked in accounting for a law firm that primarily handled copyright filings with Chancel Corp. Therefore, his parents had lived in District 3, and always came dangerously close to just the right amount of income for District 5. Hell, maybe they did make enough to live in District 5. Matt wouldn't know- and asking his aging folks now was likely a deviancy from protocol, and would only get him on Chancel's hit list.

He lived with his parents until he finished his education, and once he got his results back from his exams, he found he had an aptitude for Engineering. Thus, that's what he went to University for- and it seemed perfectly reasonable at the time. If he could swim through the drug induced haze that was his memories of his university life, he thought he might have enjoyed the process. Especially learning drafting and design; it was such a crucially precise craft that it always found a way of capturing his attention, despite him feeling no real joy in the process. He supposed it was better than simply moving through the motions of an uninteresting career. He was good at what he did, and eventually earned enough income to get himself his own apartment in District 3. He was on the verge of getting a promotion into Chancel's Technological Engineering department, which would have earned him a social rank up to District 5, when everything suddenly changed.

New career assignment. Welder, Fabricator. Report to District 3's Labour sector.

And that was it- he didn't even question it. He just packed up all his things from his office, and moved from primarily design work to hard, physical labour. It changed his physique, only that was to be expected, considering he now tossed around two hundred pounds of steel for almost 10 hours a day; sometimes six days a week. He just got used to the searing heat and burns from slaving over nine thousand degree molten metal. However, now that he was aware of just what had been taken away from him- a spot in District 5, the capacity to think and design his own creations? It irked him. Matt isn't sure if he did something wrong, or if Chancel just decided out of the blue he needed a career change last minute.

He's been welding and fabricating for two years now, and he's gotten quite adept at it. He had some experience with the grunt work as an Engineer, so it wasn't beyond his capabilities. He'd always had a steady hand.

It was during some sort of 'emergency order' by Chancel Corp that he accidentally missed his first shot. They needed dome panels replaced- everyone in his shop dropped everything and worked on those for weeks. Hell, he wasn't sure he slept for more than a few thirty minute intervals at a time. Those panels were gigantic, and he had no idea why they had to do it. Those 24 ft by 24 ft panels? Yeah, those were robot jobs. Yet here he was, busting his ass off for days, ignoring the growing screeching in his head to get his shot. He was so far gone that when a company nurse came by while he was tucked under a panel and asked him about it, he'd lied and told her he already took a personal shot. To be fair, he had fully intended to take his personal shot that he had back at home. Whenever it was that he was allowed to go home, anyways. She simply marked him down on record as having taken his monthly, and walked away.

He had no idea what he'd gotten himself in to. The programming in his head seemed satisfied with 'I'll take my personal shot,' and seemed to quiet down a while. However, towards the end of the job, his body just... gave out. And he was forced to actually sleep. By the time he woke up from his sixteen hour nap, he was well past the Nivalis being in his system, and the withdrawals had begun. Needless to say, he simply went back to work, telling Anna to 'disregard that' whenever she started chattering something about his body temperature rising, increased stomach lining irritation, or some other medical symptom of withdrawal. Their deadline was nearing, and he didn't have time to head home, Anna. Shut your robotic mouth.

Annoyance, it was something he never felt before. And the realization hit him as he was doing an overhead weld, and he damn near busted the weld up by burning through the material. It took them another week to finish the job, and after they were done, they took one look at his health fluctuations and decided he'd overworked himself. He was put on medical leave, and spent the rest of that month either glued to his bed, or sleeping on the floor of the bathroom.

When things finally blew over, his head was clear and he was a walking bio hazard. He hadn't even meant to make Ron and Jess sick- they'd just... touched his skin by accident. Happens in a welding shop, when you're handing things off to other people a lot. Lucky for him, the majority of what he'd been consuming at the time had been out of the shop; thus they just assumed the two of them came into contact with a chemical substance while at work. That said, Matt doesn't trust himself around people. He can physically touch people without making them sick, but he grows distressed at the idea of accidentally hurting them, and expends more effort on controlling his abilities when in contact with people than anything else. Holding it back intentionally; however, makes him feel extremely light headed.

It was almost time for his next monthly shot when he found the Unknown File, and watched the tape that came with it. At that point in time, he was trying to find records of legal repercussions for not taking Nivalis- and he just.. found it, floating nearly outside of holographic parameters. After he watched the video, he vowed never to take Nivalis again; Chancel was evil. He just didn't know why, or how evil, exactly.  The last few things the crazed man had said stuck with him the most- find the 'Unknown User.' You'll 'get a ping,' he said. So, Matt goes about his daily life, going to and from the shop with a lifeless, expressionless look on his face, holding his facade until he gets that ping. If it ever comes at all, that is. For all he knew, it really was just some crazy bastard... but, in the pit of his gut, something told him he wasn't.

So far, Matthias has managed to stay off of Chancel's radar. However, he recently got a notification that they were intending to marry him off soon, and even the thought of it sent him into a panic. His home was his only safe haven- he could make expressions, be himself, act like who he actually was, and drink or consume as much chemicals as he needed to in order to 'eat.' If some expressionless doll walked into his life now, one that they expected him to be physical with, he'd be caught in an instant. His stress levels are currently elevated due to him being caught between a rock and a hard place, although he's gotten damn good at pretending like nothing is wrong. Either he figures something out soon, or he has to go under the radar and blow his cover.

No worries! I'll jot you down! :D! I should have the Holotape information up later today. And possibly a mini update to the character sheet; just adding two optional spots for information at the end. Anything additional about your charcater you'd like to add, or any additional images you'd like to throw in. ; 3 ;¡

Welcome to our camp out here! XD
